Weapons need to spawn with atleast 1 magazine in them.
rickyspanish replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
I gotta agree on this, who would own a gun and not have a magazine for it in the same building or with the gun?. Maybe they should take down the amount of magazines spawn on there own and increase how many spawn with the gun. So instead of there being magazines scattered all over the place make it a chance that 1-2 mags spawn with the weapon. So you are lucky to find a gun with a spare mag but guaranteed to find atleast 1 with the rifle which could be in any condition unless someone has taken it as a spare magazine for themselves which people did in the mod. Just because the magazine spawns with the gun doesn't mean it has ammo, maybe make them spawn with between 0-15 rounds in them or something the lower value being the most common and make the ammo rare. If I find an m1911 the chances are there should be a magazine either in it or close by its a little silly that I should have to search all over for the magazine when I could just take a magnum. Also magazines should not spawn with full capacity ammo and military ammo should spawn in military areas and civilian ammo and bolts should spawn in civilian areas and hunting stands. -
Love the permanent injury idea the only problem is the amount of people who will just head to the coast and commit suicide and then go to there bodies to collect there gear. Personally id see it as a challenge but certain people we see it as an inconvenience.

I tried 2017 awhile back, I really liked the idea and it was one of my favourites of the mods and I loved how the vehicles looked and the zombies. I remember joining a group of randoms sticking together most of the day. We all had hatchets and one guy was lucky enough to find an enfield but food was the main issue, we stuck together all starving when we finally found a tin, we hadn't even thought about the fact that we wouldn't find enough for everyone... Chaos ensued. Was a blood bath. Good times.

Lol I don't have anything against it honestly, ill certainly give it a try looking forward to the stream tonight actually. Its just I can see SOE catering to the masses and being a little more casual which im fine with and could be fun maybe like warz but good is what im thinking (personal opinion dont know for sure, they could surprise me). But I want my dayz to be hardcore balls to the wall.

Yea I agree hopefully this will makes its way in and add more risk to dealing with zombies and looting. Would also make treating your wounds quite important and keeping healthy. Sounds like N1Z1 will be perfect for all your vehicle and weapon collection needs, you'll probably even be able to build your barbie dream house there...

Yea it is a little to easy to survive at the minute, the only life threatening thing is other players. I don't think the amount of military buildings is the problem but the loot spawns. I would like to see a lot more choice in where to go but make the good loot extremely rare especially ammo/magazines and of course military weapons. I really want ammo to be extremely rare and stop spawning in magazines in an attempt to make people conserve it, I have way to much ammo at the minute. And of course we need a stamina system but we will probably need a way to store the gear instead of carrying everything on your back. And I could definitely live with the running speed being lowered, people move way to fast for malnourished apoc survivors. I would really love injuries to have more of an impact on your movement to such as limping and being unable to do certain tasks like cutting firewood with injured arms. I was also thinking about the idea of resting but no idea how they'd manage it on a multiplayer game. On PZ if you get ill you stay out of trouble for awhile eat and sleep but its much simpler to do on a sp game.

Controls remain the same, but holding ctrl and pressing either w,a,s or d tweaks the stance in increments. So you would have normal crouch the ctrl + w would put you in a heightened crouch or ctrl + s would put you in a low crouch.

Its definitely one of my favourite features of arma 3, I think it would fit in the standalone perfectly and offer something a lot of games don't. I like how you can use it to hold your rifle on your left side when leaning to the left. It's a cool feature and I can't imagine it being to much work getting it into standalone.

