    Stable Update 1.23

You can disable telemetry, it's the first thing i did. Connecting to public wifi is a more user specific issue but I'm sure you could find a reasonable solution to that as well. Windows in general is a necessary evil and one which will constantly test your ability to compromise, adapt, or work around. That said i don't feel dropping support is out of nowhere and if you made the assumption you would be able to play on win7 forever then i don't feel like that was realistic either. Steam spoke about dropping support for win7 and 8 back in April and gave you an exact date of when that would happen. DayZ is 10yrs old and as you said that is a long time, is it really unrealistic for the game to evolve in that time? You can't have it both ways. We don't know what the future holds, but it's not too difficult a prediction to assume they will add more DLC or possible engine upgrades/transitions that require framework. DayZ just had it's biggest concurrent player count with this update, i would say it's headed in a good direction that the majority is supportive of. If anyone drops it over win7 support then really that's on them at this point.

    Stable Update 1.23

I doubt win7 is coming back. Steam is ending support in a little over a month and a half so it makes little sense to reintegrate even if they desired to do so. I feel for you guys still running it, but i think radical acceptance or finding a solution that fits your specific needs is going to get you further. it sucks to be the minority and to feel like you are left behind, but at some point all good things come to an end...

    Experimental Update 1.23 (Change Log)

After playing this patch for a good couple weeks now i got to say it's pretty solid. The sky looks beautiful especially at night. The NWAF is a solid redesign and has plenty of loot. i was able to use the push mechanic to get out of a couple of different situations though often cars still feel like they spin out a little too easily. The DMR is a great throwback to a fan favorite and sounds beefy. Exp servers are still holding players which has been rare in the past. This leads to a concern that has been a issue consistently in the past. Hackers. Specifically on official. I feel when the patch drops there will naturally be a large influx of players many of whom will go straight into official to play with the new stuff. This experience is often soured the second you get mass killed with the rest of the server from one guy with poor social skills. Obviously playing a community server helps alleviate the issue, but is that the solution you want for you game? Battle eye is okay for what it is but really it is not adequate. Many other developers have been looking at different ways to minimize the issue to an acceptable degree using everything from community reporting, kernel based AC, multiple AC programs working in conjunction, or straight developing their own in house AC. My question is what is Bohemia's plans going forward? Looking at Reforger's development over the year and the idea of a basis for Arma 4 and reasonably a DayZ sequel/evolution, I question where AC falls in that plan? What short term solutions are the devs looking at? What long term solutions are they looking at? This leads to a much bigger question of what the future of DayZ is, but i won't digress into that... yet.

    Experimental Update 1.23 (Change Log)

Same here. There is a thread in the tracker and it was posted on twitter that the devs are aware. That said i have not found a way to play exp beyond a short stint on a community server. I would gladly accept my character being killed in the matrix if it meant playing again. I found one thread with a guy who was having this issue years ago on a community server and having the character killed by admin solved it.

    Stable Update 1.19

20,000 hours is over 2.2 years. When i talk about Bias, that's what I'm talking about. It's the baggage, feelings, and connections from spending a significant portion of your life following a game. I don't have those hours, but i have followed the game since it was a mod. The same bias exists for me, that said I can go look on the reviews page and find people with 100 hours and who just reviewed the game. For them the baggage, time, and experiences we have don't exist. They will never know what the game used to be, only what it is. If i asked them about feedback for the 1.19 patch, what would they say? I understand the frustration and feelings as i experienced them as well, but at some point i decided holding onto years worth of frustration over a video game wasn't worth the effort. I stopped playing every patch, i let it sit and let some of those connections fade away. I might read about a patch or watch some footage but overall the game was shelved. This year i started playing again, and felt much more relaxed, gone were expectations from years past and long winded complaints. I started seeing the game as a progression again and played it for what it was not what i wished it to be. Each patch with new features or game play elements, has left me optimistic about what comes next. Sometimes you have to separate yourself from the product to look at it differently. We can also hold people accountable without subjecting them to our raw emotions. This patch has been rough going to stable. Issues with cars are still present. Long standing issues still tucked into parts of the game. Hackers still plague official servers. But we as long standing players have the choice try to; build support towards progress, tear it down, Or let it sit and go chill. It's all about how you look at it. I meant you no disrespect, and i respect your passion and goals to better this game. I would also be happy to try your sever and see what new solutions you came up with for a long standing design issue. Peace.

