Choose gun or no gun on spawn

And this is different from the current state of the game how? People log in with no gun, run through the nearest, largest city they can find and run into a building to lose the train of zombie behind them. Honestly this seems like a step down in gameplay terms from running into a building and actually killing the zombies with a gun. Honestly I would choose no gun if this became the case. I can find a weapon with less risk than I can find morphine. But on the whole I dislike the idea of "classes" which is basically what this boils down to.

    Bush tracking

I said that Option 1 was exploitable not really in regard to spaming its use. But more because you as a player could do nothing to reduce your "footprint" as it were. Plus it could be used as a counter-ambush mechanic. Say someone is tracking you (i.e. behind you, following you where you would never have had any reason or opportunity to see their trail), you use tracking and magically know they are behind you. Option 2 would do away with that possibility. And as clarification option 2 would not point you straight at the person, it would just show you the path of their movement. So someone doubling back, or making figure 8's could still confuse a tracker by mixing and muddling their trail.

    Bush tracking

Two ideas off the top of my head: 1: Most simple approach. You "use" tracking. If there are players near you it gives you an approximate direction to that player. I am not a huge fan of this because it would be fairly unrealistic, and hugely exploitable. But it is the simplest and least server intensive approach I could come up with. 2: Again "use" tracking. If someone has walked in your general area (say 20m) within the past 5min then you get a slightly glowy trail that follows their movement. It is brighter the faster they were moving, and more faint (toward invisible) if they are walking. Rain and other weather effects could mess this up also. I like this one. The trail could be easier or harder to follow based on how you move. So a paranoid player can always move slowly (even in the forest) to ensure they are not being tracked, but someone sprinting full out would be fairly easy to follow. This of course would be wonky with crawling players, because someone who is crawling moves slowly but IRL would make the most obvious trail to follow, so a crouch walk would be the hardest to follow. Would you make this an ability anyone can use all the time, or tie it to an item like a "tracking kit"?

    New ammunition and magazine idea

Didnt even make the connection to water bottles. I like it. I know when I start a new character that I tend to pick up ammo for several different types of weapons until I come across an actual weapon (or hold onto ammo for good weapons in the hope that I find them), and this would help lower some of the inventory concerns involved in that.

    Bush tracking

I like the concept. But leaving behind a visible trail that is persistent for every player all the time would increase server demands by a lot.

    New ammunition and magazine idea

If you are going to have something like this then you should also have to re-use your empty magazines. I.e. You pick up a FAL with 2 magazines, and the box of ammo your are proposing. You fire off the first whole magazine and reload with the second one. Instead of "throwing away" the empty magazine like you currently do, you keep the empty in your inventory. Now when you use the ammo box you can only "re-fill" empty magazines that you actually have (no magically making extra magazines appear from no where).

Removal of 3rd person view exploit

I totally know who you are now IRL! You are Ralph Shortey, one of our Senators in Oklahoma. You know, the guy who proposed a "anti-abortion bill" that would stop fast food companies from using aborted fetus's in their food. “There is a potential that there are companies that are using aborted human babies in their research and development of basically enhancing flavor for artificial flavors,” he told KRMG Radio. “I don’t know if it is happening in Oklahoma, it may be, it may not be. What I am saying is that if it does happen then we are not going to allow it to manufacture here.” That is completely the line of logic you are using. And no I am not making that up. Removal of 3rd person view exploit

I love how you quote part of my post and completely ignore the part that addresses your followup statement. No one is going to switch servers like that. Why would they? It doesnt make sense. If you enjoy using 3rd person then you are going to stick to those servers regardless of if you are looting or hunting players.

    Anomalies in the forest

I thought the same thing GreenJedi. Stalker was a fun game, but it's elements don't fit in this genre any more than Lightsabers or boomerangs, or technicolored loli-inspired schoolgirl outfit skins to replace camo..... well.... no loli's are a bad idea.... yea... bad.

Removal of 3rd person view exploit

If you don't like 3rd person play on 3rdperson=0 servers, simple as that. If someone wants to play with 3rdperson on then they are not going to switch to a 1st person forced server just because "I got all da phat lootz! Ima gonza kilz mesome 1st person people now". It doesnt make any sense, because they would be playing out of their comfort zone.

    What is a Carebear?