Your damn right it is

Looking back, Do you think that EA release was a good idea?
rickyspanish replied to c00lface's topic in General Discussion
Then why did you click buy? They were much simpler times but how much input did you have on those games? Sure maybe you don't want to help the development and you just want a finished game, so why buy into early access? And it doesn't mean companies can output shit at all, not if they want a good reputation. Early access also helps smaller indie devs by providing funds to spend on development and the ability to use the public to test there game instead of hiring a team of testers. The only problem I see is the idiots that don't understand what an early access alpha is.So many winging babies its hard to fucking hear. Give it time, take a break from everything dayz until beta if its causing you this much stress and if things haven't improved by then ill be right here bitching with you, its way to early for all this complaining. This topic is a waste of time and is pure flame bait. Early access happened already no point arguing if it was the right thing to do unless the op has a time machine. -
Well.. Actually a good post with some valid points. I dont think that the LRS fitting the mosin is a big deal at the moment atleast not in my opinion, im all for realism but I dont think the majority of the player base would even notice, myself included. Although I hope the add more depth to attachments later on such as using tools and materials. I agree with the magpul parts effecting the accuracy though especially to the degree shown in the alpha, I would much prefer it to effect weapon sway. The M4 is pretty useless without the magpul parts to me unless close up and personal. Would love to see more attachments such as forgrips to, dont understand why there isnt one yet for the m4 which I understood had all the attachments complete.

I also don't cover up the flaws, but I also don't come moaning about obvious unfinished features. Im not even playing the game since the recent patch because I find the zombies to annoying. But I believe that things will improve, I could be wrong but I have hope. A separate team have been hired to work on the zombie and animal ai, to me this is good news to me. I don't like the look of the competition which is N1Z1 because it looks a little arcadey for my taste but maybe it gets its own following and everyones happy. I don't understand why people think only one can succeed and the other just self destructs or something. The multiplayer for arma 3 was pretty unstable untill recently though so maybe it wasn't a good idea to base a multiplayer game on a beta.

I was just stating what Rocket had said in interviews, I have no idea but I'm sure they have there reasons. Right or Wrong. And this isn't a zombie apoc game yet, as it is in development right now. There is more important stuff than zombie ai you know. But your mind seems made up anyway so why are you still here?
-
The engine isn't garbage at all, it's the most versatile engine I have played to date. Maybe wait until the games finished before passing judgment, the dev to have full access to the core engine now which they did not have with the mod. People are constantly moaning about optimisation when there is yet to even be any optimisation. And a lot of the arma 3 engine features will eventually be ported over and we will even be seeing rag doll soon. Just have some patients, I wish they had waited until beta before releasing early access because some people just cant comprehend that this isn't finished and expect polish before all the base features are even implemented.
-
Are they having difficulty though? Maybe wait until they have even started developing the zombie ai. And at the time the standalone started development, the arma 3 engine was work in progress and had a lot of work to be done on the multiplayer side. This could of delayed the standalone not just a couple of months but years apparently. Thats the excuse from rocket anyway.

Remove Zombies until they're fixed.
rickyspanish replied to Sir Schmoopy's topic in General Discussion
And these are the reasons Rocket warned people not to buy the alpha, if your playing to be immersed than you will be disappointed. Its like expecting a car to drive smooth with only two fucking wheels. I know people shout Alpha a lot but at the end of the day it is an Alpha. All I can suggest is to stop playing and come back when the game is finished, or stop whining about obvious issues on the forums. -

