Please tell me they got rid of infection and finally made it so people cannot hog the vehicles, that's the main killer for me and why I haven't played in months. In fact infection made all my friends remaining quit because it's made melee useless and it's annoying trying to find antibiotics, especially when there are no hospitals in the middle of the map.

What DayZ really is - A jogging simulator

Hopefully Dayz SA will have auto run -
Is this information valid or fake?

Anything so people cannot hog all the vehicles? When I used to play I never saw a vehicle for months unless I was on a private hive. -
Who is the Launcher creator? I have no idea... what a fucking stupid question.

The reason I like third person is because first person feels too fidgety, like it feels like I'm fighting the animation which is still moving my screen. -

I'm not excited to return to Chernarus though really, I'm so bored of it in Dayz, I haven't really played much since Sept last year and every time I try to go back I'm just bored of the map. Really you have Cherno and Elektro where everyone hangs and most of everything else gets ignored........ they really need to sort out spawn areas, they need to put a big city in the middle with a river going through, just to get people to move around the map. I'm wondering right now when Dayz will be on that big ARMA 3 map that is soon to be released next month and why isn't anyone porting that amazing take of helicopters map for Dayz? -

What impact does this have on hitboxes? Most FPS games I play the hitboxes seem to lag behind the body a lot, you'll run past a corner and then die.... I've never experienced this with Dayz and don't want it to end up being bad like BF3 is or even every frigging Source game I've ever played. -

I'm the post processing effects and all the bloom and blur that goes with it has gone. The framerate looks better as well, I was getting worried with the E3 video, that looked like a downgrade. The weapons look a lot better too, not as weak as the E3 video, though that might just be because it's a different weapon. The running didn't look as odd to me either, I dunno if that has changed or if I just didn't pay as much attention to it. The only thing I'm worried about really now is... 1. The Zombies, they're not in this build it seems like? I hated how they were in E3, the jump thing was too common, they shouldn't do it all the time and they just jumped straight past you. The Zombies are the worst thing about Dayz, worse than the hacking (which funnily enough I've never come across) and I just hope they act in a way that they're fun and they don't feel like you have to glitch them out to stand a chance. In the Mod they run too fast and all over the place that they're so hard to hit and not fun. 2. Jumping/Vaulting... I want to be able to climb over tall walls, I can jump over my 7ft fence simply by standing next to it, jumping and using my hands to push down and pull me up. I'm so sick of having to run all around a wall looking for gaps in it, when I should just be able to jump over. Dayz Tavania map is the worst for this, whoever made that map just put like 2 mile walls around everything and forces you to run all around. I could understand if you were carrying 60lbs of gear in your backpack but this isn't a military game. 3. Military weapons, I noticed you were using something that looked like an M16, M203, M4 or whatever, could have even been an SA80... I wasn't paying too much attention to it. I don't want the game to get to the point where everyone has powerful automatic rifles as it just means shoot on sight all the time. 4. Inventory vicinity worries me, I don't want the inventory to be really fast to use. Currently it's so slow that it makes you think twice about looting and that's how it should be. I could imagine looting a dead body takes a long time going through all the pockets, so we should have to spend time and risk being killed like how it currently works in the mod. 5.Will we have TF2 hats? -

I mean a proper jump, not just an animation that takes you through objects like how vault works. I want to be able to jump on objects, it's not like you can't glitch vault to do that so everything already has collision, it would be so easy to just add a proper jump in. -

This build looks a lot better HOWEVER. I want space to jump, I hate not being able to jump in games, we have these walls we have to run all around, when in real life you can just jump over them. Nice to see they've turned off the stupid post processing effects and all the horrible blur and bloom it gives. -
My problem is frame rate is something they've been touting since day 1, yet it still runs like crap and it doesn't look like they've made any effort there. What did people want from SA? Well from what my friends said two things always came up, they hated getting the game to work and frame rate. Whenever I speak to anyone in game or a friend their FPS is always like 20-30, that just isn't fun... whenever I'm in Cherno the game is just unplayable and I have a real doubt that's the zombies because I can be there alone on a server and only a few zombies and still have the same problem. You can say it's alpha all you like, that's fine but the frame rate is something they should have been working on from that start, especially when that was one of the biggest things Dean Hall kept going on about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqQewm7T3EM#at=3119 They're not going to be running this on a bad rig.. why does the frame rate suck? It's like just one step above slide show. On my rig and my friends rigs, we all have haswells or ivy bridge cpus with 670s - 780 gpus, Windows 8 or 7 and 16+gb of ram and we all have SSDs.... yet when playing ARMA 3 beta we have 30-40fps :\ like wtf? When looking at PC usage it's barely anything, so why isn't it taking advantage of our systems? Why isn't the game multi threaded? Why is there no 64bit client? I'm just not going to play a game that runs badly, like anyone else I know, it's more of an issue than hackers. People can make excuses all they like but there is no excuse, we always see it when these eastern Europeans make their own engines. The games are great but the engines they make are always complete dog shit.