Origionally the term Carebear referred to a person who wanted to eliminate certain game mechanics in order to eliminated or reduced all risk and challenge from a game. Over time it was extended to any player who did not want to participate in PvP combat in games where this was optional (namely MMOs) since PvP by definition is a major cause of both risk and challenge. These days people throw the term carebear around to mean ANYTHING derotagory. Want to craft? You're a carebear! Don't want to PvP? You're a carebear! Don't like to play the game like I play the game? You're a carebear! This has caused the term carebear to become meaningless.

    You sunk my battleship

You are all missing the point. Rocket has completely sold out. This is obviously an in game advertisement for that horrible "Battleship" movie. Now I'm just waiting for the Wooly Mammoths popping up everywhere with the new Ice Age movie coming out.

    disable 3rd person view.

It really annoys me to see all of the "I like to play this way so everyone else should have to also" threads. "I like first person view so no one should be able to use 3rd person" "I like starting and throwing all of my starting gear away so I am completely naked with no gear at all, so everyone else should have to also" "I like killing people on sight so that is the only viable playstyle" "I believe in a bearded all mighty voyeur in the sky who spanks you in the afterlife for being bad so everyone else should have to live with laws based around that faith" "I don't like being killed by other players so no one should be able to be a bandit" There is something called personal preference. And as has been stated if you dont like 3rd person then play where it isn't allowed. You get your playstyle preference and don't have to take someone elses choice away from them. And since their playing on 3rd person on servers doesnt effect you then everyone is happy. It's like Night time. Some people love it. I hate it. So instead of arguing that night time should be done away with completely (to suit my playstyle) I simply find a server that is running in the daytime (even if this is frustratingly hard most of the time since I play in the evening). Leaderboards? Really? Who really cares? They mean nothing especially since they don't reset with each version change. You would have a more legitimate argument saying that its wrong for someone to be top of the survival leaderboard who got there when zombies were easier than they are now. As for switching servers, that is asinine and very obviously stretching for something to whine about. I have trouble believing that anyone would sit there and say "heck yea im going to loot a 3rd person server then switch and hunt people on 1st person only". There is no reason to, none at all. If you want to use 3rd person then you will primarily play on those servers regardless of if you are looting or hunting people because it fits your preferences.
  14. Separated PvP/PvE servers would not work in this type of game. What you would end up with is everyone going to PvE servers to find loot, and then switching over to PvP servers to hunt people. So the PvP servers would be NOTHING BUT deathmatch servers with zombies thrown in the mix. It would ruin the entire feel and point of the game. Plus you could not balance between the types of servers. As it stands you need to balance the difficulty of zombies alongside the difficulty of other players acting against you at the same time. With split servers you would have to rebalance the zombies on PvE servers in order to maintain the same level of overall difficulty.

    Sprint of Doom

cool story bro /sarcasm There is an area specifically called "stories" that would be the best place to post "stories" instead of cluttering up the forums with "Stories" that no one else cares about.
  16. Isn't there a "storys" section? Why clutter up the main forum with this tripe?

    Helicopter crash sites

I have seen a crash site on the runway of NW Airfield, just north and west of the control tower.
  18. Great suggestion. This would add a new dimension to the survival experience beyond just getting the jump on other players and insta-kill. While at the same time doing absolutely nothing to discourage pvp and banditry. A few thoughts. I dislike the turning off of loot in a liberated town. Your initial reaction will be to say something along the lines of "you just want free loot without risk" which is not at all true. Even in a liberated town you are not free from risk. -Zombies could attack the defenses at any moment and you need a way to get ammo that doesnt require you to leave (thus defeating the purpose of liberating the town). -Nothing would (or should) stop players from killing each other in the town. Especially if you come up near another person hunting the same loot spawn as you and no one else is around. This type of system would be a boon for both the survivalist and bandit playstyles. Survivors can band together and try to form their own enclave with its own rules that are of course only enforced by them and only as long as they "can" enforce them. Arguably Bandits would actually benefit more than survivors even. Now you know where a large group of players is. You can hunt them in town, or wait outside of town to hunt down and kill survivors as they leave. Or even move in and take the town over from the survivors, and lure in other survivors who think the town is still safe. In every respect this add more to the game without taking anything away from it, diminishing the risks and danger, and makes the game more interesting and immersive.
  19. Oddly enough I have had the opposite of this happen with my AKM fairly often. I will be walking around and kill off a few zombies, using only a few bullets out of a magazine before logging off for the night. When I log back in it almost always seems like my magazine is full again.

Screw removing rain from IRL. I want 100+ degree temperatures removed from real life.

I find it funny that you have a rainbow next to this post, seeing as how I saw an actual rainbow in the game when playing once. And there are bunny rabbits.