2 years? that went by fast didn't it.. and after 30 million dollars in revenue maybe they should stay in the gaming business they seem to be doing pretty well. Are you normally this stupid, or is it a special occasion? The zombie and animal ai will be worked on by a different team this includes there pathfinding and collision. This is a good thing as it means more people on the job, don't forget they have only had our money for something like 5 months and it takes time to hire staff and train them to work on the engine. You just need to grow up and realise things take time, and stop buying early access games because guess what? there not finished yet. Yes the zombies are terrible but they are place holder, dean has said that the zombie ai is extremely important to get right. And I'm guessing this isn't what he had in mind which leaves me to believe more work will be done. -
Spawns On The East, Bet Everyone Thought It Was Stupid...
rickyspanish replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
Your playing it wrong, death is supposed to be an inconvenience that's the whole fucking point. Nobody would give two shits when they died if they spawned near their friends and presumably their dead body.. Lmao! -
Spawns On The East, Bet Everyone Thought It Was Stupid...
rickyspanish replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
Completely agree, no matter what I always try and survive even if I get a bad spawn that's far from my friends I just tell them ill catch them up later sometime and play solo for a bit, I actually quite like the feeling of being alone after surviving in a group so long. I would personally prefer the spawns to be along the coast south and east like the mod but not past berinzino, I disagree with spawning inland for a number of reasons such as desperate fresh spawns spawning up north, I like that you spawn on the coast and then head inland. And I think it would be to difficult (without sounding hand holdy) for new players to get started, it wouldn't be a good first experience to spawn in the woods with no clue where to go and after 15 mins of running to find the edge of the map. I also think that spawns should be balanced when there's more content and more things to consider, I'm all for the suicide penalty though either play the game properly without exploits or gtfo. -
But wait didn't I see in a dev blog video that they were currently working on cooking/hunting? NO! must of been dreaming.. And how come your version of the game has more pistols than mine? because last time I counted there was only 5. But on a serious note why are you not making your own game? Of course! that's perfect! I'm sure that team you find will no waay more about the engine than the people who created it! Bohemia pffft what do they know about game development they've only released 18 titles compared to how many you have released. Exactly were only 3 months into Alpha, most of the work done already is to do with the server architecture. There hiring more people and have a dedicated team to work on the zombie and animal ai, the Lag and stuff will probably be an on going task because as you have seen the slightest changes can fuck everything up. If you expect the game to run flawlessly 3 months into alpha release then you only have yourself to blame for buying an unfinished product.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
rickyspanish replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Modding is not game development, pretty much everything in the standalone is original and made from scratch which takes time. If your waiting for quests and missions your going to be waiting a long time because hopefully they will never happen. Epoch is its own thing and doesn't resemble what dayz is or is trying to be. I've played epoch and while I got a few nights fun out of it, it soon became pointless. I was never afraid of players because I had so much loot hidden away in a safe only I had access to, vehicles were not difficult to obtain and everybody had one. All you need to do to survive is kill a bunch of dumbass ai soldiers and sell there guns for whatever you wanted. It feels like dayz with hacks, everybodys flying round in personal choppers and building ridiculous eyesore towers out of wood. I would like to see some dynamic things though like chopper crash sites or abandoned survivor camps. Oh and it hasn't been in alpha for 2 years, and this thread is about zombie feedback not what the many care bear dayz mod mods do. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
rickyspanish replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I am not complacent with the zombies being no threat, I want the zombies to be challenging and relentless especially when weapons are being fired. And again I also understand that this could be to test the server load or whatever and was just giving my opinion on the zombies as they are, I wasn't complaining and saying they were to hard or anything. Just that its quite annoying to get seen through a wall by a zombie I cant kill (most melee weapons are useless at the minute, unless fireaxe) hits me once causing me to bleed, retreat upstairs to bandage to realise the fuckers ruined two loads of bandages in one hit. And stating that I hope it gets balanced eventually. -

rickyspanish replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Not annoying as in re spawning right in front of you right after being dealt with though, or attacking through a wall after spotting you from a mile away. I understand what you mean and completely agree they should be a threat but not like this, and I also said that yes a zombie hitting you should do some damage to items you have on you such as clothing and fragile items but what damage could a zombie do to a bullet you have in your pocket or bandages. And please don't say "your precious loot" because I am not like that at all, to me my character is what's important and I would ditch anything to stay alive, I just think that some items should not be ruined by a zombie hitting me with it's limbs such as a .45 round in my pocket, at the time I even laughed that the sight on my gun received no damage at all. And I'm not complaining and realise this can all be balanced and that the zombies are no where near finished, I was just agreeing that there are problems with how the zombies work at the moment. -

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
rickyspanish replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Well I agree on the zombies and realise there place holder, but it doesn't stop them being annoying as hell. My biggest problem is how much damage they do to your inventory, I was in the police station in svetlo when I got swarmed by about 5 zombies the terrible fps really screwed me and I felt like a piñata. But I survived and eventually axed them all but everything I had was wrecked, my clothes I can understand but they managed to ruin individual bullets in my ammo stacks. I do understand its alpha and hope they sort this eventually, but it seems like a rushed zombie respawn system for the hell of it which should of remained in development until a little more stable. And people comparing the mods to the standalone are just wrong, this is supposed to be about survival, not lets see how many guns I can stockpile and how many people I can kill. Which honestly is all Dayzero is about. Last I played Dayzero me and my friends had tents full of guns and all there was to do was shoot people. Which we found boring as hell eventually.
