Yeh T doesn't work for me but there is no fire option in the control options...

Why do we already have so many 24/7 daylight servers?
scaramoosh replied to Gingerizhere's topic in General Discussion
Cause night time sucks in this game, every one turns up the gamma so what is the point of having it? -
Found it rather accurate tbh...

They always need to go the opposite way to which you're opening them, it is really annoying having them push you out of the way all the time. A lot of the time as well I'm opening a door and it traps me between the door and the wall and then pushes me through the wall. I just think having them always open away from you is a great solution.
-
You could say that about a lot of shit in games, how many zombies do you know in real life? It is an easily solution to the problem, that is all.
-
Has it always been this way? I've never spawned as a female before, until now and noticed they sound like males..

There, edited if somehow what I said didn't make sense...

I'm constantly finding buildings that used to have loot, now have nothing and that is not because of the loot not respawning. It is really getting annoying because I feel like it reduces my want for exploration, now I don't see any point running around in the woods because I know I'll never find anything and not even Deer Huts have anything any more. I saw a building on the map at the end of train tracks and I spent like 30 mins running there and you couldn't enter it and there was no loot there. I just find that really annoying because you're not rewarded for moving around the map. Loot needs to come back to buildings that once had it like those Deer Huts.

I'm not sure if other Razer products have this, I'm only speaking for the keyboard I have. If you press fn + F11 while holding W you'll get autorun until you press F11 again and then one of the WASD keys.

READ THIS - The truth on the hunger/thirst issue
scaramoosh replied to *Exile* Sami's topic in General Discussion
I dunno I can eat/drink, I get green text and then it says I'm hungry/thirsty 2 mins later. Getting really annoying for me now though. -
I still cannot join game to my friends, they cannot to me either on Steam even though you said they can...

What I think the night should look like;
scaramoosh replied to victusmortuus's topic in General Discussion
The thing is cameras do not see what your eyes see, every sensor is different and every setting is different to allow light to the sensor. Once your eyes have adjusted to night time, you can see quite a lot with the moon and the stars out. -

I hated it at first, that was just my reaction because it was different to the mod and I didn't quite get it. However after playing for several hours, I get the UI now, I get how often you have to drink/eat and I get things like where I have to go for loot. While not all the systems are great, I do not think any changes should be made just yet. People are still getting used to the game and there is nothing worse than making rash changes based on first opinions. I mean the Unconscious thing is something that happened to me once and never again. It's pretty easy to just eat and drink when told, I don't think having UI indicators is really a great change either. Playing Breaking Point, when your stomach rumbles, you're hungry and the more it rumbles, the more urgent you need to eat, the same goes for being out of breathe and needing water. I much prefer that, it feels way more natural than half arsing a UI indicator like what the mod had.. Not finding loot? Well travel around the map more, I'm finding tons of loot by just travelling to places I wouldn't normally go. I think the spawn system doesn't help as most people spawn in the south, however I think we can all help by spreading out, I don't think spawn rates need to increase. I think there is too much loot when it comes to certain types like weapons such as the M4 or the masks, they're everywhere and they're too common now. I've really settled down into the game now and I'm loving it. I personally think there are better things to focus on... - Allowing us to easily see what server we're on once we're in game, or just being able to invite friends via Steam. - Fixing Zombie A.I - Fixing the horrible melee system - Vehicles etc etc. -

Are you looking under beds and things? I find that I was so used to looking at spots on the floor, I was missing loads of loot that was hidden or even on shelves. I've ran all across the map, I've found like 5/6 bottles, 3 canteens and 20 odd cans of pop. I've found the canteens and bottles to last a long time, the cans are just throw away, don't last very long, but I've been popping them every 15 mins or so of heavy running and been fine. Each time I pass a pond or house, I look for a water source and check for food. Canned food lasts for ages, all other types doesn't really do all that much, like the cans of pop, you eat the rest of the stuff once and throw it away. Maybe I'm just spending way more time searching for this stuff that other people and that isn't fun for most. -

