so far, Ive found nearly every pvp interaction on Sakhal on the southern military island, mostly concentrated around the new small bunker and its control system. I do think this is pretty lame, as there doesnt seem to be any reason to loot the many military areas on the mainland since they all seem to spawn the same low tier weapons. Im hoping bases will sprout up in some of the significant towns on the mainland because they're actually very detailed and have many new buildings/configurations that are pretty cool (adding these buildings/details to Chernarus and Livonia would totally revamp them for me). Basically, I think Sakhal has potential for some bases and good pvp once players have plenty of gear stashed away, but for now it feels like players just run down to the big military area, get geared, and run around that area looking for fights until they die (not too gratifying).

that's not really true. I decided to leave behind an M4 just last night because I wasn't finding much 5.56x45 and figured 7.62x39 for my AK was easier to get. Triple carrying just wasn't worth the risk where I was (couldn't fight zombies without dropping the gun every time, it was going to get me killed). This is the first time I've ever left behind such a high tier weapon (I'm a loot goblin). I guess you better get a vehicle of some kind, they aren't too difficult to come across anyway
-
sounds like failure to adapt. The amount of space we used to have was absurdly forgiving. The new constraints are forcing players to think more critically on what's important for survival, which is what Sakhal is all about.

I'm ignorant to coding, but I don't understand what's so complex to picking up a body, it was a feature in Splintercell (2002) and Hitman. I figure it would be similar to picking up a crate or sea crate full of loot, just a different model, and it doesn't need to be a perfect animation, functionality matters most. The forums are for suggestions and discussion, I don't think we should limit our suggestions and imaginations to what you think the dev team is currently capable of. People are just saying what they'd like to see implemented and what direction the game should go, simple brav.
-
this literally happens all the time, which is why I suggested being able to move bodies. Also, clearing the area prior to looting a body is a solution.
-
I agree, but I'd like to add that we should be able to grab and drag dead players, or even uncon players into more favorable positions also. Looting inventories could also be changed so you have to search the particular item of kit (pants, bag, torso) to see what's inside instead of instantly knowing what's in every pocket. This searching function (lifted from Tarkov) could be added to crates, tents, and different rooms you encounter on the map (cabinets in kitchens, shelving, lockers, etc) in order to slow down the looting procedure since it's so fast right now. The current system allows you to literally run through buildings looting quickly through vicinity view, making it less likely to run into another player. I don't think speed running the game should be encouraged.

DO Not Shrink the Slots in Clothes in Update 1.26!!!

You'd have the devs sacrifice what makes the game unique in order to appeal to a wider audience? Dayz isnt designed for the casual gamer, but there are plenty of community servers to accommodate those kinds of players. IMO you shouldn't be able to accomplish all that Dayz has to offer in a matter of hours, meaning it might take a few sessions to progress your gear, put together a car, or start a base. You should build stashes if you can't handle an inventory reduction. A stash in a freshy town with a fishing rod setup will allow you to essentially skip the early game struggle that casuals often get stuck on. The better you get at the game, the more you'll realize it isn't nearly as hard as you think and that inventory space isn't much of an issue. Also, I don't know of many casual players that bother posting on forums of the games they play. -

how does reducing inventory trash the game? All it does is force the player to be more discerning regarding the loot they carry; can't carry every little thing in the game for every contingency. Next, they should make it so you can't full sprint when carrying a field bag full of loot, and can't run straight up steep hills. The game should be harder, that is a step in the right direction. -
I think you should understand that 350 hours is nothing in this game; you and your frustrated friends are still very much new, especially if you're of the opinion that surviving (finding foods/necessities), navigating the map, or obtaining high tier weapons is difficult. I don't think having every other player driving around would be beneficial to the game. Also, if youre not finding vehicles at spawns, you need to walk through the woods or edge of the map, they're constantly hidden or abandoned in the woods (I play official and already have 5 cars stashed in the woods and know where a couple others are if I want them despite the wipe).
-
Since the hitbox for the trees has been updated to a less detailed cone shape, entering or interacting with vehicles hidden in the woods has become extremely annoying. The hitbox seems to block all inputs related to the car; often times, the player can't get in, remove car parts, access the inventory, or even push the car (which would actually solve the issue) without chopping the entire tree down. This issue has made stashing cars a bit of a nightmare IMO. It seems easy to resolve, it just needs more attention.

