Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
rickyspanish replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
First off calm your tits and play something else until the issues fixed, secondly you don't have a clue about game development, somebody employed to do texture and modelling work probably doesn't have a clue how to fix character save issues. What do you want them to do take workers off of the specialist task and put them working on something they have no clue about because that's going to cause more problems. Or maybe they should just send them home eh, because some random impatient tool on the forums says there work isn't a priority. Also I have never lost a character to this "save issue" and I'm guessing I'm not the only one. I've joined servers which state I'm dead and have also been spawned as fresh character but I relog onto another server and get my character back. Not saying this is what your experiencing but I'm 102 hours played and no "character save issue". And there's going to be hive wipes anyways (alpha) so don't get to attached to your gear. -
So why do people refuse being held up?
rickyspanish replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yea I guess, and this is why things will be implemented to make the character more than transport for gear. And yea there's always a chance its an asshole who will want to kill you anyway for the lolz, so I do understand why people don't trust, and at the end of the day its not a great thing to get robbed but personally and I use the term PERSONALLY as in my opinion I would rather take the chance getting robbed than straight up shot. One things for sure I have respect for those who do resist a lot more THAN those who just alt-F4 and join another server, at least you're dealing with the situation. -

Hmm.. Your right its a game where you create your own story. If they don't want to comply thats fine, they get shot. But not much of a story to tell is it. The game should be about survival and doing whatever it takes, I've refused to comply a few times normally when the idiot telling me to put my hands up hasn't realised that I have the upper hand, and has no idea that I have to friends currently flanking around to fill him full of bullet holes. But thats a decent story because I came out on top and survived. If I'm alone and three guys corner me ill see where it goes because I stand more chance than raising my gun at three armed guys. Id also only comply if I know they could of shot me already, otherwise they could just want the easy kill. -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
rickyspanish replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
No, stupid idea glad the skins are gone. You cant be deceitful with a bandit skin. Also to easy to manipulate e.g what gives hero skin? Healing players?, because I could be in a bandit squad as medic and get a hero skin just like in the mod. I love how you can customise your clothing and maybe when more clothing is added people could dress to look scary or friendly and thats enough. -

I don't have a problem with KOS if the player is a threat to you or your group you take them out, same goes if there halfway through looting the area you want to be looting. If I see a guy in the wilds and me and my friends can get the jump on him we either try and get him to co-operate (happened a few times normally ends with them logging) if we need food or meds, or we watch him frolic happily through the trees completely oblivious that he's being watched. We like to observe before we make any decisions, theres certain situations for KOS not just theres player kill. -

rickyspanish replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
People complain about KOS and lack of player interaction > dev team adds handcuffs and surrender animation to increase robbery and positive player interaction > players refuse to comply and prefer to just be killed rather than have there time wasted > players no longer try and restrain due to people being selfish spoil sports and not playing along, and KOS > people complain about the KOS mentality. Makes sense lol this community will never be happy. Personally I do whatever it takes to keep my CHARACTER alive, I don't care about my gear I can always find more. If somebody gets the jump on me and doesn't just shoot me, ill give them there time. I wont ruin there experience and mine by either being an idiot and going out swinging or alt - F4. This game is all about player interaction. I do think people need more incentive to keep there character alive, and to care more about there welfare than there gear. So many people playing this game but only a few seem to get what its about.... -
Get Out Of Here, Stalker! Haha that's true, brilliant game with an unbeatable atmosphere one of my favourites. Would be a nice location to visit in dayz though, abandoned amusement parks are pretty creepy.

T3N RDS no good when crouching or proning
rickyspanish replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
So is nobody getting there view obstructed while walking and aiming down the sight with male character, I am wearing an assault vest so it could be that. If I find another T3N ill try removing it. -

rickyspanish replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I have a similar problem with this sight, while walking and looking down sights my bag sorta.. how do I put this gets in my way, appears on screen o.0, made the sight unusable for me at the moment. And that's with a male character and a hunting back pack. -

Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.114008
rickyspanish replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Hmm.. Combat logging is an exploit which needs fixing just as much as any bug. I test the game by playing it as im not being paid to test ill enjoy my time and report anything that shows up. Its a shame that people exploit the game like this in an alpha and pretty much anyone I interact with does it, which is funny when so many people are against it on the forums. How can I test handcuffing and looting bodies when people logout on first contact. Bumped into a guy at berinzino with my two friends, we got him to put his hands up and keep his gun on his back, we thought hey thats try the handcuffs and see if we can rob him rather than just kill him, pow he disconnects. -
Please for the love of god don't add "Sanity."
rickyspanish replied to SalamanderAnder (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I liked the idea of a sanity system imo but not as a punishment to KOS because theres nothing wrong with KOS just the fools that come running up to me shouting friendly and expecting me to just lower my rifle. If you want stop KOS just avoid other players and play smart. I liked the idea of sanity because its the one thing that doesn't effect the player outside of game like the thrill of a gun fight or the fear when raiding places, after a gun fight where you come out on top or you shoot a guy because he's in the way or a threat to your groups activities, there's no regret or guilt or troubles that would effect you in real life such as PTSD. I think it would be cool to start hallucinating and seeing shit in the trees and maybe even hearing things after being a witness or cause of death. They could then add things to help ease this such as alcohol, anti-depressants and other substances to help you through it. Maybe its something which you eventually get over like sickness. Id love it if after killing someone I could then deal with the stress by drinking whiskey which would have its own side effects but could ease some of the other problems. But it would be very difficult to implement without being just and inconvenience to the point where people start abusing it, and going down the coast with a buddy so he can shoot you and you respawn a fresh and get your gear back which knowing this community would happen. P.S theres nothing wrong with spit balling ideas as this is the stage for experimenting, and there is much worse ideas then an insanity system posted on these forums. Such as bandit skins because you can already customise your character however you want and you shouldn't be able to tell if someone's a bandit by looking at them that's just stupid, either take a risk, kill to survive another day or stay the fuck away. -
Who Are You? Or "How to make DayZ not all about KOS in a few not so easy steps".
rickyspanish replied to semipr0's topic in General Discussion
Nice post and I agree completely, until there's some meaning to the player character and a reason to keep him alive people will care more about there gear, and there character just becomes a vessel for that gear. I really like the sanity aspect too but could be difficult to implement, at the moment there's no negatives to killing someone but irl it could have a serious effect on your mental stability. I really hate the idea of skill trees and that sort of thing, but a system of the more you do something the better and more successful you are at it could be cool and add some value to a character. -
I love this idea gotta say, naturally growing facial hair for that rough rugged survivor look.

The RV engine is the worst engine ever made.
rickyspanish replied to EchelonEffect's topic in General Discussion
Nope it doesn't make the "its alpha!" argument pointless at all, you cant judge the performance of an unfinished game. This thread however is completely pointless because they aren't going to change engine, but they still have time and funds to improve it to the best of there abilities. Its Alpha there's going to be bad unfinished code all over the place, half finished features that need cleaning up or removing and bugs up to the eyes. I'm actually pretty impressed it runs as well as it does, I was expecting a lot worse. And also nobody can see into the future, even BI, but I trust they'll do the best they can with the engine they created. -

rickyspanish replied to EchelonEffect's topic in General Discussion
I believe the network bubble is more network related then engine related. The network bubble basically turns Dayz into more of an MMO then an FPS, where as before you would receive data from every player in the server e.g there health, the zombies there fighting, you now only receive information from those closer to you which means a lot less stress on the server as its not sending wasted information. While this should improve your frame rate, I believe it to be more of an improvement for the network. So just because you don't see an improvement doesn't mean there isn't one. Poor FPS could be caused by other problems such as poor optimisation or bad engine coding, or maybe even because the game isn't finished yet and there's a lot more work to be done. -
How to open a can of food without any tools
rickyspanish replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Well I like the idea of using a can opener or other tool to open tinned food but I also think you should be able to force it open, but lose like 25% of the can or it takes longer to open and makes a lot of noise. Doesn't make sense that you cant force them open if your starving to death, then the can opener would then be a luxury I guess. -
Removal of elevation adjustments by 100s of meters.
rickyspanish replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Thats a good point, but I nice balance could be achieved. I think it would add a lot to sniping though and make it a little harder for people to just engage without thinking, and instead having to work out the range and elevation more accurately. Of course a more skilled player would be extremely dangerous and more accurate if he has the right tools and the know how. -

rickyspanish replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
I agree and also believe this would make engaging at range more difficult but also more precise making it much more satisfying. I also would like taking wind into consideration when zeroing, and adding the tools to measure these things more accurately. Something like this though would take some implementing and would probably need adding at a later date when more weapon and scope variety is available. Theres alot of people who will think this complicates things to much but Im all for it. -
Disabling clouds fixed it for me, but it makes night time unplayable but that's not much of a problem when all servers are day time.
-
Ive not yet got sick from a well and I always fill my stomach at them and drink unpure, but I always purify pond water but I guess there could be a chance, im just talking from my experience with the game cant confirm it but id assume well water to be cleaner then pond water right?
-
Oop Gth beat me to it with a better explanation.
-
Im currently surviving up north quite comfortably with a healthy character pretty much geared up. It can be a little tricky to begin with but once you learn to understand the system its quite easy. Stay away from coastal towns and head inland. Find a well and tap F until it says your stomach is stuffed, you may think that satisfying your thirst is enough but you can eat and drink untill you are full (you can eat ALOT maybe to much but this will probably be tweaked later). While you are full your blood will replenish and you will stand a much better chance of fighting infection. Also drink from wells rather than ponds as the water is clean, Unless you purify the water in a container. This will help avoid sickness aswell as cleaning any wounds you have with alcohol that can be found, but after doing this it states that you character is sick, but only untill your wounds feel better.

Cheese4Gaming Established U.K Private Hive With Green Zone- rMod
rickyspanish replied to cheese4gaming's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Bike race was awesome, cant wait for future events. B) -
The reason I hate that scope is because its completely made up, the rl version does not have a thermal mode just night vision. Plus I dislike using it, but when everybody in the server has one (they do, even my nan has one ffs) I feel I need one just to counter the pkers too lazy to use there damn eyes. And the guns only useless because it has that abomination of a scope on it. And yea they removed it because of the cry babies lol who's crying now eh?
