Bottle suppressors are both overpowered and gimmicky. Having three shots for a .308 or 7.62x54 is excessive considering how easy bottles and duct tape are to farm; many experienced players even walk around with multiple bottles suppressors on them in order to stay under the radar during pvp action. It's hard enough to catch players roaming around beyond the spawn areas and military bases, why should it be made harder by allowing them to suppress their high cal weapons without even doing the work to get an actual suppressor? I think the bottle suppressor should only allow for one suppressed shot from anything above pistol caliber rounds (9x19mm and .45 caliber). This allows the bottle to be used in a pinch, maybe if youre making a precise snipe on an unsuspecting player or if you need to kill a stag for food, but stops it from being abused.

"who cares?" - a lot of people care actually, otherwise duplicating loot wouldnt be much of a concern to anyone. If your main point is that the wipe is fun, it's worth pointing out that some people actually hate it, one of them might be further up the thread Take this scenario: Next update, ground loot (including weapons in crates) is considered in spawn rates. If there are more than (x) number of (y) guns on ground loot at once, no more of that gun will continue to spawn - in that scenario, all of the top tier weapons would cease to spawn if the server wasnt wiped upon update, and I'm pretty sure there was a model similar to this around 2020-2021 because high tier heli weapons (anything above aks74u) literally stopped spawning on servers with duper clans. it seems naive to think the devs wipe the servers just because it's fun, and that ladder youre talking about can be climbed in an hour by an experienced player. The reason I gave you has more to do with game balance than fun. The long term goal thing doesnt sound feasible or congruent with what the devs want for the DayZ, it's not a story game.

that's pretty much where I'm at right now. I have multiple huge stashes on multiple official servers and there's nothing left to do other than roam the map for some action and raids at this point. I woudnt be surprised if l legitimately have over 25 VSDs, 25 AUGs, and 30 LARs stored away, which will almost certainly be despawned before I can actually use them, and yet I still pick them up when I come across them. Now imagine if the devs rework the loot spawn rates next update so that all of these guns are actually rare again, but dont wipe the servers; I'd continue to be extremely rich while new players would struggle to even find one. What if they adjusted the drop rate of NVGs in the bunker? There would still be players that abused the %100 drop rate and have a huge stockpile to use. The wipe ensures something like that doesnt happen

I usually get like 6 fish fillets off spawn, then run straight to kamensk mb for a plate and an sks/ak74 and go straight to Tisy for an ak101. Or I just hit one of my stashes along the way. yeah, something needs to be done about the farming of high tier loot; it's pretty game/immersion breaking.

I was only making a hypothesis for what would happen if bottle suppressors were removed, not saying whether the gas overall is a good or bad thing. I actually think the fact that certain guns spawn in the same (small) places isnt good since it allows them to be farmed in a very unrealistic way; prime example is the bunker, which is totally abused for NVGs and AUGs. It would be nice to run into more players in there though. I think I've only had around five encounters in the gas. I dont think it would be realistic if suppressors were common, despite what might be shown in modern combat footage. Historically, the NATO weapons would only be accompanied by a suppressor if they were issued to a member of special forces or the special operations command and I believe it's a similar situation for Russian forces, which would likely be using the VSS and SVAL for clandestine ops. Everyone values different things about the game, and in my opinion, game balance takes precedence over realism; I dont think it's good for every player to have suppressors. That being said, I agree with having them spawn (very rarely) at military bases because there's very little reason to find yourself looting military bases these days - why would anyone risk looting a place like Swarog now that the Ak101 has been moved to the bunker? If youre asking yourself what would you do in an apocalypse, I think you would do your best to stay under the radar while resource gathering. Shooting a loud rifle is big decision because it lets everyone in a 2km radius know youre there. A lot of my kills come from hearing a single round fired far off in the woods; I go to the area and search for any sign of the player, often finding them cooking at the nearest village.
-
this is exactly what I'm talking about. Shooting your rifle should be a decision that comes with consequences; players 1-2km away should be able to hear if you make a shot and decide whether to get closer or create distance. Also, maybe more players would go to the gas zones if they didnt have the easy alternative of a bottle + tape
-
oil filter suppressor would be a great alternative, plus it be more bulky and possibly obscure some of the sight when looking through a scope. They could make it impact gun weight more so it has another trade off (more sway, less stamina), and make it take 3 components to craft. I've seen the video youre referring to lol

