Honestly I agree with the OP. I have a L85 and would love it if it didnt have that scope. Yes yes the scope it amazing in certain circumstances. But for general play I would much rather just having an ACOG or evena Reddot sight on the L85. Currently it seems useless during the daytime.

If you know the admin on your server contact him with the exact times this occurred, he should be able to look in his logs and figure out who the hackers were then ban them. Not a perfect fix, but it's one less to worry about.

It's simple really. Off map is not meant to be valid play area. This is evidenced by the fact that nothing is out there, not even grass. Anyone applying even a small amount of critical thinking skills will realize that this is a video game and as such has a limited amount of playable area due to various processing restrictions, so there by necessity must be a defined "edge" to the play area. Most game handle this by adding invisible walls past which you can not move, and this works in most cases. The reason we do not have these invisible walls is because of the ARMA2 base game. In that you have jets and such flying vehicles that travel very fast, and sometimes have a very wide turning radius. So the developers decided to leave the edge of the map open to allow these jets ample room to bank and turn without hitting an invisible wall and blowing up. Which makes sense for that game because there is no reason for anyone else to travel off of the map (since ARMA2 is objective based and there are no objectives "off map"). DayZ does not have jets, but it is still based on ARMA2 so the non-invisible wall off map area is still there. Because of the lack of jets in DayZ there is no legitimate reason to go off map. Defending the idea of hiding vehicles and tents off map is the essence of a carebear attitude. You have your things and you dont want to lose them, so you take them outside of the normal playing area in an attempt to hide them. You are attempting to avoid the harshness of the game, and avoid other players and the consequences of this. I have multiple tents (some work, others dont) and have had a number of vehicles that I found, repaired, and used. All of them eventually have gotten raided and stolen because I intentionally keep them on the map where you are supposed to. And it doesnt bother me because that is part of the game, just like being killed is. It happens, shrug it off and move on. But man up and play the game like it is meant to be played.

Known issue. Just go to http://www.battleye.com/download.html and manually download both the client and server file for 1.62, then replace your old files with the new ones in the battleye folder under Arma2ao>expansions>battleye This should fix it, although it does tend to crop up again in the future (you will just have to keep doing this to fix it each time).

Mountain time is UTC(GMT) -7, so if it is noon where you are you would search for say +6 or so and forward.

So I was a new spawn in Cherno and ran up to the supermarket, along the way I had made a few friends and been hit by zombies a few times. I was very low on blood but not bleeding still. To my surprise I found a bike sitting out back of the supermarket. After making certain no one is inside the building and picking up what loot I can, I hop on the bicycle and ride it out of town. Along the way I pass out (still very low on blood). However instead of stopping dead in my tracks I drop to the ground under the wheels and can still move the thing around (even with the unconscious timer still counting down). Once the timer finishes I am still stuck on the ground under the wheels, and still moving around like nothing ever happened. Just thought I would share a bug that ended up amusing me instead of frustrating me :)

I dont use FRAPS or anything so I couldnt get a video but you can see in the Speedometer that I am going 36 kph ;D I forgot to mention that in the post so no one thought it was just a picture of me laying underneath a bicycle that wasn't moving at all.

You found a vehicle that was full of..... other vehicles? I would stand in line to see that.

The line past which nothing renders, not even grass. It is obvious and unmistakable.

If you talk in Direct chat the admin should be able to see it even if he is far away from you. At least on my home server that is how I talk to the admin when the private chats to me.

I can guarantee that it is not an admin causing this issue. Just manually download the BE files and it will clear it up. You may have to do it again from time to time, but it is not an admin caused issue.

The most common thing I have seen in regard to people claiming to be banned while innocent, is that they have changed their files to try and reduce the arifacts and other graphical glitches, or changed their FOV and then used the latest beta patch.

Wait.... so you see a hacker script a chopper into the game right in front of you, and then get in the chopper with him and proceed to try and kill people. Then you go on to complain about other hackers? Double standard much? Sorry buddy, in my mind if you willingly participate with a hacker then you are no better than the hacker. Just like someone saying "The three people I always play with hack, but I don't hack so it's all good".

