Disabling "Player was killed" message and murder count.
Haplo (DayZ) replied to JayMeHD's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i'm keen for this, though as stated above, i'm pretty sure the debug monitor is alpha specific. i do agree it would be better not seeing "soandso was murdered -
I made a suggestion of my own that complements this, though this is more for when bases have already been established. The thread can do a better job of explaining it than I can right now...: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/38928-community-minigames-a-form-of-currency/

i would like to have something like a gameboy added
Haplo (DayZ) replied to georgiapeach's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This would be sweet. Faithwolf, you're right, DayZ is immersive, so let's make it more immersive and add some lootable items that would apply to an apocalypse in the real world. A gameboy type deal wouldn't stop you from looking with alt. -
Misc additions for further player fortifications
Haplo (DayZ) replied to Publik's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
love these ideas dude my only suggestion would be that multiple pieces of scrap metal are required to combine -> tank traps, metal wall, gate. oh and; as a smoker, cigarettes aren't really painkillers, but perhaps alcohol could be implemented for similar effect? a little alcohol would steady your aim, a little more would make your iron sights sway, a little more would blur vision and increase sway further, and a lot more would cause unconsciousness. it might be better if alcohol reduced the chance of needing painkillers rather, rather than being used instead of painkillers once you've sustained injury. thoughts? you should check this thread, it's more of a suggestion for once bases are actually established, though it hasn't received much positive feedback... http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/38928-community-minigames-a-form-of-currency/ -
Encouraging co-op play - Survivor town
Haplo (DayZ) replied to rdubs's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This thread could complement this thread (http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/46485-dayz-island-zombie-buff-pvp-curb/) quite well. Though they both have their flaws, just needs a little ironing! -
I would bet on my tits that if this was implemented into the game (in some way) before you got your hands on it, you would be pissing your pants screaming "ERRRHMA GUURD. DIS SAAAAA KEEEWL". I know my idea isn't without flaws, but that is what forums are supposed to be for. I guess you can sit on the floor, but I'd hope that most people would already have a couch. Getting all the other pieces for the console should be quite difficult. The loot should be extremely rare, and found in residential areas that are crawling with 2-3 times more zombies than right now. Finding a complete set would only be possible by raiding someone's base, which adds another reason to assault bases other than for weapons.

How to Encourage PvP (in a healthy way)
Haplo (DayZ) replied to Haplo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The only problem right now MinxinG is that people that want to be friendly aren't given any sort of cues to establish whether a person is trustworthy or not. With the exception of ghilli, everybody looks identical, and for the sake of staying alive, I'm pretty sure most people choose to shoot on sight. This system would give at least some indication of who you may be able to make friends with (at least in the early stages), but just like real life; you never know who you can trust. You're right in that the main focus should be on the zombies, which is why I suggested that they should be 2-3 times as dense. This doesn't negate that the fact the biggest threat is actually other people, with guns. In that respect, I think the solution to senseless player killing is actually to encourage it, but in a healthy way. Big maps are cool and fancy, but I don't want to play on a map that is 3-400 square kilometres, when there might only be 15 other people in the server. For the map to be any bigger, the population cap needs to be boosted to at least one hundred, for all servers, which is unrealistic at the moment. A smaller map is the simplest solution to reduce associated issues, and increase the population density of both zombies and survivors. Gandrew, the population just seems way to sparse at the moment. Also, fresh players stand just as much chance against end game players as they do now. I'm not suggesting that the military spawn in the city be the only military spawn, but it should certainly be the most rewarding. All it takes is a few hours gameplay and you will be familiar with both sides of the map. You still have the challenge of finding your friends, jsut as much as you do now. I'm not suggesting you choose exactly where you spawn, but just the general territory. Yes, the bandit/survivor area means nothing, but that is exactly the point. Of course, survivors will hunt bandits, and bandits will hunt survivors and bandits alike. This is just a non intrusive way of trying to give fresh players the chance to group up before taking on the world. By everything else, do you mean the power tools necessary to access the high end military loot? I understand that this makes things a little complex, but it is much closer to simulating a real world environment. It would add substantial risk to looting the military base, increasing the tension, the adrenaline, and the sense of reward. -
Sorry to break it to you son, but as soon as people think they can get away with it, ie. a zombie apocalypse takes place, there is going to be a lot of rape. /Previous comment considered null & void, thread resumed.