those are really good points, and might even solve my issue with them

wipes are a necessary part of the game for many reasons and it would become very stale without them. They indeed are particularly troubling for builders since all of their hard work building and resource gathering is put to waste, but ultimately building is a waste of time either way. Many months without a wipe allows the player to resource gather and survive long enough to have a good experience, id agree with you if the wipes were every month or two, but that's not the case here

New ailment caused by prolonged movement in cold, wet boots. Trench foot: immersion foot syndrome is a condition that can occur when your feet are cold and wet for a long period of time. It often happens when you have to wear wet socks and shoes or boots for days at a time. Prolonged exposure to damp, cold and sometimes unsanitary conditions can lead to the disease. Symptoms: pain in feet, trouble walking, blisters, which can burst and become infected, leading to further complications. Treatment: NSAID for blood flow, pain management, topical ointment for blisters, stay dry, reduce movement if possible. In-game application: if a player neglects their wet boots, they will develop trench foot that progressively becomes worse if left untreated. The condition will begin with slight movement debuff (like yellow HP status) and character wincing in pain. As the condition progresses, the player moves slower and can develop infected blisters that cause symptoms of sickness (fever, blurred vision, cough), requiring antibiotics. In order to treat the condition, the player will need to dry their feet/boots, take codeine for the pain, and use ointment for blisters on their feet. -Please comment critiques and/or additions to this idea

that's intentional; they used to be quiet and were often used to sneak up on players rather than being used in a pinch when your shoes are ruined.

NO POINT IN PLAYING DAYZ WITH ALL THE HACKERS

you should try to find a community server that you like; admins will be able to ban hackers if you come across any. -
Is there a chance to get a real Melee mode, someday?
Misnomera replied to uedel-fa9bd22be9105471's topic in General Discussion
I addressed the stab vest issue because it demonstrates an incredibly unrealistic aspect of the game regarding damage to players, supplementing Pyongo's point on melee damage. I've written lengthy comments on the plate carriers and uncons before; having multiple uncons during a gunfight is just bad gameplay. Obviously armor needs balancing. IMO, the plate should stop .308/7.62x54, resulting in a stagger and some damage to the player, or at least a stamina debuff as if the wind has been knocked out of you (meaning you cant simply zig-zag away full speed), the plate should be damaged or badly damaged, offering less protection for subsequent shots and plates shouldn't be so easily repaired. They could buff the plates against traditional rounds, make them more rare, and add more types of armor piercing ammo, like black tip M995 5.56 and 7N14 (7.62x54mmR) that are very rare. -
Update 1.22 Xbox Experimental (Change Log)
Misnomera replied to Kyiara's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
Thanks for the response, and I think I get what you mean. It'd be nice if it didn't stop and start so much since a lot of players dry off when the rain stops, just to have it start again lol -
Update 1.22 Xbox Experimental (Change Log)
Misnomera replied to Kyiara's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
Suggestion: please reduce the frequency of rainstorms, or at least create a condition that prevents the server from raining for over 30-45 minutes. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that it rained (heavy) off and on for hours during my session today; I even switched servers from Livonia to Chernarus after over an hour and half of dealing with rain, and it was raining there too. Rain can be atmospheric, relaxing even, but extended periods of heavy rain is just a headache inducing nuisance and makes it very hard to communicate with your mates. -Thanks for your consideration -
Take a route down south (livonia) that passes a couple convoys and youre pretty much guaranteed an LAR, VSD, Famas, or NVGs and a punch card to the bunker. I also rarely see anyone else at the convoys since most of them are away from high pop areas. I usually check the one by Krisnik, then the pond out by Karlin, then Roztoka, and finally, the two nearby Rodzanica. By then, youre sure to be kitted

lol, you can shrug off a .308 from a high power rifle while wearing a measly stab vest (realistically not rated for bullets at all). The game is significantly more forgiving/less hardcore than it used to be -
it's hard not to play that way when I can go from freshy to geared with an LAR, VSD, and NVGs in like a 30 minute run. Top tier loot is just handed out to every player on official these days

