    Thermal scopes.

The L85 is a completely over-powered and ridiculous weapon; whilst it reamins, there really is very little point in playing Day Z anymore. My team and I all just died over the period of say an hour, when we played incredibly carefully around a recently spawned (we can presume, given the relatively poor condition) helicopter. We were all killed by an L85 and the owner's friend sniping, simply because we are given away by the thermal signature. Whoever has this weapon has no need for any skills or careful spotting. The game virtually plays itself. It isn't hard to aim and shoot on this game (one of the most basic FPS games I've played) and most of the skill in the game is the ability to spot other players and keep yourself hidden from them. When you have an L85, all of this is of course irrelevant. So, personally, I shan't be playing Day Z anymore (and before some moron comes in and says "good, haha, blah blah", I really don't care) until the weapon is removed from every inventory and is no longer able to spawn anywhere. It just honestly defeats the point in playing. I have probably around 4-500 hours of play now... I started playing the mod in mid-May but I only recently started playing again after taking a long break due to hackers. When/if this change is implemented, I'll come back and play again. I really do want to try the stand-alone but I'm fearful it'll be plagued by the same problems. Until then, adios.

My DayZ Adventure for the day.

Great, so you logged in and out multiple times to gain an advantage. You're well sick, mate.

Which T-Shirt design would you buy?

Attachments not showing for anyone else?

    Selling M9SD/MP5SD6

I've seen a fair few M9SD mags on DZ, usually when I don't have one. Firestations seem to be most common.
  5. How is it fun dodging incredibly stupid zombies? They're nothing more than a nuisance, not a real threat. The thrill of the game is not knowing if anyone can see you, if anyone is near you. The random and unpredictable nature of other humans is what MAKES the mod. if you wanna fuck around with some idiot zombies then go play Dead Rising. What's the pont in the mod if it's just zombies? What are you getting better loot for? You really think you need an AS50 to kill some zombies? Of course not.
  6. Literally I can't hear this, ever. My sounds aren't exactly low. My effects is at a reasonble level and I hear gunshots in the distance better than my friends. But even my friends who all have a fair few murders at a time at least SHOULD have heartbeats, but I never hear them. Usually I have about 10+ murders on a character and they all say my heartebeat is very clear. :/

    Best sniping spot in Cherno?

I don't think there's anything too inherently wrong in sniping Cherno, as long as you don't server hop. You balance the risk with the kills. I got 7 sniper kills there yesterday from one spot and I then moved on. I've been killed in my spot a few times before, though...

Riot shields, hear me out ok?

Makes me think of 28 Days Later.
  9. Inventory needs streamlining, but it's okay at the moment. We need an additional section, called "temporary storage". When your pack and your gear is full and you need something from your pack, it's too easy to lose items. Also if you carry 2 weapons like me, you have to do it a certain way to ensure you don't drop the weapon. There needs to be prompts if something will get dropped/deleted warning you. Temporary storage above the others would solve a lot of problems, and you can only use it if you're still. You put things up there whilst you reorganise your pack/gear.

    Ghille suits and camo.

Whenever I put on a Ghillie suit the screen goes weird and blue for a second... it's weird. I guess if it's "loading" the sea that'd make sense.
  11. Press , and . to cycle through the chats. Just stay on direct (white). If you're within 40m of someone you can talk to them. Risky move, of course. At the bottom right you have canteen and a knife/fork icons (water/food respectively). Wait until they're flashing red before drinking/eating as there's really no need until then. The redder it gets the closer it's getting to flashing.

    Thanks for the thrill pal.
  13. Heh, see your name in our server all the time (LNC). Good luck.

    [DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!

How would I find out my total kills/deaths? Really curious... dunno how to get my Player ID? Though I have a lot of deaths from trying to get a better spawn when I've been shafted at Kamenka.

    Dear sniper in Elektro

I've sniped a few bandits from one of my sniper spots outside Elektro on that roof, lol.