Really? I feel sorry for you, you sadistic little bastard. Another element to consider here is that in time, we would see some awesome games which would become highly sought after. I'd imagine most would be shitty little arcade games, but I'd still enjoy this feature. In a real life apocalypse, no one here would choose to go without video games, and it's not like they're hard to come by. You had better have some good shit to trade me though, I will have all of the consoles ;) On top of requiring all the essential parts to using a console (TV, power, etc.) it should also be necessary to have a couch, which would recquire at least a ute to transport, and 2 people to move. This adds a variety of interesting circumstances, and pushes the idea further back into the endgame. Again, I feel the need to quote myself: "Rather than trying to get one up on others, you could take the core idea of a thread and suggest ways to make it better or different. That element here is improving the endgame, and long term playability of DayZ", which also ties in to the fact that underground bases will come in to effect. I'm trying to make this a thing that people want to do, and ideally, establishing a base also entails making it a desirable place to dwell. It would be great to see some comments from others who also wish to add spice to the end game, some real world 'objectives' and things to acheive. Do people like that exist here? Or is this forum just full of kids who reject ideas like this 'cos they're jealous they've never got that far, and don't want to see another mechanic in the game that they won't be successful at?

End Game - Things to make you group up.
Haplo (DayZ) replied to oosk@btinternet.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You want to win by escaping the zombie apocalypse? The ultimate endgame would have Chernarus as the last iving place on Earth. Zombie numbers continue to grow as the scent of living flesh carries on the wind. -
Electric and Natural lighting's V 4.0
Haplo (DayZ) replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I didn't read all the posts after the OP, just wanted to say I support this idea! The game currently needs some "real" objectives to prevent the endgame becoming so stale. ^_^ May perhaps need a few tweaks, but I'd love to see this implemented. Would create some fantastic PvP scenarios.. -
A subtle solution to the murder "problem"?
Haplo (DayZ) replied to libertine's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Bro, I'm covered in tats. I don't tuck in my shirt, I wear ripped jeans and beaten up shirts. I'm also one of the friendliest guys you will ever meet, which will hold true in the apocalypse. Unless you try and fuck with me. You would regret that quite quickly. Lame suggestion dude.. -
czech backpack should be BETTER than alice!
Haplo (DayZ) replied to aoshi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Alice packs are ugly. Czech packs are not ugly. +1 from me. U mad pro? -
Simple Deterance to Trigger happy CoD fans and "bandits"
Haplo (DayZ) replied to RedDedZed's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
PTSD isn't a realistic answer. This game is good enough at making you feel fear, and causing auditory and visual hallucinations. There is no need for artificial intervention, and it is a poor reflection of the human psyche. I do agree that this game needs to be made harder, but approaches like this have been beaten to death. Why am I even posting a response? -
Day Z Dcing homos and Cod noob bandit solutions
Haplo (DayZ) replied to Nhordski's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hmm.. Should it only be the homos that DC, or all people that DC that are effected by this key binding? This doesn't prevent esc/abort. In real life, I would "KoS for the lawls" if it suited me, and I highly doubt I would be too phased either. This game is good enough at making you feel fear, or see/hear things.. Implementing any "paranoia system" is completely unrealistic and impractical. Now watch this dissolve into another BS thread. -
Isn't it great!? This is my favorite pic: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/57114/11796381 According to the comments it could be a young Harris Glenn Milstead!!! ^_^