Oh, nothing shows up for me when I try to invite my friends from the Steam chat :( I ended up trying to copy and paste the IP, that wouldn't work either. An other time I was in the game and I forgot what the server was called and I just couldn't find any way to bring up the server info. I know those are big changes and I know bugs need fixing, I just don't think changes to systems that have just been put in place need fixing right now. Lots of people complain because it is different or because it is hard or inconvenient, I don't see any of those good reasons. Do I think the chat system is great for telling you that you need to eat or drink? No, but I don't think a UI indicator is good either. Something as simple as what Breaking Point does would be a far better option. There is a lot wrong there, but quick bad solutions isn't great, especially if it makes things worse. I used to play Star Wars Galaxies back in beta and when it launched, I loved what that game was doing, sadly it seemed like no one else did. There were just crazy rash decisions made due to forum whining and the game became more and more dumbed down as a result. They kept just putting in quick "fixes" in and they ended up becoming the norm, in the end they got lost in a sea of quick fixes and it became such a mess. I just never want to see the demise of another online game again, especially when we have no control over the servers. World of Warcraft was ruined, EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies, Planetside and maybe a few others I cannot remember, just all based on making changes due to initial player feedback. An online game is a living thing, it needs to be treated as a world with a proper ecosystem, where one change has a knock on effect. This wasn't a big deal with the mod because everyone just hosted their own servers and could do what they wanted. With the SA though, it's different and I don't want to be driven away by stupid changes like a load of other games. I think CCP are the only ones to every get it right with EVE Online, they've treated that game like a world, if something doesn't work, they swallow their pride and they roll back, I've never see any other developer do that. Any ways, I love the game, I'm jut so jaded from past experiences lol. It's not fun to invest hundreds of pounds, thousands of hours and then be driven away :| FUCK YOU SOE! -
I've been running about for several hours, been fine. Here is a tip... When it says "I feel hungry", eat, when it says "I feel thirsty", drink, when he says "I feel tired", rest... It isn't exactly hard. Like I said before, people are too used to the mod and running around everywhere without food and drink.

Yeh they need to make night time fun to actually play at normal gamma settings. -
I've not had any problems myself, http://s22.postimg.org/7a62gosmp/221100_screenshots_2013_12_18_00001.jpg all kitted up, got so much loot on me. Probably because I spawned in Stary somehow, I dunno if you can spawn anywhere on the map now, but I spawned there and ran to NW airfield and just got so much gear. I've spent a couple hours running on these train tracks, got lost, ended up at NE airfield, loads more gear and now heading south and I'm at Factory fully kitted out and ready to kill some bandits... though I dunno if you can tell in SA? Maybe if they shoot at you is a good sign lol. My friend keeps spawning down South though, those seem like the most popular spawns, so no wonder why people complain about loot, especially since you pass out fast without food and drink. I think spawns should be more balanced tbh, that would fix the loot problem. If anything I think stuff spawns too much, everything is far too common, it would be really nice if the helmets and masks were rare, but I'm carrying spares lol, you find so many.

SA is better, it just takes time to getting used to it.
scaramoosh posted a topic in General Discussion
I didn't like it at first but once you work out the changes it is much better. It does feel like a bit of a side step in a way though, where they've just replaced one clunky system for another, I guess this is just all early base work for something more polished though. When I first started playing I was like "I hate this", now I've been playing non stop since release, I'm loving it. The UI takes the most time to get used to, it works better than the original UI but it is rather clunky and broken atm. There is a lot of dragging stuff to your hands and back and wondering why you cannot refill bottles (they have to be in your hand) and wondering why stuff is staying on your action bar even though you dropped it. All this stuff works, it's just not automatic like it would be in other games, for me now I like it as it means it takes time to manage your inventory, which really leaves you open to risk when looting like the original inventory UI. I noticed lots of people complaining about being unconscious randomly, this obviously isn't random. People are used to running forever without eating or drinking, having gotten used to it, when you see a message saying you need to eat or drink, always do it right away, never ignore it. You can also have one can of drink or a banana and it doesn't instantly fill you up like the mod, you have to keep eating and drinking until green writing pops up saying you're ok. This isn't ideal, but collapsing unconscious isn't random, you just have to get used to this system until they come up with something better... though I kinda like not having a boring UI bar you have to keep topping up. I think the best system would be what breaking point does where you hear your stomach rumble or you're out of breathe which indicates needing food or water. There are a few things which are broken though... - Zombies do not roam - melee is just horrible, even worse than before - zombies/loot doesn't respawn. I think personally these are the things that need the most attention. I also do not like how you can right click to aim, but it makes you walk instead of run, you can also press space to do chance stance between running and walking and you can press c (I think) to switch your pace too. This is too many buttons and at first I was always wondering why I wasn't running any more and clicking through all the buttons. I'm used to it now and have worked it out, however for the average joe, they'll get frustrated, say the game is shit and quit. I cannot blame them as the controls are still very clunky, even for an alpha, they do not need to work this way. Walking through buildings is a lot smoother, you wont be getting stuck on door frames any more, however you'll probably get stuck trying to go up stairs a few times. I tried to press space for jump (which tbh it should be) but it's V, only v has two purposes and sometimes it vaults you and sometimes it jumps... it's a bit weird and I can never tell which one my character will choose. Vicinity is a bit broken too, you can be looking right at something and it just wont appear. Pressing F as an action button, in itself is ok, I just find it a bit annoying though as a lot of the time the icon will not show when trying to climb up a ladder or open a gate. This happened in Dayz Mod too, however in that I just used the mouse wheel and it would find the option I need, In the SA since it changed to the F key, all mouse wheel tends to do is want to change my weapon or ammo instead. The new items are amazing, the lighting is amazing, sadly night time still sucks, basically you have to gamma everything up because you know everyone else has done that and you cannot be at a disadvantage..... this ruins the game at night time. The servers also seem to be all set to the same time zone, which is annoying as night time is rather unplayable due to the gamma exploit.... Overall it is really good, it does need vehicles though, but Dean said they're coming, I just hope people cannot hog them all and hide them in corners of the map again like the mod. I'm enjoying it more than the mod though which is good, it just takes time to get used to it. For me the biggest things that need fixing straight away are the 3 things I listed... No respawns, horrible melee and zombie A.I. What I really love is no one is shooting on sight any more which is great. I'm sure this is due to the game being new and people just getting used to it, however I really hope it stays this way as it reminds me of what Dayz used to be, before it turned into a Death Match COD game. -
Dean play Breaking Point for ARMA 3. It's very clear cut, you breath heavy, you need to drink, you hear your stomach rumble, you need to eat. Also picking stuff up in Breaking Point is a lot easier.
-
I don't have any problems with the current system, when it says you're thirsty or hungry, eat or drink....... It isn't hard, I just think people are too used to never having to in the mod.