    AS-50 vs. M107

Personally prefer the M107, even though the A550 is less recoil-y. I've had about 30 kills in 3 days or so with my M107. Now that I know you can zoom in the A550, though, I'll definitely take that over the M107 if I'm given the opportunity.
  17. The only time I don't kill is if I'm in a disadvantaged position were I to open fire. If it's even or I have the advantage, I'm taking that kill shot.

    2 Guys, 1 Bike, 1 Secret Camp

Haha nope, that wasn't us. Our friend has a server now and we play on that... abandoned this bike a long time ago. Cheers for the feedback btw, guys. I wrote this and Jimbo posted it. I posted it here the other day in a separate thread as I hadn't realised he had already posted it, haha.
  19. Where do most people snipe in Cherno?
  20. I wrote this just over a week ago on a forum I use, thought I may as well share. Obviously you won't be familiar with the player names, sorry! -- Two nights ago, I went on Day Z to continue where I left off, with an AKM in the middle of Cherno. Ozz decided he was too tired to play, but I felt I may as well go HAM with my AK for a bit, given I was already on. I run into a Makarov beaner pretty quickly; he does the Q and E dance, but before he can even finish it I've domed him with my AK, prompting plenty of zombies to chase me. After clearing them out in a nearby field, I loop around the construction yard to the coast, passing a small alley. That alley ahead of me had this little beauty on its side, in plain site. I hopped on and drove into this garden away from the road to see if it worked... and it did! Not a great deal of fuel and not in the greatest state, but I found my first usable vehicle! I drove it around the roads a little bit, pretty much terrified I was a moving target, given the fucked up wheels weren't giving me a whole lot of speed (I later noticed disembarking the bike and getting back on straight after seemed to fix the wheel problem, as I got way more speed... but that was a while after first discovering it). With the idea that I needed to find a new wheel, I headed to the docks just south of Cherno, on the standalone pier of sorts. Zombies spawned pretty unkindly to me, and I made a bit of a ruckus clearing them out with my PDW and AKM. It wasn't long before someone found me. I saw him sneaking up pretty clearly, but made it look like I hadn't seen him, as I still fighting zombies and there was a chance he was a friendly, given he was a sloth on the coast. More and more zombies kept coming, and this little fucker managed to prone around the corner and slot me in the legs. I ducked and weaved a bit, rocking that S2 strafe to take him down with my PDW, but he killed me. Unsure if he died. Luckily I got a nearby spawn in Prigorodky, and legged it back to the docks. No sight of my body or his, but the bike was still there. Strange... I saw another guy on the docks, seemingly oblivious to the bike, or possibly checking very carefully around the area. Either way, I Solid Snaked that shit and quad-tapped him in the back of the head with my Makarov. After refilling the bike with the nearby tank, I was away again. The bike was far quicker now, and I headed towards Elektro. Some zombies started running behind me and then another survivor was alongside me, shooting near me. It was strange, his aim was either shocking or he was trying to kill the zombies chasing me, hoping for a ride. Either way, he didn't kill me or them. But, during my looks behind me and around me, disaster struck... I got caught on this fucking wheel, with the zombies around me. I disembarked quickly, killed the idiot near me and mopped up the zombies. I couldn't get the bike unstuck, and so turned to Steam chat to get Jimbo the fuck on Skype. He turned up after about 10 minutes, during which time I had killed another nearby survivor coming near me (he hadn't seen the bike, presumably, but I wasn't taking any chances). This one Makarov had netted me 3 kills in a very short period of time. In typical Jimbo fashion, get gets the bike free in about 10 seconds, whereas I failed in about 10 minutes. We started riding off into the sunset. He got off nearby, hoping to get another wheel as we thought I had fucked it again with my little crash (though, as mentioned before, it seemed getting back on it up the road fixed it). During Jimbo's expedition I went around all of Mogilevka and through the forests and nearby towns, with a few people spotting me the way. I met Jimbo nearby in a barn once I had found us an Enfield each, and we headed west to drive past Moony who was in Balota. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g301/PhantoM_XI/Day%20Z/01%20-%20The%20Bike%20and%20the%20Secret%20Camp/06.jpg [had to remove one image, click link!] After doing a few laps of Balota and seeing Moony, we probably drew a little too much attention for him and headed north, with Jimbo navigating from the back for me with the plan of doing a daring rush through the Airfield, all for bant of course. His map skills are shocking apparently, and we ended up in Kamenka. We went as far west as possible: The end of the road. The map just ends here, lol, so we decided to head north. So at basically the south-western most point of the map, we head north along fairly unstable, sometimes texture-less terrain, figuring it's a fairly decent method of navigation. I had once been on the western limits before, with Johnny and Ozz on one of the first ever days, as we made our first journey to the then fabled NW airfield. You can see on the left that there's a kind of border where the map ends, to an extent. You can cross it, but I didn't dare go too far over in case you could fall through the floor. After a substantial amount of time, our lowly bike gradually made it to basically as far north-west as you can. It was a fairly arduous journey as this thing is NOT easy to control; Jimbo entrusted me partly because he didn't trust himself, but I got ourselves them i none piece, just about. So yeah, where now? The trees were sparse along the way, but once we started heading east just a little, we saw the densest forest in the entire map. It was fucking absurd, unfortunately I forgot to screenshot it; I was too busy shitting myself at the prospect of driving down this massive hill and entering what can only be described as a slalom. About halfway down, I of course went straight into a tree, and fucked up the front tyre for probably the 3rd or 4th time so far, lol. We eventually got out of this forest and into a clearing, with Jimbo kept getting me to stop, convinced he'd seen something. Eventually he did. "Is that a tent?" he asked. I wasn't sure, it kinda looked like it. We got closer. Holy fuck there were 4 tents. We were excited now. This had to be someone's secret base. Why else would you hide 4 tent in this god-forsaken corner of the map? We looked inside... "oh my god there's a DMR! And an LMG!" These tents were laden with rare gear; 2 DMRs, 2 LMGs, an anti-material .50 cal sniper, shit loads of ammo and loads of tents. Jimbo even got a ghillie suit out of it. A little pose for the camera. Jimbo disconnected on the bike by accident, and when he rejoined his character was still there, so he couldn't get on the bike. I shot the duplicate (any excuse to test the DMR) and his doppelganger collapsed on the floor. I wasn't rewarded with a kill, but everything Jimbo had was now doubled. Was very weird! Here's a shot of one of the tents; keep in mind there were 4. Once we were done, we had to decide what now? Do we wait for them to return? That was Jimbo's thought, but I decided it would take way too long. What could be a troll thing to do was our next thought. We both agreed to leave everything they had on the floor that we couldn't carry, so that when they returned, they'd get the shock of their lives. Though we were kind enough to leave them an empty jerry can, two Enfields and a Makarov mag. We're not heartless monsters, after all. Jimbo even placed a few of their surplus tents around, so they'd know something was up when they got there. The entire time I could hear water, and it was moving occasionally. Jimbo heard nothing (but I have Astros which help) and it was making me paranoid. Eventually I saw a body come through the fucking floor, which I domed immediately. I don't recall getting a kill for it, and it was probably a glitch, but it was weird. My guess is that it was someone in debug or something... phasing through a point of the map where no-one is likely to ever be. So yeah, we rode off once again, far better kitted out, though both still with patrol packs and Makarovs  We had to go to a nearby city to kit out, given we had one bottle of water between us, and that wasn't gonna be enough the next time we logged in. We're now saved not too far from the airfield, with our faithful bike hopefully still hidden in a nearby forest next to us. The plan is to test out these badboys on the airfield, a risky game for sure, but when you're this close, why not?

    Everyone on US1 killed

It happened to me in DE1 two nights ago.
  22. We found one on the road behind a car at Stary last night (well, 4am). Had about 4 mags, found some more by a downed chopper. NV scope was definitely useless in the day, could be good at night I guess... though if you can't really navigate with it, you could only really cover an area.
