I forgot how crazy immersive this game is

Putting this in New Players because I haven't played the game in so long that I think my old account here is deleted, so I sure as hell feel like a Bambi. I was never particularly good at this game, before picking it up again I had 159 hours and during that time I went to the airfield like twice and got in maybe 3 firefights, I have virtually zero experience with competitive PC shooting and use a crappy wireless mouse with the back of my phone as a mousepad. And yet...I love this game so much? Haven't played a single thing like it. You're just chucked out there alone in this colossal landscape and left to survive the dangers without much in the way of tutorializing. Sometimes that's frustrating but when you figure it out it's so gratifying. I played until 5AM last night and had such a blast just dying over and over. The longest life I had ended with me ambling around passing out every 20 seconds desperate to find some food or meds, just something. At one point I collapsed in some chapel and when I came to the camera was pointed directly at Jesus' face on a mural, which was hilarious. After that character died Jesus must have resurrected me because I found a bunch of good stuff in Berenzino and started heading off to the airstrip. Got a cold I think so it was kind of a rough journey but this time found enough food to manage, even found freaking 4 guns and actually found some ammo for one of the handguns shockingly. The last leg of my session I found some boars at the side of the road and was casually looking at them but then realized "Wait a minute boars are aggressive IRL aren't they..." and started backing away, they walked towards me... But suddenly they ran away and a freaking WOLF came from the left chasing them, then me. I managed to shoot it in the shoulder once, then missed, then hit in the side and it died, only got one scratch in. And then, while hungry and with dwindling stamina I made my first fire in probably like 5 years and cooked some wolf steaks. Awesome. I'm sure that doesn't sound very eventful to most of you who probably walk around with guns getting in to actual combat a lot but damn I had so much fun just attempting survival, didn't see a single person in that last run though I'm very confident someone ran past a house at night, I called out to them but no reply...spooky. This game has come such a long way, it's super weird having to be scared of the infected now but also being able to fight them properly. I think my only major complaint is that you get sick way too often and easily, I don't think there was a single run where I didn't get sick despite being careful about water and such. This is mainly a problem due to how incredibly rare the meds are. Probably played the game a total 8 hours yesterday and found one pack of charcoal tablets the whole time, rough. Apologies for this being a bit of a ramble just wanted to gush about how much fun I had. Also shout out to the two friendly dudes I hung out with on one server, that was the most civil human contact I've had in this game. One said he was Portuguese but not sure about the other. We all died together like brothers. Sick, starving incompetent brothers.
