    Barbwire really?

Can't vault over barbwire? Are you certain of this? Because I am almost completely certain that on multiple occasions last night I was able to do just that and vault over it.
  2. Agree completely. When I noticed the "study body" option I was excited because I figured that now I will know if there is a bandit in the area or if it was Zeds. I like the idea of being able to study a body and tell the following things: -Range of time he has been dead. Was it 10 minutes ago or 30 seconds? Im not asking to be told in those specific terms. But "The body is still warm" "The body has grown cold" could be used to differentiate this. -Was he killed by a player or Zeds. -If he was killed by a player you should be able to determine what type of bullet was used (this would tell you if you are on the lookout for a sniper or and axe wielding maniac, and allow you to plan accordingly).

The doctor and the deranged soldier.

Thats interesting and leads to an idea that could be used as punishment/reward for humanity. Have certain areas (like the tents south of Balota Airfield) that have a chance of spawning normal human NPCs. These NPCs would attack any zombies near them, but not roam from the area. If they survive then they stick around, more zombies would spawn and they fight them also. But if the NPC lives long enough more NPCs will spawn in given enough time, to the point where they effectively take over that area and it is simi-safe. These soldier NPCs would check a players humanity and only agro on you if your humanity is too low. This would give players an incentive to not randomly kill everyone since you could potentially find loot with less risk. And it also creates potential flashpoints for player interaction and PvP. Because, Bandits will know these areas exist and say "Hey there are NPC soldiers who have gear on them. I think I will raid them. Or wait around the edge of the area for a player to bring the loot out to me."
  4. I agree that a global chat is a good thing (and should be called Global instead of Side Chat). The learning curve on this game is already very high, this becomes frustrating for new players. If a new player can't figure something basic out (because lets face it the in game tutorials are junk) then they will not continue to play. For instance when I first started to play I had questions that I couldnt figure out on my own so I tried asking in chat. However I didn't know which chat was the right one to talk in. So I would end up talking in Direct Communication and get no response because no one was around me. Switching channels took a while to figure out that Side Chat was the best option, because very often even when using side chat no one would answer simply because so many people playing don't want to interact with or help a new player. Its like they are afraid of this newbie suddenly going "Oh my god I know how to switch fireing modes on my gun" and then they magically are able to kill everyone. Adding radios will NOT help the problem. In fact it will further complicate it. Because now a new player not only has to contend with not having a way of getting simple advice, but they also have to figure out that they need to find a radio in the first place and then figure out how to use it once they get it. Honestly radios should not work as a "talk to the world" type item anyway. It should instead be a "talk directly to this specific person, who also has a radio, without anyone else hearing it" type of item. So in conclusion: Global chat helps new players learn and enjoy a game. Without it fewer new players are likely to stick with the game (I said fewer, not that no one would. It is a quantitative difference) because of frustration. More new players is a good thing, fewer new players is a bad thing.

IF this was an actual game...

-Single time purchase, whether this is done as a stand alone expansion ($20-40) or as a DLC ($5-15) would depend on the scope of the final product really. As it stands I think it is more in line with a DLC, but that doesnt mean that the potential isnt there to be a stand alone game. Free to play with purchased items wouldnt work, imo, with this type of game. Why spend money on a weapon that you will lose in 30min when you die? And if these purchases are made static for every time you spawn then the entire idea of Permadeath and death having meaning get thrown out the window. Not to mention the imbalance issues that would be brought into the picture. And the idea that this would merit a monthly subscription is ludicrous. I don't see any possible way that this could merit that type of fee, and as far as I am aware no FPS charges a subscription fee (for good reason). As for servers that is tricky. Studio servers would tend to be more stable and would always be up to date. However it is more costly for the company to do this, where as players renting and their own servers can support the game even 10 years from now when the studio has lost interest.