    Stable Update 1.19

I played on a full server and drove around a good portion of the map in a ADA no problem... until getting aced by a hacker. I don't think anyone is denying cars are still having issues. Those of us that played on exp and tested them reported on what we found. But overall the experience was far better then previous versions. I think it's fair to say that 1.19 might have been pushed too quickly to Stable, but at the same time there is only so much data you can gain from the limited player base that plays exp and the even smaller amount of players that then report what they find. I want cars working as much as anyone else. I think cars are extremely valuable resources to the game. I do find it hard to give the devs too much crap when they are actively trying to work on fixing them. Yes it's taken a long time to get here. Yes cars have been a death trap. Yes they are still frustrating. But if the people working on the game are trying to fix the issue then how fair is it to just rail on them? Is that going to increase their ability or desire to work? We are all still playing this game, many of us for more then a 1000 hours. We keep coming back because we enjoy the game even if it isn't exactly what we want, or in the state we want it to be. Sometimes it's hard to take our own bias out of the equation, and sometimes we need a break to reflect back, reset, or try something new. No one is forcing you to play this.

    Stable Update 1.19

Both of these are features. or intended to be. Items spawning in random condition increases variety and makes more logical sense from a looting perspective. Getting overly stuck on things is an unintended side effect of a change to help prevent people from falling off of high points. It was worse in EXP and while still annoying in stable it's not too bad if you stay mindful. it still should be fixed. I do think exp was pushed a little too quick to stable. A lot of the things in this thread were reported or known about in exp.

    Stable Update 1.19

Had an odd one happen earlier. Went to stealth kill a zombie, and as the animation started it popped me under ground in the falling animation. I thought for sure that was it. But after landing in the invisible water and re-logging i was back about 20m from where i tried to kill the zombie. Weird thing though is that the zombie was still alive and in the same spot. Also got to drive the ADA finally, and for some reasons the 3rd person camera is way closer then on other vehicles. Makes it a bit of a pain to drive outside first person compared to the other cars. Offroad performance was significantly better then the sedans. I have been noticing a lot of activity in the south. Even in the south east, so people are definitely moving south and exploring. Item Spawns are a bit messy. Too many generators spawning in particular, especially considering how niche of a use this item has right now and how long it sticks around in the world. I would say armored zombie spawns are too common as well. Easiest way to get a plate by far is off of a mil zombie and they often spawn in pairs or more. Edit; Well that was unfortunate. hackers on OFC servers confirmed. Driving around and character instantly dead. Re-spawned and same this within seconds. Talked to another freshie and he had the same. feels bad man.

    Experimental Update 1.19 (Change Log)

I'm fine with repairs in general and items coming in randomized. It's more the common use things that wear constantly or passively and those outside of ideal circumstance. Knives, hatchets, Boots, gloves, suppressors, mags, guns, optics, NBC, armor, and even damaged tires or just car parts in general. Many of these require different kits while others require the same kits and share usage. Ideally you are not running around with all of these at the same time but many of them you are. With new and old repair kits finding new or revived uses, it also starts eating at your inventory. So we then have the average player trying to hold many of them for the potential of finding an item that needs it, especially with the way loot works you could get very unlucky to find the exact kits you need. Realistically you should use different forms of storage and stashes, but not everyone is going to do that, as many players are not holding an area but traveling. Again I'm not wanting everything to just last forever, but it's starting to feel menial every time i need to repair my boots or gloves just from walking or sliding a ladder/punching a zed, or my knife/hatchet after cutting down a small bush more then once. I think part of the issue is the damage system is becoming too simple while the game is reaching past the mechanics initial goal. Maybe i just play this game too much. idk.

    Experimental Update 1.19 (Change Log)

I agree that there are currently too many items that damage condition seems to not matter, and others where it matters greatly but we have no way to increase it or the cost is high. While adaptability and weighing priorities should be skills we need to use, it starts getting silly when you start hoarding cleaning items and it feels like you spend a good amount of the journey just cleaning and fixing items, not to mention carrying around all the supplies to do so starts to really take up inventory space. I think it's about time for a revaluation on some of the most used items and their decay rate, and some looks at ease of use changes for the player base. Maybe being able to break down an item into parts that could then be used to repair, or combining two broken items to create one better condition one. idk any other thoughts?

