Were vehicles patched out of Dayz?
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You shouldn't be able to save them, if you haven't used one in a certain amount of time they should despawn and respawn at some random road side location. -
50-70fps in ULTRA BF4, should I be fine for DayZ SA?
scaramoosh replied to Kastlefeer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No BF4 is optimized. -
The graphics always being on low is a worrying sign of poor performance. I don't get why he always has blur on, it also looks like he doesn't have his resolutions matching as it just looks horrible. How does he play like that? It just looks like it's running at 240p upscaled.
-
I hope Dean stops playing with the screen so blurry it looks like you're drunk in GTA IV....... Looks terrible.
-
It's the developers problem as bad beta feedback = less people buying... There will be loads of Youtube videos saying it is crap and if you can pay for it, people don't look at it like a beta any more.
-
If it launches in 2013 it'll be so broken, they've waited this long, I don't think there is any point in rushing now, you only have one first impression.

Will DAYZ standalone early access be coming to Steam?
scaramoosh replied to thedeathstroke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oh yeah £7.99 per can. -
Will DAYZ standalone early access be coming to Steam?
scaramoosh replied to thedeathstroke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nope it's Origin only and EA will be charging the small price of £55 for the Standard Edition or £129 for the Digital Deluxe edition and since it comes with the ability to play online, that's the version you will have to get. Then two weeks later 2 map packs will be launched so you really will want to buy their Dayz Premium service for the small price of £40. -
Looks a lot better, I just hope we can turn all the stupid post processing/blur and HDR effects off as I hate all that shit.

What stops people taking SA features over to the mod?
scaramoosh posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So SA doesn't support mods which means the mod will stay more popular as people do not like standard Dayz as much as custom servers. This is probably due to everyone having their own specific idea to what Dayz is all about and each custom server has different mods and people can find their fave, Also though modders can take more risks than the official game because they don't have to worry about breaking the game, so modders will always be one step ahead. With that in mind, what stops modders from porting SA features over to the mod? If that happens then there is no point to SA... -
They need to be fixed before they make them harder, like they glitch around all over the place and aren't any fun to fight.

What stops people taking SA features over to the mod?
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But SA is using ARMA 2 and the ARMA 3 engine is just an evolution of it and why they've been able to take stuff from ARMA 3 and put it into ARMA 2 for Dayz. The server side stuff cannot be that complicated, there will still be server clients, so surely people can just take the server side zombie content and port it over and it will just use more cpu or whatever, but that ain't a problem. I highly doubt they're making Dayz into an MMO with super computers running it... -
Quick status update for week 8 November
scaramoosh replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I'm disappointed by the FPS issues, ARMA 3 was a total flop, was meant to be an improvement and yet it runs worse than ARMA 2, I don't think I've ever hit over 30fps in either game and I have an 780 + 4770k now and the games run worse than my older PC :\ Just license out a better engine. I don't get the argument of A.I either, the A.I is shit, Dead Rising 3 has thousands on screen at once and they act far better. People saying zombies drop FPS in Dayz when there are like 5 on the screen....... I just don't believe it, that or there is something deeply wrong with the A.I. Apparently the system has been changed for SA and yet the FPS issues are still there... Like wtf is going on? I could forgive it if this was pushing the boundaries but like we have GTA V on consoles getting a smoother frame rate with far more going on, even in online and we have BF4 online with 64 players with destruction and everything, yet I get over 100FPS maxed out there with MSAA turned up. People then blame the map size, no it isn't that, you'd still get the same fps issues on small Dayz maps.. I'm not going to buy the SA until it is running at a smooth 60FPS on my machine, I could forgive a mod, I'm not going to forgive a full release game. -
My DayZ Experience - 15 Months Later
scaramoosh replied to Lemondog (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why would I play it? Dayz is a frustrating and very broken experience that only showed potential with development. Once they canned the development of the mod for the SA then what is the point in playing? Just becomes boring knowing you have to wait 6 months for the smallest of patches. -