Nice fancy text fella. I'm willing to bet most of the people that would oppose this idea, are the ones who will be the most devastated when they can't watch cat videos or stream porn. Again, I feel the need to quote myself: "Rather than trying to get one up on others, you could take the core idea of a thread and suggest ways to make it better or different. That element here is improving the endgame, and long term playability of DayZ" Why are you even on this forum when all you do is post single word response? I feel the need to ask, was that link supposed to be aimed at this thread somehow, or was that a further attempt at trying to impress other trolls?
-
That's such a boring and impractical reason! Are you honestly trying to say you're happy sitting inside a yard with nothing to do for fun but throw rocks at the birds? []o<-< []o<-<o<-< []o<-<o<-<o<-< []o<-<o<-<o<-<o<-< o>-< ...^broken zombies ^this zombies is just gonna crawl all up in your shit, if the fence hasn't already been crushed. ^electric fence Don't be so ready to keep this game a generic FPS deathmatch. I go back on what I've stated before, this isn't an apocalypse (except maybe for the first hour of a character). This is post-apocalypse, and surviving is more than just staying alive, it's establishing life under pressing circumstances. I don't understand; if this game was released post-alpha, and already had this feature in it, all the little boys would be squealing with joy. Again, I feel the need to quote myself: "Rather than trying to get one up on others, you could take the core idea of a thread and suggest ways to make it better or different. That element here is improving the endgame, and long term playability of DayZ" You can have some beans. (You look like you're starving)

Game purchase only. Community and studio developed. (ie. original tracks can be sent to you, then placed in the game as lootable CDs, which can be played over radio stations.)
-
What if survivors and bandits alike had the chance to fight over control of known radio towers, whilst groups hold it down. Radio towers could be destroyed in a similar way to destructible buildings. On top of the radio towers that already exist, it would be cool if clans could construct their own. Spammers would quickly be taken out (or switched off), so I can't see any negative aspects to this, plus it heavily involves the community. What if, CD's/audio files could be found as loot in game, and the source of the songs was the DayZ community (if the songs don't breach copyright)?

I was gonna say something like; "yeah we've got guns, but we'll still take yo udown with paintballs." You lost me at "use skype" though.. Learn to game

I have seen multiple suggestions on including spray cans/custom sprays into DayZ. What if we had a competition, and the winner/s got their works thrown up on the entire side of a building in Chernarus. This is not a temporary tag, but a permanent addition to the DayZ environment. (Just to be clear, these works should suffer weather effects/permanent bullet damage over time, and custom tags etc would be cool) Rules could work something like this. -You can enter multiple works. -All work must be original. You must submit: -An original of the work. -An in-game screenshot, with the work then edited on to the building you desire. -You can submit multiple screenshots from different angles, but you can only choose 1 building per work. Don't know about you guys but spray paint is relatively high on the list of resources I will be looting quickly if shit goes down. Fuck da police, etc..

Great thread dude. This game does currently lack endgame potential. This thread would accompany this (http://dayzmod.com/f...e-you-group-up/) thread very well. Check it out, They'd work nicely together. I made a suggestion of my own, though this is something to make bases more desirable to establish: In short, these items are added to the loot system: a couch/chair, a TV, a retro console, controllers, power/av cables, (I'm pretty sure Rocket already wants to include) generators, and game cartridges. All these items are required to set this up. Chairs/couches need a ute to be moved The idea is that the DayZ community is the source of these minigames. A feature could be implemented to the forum in which users rate the games. Highly rated games becomeextremely rare, to the point that if you want a game, you may have to trade say 4 or 5 of the highest tier weapons, with ammo for all, just to get that game. This would encourage people to tackle to the high value military spawns, which in this city (discussed in the link above), carries a higher risk of death. I think it's a cool idea to help stop the game getting stale, and just so you know, I just killed 42 people in 2 weeks, on one life, without being a DC whore, so I won't be bunking down too heavily to play video games. Subtle elements really define that which is, or isn't a successful game. If the apocalypse happened, one of the most precious items for me would be video games, and I doubt anyone that is on this forum would be much different, in the long run at least... If you want to check out that thread at all, you can find it here: http://dayzmod.com/f...rm-of-currency/ It hasn't had much positive feedback yet...

Hopefully one day this game will be standalone. Then, paintball guns can be used for surviving and banditry alike. Paintball to the face = fucked up eyes, someone moves in and handcuffs the victim.

Mousing over a road sign should show the text in English.
Haplo (DayZ) replied to Flying Mathias's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The person in that game, is you. You need to acquire the ability to read a map yourself, or have someone teach you. I guess you're right though... We should make some user-friendly zombies too!
