    http://www.bit-tech....80-2gb-review/8 That benchmark listing should give the OP (and others) idea how different cards perform relatively in Arma2:CO. According to that listing, I would go for AMD 6870 or better as it seems AMD seems to perform better in A2 than Nvidia. At least when comparing cards that are in the same price area. My own 2 cents; I used to run arma2 with one 560 Ti and I had to drop some settings down, especially AA (MSAA), to get more constant 60ish fps in Chernarus. Now with 2 560 ti's in a SLI (and OCed to 900mhz) I can bump the AA pretty high and rest of the settings as well. I am using native 1920x1200 resolution.

  3. Perhaps I should have rephrased my last sentence a bit. There are indeed some incentive not to shoot everything that moves but like I said earlier and some others expressed it as well; The risk vs reward ratio with human (outside of ur group) interaction is skewed. There is so little to gain going all the hassle to establishing an interaction with other human players and in the other side of the scale is the chance of losing it all. (which btw brings excitement to the mod) If you already have the basic/good weaponry + beans and someone to play with then there is not much the random stranger can offer that you could not find in the next village but u have everything to lose if the stranger is more trigger happy than you. You can ofc try to help other ppl, try to exchange stuff and generally chat with new ppl that you encounter. I would like to do this more often but there has been so deep downward spiral of PKing and ppl are really on their toes (I am as well) that it is easier to just avoid human contact if possible or kill them first if there is no time to negotiate. It did not help that the DC was broken 90% of the time. Imo the mod needs some more instinctive incentive to leave other player alive. This does not have to be punishing the PKer but rather rewarding more for not shooting. But I still do not know how this could be accomplished. The other players need to offer u something that u cant get from their dead bodies and this "something" has to compete with the risk of losing it all.
  4. Ppl shoot on sight cos; They gain pretty much nothing if they let you live, but they will lose everything if they don't shoot you and get shot instead. With those 2 options, it is not a wonder why ppl do what they do. There is no incentive to not shoot ppl atm.
  5. Sometimes I can't bring ironsight up nor shoot with a rifle, changing to pistol and back to rifle fixes this. This happens very very rarely.

    +1, either allow this mod or do like PR and implement a similar system. Allowing smoother CQ experience might induce those that use 3rd person view to try some FPS perspective.

    Daytime servers are always overloaded.

    Just change the time of the year to mid-summer (some tree textures need to be changed after that). I think now it is more like late fall and sun goes down pretty early. 1 to 3 hours of pitch black is enough.

    NVGs?

    I've had NVG and played with it during the nights. I want it removed, at least till the PK spiral will be under control. Or make it so rare that u don't have to worry running in to someone having one. That thing is just way to good at night.

    +1 Been trying everyday if DayZ would work with Tapatalk. But it never does :( Pls fix it. Btw. Haven't been able to read BI forums either thru Tapatalk for some time.
  13. BI should let Rocket take some time of from Arma3 development and let him concentrate on DayZ full time with full salary. And I didn't read the interview the way that armaholic did. It sounds like, and makes more sense, that BI will help DayZ if they need help. Like in the case of DC-issue.

    Beta Patch 92612 fix direct chat !!

    Deeds; Use spirited machine's Arma 2 Launcher. I played yesterday in a server running the latest patch, and it required the players to have it as well and the DC worked for a while but after an hour or so the DC stopped working, for everyone. Perhaps a server issue, or is the beta build perhaps not working... idk. The server was FI1. Edit. Yep, the patch is not 100%. This was just the first attempt; https://dev-heaven.net/issues/30991
  16. It's a matter of getting used to it. I am now so used to the Arma's FPV and its "clunkiness" that other FPS games where the avatar moves like a train in a rails feels just unnatural and weird.
  17. FPV, try it, learn it, get used to it. The immersion factor is so much more greater with FPV. In any case, servers should standardize their settings so that you know what u are connecting to. Now almost all servers have Regular mode and it is 50/50 if there is a)TPV b)crosshair enabled. Btw, OP left out from his statement the negative sides of TPV. Both FPV and TPV have good sides and bad sides. Imo the bad stuff for TPV (seeing over obstacles, abusive opportunities in PvP) outweigh the little benefit from larger field of view. The link posted earlier pretty much summarizes why TPV and crosshair should not be enabled in PvP scenarios.
  18. Isn't it obvious why there are bandits in the game and why they do what they do. Some players just get so much kick from killing other ppl. And it's possible in the game ergo ppl do it. Some might do it cos they have had enough of the previously mentioned kind. Some might do it out of boredom. The game allows it. Nothing you can do about it atm. And i am not saying that the PvP aspect should be removed, cos it shouldn't. There would have to be some intuitive reason not to kill every moving thing in the mod. At the moment there really aren't that many good reasons not to do this. But there are actually valid reasons to shoot first, ask questions later. It is "kill or be killed"-mentality loopback that is on the run atm...

    So does every player need this patch? If so, then all servers should force the use of this patch and someone should post an announcement of this with info how to install and use it. Even better would be to have a DayZ installer with the latest OA patch included and a .exe to launch the mod with the beta. Or is it so that only the server needs it? And in that case all servers should put it in use immediately.

    After a while when u know how to deal with the Zeds with the hints given above it comes too easy to kill them. Some tweaks should be done to the system, if possible. I am more scared of ladders than Zeds.

    Canteens...

    2 drinks from canteen would be nice. And reduce radically the amount of diabetes-drink-loot. That way ppl are more forced to wonder in the little village/ponds/etc. to fill their canteens.

    The mod needs more positive incentive not to kill every human that u come across. What I am trying to say is that there is no need to necessarily punish bandits, but rather reward those who don't. How? Idk...

    Good that the culprit has been identified. I can see a hassle in the horizon already when servers must force ppl to use beta patch and forums are flooded with "why can't I connect"-topics.

    Should we scrap bandit models?

    Keep them if there is no other ideas how to separate killers from survivors. Scrap them if there is an alternative method.