I heard it was a server wipe for PC and full wipe (character and server) for both consoles. Consoles likely had a character wipe to avoid players carrying crates with watchtowers in them through the wipe and continuing to dupe them (iykyk).
-
your opinion on wipes is controversial for some players that believe the game shouldn't wipe under any circumstances, even if many things have changed, such as loot economy, exploit fixes, map alterations etc. I think full wipe bi-yearly is a healthy number to prevent the game from becoming stale; when you have all of the gear in the world stockpiled throughout the map, the game feels pointless because there's no more struggle or even fear of death. I agree with your point about loot as well; obtaining gear is extremely easy (far too easy) on vanilla. High tier loot is so abundant that it makes me wonder why people even bother with low tier guns at all. Good wipe to all! 🙂

plus it's totally inconsistent from other sounds. For example, you can hear someone pack a mag from like 50m away and eat from a house away, wtf is that?
-
maybe they could make you teleport to the top level in one of the random rooms that are below the back entrance to the bunker, or the small rooms that go to nowhere (people usually logout in them). They could also stop the server hopping by stopping loot from being transferred from server to server, like theyve done with FPP to TPP (characters dont transfer anymore). There's not really an elegant fix for this problem tbh. I'd say itd be cool if you straight up died for logging in the bunker, if it werent for lagging out or game crashes. Itd also be nice if characters made a distinct sound when logging out and in (more than the sitting down animation), maybe a loud yawn when leaving and a big stretch when logging in. This would discourage combat logging near players and logging out in high traffic areas where youre likely to be heard when logging back in
-
although what we currently have sucks, this mechanic would be abused to bypass exit campers in the bunker, making it inauthentic.
-
that's a great idea, Im thinking something similar to RDR2 another good one; fleshing out the wildlife will make the environment feel more alive. To add to that, Id like if hunting was made more complex/difficult since it's currently the easiest way to obtain food, which isnt based in reality not sure what you mean by balanced. If youre implying it's too difficult to find desirable weapons, I have to disagree. If anything, Id like high tier weapons to be much more rare and hard to find this sounds a bit op, but depends on how theyd design it
-
that sounds pretty op and would just become meta. Id be walking around with a couple leather kits and an extra pair at that point
-
Players should be able to drape the camo net over vehicles to hide them in the woods. I think this would be a realistic use of the netting without being too overpowered.

I forgot to mention that the infected are way too perceptive. They can hear you crouch-sprint for 2 seconds from 30 feet away. The fact that their tracking inherently knows what doors are open in a house is ridiculous, and it's the same for the wolves; if you close the back door to get away from a wolf, theyll run around to the front door if it's open. Another example of extreme perception from the zeds is how they drift toward you even when youre prone in a bush. Theyll continue to move closer until they literally walk onto you and find you despite no movement on your part
-
1) taking off shoes should be quieter, aside from the possibility of taking damage from a cut 2) agreed; taking positional advantage should be rewarded. No human can run straight up a hill in full kit like that, and they certainly wouldnt be able to effectively shoulder a weapon while doing so 3) infected obviously need work; they are so incredibly annoying to fight, especially during combat. I wish they were tweaked such that they were more scary than frustrating, and they should be satisfying to kill. I deal with the infected in a very systematic, robotic way, that makes them a nuisance to get rid of. I think games like Left for Dead and Dead Island have zombie combat down a bit better.
-
intended for OP; his suggestions dont strike me as that of a long time player. These would change the game completely, and not for the better
-
How long ago did you start playing this game?

Bottle suppressors are both overpowered and gimmicky. Having three shots for a .308 or 7.62x54 is excessive considering how easy bottles and duct tape are to farm; many experienced players even walk around with multiple bottles suppressors on them in order to stay under the radar during pvp action. It's hard enough to catch players roaming around beyond the spawn areas and military bases, why should it be made harder by allowing them to suppress their high cal weapons without even doing the work to get an actual suppressor? I think the bottle suppressor should only allow for one suppressed shot from anything above pistol caliber rounds (9x19mm and .45 caliber). This allows the bottle to be used in a pinch, maybe if youre making a precise snipe on an unsuspecting player or if you need to kill a stag for food, but stops it from being abused.

"who cares?" - a lot of people care actually, otherwise duplicating loot wouldnt be much of a concern to anyone. If your main point is that the wipe is fun, it's worth pointing out that some people actually hate it, one of them might be further up the thread Take this scenario: Next update, ground loot (including weapons in crates) is considered in spawn rates. If there are more than (x) number of (y) guns on ground loot at once, no more of that gun will continue to spawn - in that scenario, all of the top tier weapons would cease to spawn if the server wasnt wiped upon update, and I'm pretty sure there was a model similar to this around 2020-2021 because high tier heli weapons (anything above aks74u) literally stopped spawning on servers with duper clans. it seems naive to think the devs wipe the servers just because it's fun, and that ladder youre talking about can be climbed in an hour by an experienced player. The reason I gave you has more to do with game balance than fun. The long term goal thing doesnt sound feasible or congruent with what the devs want for the DayZ, it's not a story game.

that's pretty much where I'm at right now. I have multiple huge stashes on multiple official servers and there's nothing left to do other than roam the map for some action and raids at this point. I woudnt be surprised if l legitimately have over 25 VSDs, 25 AUGs, and 30 LARs stored away, which will almost certainly be despawned before I can actually use them, and yet I still pick them up when I come across them. Now imagine if the devs rework the loot spawn rates next update so that all of these guns are actually rare again, but dont wipe the servers; I'd continue to be extremely rich while new players would struggle to even find one. What if they adjusted the drop rate of NVGs in the bunker? There would still be players that abused the %100 drop rate and have a huge stockpile to use. The wipe ensures something like that doesnt happen
