I don't like the Hunger/Thirst system, it is just something to annoy you and is the same reason why I don't like Project Zomboid. Right now they're just arbitrary pointless systems designed to give you something to do as there is very little content in the game. They aren't even systems you can predict either, sometimes I'll need to eat like every 5 mins and it's like OH FFS! I don't even get why the text comes up to tell you, Breaking Point for ARMA 3 works perfectly fine just using sound effects. At the same time the Blood system is so broken and convoluted right now that I just don't even bother with it. If I'm low on health, It's quicker and easier to go and commit suicide... I don't see the point of having eating and drinking and a blood system. I'd much rather blood was gone, there was health instead and you had to eat to regain health and thirst was there to reduce the shake after long runs and to keep your stamina up. In fact that's exactly what the Mod was for me..

I just think the blood system needs to go...
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
My problem is, in real life I feel it, I don't feel it in game and so it isn't fun. Also though in real life I can not drink for 48 hours and not eat for like a week or two, yet in game it's every frigging 5 mins, just like how my clothes seem to just fall off me every 5 mins. I jog 10 miles a day with my dog and I don't have a drink throughout that, I don't eat and when I get back, I'm not thirsty or hungry, yet in Dayz I would have had to eaten/drink like 20 times. It isn't a fun system, it isn't realistic and it shouldn't function how it does. The same goes for blood really as if I got shot, I'd probably die from a single bullet, either due to infection or from it hitting a major artery or organ. The least likely thing that would happen is I'd lose some blood but be fine and need a blood bag. Again if I was hit by an axe, I'd probably just die in one hit or lose a limb or something, I wouldn't be fine and need a blood bag. I just think it's retarded to think this game is realistic, claim I'm some COD fan even though the last one I played was 2 and write my opinions off.. -
Tired of running in Dayz, here is the solution
scaramoosh replied to weedmasta's topic in General Discussion
They need to just put an auto run key in, it isn't fair on people who don't have good keyboards. -
Are many people still playing the Dayz Mod?
scaramoosh replied to Suhr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We didn't expect the SA to be worse than the mod, don't get why they took so much out tbh. -
My PC is unchanged but my 780 is off being repaired and so I'm having to use the 4770k GPU and the game runs at like 5fps with everything set to low and the resolution at like 500p. BF4 I get 30-40FPS, CS:GO I get 80, EVE Online I get 50 etc. It isn't a bad little GPU for playing games on low to medium settings, however the one game that it cannot run is Dayz. I would so love for this to be fixed because it has to be something wrong with the engine causing such poor FPS. Changing the graphical settings doesn't seem to change much, only AO, Res and AA have any impact... Needs to be looked at since there are a lot of Laptops out there of people who are using these sorts of intel graphics.

Why does this game run so bad on the Haswell GPU?
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
Played F1 2013 at 50fps with everything set to low, still looked good though, got playing Red Orchestra 2 and NS, again on low but looked alright and those were playable too... It's just Dayz that has the problem, not the Haswell GPU. -

scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
Yes and mine is being repaired atm, however the 4770K iGPU isn't a bad performer, it's only really bad in this game. -

Right now you can shot someone in the head and suddenly everything on them is randomly damaged. Items decay for no reason, it really makes no sense for a lot of the items to ever get damaged unless you've been alive for 80 days or something. I've got a pair of boots I've walked 9 miles every day for the past few years and they're only now starting to show signs that I'm probably going to need to replace them. Why do my clothes randomly just fall off me? Again most of the clothes you find are really heavy duty, I've got like 15 year old coats I wear and am never going to replace them. I can understand if I got hacked up by an axe, however I'm probably going to die from one blow of that any ways. It is a feature that really makes no logical sense to have for most items, it isn't even fun to look for clothes and why do tins even bother getting damaged? I can understand druit and stuff becoming rotten, however it is always rotten, I haven't seen a good one yet... so what is the point really? Fruit takes weeks to rot and yet according to the game it's like 30 mins. I can understand stuff like guns jamming (which they don't) and needing cleaning (which you cannot) and I can understand having guns which require less maintenance like the AK47 would be a cool feature. However having general damage like being shot and for some reason every time attachments and scopes break...... just isn't fun. Why is this even in before it is finished to work properly? If it cannot ever work that precise, then don't bother having it in the game. Things should decay, I'm all for that, however currently it is just something that is so broken it should be disabled. At this point all my friends have just gone back to the mod, I know it's an alpha and all that, however I didn't expect the game to made no steps forward and 100 back. The network stuff doesn't even seem to be of any improvement, in fact stuff like white listed servers fixed more problems than the SA has and all this new network stuff shows for it is loot and zombie problems and recently I've been getting a lot of lag too.

Do people still care about loot and dying any ways? If I die I have all the loot I lost within 20 mins... death isn't scary any more, Dayz isn't new and none of us care, it's just an annoyance now.
-
It has nothing to do with me killing on sight or not, I can get shot and everything breaks and suddenly my clothes are rags or I can just play and every degrades within a few hours......... it just isn't fun. IT has had no impact on KoS, I've still been shot at by every single person I've seen, so I just don't take the risk any more, I kill and will always kill as soon as I see someone.

I haven't got a problem with the other guns, the M4 however is too inaccurate, that gun in real life is meant to hit targets at 500m. Obviously though if you've been running and tired, I get why you miss with it, however even in perfect conditions in this game the bullets spread like mad.