    Experimental Update 1.19 (Change Log)

Experienced first major issues with cars. Hit a particularly bumpy section in the woods (9060.12 / 493.46) Izurvive cords) and the car felt like it got stuck into the terrain with a sudden impact. Knocked my guy out and then relogging gave me a freshie. reported it in the tracker. Second issue was finding a ADA in decent shape but with three wheels. tried driving it to see if i could get it going but it refused to move. upon trying to get out controls dropped entirely and i was stuck inside. logging got me out of the car, but the car vanished as if it was never there. Lastly i have not tried the Humvee since the latest patch but trying it yesterday still showed issues with gears getting stuck and becoming unresponsive. turning it on and off again repeatedly until you get movement on the gear you want was the only solution.

    Experimental Update 1.19 (Change Log)

A couple things regarding ammo. On the topic of bugs; first being that the packed ammo condition doesn't seem to matter. A box in badly damaged condition opens to pristine condition ammo and paper every time. Second is that you can cheat the condition by mixing nicer condition rounds with worse condition rounds to create a entire stack of the better condition status. This is a old bug and i can remember it existing back when ammo used to spawn in different states previously. These bugs together make ammo condition almost irrelevant currently. Personally i think ammo in boxes should come out in worn/pristine most often, with damaged/badly damaged being a chance if the box is in bad shape. The box acts as a shield and protects the rounds which is the entire point. Boxes would of course then be rarer which i believe was already changed in a recent patch. Loose rounds would be the opposite; damaged/worn would be the average with badly damaged still being common and pristine being rare. the idea here being loose rounds found in random locations and exposed to the elements are probably not going to be in the best shape. Ideally condition would affect accuracy as well. but that's is a whole different topic. With magazines also needing repair this does put stress on the weapon repair kits as a commodity. Personally i would like to see other ways to increase status. Maybe using disinfectant spray or even rags? Rags could degrade in quality or even become ruined and/or lose disinfected status if used to clean. just ideas. Ammo condition should be a large factor in weapon malfunctions. Depending on how far you want to go with malfunctions, mags and ammo should be the biggest reasons you will get malfunctions even over weapon condition. I know this is a sensitive issue in game design as a whole, so i don't expect things to be hyper "realistic" otherwise we would be spending most of our time hammering that R key anytime we had bad mags or ammo. Or barely being able to get a shot off if everything was in poor shape. i also realize that the current "jam" animation is a "catch all". But the game is a survival game at heart and thinking logically about what we are using in our firearms is important as well. I think there is room for some more depth in these mechanics maybe even splitting condition and cleanliness, but i also think there is ways to improve without going too far down a rabbit hole and just using what we have in different ways. I'll leave it at that as this is already longer then i intended.

    Experimental Update 1.19 (Change Log)

I think this was required but believe that another solution would be to simply have "Sawn off" weapons join the loot pool. I have made a argument for it before and maybe it's out of scope for this patch or the devs have their own reasoning against it, but from myself as a end player it would solve a lot of issues with getting to the "meta" early and dynamically increase the variety of weapons floating around.

    Experimental Update 1.19 (Change Log)

Seems to be a issue with the new Humvee. I have found 2 and both had issues with engaging gears. sometimes they work perfectly and you just go to D and take off. But other times you start it up and it's like w does nothing when in drive or reverse. No revs and no accel. You just start skating backwards or forwards if on a incline. Not sure what fixes it but it's very inconsistent. When it does work it's nice, feels beefy and handles decently for how big it is. I have handled the Olga, Sarka, and Gunter now and they all handle well. Had a rollover in the Sarka off of some weird terrain on a woods back road, and somehow the car was fine and i took no damage. i did forget the lights one time and drained the battery. the lights don't stay on when the car is off but they do still drain the battery as if they were on. Olga is not good but not terrible, Sarka is solid, Gunter is the star though. Fast, nimble, and turns sharp. As long as you practice good driving technique and watch your speed they are all a pleasure to drive.

    Experimental Update 1.19 (Change Log)

There appears to be an issue with the new dynamic events. They don't despawn and zombie corpses also remain and don't despawn. Loot dropped around them also remains. I tested it in a couple spots but figured i would ask if others noticed similar behavior? I tried waiting a few hours and logging back in and checking and all the same things were where i left them.