Every time I see a new dev blog or footage of the game running at an event, the frame rate still sucks. I thought the two main goals were to sort out hacking and frame rate... yet it seems worse than ever and I really doubt they'd be showing the game off on crap rigs. There is no excuse for it either, they blame the A.I but whenever I turn the A.I off it's still really bad and I just don't get why, the game isn't exactly cutting edge graphically and there isn't a lot going on in the world. The whole world isn't rendered at once, so....... what is the major impact on frame rate? It seems to me that every game that goes CPU heavy really struggles, I have a 4770K and my framerate still sucks in Dayz, in fact I've noticed no difference coming from a first gen I7. Yet games that have gone GPU focused like BF3 and Crysis 3 just run amazing for how they look, they push the boundaries and BF3 has far more going on in the vast maps it has with 64 players on screen at once with destruction and vehicles everywhere. Like if you cannot make a good engine that runs well, why not just buy one? It isn't like you cannot get other engines to do what you want. They can all do vast open worlds now with realistic bullet physics and vehicles etc etc. The more I see the Dayz SA footage, the more disappointed I am and with ARMA 3 running like crap as well, I just don't where these empty promises of improved frame rates are going. Just looking at the "live" gameplay you did of ARMA 3 recently, all I noticed is your framerate is about 20... looked horrible. On my PC the game runs horrible too, have to start turning things down for like an increase of just 5 FPS. I have a 4770k 16gb ram, installed to an SSD and I've just bought a 780 to replace my 670SLI and nope...... frame rate still sucks on both ARMA 3 and Dayz.

I dunno I think that would look pretty great lmao, like some Garry's Mod thing gone wrong. Tbh why do you need animations? Just have them sliding across the floor in the modelling stance, that was pretty scary in War of the Servers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ppUl_CBuyz8&t=3522 -

1. Please fix the stupid jumping zombies! They didn't look good when you revealed them months ago and they still are broken now. 2. Are thought the framerate was meant to be getting fixed? It looks like you're running at 15FPS. 3. Please turn off the post processing effects and all the blur and bloom... I just cannot stand to look at game with all the crap turned on, it never looks good and is always the first thing I turn off. Tbh you just need to release on Steams Early Access or something, people aren't going to go crazy wanting their money back through that, it's clearly stated in the name Early Access lol. It's taken too long and my friends have lost interest, one who was excited for it last year actually told me last night that he doesn't care anymore and was allowed to play the mod so long that he got bored of Dayz. The longer the people play the mod, the longer people have to wait without anything, then they're just gonna move on... if it gets delayed till after GTA 5 and the new consoles etc. like it'll be even harder to find interest. -
Infection made my friends quit, though it was combined with boredom of waiting for SA, I dunno if they're that interested in it now anyways. Just a boring mechanic because zombies don't animate right, they'll hit you out of the blue from like 10ft away and suddenly you have infection and you'll never find antibiotics. That combined with there never being any vehicles cause people hide them in some place you'll never go to, the game is a mess now.

I think most people would have been happy for a game where it didn't require downloading so many aspects to get it to work and just to have a single client that was much smaller. The biggest hurdle I've found with friends is they cannot work out how to get the game to work, some have but most haven't and just gave up. So a single client version would have been really nice to get more people into the game, sadly the friends who gave up aren't interested anymore and the people who didn't are bored because of the lack of development. I find that none of my friends care anymore, they've all moved on and the announcement of the new consoles has them focused on them as well. They've all had a chance to move on and get addicted to other games and they wont be interested in SA now. The friends who have been playing are burnt out by Dayz now because they've played it too much and their excitement for the SA has gone because the gameplay is now boring. I think they're spending too much time on server stuff that no one cares about. Obviously it should improve things due to getting rid of hackers, however games like Planetside 2 still have plenty of hackers and SOE are a much bigger studio, I still wonder how the Dayz team will cope with the whole thing. Really SA should have been focused on getting a single client out, adding new features all the time to keep people interested and developing this server stuff in the background. Instead Dayz has been allowed to go stale and people have gotten bored of waiting. I just have to wonder as well, if the new server stuff is all they've added in, what is there to get people excited for the SA? Looking at the footage I've seen so far, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot that is new, in fact lots of stuff looks worse. So again if the focus is just on the server stuff, most people don't care about it, it's hard to get excited for it. If the SA is just the same then all my friends who are burnt out from Dayz, they're still not gonna care because it's exactly the same. I think it's taken too long, people have moved on, become burnt out from Dayz and the direction should have been on a single client, new features while doing this stuff in the background. How long will it be delayed for? The end of the year is very busy and I just cannot see my friends caring now, if my friends aren't playing then there is little reason for me to as the game is boring on your own.

