No. This is a game where the players make the content. The job the developers have, is to provide more tools so that we can do that. This is verbatim what rocket has stated, he knows what's up, and has plans for how to let us do more stuff as players. Not PVE. It is an unsustainable model. 'Quests' and 'missions' grow stale within weeks of being released, whereas open-world tools provide years of emergent content and stories.

No. A million times no. If you have 'PVE' servers you will end up with one out of two, terrible scenarios that are inescapable: 1: people can transition freely between PVE and PVP servers. Loot will be farmed on PVE servers, making loot worthless and removing consequence from death completely. 2: people cannot transition freely between PVE and PVP servers. The community will be split in two, with constant forum e-wars and bullshit. The game is an open-world sandbox where you can do whatever you want. The risk is the same for everyone, making the game tense and making loot valuable. If you change that, you break the game and turn it into a run-of-the-mill shooter.

Very much so. I really enjoy how he commented on the EVE hi/low/null-sec debacle, and how he wants to avoid that with the 'Minecraft' model. No sub fees, and no silly, clunky zone mechanics. Hisec in EVE is really clunky. The problem is they can't change it at all, it's been around too long and any change one way or the other would piss off one or the other half of the subscriber base. Better to avoid it from the start. -

Easy. Aggression timers. Just learn from the only other open-world, sandbox, PVP-anywhere game that exists. Aggression timers, people. If you fire your gun at-fucking-all, you start an aggression timer. Let's say it's 30 seconds. If you fire it and you hit another player, let's say it's ten minutes. Then, you'll have to wait out the timer before you can log out. -

Yes. Yes, it is. You can't even tell if a ghillie suit is worn by a man or a woman. Just use the same model as a temporary measure, geez. -
This is what needs to happen -- it will have to happen as the mod gets closer to standalone, but might as well start doing it now. Instead of pushing things out haphazardly, use a daily, bi-daily or weekly downtime, like EVE does, to update. Every server will have to update, or shut down until it is updated. Every user will have to update on login, or not play.

Even if this was a good idea, which it abso-fucking-lutely isn't, it's impossible to implement. I mean, your idle fantasies are cute and all, but why post about something which is literally impossible to do? This reminds me of the guy who wanted to 'ban' external voice comms. -

Please watch the presentation I linked, where Dean 'rocket' hall specifically states that the game is all about player interaction, whether good or bad, and not PvE. The game was never supposed to primarily be a PvE game. I'm wondering where people are getting this idea from, but it sure isn't from the designer. -

Sniping in a video game is like fishing, or deer stand hunting -- which are both considered normal and healthy activities by anyone except perhaps die-hard vegans. No, you don't stalk your target. Yes, it's still fun. Calling people isolated, disconnected, and accusing them of lacking empathy because they enjoy sniping *in a game* is plainly idiotic and insulting. In the words of a famous Russian hockey player; 'is only game, why you have to be mad?' Clearly you've been pissed off by someone sniping you. Time to realize it's just a game, and stop trying to call people diseased for 'ruining your fun'. Also, start paying attention and don't derp around in the open to then whine when you get killed. It's a post-apocalyptic war zone. Not the Teletubbie Land.

To be fair, there's actually a crapload of AKs in Canada -- especially since importing Norincos is legal there, whereas Chinese imports have been banned in the US. :P -

Sure! I think they should add the CZ-75 too - shocked there isn't one in the base game seeing as the devs are Czech and all. :D What the base game also has is a vz. 58, which I think should be added to the loot pool. It's a neat non-western gun, and does not require additional artwork since it's already in ArmA II CO. -

Agreed. I think this is a good idea. There should, however, be an indicator that shows how dirty your weapon is, similar to the food and water indicators. In real life, you wouldn't simply ignore the state of your weapon. Now, since DayZ doesn't force us to press a button to find out if we're hungry or thirsty, we shouldn't have to press a button for this either. I like the idea of adding weapon cleaning as another survivor activity. I hope there will be nice animations for it, if they do it, not just the standard 'does stuff' one. :3 -
There is no way to force people to use direct communications. If you do this, it will only be annoying to people. People will, if the way this is done is intrusive enough, use their spare laptops or phones just to use voice comms. I don't see why there's such a big issue with comms anyway. Imagine the survivors with TS/Mumble are just people with radios and throat mics if it bothers you.

I realize this is because of how ArmA II handles ammunition and therefore might be a long time off, but still. The magazine that is loaded in your actual gun needs to stop showing up in the pistol belt or inventory grid. It's *in the gun*, it makes no sense that it takes up inventory space. Not only would this save us one slot on the pistol belt and the main inventory, but it would make a heck of a lot more sense.

Agreed, another thing that really ought to be added -- consolidating rounds in mags. It could be added similar to the 'repair' and 'make fire' functions -- just perform the generic 'doing stuff' animation with a nice sound of rounds being tacked into a mag one by one. The actual coding might be difficult, but I don't know anything about that stuff. :P -

Bullshit. You connect to the persistent DayZ central server, you play by the developers' rules. If you don't want to do that, take down your DayZ server and run Arma 2 or Hello Kitty Online on it instead. -
I have the same issue. It seems this game works for about one day at a time, with one week of downtime in between.

Not more PVE. More player interaction, whether combat or trade or co-operation, whatever. Player stuff. Not more PVE.

Agreed. rocket has stated that he wants the game to be more of a zombie game than a PVP game -- then, perhaps, he should not strive to make it pointless to shoot the zombies. Shooting zombies is a complete and utter waste of ammunition. It is also impossible to loot any area now, as zombies have super-senses, and shooting them will only make it worse.
