Random freezes for 1-3 secs every 1-3minutes.
Spockrock replied to BratExecutioner's topic in General Discussion
oh wow. so that's why I get all these strange lapses when looking at grass and trees. thanks for the tip -
that's only correct if we assume server hopping will always be possible and will always remain in the state it is currently in. personally, I think having one database across all game servers is only a temporary mechanic, that should be gotten rid of as soon as people get the ability to set up their own private Hives easily "out of the box". because it's clear as day server hopping and combat logging are two issues affecting the game in the worst possible way the most. I agree with you here, but I don't think it's right to assume everyone or even the majority of people playing DayZ feel the same way. again, you're assuming the game and its core gameplay will not change. I think that's a very pessimistic view. this game will die very soon if there's nothing more to do in it except for looting for supplies, dying and respawning just to repeat the cycle again. that's not what DayZ is about to me. to me it's about seeing how long I can last with one character, and I will definitely last longer if I can stash some of my food or medical supplies, thus freeing some space in my inventory for scavenging other useful stuff. and when I break my leg or get an infection I know I don't have to go to the nearest hospital in hopes of randomly finding exactly what I need. I just need to get to my stash (possibly leading bandits to it, which adds a whole new dimension to the game, imho)
-
but that can be easily avoided by removing a player's stash from the database as soon as that character dies. you hoard as much as you want as long as you can stay alive, but when you die, your stash dies with you.

I don't know how to tell you this, but I'm afraid you need to seek psychiatric help

I'd actually like to see rocket and co. to go even deeper and make an app that lets you interact with your char while offline in game. for example traverse the map in a strategical manner with a small chance of your char encountering zombies and getting hurt or even dying etc. or at the same time finding a stash randomly. the possibilities are endless. BIS's human resources aren't, though...

not the whole game, just needs to patch the files every time you switch
-
ok then, where are the original Czech patch notes?
-
Forgive me if there's a topic for this, I couldn't find it. So, where can I find an official list of changes to the experimental build? patch notes or something
-
they had to be updated to 925, the admin(s) just didn't get around to it yet, probably

how am I supposed to pick up shit if I don't know whether I'm pointing at it or not? you know better than anyone that there's a delay between pointing at an object and the text for it showing up

Suggestion: Lower the food/water consuming rate
Spockrock replied to whatup2003's topic in General Discussion
I'd really like to see it lowered even more. you shouldn't need more than 3 cans per day to keep your char going (assuming he sleeps when you're offline). and you shouldn't just fall over unconscious after going without food for a few hours. a few days seems like a more sensible time frame -
a little? eating 4 cans of food and getting into yellow within five minutes is not "a little unbalanced" imo. considering the fact, that the game uses actual real-life clock for its day/night cycle, I have to eat around 5 cans of food per hour to stay above yellow. that's 120 cans per day, roughly. that's 60 kilograms of food, which is a little less than your own weight... that's just ridiculous.

Poll: What are your thoughts on the Standalone?
Spockrock replied to Fold's topic in General Discussion
currently to me it seems the game is a bit on the easy side. I die often, but gear up fairly quickly. in just two hours I went from butt nekkid to armed to the teeth, then my char got reset, I died twice, respawned in Balota right after the server had been restarted, and now I am again armed to the teeth again. that's four lives in a relatively short time period without really losing anything of value (M4s, ammunition, tactical gear and food are very easy to come by if you get lucky or if you bother to look in the right places) this needs to change, I think. especially considering the fact, that there are servers that are restarted every hour or so, devaluing loot -
Everytime I relog, I respawn as new character.

any way to distinguish these rogue servers? -
no message received? boom kicked, aha all gear is gone. :-(
Spockrock replied to Morbius221's topic in General Discussion
servers get restarted for various reasons. what I don't understand is how can a server restart corrupt my char's data. maybe there's more to it than that. could it be because of conflicting client/server versions? -
nothing beats "I have a bad taste in your mouth", though

Drinking from a well without a waterbottle
Spockrock replied to Hoshen's topic in New Player Discussion
wells don't work for me period, but water pumps do (not all, the one near Balota only lets me fill my canteen). although, there's a noticeable delay in all actions after I click a button to activate them, so I just could've been impatient when trying to get my char to drink directly from one -
Would like to try out Arma, now that I bought it - where to start?
Spockrock replied to Fector's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"vanilla" means the original game without custom modifications. as for beta patches, they're just that - patches. even if they add content, it's still "vanilla" content. it's what the game comes with "out of the box" you don't have to wait, it's just that there's not too many people to play with on public servers. like I said, most ACE players are in one clan or the other and don't play on public servers at all. second problem is most missions are designed for 10-30 players, and even if you have a friend willing to play ACE with you, it might not be very enjoyable with just the two of you. then again, a lot of missions aren't made with ACE in mind, so using it in them doesn't make sense (for example, using ACE can break the singleplayer campaign). my advice would be to join a EU-based clan that regularly plays ArmA 2 with ACE. as for campaigns. Red Harvest starts off at a good pace but then descends into Warfare hell. if you want to play some ArmA 2, playing some of RH won't hurt. but I'm telling you, the first time you're forced to play that awful RTS-hybrid you'll ragequit. not to mention the bigger RH missions can easily be broken and become unfinishable. concerning multiplayer capabilities, I can't tell you how RH is in that regard, but in Operation Arrowhead there's no practical way to play the campaign together. what they (BIS) did was they added 3 additional playable slots, which you can access if you open the missions in multiplayer. but those slots aren't part of the same team. so oftentimes you'll be finding you and your friends separated scattered around the map. one way to deal with it is to meet up first, kill the AI friendlies and take their spots, but in some missions even that is impossible. not to mention that some missions break just by playing them in multiplayer (become unfinishable, therefor there's no way to progress to the next mission without using cheats) -

unfortunately, the campaigns aren't suited for multiplayer and will break if you attempt to play them with friends. OP, don't touch Red Harvest or Operation Arrowhead, those campaigns aren't designed well and will probably give you headaches. if you have BAF, play that, it's the best singleplayer campaign since OFP. otherwise just stay away from singleplayer missions provided with the game. there are some decent user-made campaigns on Armaholic. but the best ArmA2 experience is its multiplayer. now, depending on what you like better (PvP/non-PvP), you should try either Project Reality or some populated public vanilla server that has admins on most of the time and is running Domination. that's the most popular coop mission and is a good place to start. you shouldn't start with ACE because it's a bit more complicated, and there are practically 0 public ACE servers that have people on. most ACE players play with their clans/friends on closed servers. -

why don't you do it? six-browser can be accessed by anyone

M14 CCO is better though, a bit harder to find ammo for it