The Gamma exploit needs to be fixed before anything else!
scaramoosh posted a topic in General Discussion
Every single person uses it, which means you need to use it too and it basically just ruins night time and makes the game look so bad. You have no choice because either you use it or die to every one else using it. So for night time here in the UK at least (I think all the servers are set to GMT) Dayz is unplayable for this reason and you cannot go to US servers or whatever as they all follow the same time NH time zone. It is annoying because all my friends are like "I'm going back to the mod" as soon as night time comes, as every one works it really means we never get a session going. -
The Steam overlay bug doesn't work any more like it does the mod and it is so tedious holding that button down. I really do not see any reason not to add it as it requires no skill to run and the trade off with autorun is you're not active at the controls, so you will be slow to react. I've just set up a Macro on my Keyboard so I get Autorun of my own, however it's just an annoying step that doesn't need to be there.

Getting rid of the military loot and store at Stary has made all that part of the map useless.

1. Not being able to have Day only servers is annoying, the gamma/brightness issue still hasn't been fixed as seen.... http://s24.postimg.org/upbwnjhwl/2013_12_16_00002.jpg 2. Melee has been made worse, before it was rather satisfying and you felt like you hit where you aimed, with the new system it feels so clunky and bad that I just choose to run away instead, it is far inferior to what was a bad system before any ways. 3. People are talking on their mics and it seems like they're broadcasting over the whole server, it's very annoying hearing someone shout MOTHERFUCKER over what I'm guessing is a bugged side chat, as it was meant to be disabled. 4. The inventory system and controls are worse, It just doesn't work half the time and bugs out a lot, like weapons you drop stay on that action bar at the bottom. Also vicinity doesn't show stuff even though I'm clearly looking at it, I'm confused when I press f to pick stuff up, where it is meant to be going... sometimes it goes to me hand and sometimes to my inventory? I had the whole system it's so bad, the mod is far better. I keep dragging stuff and it isn't clear where it is meant to go :S 5. The zombies are bugged, they keep making sounds even though they're not aggro'd, the walk under buildings instead of going up stairs and they all stay still instead of roam. They don't see as good either, have a hard time attacking you and keep walking to where you were all the time. There are also hardly any zombies around... 6. Where is the loot? It seems rather scarce, going into a building that you know no one has been in before and there being no loot on any level is just annoying. 7. I hate the new chat system of giving you feedback, I fall unconscious all the time and it's like wtf? I've drank, I've eaten.... 8. No way to tell what server you're on after you joined it? Really annoying as characters don't seem to carry over and if I want friends to play I have to remember. 9. Only night time servers? I tried joining US and EU ones and all are night time. I know this is an alpha and there will be tons of bugs, just giving feedback. I would take deans advice and wait, it isn't as good or as playable as the mod is yet. Obviously I'm not complaining, I knew what I was buying, this is just feedback..