I have gotten this 3 times now. It seems to be some weird error from battleye itself, one of the files is getting corrupted or some such. If you go to http://www.battleye.com/download.html and download 1.62 client & server files, then place them in: steam>steamapps>common>arma2AO>expansion>battleye (obviously this assumes you are using steam, if not just ignore the steam portion) and replace the two files already matching those names it should be cleared up for you. Each time I have done this the problem has cleared up for me, though obviously it can crop up again in the future (once it came up again only an hour after performing this).

No our tent does this also. There are certain items (the first ones we placed in the tent) that respawn in the tent after every restart even if they have been taken out of the tent otherwise. And nothing in excess of these specific items seems to make it through a restart.

I have had the spawning in the ocean bug twice now after using Ghilie Suit. Once when i first started playing, then again after it was supposedly fixed the first time. After that I didnt change clothing for a long time out of fear of this happening. However, a few days ago I picked up Camo Clothing and my brother was given a Ghilie Suit by a friend we made on our home server. We both equipped them and have had no issues so far. We took the precaution of dropping out backpacks on the ground before equipping the clothing however, and then putting the backpacks back on afterward since this is supposed to lessen the odds of losing your gear.

Yea I thought it was odd that we were getting fired on way out there, but dropped to the ground and turned toward where it was coming from fully intending on fighting or dieing. That was when I saw the smoke from the LMGs barrel as he fired repeatedly and no one was standing where the bullets came from. Obviously was invisible, so we quit out. Funny part is he fired at least 30-40 bullets at us from close range and only connected with 1 (when I logged back in I was bleeding and had a broken leg but had lost almost no blood so it couldnt have been more than 1 bullet that connected).

If this happened as you were logging into the game it may not have been a hacker. I have spawned in to find myself at the top of a tree slowly sliding down to my death. This is a random bug, and not a hacker. However if you were playing and then you got thrown into the air then yes that is a hacker. Either way I feel for you.

I doubt that duping really is an issue with barbed wire. For the past two days my brother and I have been trying to find engine parts, by running between industrial area,s to fix a vehicle we have stashed away. In this time we have come across at least 20-30 barbed wire and at least 15 tank traps (but no freaking engine parts). We stashed them on zombie bodies so they will despawn, but the point is that they are not that rare of an item.

One of the best things about the ghilie suit is that it covers your backpack up.The backpack is one of the easiest ways of spotting a player, and without it you become incrementally more difficult to spot.

Thats because you are STILL mad about the whole dragon cave incident in Ultima Online. Funny story though for anyone who is not him. We were playing Ultima Online and in the Dragon Cave (cant remember the name) training up skills and killing them. Well one thing leads to another (namely I did something stupid and agro'd about 8 dragons on me) and I am running for my life in a circuit around the dungeon with all of these dragons chasing me. I run past NotYou and the dragons stop momentarily, breath fire at him and kill him before starting to chase me again. Well I run back by him (now in ghost form) and stop long enough to cast a resurrect spell on him (trying to be nice) and then sprinted off again. Well the dragons stopped again and killed him as they ran past. I found this funny so I proceeded to continuously run by him, resurrecting him each time (at this point there was no confirmation on resurrections, they just happened to you). After about the 15th time I resurrected him and then he almost instantly died to dragons he logged off and quit the game. Still makes me chuckle to think about it.

I trust everyone in the game. I trust my two IRL friends. For everyone else I either trust them to shoot me on sight, or I trust them because I have already shot them and am looting them.

Well that depends on what value system you are referring to. If you mean are they worth anything as a weapon to use against other player/zombies, then yes the AS50 is a good sniper weapon and very potent against vehicles. If you mean are they worth anything in a monetary or trade by barter sense..... well I can't answer this because trading/buying items in this type of game seems silly. If you mean are they worth picking up because you are worried about getting a hacked weapon, you have no worries there as Rocket has clearly stated that simply having a hacked weapon on you will not be sufficient to result in a ban.