Will Dayz SA spend a year of development not fixing the two main issues from Dayz?
scaramoosh posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
ARMA 3 is a shit pile filled with broken promises, it's probably my biggest disappointment of the year, hoping they would fix the issues from ARMA 2 and they just didn't. They kept saying performance would be the biggest thing they focus on and it's worse than ARMA 2, I get 20-30FPS on a 4770k, 780, 16gb ram, ssd etc etc. All we got was a game engine that runs poorly, there isn't any game there and trying to find a fun server is like a needle in a haystack because they couldn't be bothered to make good game modes of their own. Every time I see Dayz SA all I notice are the two problems I wanted fixed and that's 1. Zombies and 2. Performance. If they aren't fixed by release I have to wonder what the year has been for? The top reason why I don't play is the zombies, the performance would be the icing but I noticed to get the frame rate stable they had to play the last video out without the zombies, everything before that it has looked about 20fps and worse. The Mod already has made zombies really annoying in recent months with the whole infection thing and how like every other hit gives you it. The developers can lie all they want about the infection rates but all I know is it caused all my friend who were still playing to quit. Judging by the annoying jumping of zombies in the SA, they're going to be even worse and they still suck at path finding, like how hard is it to make zombie A.I? Even Warz did a better job lol. The whole MMO server thing IMO is something I don't care for, I'm happy with how the game works now and I barely have a problem with hackers, I just pick good servers. It's also something that could be bad for the hit detection, the frame rate, lag, customizability... like if you cannot mod it then it's a huge step back because playing on all the modded servers is what makes the game good. So how that goes is either going to be really good or really bad. One thing is for sure though, it needs mod support to fix all the crap the developers do wrong with it, this is why private servers are way more popular because the way Dayz went was shit and modders are doing a far better job. -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdcVPKD803E Like seriously he fires in one location and suddenly the whole item is damaged? How does that vest just fall apart from 2 shots? Those things can take quite a beating from what I've seen. Also why do items suddenly break like the magazines even though they couldn't have possibly been hit where you fired? Why is the shirt destroyed from a few shots? I fucking slid down the road coming off my Motorcycle at a high speed and my clothes were damaged but they were mostly fine, I bet in SA I would be completely naked and probably have an infection and then die because antibiotics are nowhere to be found. It is way too gamey and looks shit frankly, I'm not gonna spend my time looking for a new pair of trainers because I might get an injury just because I was shot in the arm and some how my trainers were damaged. Why would you get a foot injury anyways from worn out trainers? At worst you'll get blisters, tbh I walk around all the time in bare feet and I'm fine, if I get a bit of glass in my foot, I pull it out and get over it, but I bet in this system I'll get aids and die.

Then why are we getting infected from being hit by a zombie instantly? Surely it should be the would the infects you if you do not treat it and not the hit from the zombie. Bandages don't cure broken bones either, they should be there to dress a wound and prevent infection, I just assumed the antibiotics were there as something to cure the infection from the zombies as they couldn't be bothered to put more items in the game. Lets just say this, the game is in no way realistic, it should be about fun and right now infection has cause everyone I know who played, to not ever want to come back and play again. It's true most of them (including myself) were getting bored of the game anyways, the map is boring as hell, KoS is boring and there has been no new content since last year. However the infection shit was the icing on the cake and it's probably more down to the zombies being broken that anything, however don't add the mechanic in until the zombies are fixed. They don't animate right, they're so zerky and move about all over the place and half the time you get hit randomly from 10ft away even though they didn't do an animation. When you're trying to sneak through a town, if you alert one you know you cannot do anything about it and have to run to a building and then kill a whole host of them. There is no consistency in how they spot you either, so sneaking around, often you feel cheated when one spots you and so you just learn, run through the town because being stealthy sucks in the game. Now basically Dayz has become, ignore the zombies, run straight past them, keep on running, go into a building, get the loot, run out the other door, go into a tree to lose them or up a hill and to the next town.. I'd rather lose the zombies, put the original A.I in the game and just have enemy A.I wondering around and have them programmed to look for loot.
-
Just get rid of it and make zombies HS only or tougher, it's all that was needed. How realistic is it to just cure the infection with antibiotics anyways? If that was the answer in the first place then why did the world go to shit? Surely it spread because no known antibiotic could cure it? Really though the Zombie A.I is borked, that is the main problem with the game and has always been the number one issue. It's why I want SA so I can finally have zombies that are fun to fight, if they're not fixed then there is no value in SA for me. I'm sick of having to run to a building just so I can have a fair fight because out in the open their don't animated smoothly and can randomly hit you without an animation. Right now every time I aggro a zombie it's like "oh ffs just keep running, find a tree or a building" and now you've made them worse, they've ruined the game. Ever since you made it so you get infected all the time, all my friends have quit, we never got infected before. Until the last major patch 1.7.7.1 or whatever it was I never got infected from when I started playing last year in may until that patch... The game isn't fun any more and tbh all I do instead of looking for loot now is just look to kill players because it's just less effort than dealing with the zombies.

Item damage in Dayz SA looks dumb...
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If I don't complain now, it'll stay that way when the game releases, so now is the time to complain... stop saying it's alpha, Dean Hall wants feedback and he's getting it. In theory it's all very realistic and great, in practise it becomes annoying and actually isn't very realistic. In the game time is accelerated in the fact that you're not going to spend 24/7 living in it like you would if you were in a real war, so the mechanics have to be exaggerated. However when this happens then you end up babying everything, like if anyones played Project Zomboid, it just isn't fun always constantly dealing when hunger, tiredness and whatever else, just becomes annoying. So I think stuff like clothes should be cosmetic, guns should degrade and jam and have to be cleaned, that's fine but it should be a simple process, not having to go round the map trying to find tools. Where is the fun in trainers degrading and having too get new ones because you've become infected in the foot? 1. I've used the same pairs of trainers for 3 years almost every day for work and they are still fine and 2. I walk around in bare feet all the time, I've cut my feet and they've been muddy, I did not need antibiotics as I'm not old or a baby...... that to me is a pointless mechanic. -
Melee is easy, however the answer isn't infection, all that happens is you risk the chance of getting infected and then you might as well suicide off a building. It's a boring mechanic that has ruined so many gameplay sessions with friends, maybe that's why they've let you spawn where you want now but that just causes new problems. Just get rid of infection, it's a crap mechanic or at least make antibiotics less rare as in real life they're so common.
