  1. How about everyday objects, and make them a part of the generic residential spawn too, for the sake of atmosphere/fun clutter? Screwdrivers. Box cutters. Bread knives. etc etc
  2. I am no vet unfortunately, I'm new to both games. Newer here, though.. Obviously. :p

    Eliminate M107 and AS50

I agree that the spawn rate of guns and ammo is irrelevant. In the short run, yes, it has an impact. In the long run, organized groups will have farmed the loot drops to the point where they have this stuff stashed away in vehicles and tents to the point of stupidity. Relying on spawn rate to 'balance' something is idiotic and completely unreliable. It's like adding an overpowered, expensive item to an MMO and expecting the price to balance it. See: CCP and supercapitals in EVE Online. I haven't come across these weapons one way or the other yet, so I won't pass judgement, but if you can't come up with any arguments for them except the drop rate of them and their ammunition, then I can say immediately that something is wrong.
  4. Hello, I'm having the infamous 'waiting for host' issue where no matter what server I try to join, the screen is stuck at a loading picture that says 'waiting for host' infinitely. I've sent my RPT files and everything, but it's been like this for several days now. I don't understand what that email was supposed to do. Not sure what I'm supposed to do, twiddle my thumbs? Yes, I realize this thread exists. However, I have done as instructed, and posted twice in it, without any activity or reaction whether in email or in that thread, so it seems to me that the thread is being ignored and possibly my email has ended up in a spam filter or something.
  5. Not Blue, Shoot It. Of course, there are no blues in this game, but, y'know.. people on Mumble.. if I can tell it's them. :D
  6. I've had this problem as well, but it went away with one of the updates. It has, however, been replaced by 'waiting for host', which does not go away no matter what I do.
  7. I ignored both towns myself because of their horrible reputation. There's nothing in those towns that forces you to loot them. Speaking for myself, I'll shoot anything that moves besides my buddies, but sure, I'd rather shoot people with stuff. Only way to know is to kill 'em and then run through their pockets. :D

    elektro/cherno intended to be manditory?

I did fine just looting deer stands and farms on my way north, but that was in.. 1.7.1.3 I guess. I don't know what the drops are like now.

    Why so much rage?

Its just an example.. factions are good. you dont see people mass killing team mates in battlefield 3 if you perfer. No, and that's why it's nothing compared to this game. Sandbox PVP is unique because of the freedom and the risk. You never know what people will do. You can be betrayed, you can lose everything. Without that, you remove the part that actually makes this game interesting. Basically - no, no carebear infestation of this game. I have faith that with a one-man developer dictator, however, it won't happen.

Start PvP Raids in DayZ! Create HQ

It's about surviving in a world full of zombies first and foremost. If people just want to ignore the zombies and run around killing each other then they should just go and play regular Arma 2. :-/This isn't supposed to be a PvP deathmatch experience with loot. It's supposed to be a hardcore zombie apocalypse survival simulation. Yes, PvP encounters should come into it, and yes there should be some killing involved as well as some cooperation, but it shouldn't become the focus of the game. I'm happy for you that you've found your inner prophet, but I doubt you speak for everyone. If it is about 'surviving in a world full of zombies', then it's a pretty mindless game, so I contend that no; what you are saying is not true for me and many other players. It might be true for you. The PVP in DayZ is interesting *because* of the real risk, *because* of the scavenging. Because you worked for the stuff you have, and so did the other guys. There's real consequence to killing or being killed, and that's what makes it fun. Not just shooting people. Suggesting that people interested in this kind of sandbox PVP with real consequences should 'go play Arma 2' is not helpful, misses the point completely, and is exactly the kind of shitty behavior discouraged by rocket in this thread. Im pretty sure that what he's talking about is Rockets vision about his mod, as he stated himself, this is his vision and he just takes inspiration from the forums. He also stated that this is a survival simulation (Correct me if im wrong). So according to you we are all playing a pretty mindless game. Me, i love it. Let's get some more sand in this box

If you do this while the game still relies on separate-server architecture this will happen: People will see your nice stuff. They will log in to a different server, go where your stuff is, log out, go back into yours, then destroy it. Your stuff is completely indefensible, which means no one would actually invest any time in building anything, even given the opportunity. tl;dr game needs to be single-shard ala EVE before this kind of stuff is viable.

Dayz Full Game "Must Have Feature"

With the caveat of this game somehow getting full and proper funding, and more resources, here's what should happen in.. say, the ARMA 3 incarnation of the game; Single-cluster server. Each contributed server would be a node in the cluster, rather than a separate shard. Ala EVE Online. This would eliminate shit like logging in to a different server and going inside a fortified compound, then logging back in to the previous server to suddenly attack from an impossible position. It would make sure every server had the same settings, and eliminate hacking, private clan servers where people farm indefinitely, etc. The game world would need to be larger, obviously - combining the two islands of ARMA 3 might do the trick. I don't know.
  15. If you can't see at night after adapting your eyes for 15 minutes there is something wrong with you and you need to see a doctor. So do the characters we play in Arma 2, apparently..

    People locking servers with passwords

It's pretty much the only way to actually be able to find a server that works, is updated and has non-retarded settings, so I understand why people do it. There needs to be a tougher whip on server owners to actually push out hotfixes when they're released..

    Hotfix Build 1.7.1.5 Rolling Update

For some reason every single 1.5 server i try to join is stuck at 'waiting for host'. Every single one. Not sure what's up here..
  18. This shit needs to stop. At the very least, let us filter out the servers that have this idiotic feature.