Will the new map add anything interesting to see other than Cherno and Elektro?
scaramoosh posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People love to explore big cities in a game like this and these two come the closest, even though they're quite small. So all I notice now is everyone spawns around these two areas and if they don't they just find the nearest place to vault off of. People barely go north because the rest of the map is so boring, small villages don't offer anything and they make up the rest of the map other than Zino which you never really spawn anywhere near. Without vehicles there isn't any reason to go anywhere tbh, especially now they removed the big sniper rifles. Items I used to find in the game don't seem, to be in anymore, I haven't even seen NVGs or a Ghilie in months, I haven't seen a vehicle in months either....... were they taken out or something? So I find there is even less reason to go anywhere other than Cherno and Elektro because the only fun thing to do now is kill people. I hope that the new map adds like a River running through the middle to give an excuse to use boats and plant a city in the middle of the map. I hope maybe there will be big buildings to explore like a shopping centre or something, I hope loot will be fixed because right now it just seems so borked, the only time I find loot really now is off hackers. Tbh though someone needs to take that Take on Helicopters map and flesh it out for Dayz, would be amazing. -
Do the zombies still fucking spawn inside buildings and don't move out?
-
Is infection still in the game? I wont be playing until it is gone or antibiotic spawns are common. All that kept happening was you'd get tagged from like 10m away, oh look I have infection, well I'll vault off the nearest tall building and run back to get my stuff. It just isn't fun.

So zombies are just a nuisance again in 1.7.7.1
scaramoosh replied to kumando's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The problem of 1.7.7 is it made melee weapons useless thanx to the Viral zeds and the lack of antibiotics. As soon as you got an infection, you might as well just comit suicide...... it just wan't fun. Also zeds could just hit you from 10ft away as you run past them...... was dumb. -
Thank you SO SO much for this patch
scaramoosh replied to PimpinSmurf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It made melee weapons useless because you're likely to get hit and get an infection, at which point you might as well suicide. -
One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
scaramoosh posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
http://uk.gamespot.c...3-2013-6410300/ After watching this It just looks to me like it's become too fluid like COD or something and I don't like that. The looting looks way too fast now, I liked the idea of having to rummage around, however being able to just walk into the area with the inventory open and have it all appear is terrible. Also I find the new crosshair and the speed of how you can shoot and run around without and animation transitions to just encourage more COD like run and gunning, the animations in general just seem really poor and far too quick. The worst thing of all though is the shooting looks weak as shit, I mean there is no kick back, no screen shake, there doesn't seem to be any reason to take aim like your character isn't out of breath from running. I loved this about Dayz based on ARMA 2, how the shooting feels so powerful, it felt like you had to take time to aim, you couldn't just run and gun. It just looks it's weak like pea shooters, again it just looks like COD shooting. I just hope it doesn't end up like this, I want it to feel much more like ARMA, that game got the shooting right. Edit: Also looting needs to take time, it cannot be quick because right now if you kill someone you have to make the choice of looting them and risk dying or waiting to see if a friend of theirs pops out. If you can just run up and quickly transfer everything like you can currently do in that alpha, it'll just ruin PVP in the game so much. -
One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What I don't understand though is how you can go backwards, that is my worry is they're making these changes in an effort to appeal to more people, when really it isn't the step in the right direction. -
One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes but you can still see he can feel the power of the gun, my point is you need to convey the gun is powerful otherwise it just isn't satisfying and atm it feels like a pea shooter in the game. Like I said they need to exaggerate certain things as we cannot feel the gun like you can in real life. -
One thing that has me worried about the Standalone...
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree that Dayz (the Mod) is glitchy and the movement isn't perfect like how you get stuck on door frames and in general moving around in buildings isn't very fun. However I feel like the SA has gone too far the other way, the very fact you can now run and shoot bothers me, it just promotes the whole COD style of gameplay. I like the inventory system the way it is, it just adds to the game because it takes time to loot which is also time you could die. So many times I've killed someone and waited to see if a friend comes, gone to loot them and died like 30 seconds into looting them. If all of a sudden I can walk up to their body, quickly drag everything into my inventory, then that ruins the experience. I feel like in real life it would take time to go through their pockets and their bags and then find space in your own. I dunno I just feel like Dayz is turning into a game based on say the Frostbite engine, rather than one made on the ARMA engine. The fun of Dayz for me is all the little things, if you got rid of these subtle mechanics then it just becomes another bland shooter. I mean the zombies running and jumping........ like why? What does that add other than having to make movement speed faster so you can dodge them? Zombies need to be slower if anything, maybe then the game could cope with not making them look so ridiculous.