I guess I found a First Person only server just now and I was reminded why everyone switched to Third Person in the first place. Constantly you'll think you're past a door frame, go to turn left or right and suddenly you'll be behind the door frame again, like constantly I'm fighting with getting out of door frames lol. Every time you move around the camera goes all crazy and your arms animate all over the place, it feels like I'm not in control of my character, so clunky. If I turn the FoV up, I get the camera glitching into myself every time I zoom in and out on my gun. If I want to look behind me I constantly have a stupid bag blocking my view.. which might be what the view is in real life, but I hate it. I never feel like I have any peripheral vision in First Person view, why I love Third Person so much because it gives you it like in real life, in First Person, you just feel like you're looking through goggles or something. The worst thing is the clunky movement though, how you do not notice at all if you're jumping over something or not as the camera doesn't change like in every other first person game. I just hope I can filter them out of the SB.

Playing this game as an FPS is the worst.
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
It isn't exactly the same, it gives you a little bit more and you get a better sense of awareness of what is around you like in real life. In the SA it's so hard to get a sense of what is around you, your hearing in game doesn't seem as good as real life and nor is the FoV. The problem is if you turn the FoV up in first person, it looks really odd for one but you just get tons of graphical glitches from the camera clipping through your model. -
I don't get it, I've had NW airfield to myself, ran to NE, no one there, saw a big ship on the coast and no one was there, ran all the way down south to Cherno and no one was there. Where is every one? Elecktro/Cherno used to be massive hot spots and now they aren't, Zino was dead as usual, I just cannot seem to find any one. It is really hard to tell where other players are in the SA though as there seems to be no footsteps like the mod, that or the environment sounds are just so loud. In the mod you could always hear people, but they're like ghosts in SA. So am I running past everyone and not noticing? I don't think no vehicles helps either, it is so tedious running everywhere, I guess people are bored of travelling and then become bored of the game and quit out? I notice a lot of people who are in and out constantly, one min the server can be populated and the next loads of people have left, then it becomes populated again and the cycle goes on. I'm just so bored! It's like a worse game that when the Mod first released and you had to wait 30 mins to load into the server, I don't understand how it could get released with less content than the mod and twice as broken.

I haven't seen a single person for days..
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
I haven't died from a single person since the game came out, the only thing that has killed me is that unconscious thing on the first day, even then that was a mistake I only made once. -
Playing this game as an FPS is the worst.
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
In real life you can peak round things using a mirror, reflections or just poking your head out slightly. You cannot do this in games as you don't have the pure one to one controls as you do over your own body in real life. So I just see third person and looking over or around objects as a way to offer this as first person feels far more restrictive than real life. -
Yeh happening to all of us I guess.

It's on by default as well which I guess most people do not bother to turn off and then complain about FPS. For me I'm running a 780, 4770k and 16gb ram and having this one setting on drops my FPS by 20 on average and it adds very little to the visuals so it is worth turning off.

Ambient Occlusion is the biggest FPS drain.
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
In the game though it doesn't make that much of a difference. -

The friends i have who play have quit the SA and gone back to the mod because it just has more. -
How about Balota airfield military loot getting removed?
scaramoosh replied to Twixxer's topic in General Discussion
This needs to happen, people just don't go anywhere else any more. -
Before people moan I know this is an alpha. I was so excited when it launched and for a couple of days after I played a lot with friends. However I had a hard time getting all my gaming friends to buy it, most didn't as they got bored of Dayz with the mod, so I only had 2 other friends who would play. Come day three and they both stopped and said they're bored of Dayz in general (as they didn't go back to the mod) and because it's just not enough of a leap forward, it's a leap backwards in many cases. I found myself bored after that too, I played a day longer and I had all the loot the game has to offer for high end like what do you do now? The only thing the game promotes is to kill other players, if you don't then what else is there? I could try to help people out, but that isn't really fun as most the time they shoot you, but also there is nothing to do with them but kill other people. I just realised they took too long to release the SA, I become bored of this game with the mod they allowed me to play for over a year since the SA was originally announced for. I've played that mod like 200 hours and usually with any game you become burnt after that, I've never even played an MMO that long. I kinda just feel like how I do with COD or BF... I've played them too much in the past, I'm done, I need something new.

Does any one else feel burnt out already?
scaramoosh replied to scaramoosh's topic in General Discussion
What made the mod exciting for me was it was hard, I felt threatened and death felt punishing. However now I'm used to it, I can run anywhere really fast, the map doesn't feel endless like it used to and if I die I don't care. The other thing I noticed is players are largely just crap in the SA, I never died once when playing to other players, killed everyone I saw... I had one guy who shot at me, forgot I was there and run past me........ wtf? It also doesn't help that the Zombies might as well not even be there and no vehicles makes getting around rather tedious, I just turn auto run on and make myself a cup of tea. I don't think even with new content that I'll be coming back any time soon, just one of those things where you've played it so much and it is time to move on. Like I've never played a game for more than 20 hours usually, Dayz kept me for 10 times that and the only other game I played for that long was SWG Pre CU. So it did well but I wish they didn't bother with the network stuff, I just don't see what it adds, no one I know cares about it or is even aware. For me hackers wasn't an issue, just join the whitelist thing and sorted...
