  1. So me and my buddies were engaging some guys as they left NW airfield tents today. My group sniper in full ghillie and a scoped winchester was shooting and killed a guy, and then the winchester just literally vanished out of his hands. Quite frustrating and just looking for some insight on what caused it. We were on a full pop 60/60 1st person public server .60 stable, he wasn't double carrying and didn't press G by accident and the rifle couldn't be found on the floor and wouldn't reappear after logging. Is it a possible hacker or just a bug, has anyone else had this? I've had my FN Fal awhile now and it hasn't vanished on me yet. Just seems really suspect that it happened in a gunfight too.

    Winchester vanished out of hands [.60 Stable]

    Hmm the server did crap out 10 mins previously and we both dropped out and he got the memory error. But he still had the winchester when logged back in and for the firefight, but yea could be dsync related. Thanks for the reply and yea we've only started playing again as a group for .60 thought we would just play public to get back into it but definitely need to find a private hive to play on.

    Yea I really don't wan't a UI for this. I'm hoping for more of a shake hand kind of interaction which then adds a red bandanna tied around your friends arm or something. Something that is done ingame and doesn't break immersion, and also keeps a little challenge to identifying team mates, rather than friends having giant hexagons around them like arma 3.
  4. Tbh I've warmed to rockets plan after some thought on the matter. I still like the other guys idea though of effecting food spawns to force people to use other means to get food. Changing Item rarity on the fly could lead to some pretty dynamic situations.

  6. Terrible idea in my opinion, I just cant see it working out the way rocket thinks it will. I understand what he's trying to do but it pretty much encourages exploiting and server hopping. It opens up possibilities of griefing and people will try and make money out of rare items outside of the game. This idea I could get behind it sounds genius, imagine looting and noticing a severe lack of food, ammo, meds maybe even droughts randomly. Panic would set in and you would really have to work, search and fight for survival. People maybe even friends fighting over the last can of beans, groups forced to hunt and fish. It would make sense to stock up on food and water in preparation for such a situation.

    How would you combat player suicide?

    Your absolutely right, but the games got a history of being unforgiving and if anything it requires more incentive to survive. People travel so little they don't care about death, permadeath has become respawn to closest location, loot your own corpse and rejoin the deathmatch. They might be a little more reluctant to suicide for better spawn or rush well equipped players with there fists as fresh spawn knowing they might end up waiting 10mins. Its not a perfect solution but the only one I can see having an effect, maybe when loot respawns people will stop suiciding because there is actually things to loot who knows.

    10min timer to respawn lol I don't mind death still means something to me so when I die its time for a break. I don't die all that often anyway because I play to survive and not deathmatch. People wont like it but if they played the game properly to begin with we wouldn't have this problem.

    Save The Trees Man! Marginalized Wilderness

    Good thread, I love the changes and new cities and towns offering more places to see and loot. But with these additions the wilderness is becoming too little. My hope is that they will add to the map size and add a nice thick layer of trees, lakes, highlands, marshlands and random abandoned campsites similar to crash sites but spawn little food and have a few previous occupants in zombie form.

    They weren't a problem in the mod and aren't that easy to accurately fire, geez not a problem. If someone can kill you with a GL they could probably kill you with a mosin much more effectively. Wow..

    Armed Helicopters Are NOT Overpowered

    Some good ideas right here, really like the chance of malfunctions for all vehicles. And 1st person view only for vehicles (id be happier with 1st person only everything but thats a different story). What about weather effects? Rainstorms would make vision pretty bad im guessing.And if theres chance of finding, fixing and flying helicopters then there should definatly be a chance to find AA guns such as stingers.

    Whats with all the GL hate? What if HE grenades are extremely rare and they add flare, smoke or gas grenades? People panic over anything now, I mean these things were in the mod and I don't remember getting killed by one once. And never found more than two HE grenades a life and even then using them required the right situation. Compared to people running around with High power sniper rifles (.50 cal) GLs don't come close to being OP.