Recently found a stash room that's been blocked off completely with a stack of airtight walls such that the fence posts are the only thing visible from the outside. The way this is built prevents the face of the wall from taking any damage at all; I've tried detonating six plastic explosives (which took a very long time to find) and 150 7.62x39 rounds. This doorway seems to be impossible to break into. I suggest fence posts should either have their own durability or explosive damage (at least from the plastics) should go through the posts and damage the wall. Other than that, there should be a fix for the exploit that's allowing people to layer walls that close together, since it's not supposed to be possible.

I've recommended lockers and gun racks before. I think it'd make more sense to use them as storage than having 20+ crates stacked in the corner and a bunch of barrels. Lockers could spawn in schools (which dont spawn much at all right now) and open bay barracks, weighing 100 so you need a vehicle to transport, and storing 100 slots. Gun racks could be found at shooting ranges and two story barracks, also weighing 100, and storing three rifles. I dont really see a downside to adding different types of storage, especially since they already exist on modded servers. /sidenote I dont think this is a fair characterization of the developer team, as DayZ is a game with immense possibilities to put time and effort into and we dont know what theyre currently working on. I dont doubt that many suggestions have already been thought of on their part and simply arent prioritized.

nothing safe about bases. Base building is more of a thing for players looking for purpose once they have gear and are bored of searching for pvp. If you store something in your base, you better be willing to have it stolen. Otherwise, youre better off finding a thick bush in a deserted part of the map. Im pro anything that buffs or adds content to base building, seeing as it's a rather half-assed addition to the game as is.
-
sounds like a perfect opportunity to make the power generator actually serve a purpose; the powered code lock system would require a genny that depletes it's fuel over the course of a few days. This makes generators more useful and forces the player to visit gas stations more often. I'd like to add that jerrycans should be edited so they have a chance of spawning with anywhere from %10-100 full so they arent all topped off to begin with.

I agree, there are animations you should be able to cancel in the event of an emergency. I dont believe it is an intentional decision on the devs part to force the completion of the animation, or at least not for the purpose of game balance. IMO, correcting weapon malfunctions as a whole needs some work. I've experienced weapon jams IRL and the more I've encountered them, the better I became at handling them, which is not the case in game. Every time your character is met with a weapon jam, they act like it's a novel experience. It would be a nice feature if after the second or third time, your character cleared the jam faster, like a learned skill. Each weapon type (bolt action, AR/AK, SMG, shotguns, and handguns) could have their own independent leveling. This learning/skills feature could be generalized to other facets of the game to give new importance to surviving as a character since they would be lost upon death, emphasizing self preservation and smart gameplay. Other examples would be skinning animals (less meat the first few times, emulating bad cuts and waste), repairing damaged clothing (uses less of your sewing kit as you get better), building structures (requires less nails as you get better), and cleaning weapons.

I'm also a console player, and I think the render issue may relate to the added server load that comes with players weighing more when wet. If youre on last gen, like me (XB1s w/ SSD), the game may be pushing the boundary of our console's capability at this point. For me, building facades (mostly windows and doors) have always had trouble rendering when I scope in at them, which gives any player peeking the window at least one second advantage on me in a gunfight 😕 I think they should make heli crashes twice as rare, and improve the loot that spawns on them; half the time I or my friends hear one, we just dont bother since they never drop anything of value. Personally, I think M4s and AUGs should spawn in the bunker (lvl 3) and AK101s back at Swarog. The keycards should only spawn in the gas (not on convoys), and the Famas, SVAL, VSS, and AKM should spawn in the gas, leaving the SVD and LAR to spawn on the helis, along with whatever else is considered high tier.

and that's the worst exploit console faces - far worse than duping has ever been. I wouldnt be surprised if more people play with alts than not on console
