The 5 might actually be 4.6xx and the 9 might be 9.4xx, so the damage might be marginally too low to two-shot something. That's about all I can come up with.

Where you're standing. Seriously. As in, right after you connect and it goes through the loading and everything? That's right in front of you. (Although, sometimes, I see the debug plains for some reason.)

You're the one asking for the faulty system. There aren't faults in the system as is. All of the reactions are completely on the actions of the players, not the actions forced by the computer. They have no outside influences based on appearance or action that causes anyone to shoot at that player on a character-by-character basis that a player doesn't choose. If a bandit wants to act genuinely kind and then stab you in the back after they have your hand in pact, they can do that entirely with how they speak and how they act. Any wavering is based on a survivor's opinion on their actions, not their outside appearances that were place on them by the system, simply because that's how the game thinks they'd act. In essence, the system is forcing you into a role. Which would pretty much kill the immersion for me. (Not simply because you're changing a skin, but because the game thinks you would instantly want to look like that, thus negating any use of subterfuge to out-trick the other survivors; this kills what I feel is a very important part of the social game in DayZ.)

Still don't like these skin ideas. It's just shifting the problem, not getting rid of it. Skins just make you stand out in this game, and it's much easier if we can choose what we want to look like when we affiliate ourselves. And hell, even if they're a vigilante, that doesn't mean they don't kill survivors. They might just kill everybody they come across. Not perfect, but at least this idea doesn't mark people using self-defense as the scum of the earth. (Also, I hope you realize just how silly it is to say that all carebears hook up. They'd start turning on each other in such a large group faster than you can say 'beans'.) -
He does make a valid argument. Don't see why we can't just stick to calling it D/Cing, rather than give a term dual meaning where it doesn't need one.