    DayZ moving to new engine - ENFUSION

    Im no expert but I don't think player movement has anything to do with the base engine, I'm not 100% but I have dabbled with the unity engine before and player movement on that comes down to coding and player controllers. With full control over the engine (which they never had with the mod) I would think they could change player movement however they want.

    No its always been an office building actually, its in the game files. Doesn't even resemble a school in the slightest.

    Im gonna give this a try, I'm at a stage where I'm never happy with my mouse sensitivity and it always seems to high. Overall though I love the changes they made to mouse controls and the weapon dexterity.

    I have not made any vitriol or loaded statements though. Not to my knowledge anyway, I've merely discussed my fears that the game is heading the wrong direction from what it once was and what I enjoyed. Its the quote about the wider community not giving a crap as long as it looks good that worries me. Does this mean they are catering to the masses now? We already have the daft attachment effects and ridiculous bullet dispersion and now we might be seeing NATO 5.56 rounds fired from an AK74. TBH I wouldn't be that fussed about the ammo types if the rest of the shooting mechanics were good or at least decent. But I'm seeing a trend develop faster than the actual game here. As long as the keep Eastern Guns firing Eastern ammo and NATO guns firing NATO ammo I'm happy, the attachment system needs a complete overhaul which I'm hopeful they know.

    I never used those words dude I love the SA don't get me wrong. I'm just worried that the changes they have made to shooting mechanics in general aren't going to be fixed or become worse because the majority of players either don't care or prefer a more casual, easier to understand system. One inclusion? Everything about the shooting mechanics and weapon attachment system I hate right now to the point of going back to the mod. Combat in this game is an important feature and compared to the mod is really bad in so many ways, and now I hear they have decided to take short cuts on ammo types because you know, who really cares. I understand everything in this department can change for the best and I hope it does. Until then I will voice my opinions on it.

    Well as somebody who loves the Standalone and has put a lot of time into it, I would be very sad and disappointed to see it go the complete opposite way I want it to go. Can we not discuss our opinions on the direction the game is heading without being warned its an alpha? We know its an alpha and we are not complaining about the state the game is in but the future and direction it is heading. Sure the game will change a lot but I'm personally unsure whether they are going for realistic shooting mechanics or dodgy this butt stock does +10 accuracy rubbish, and haven't had any feedback whether they plan to change this or stick with it. What's the point in needing specific magazine types if we can put NATO 5.56 calibre round in a AK74 magazine and fire them just fine, could I do this in a real life situation? Hell No. (Love the magazine system btw I'm not hating on it, but why go all out on one thing and theN half ass the next).

    Its starting to look that way isn't it, I'm still clutching on to hope they stick with there simulator roots but this is just another step the wrong way.. why not just categorise ammo into Pistol ammo, Sniper Rifle ammo, SMG ammo and shotgun ammo because you know the majority of the players don't know the difference. And there I was thinking DayZ would never cater to the masses or take any short cuts when it came to being realistic/authentic.

    If this were the case and I'm not saying its not, but you should know that different teams work on different parts of the game. You are a programmer you say but do you create crossbow models and textures? Saying that I agree people take to many shots before either passing out or dying. I hope they get around to it later.

    I guess at least you would have to find the correct magazine that matches the gun, or why don't we have it so we can just jam an akm mag into the M4, you know to save time and confusion.. I don't see why we cant just have the correct calibres. This is just another step towards mediocrity along with the ridiculous attachment system. Could we at least keep NATO rounds and soviet rounds seperate.

    I dunno really I guess it isn't a deal breaker but I would of liked if they went all out on the correct calibres for the weapons, understandable they aren't going into detail with round types. But I don't like how the ak74s going to use 5.56 (if it is) it might not be a problem for some but it just doesn't seem right to me and would grind my gears the more I see it. If they create a weapon which doesn't already use a calibre in game then they should create the calibre, place holders are fair enough but eventually I would of hoped to see guns using there rl calibres. So you might find a gun you want but not the right ammo but this is a good thing in my book because it means they could effectively make certain weapons more scarce due to the fact ammo is a bitch to find for it, or you could find an awesome gun and have to way up the chances of finding more ammo to feed it or sticking with your mosin because ammo is more plentiful.
