Your ram is probably ok, 8GB should suffice. It's the Vram on your card that's lacking. Which is what 1 or 2 Gb? This should be at least 4 to 6 these days. CPU probably fine, according to Nvidia performance monitor my cpu is barely used, 5 to 10% max, while gpu maxes out at about 75% with all settings to high/extreme. Nemorus is correct in that there's little difference in system resources used in game or in menu. Funnily enough i have experienced similar crashes as you described, loss of sound, capture of mouse cursor, could only navigate task manager with keyboard. Those happened when i put the SSD the game and mod files are installed on in a USB hub instead of its own USB port suggesting that disc access speeds are also a big issue. It certainly made a noticeable difference on my PS4 to run it from fast usb SSD rather than the built in spinny drive.

memory obviously... enter code correctly first time and then game remembers you know it and allows instant access without dialling

have you tried the event log? could help point you in the right direction if there is a service that gets started or accessed just before the crash

Yeah just calibrate the compass against your shadow, the sun, a landmark or a star and it's a piece of piss to get anywhere. Although in typical Dayz fashion it's just another example of how Bohemia implement a feature and just can't quite get it right lol

I dunno, plenty of batteries do that. If not the battery then the device it is in can have a charge meter. How you gonna lick a battery without a tongue anyway? 😜 Most game mechanics are purely convenient. If they were an ass ache then nobody would use them. In a game where you can both starve to death and/or recover from multiple bullet wounds in little over 30 mins then a quick glance at a battery to tell its charge is all that is really necessary. I personally think it'd be unrealistic 'licking' a battery and getting anything other than an electric shock in response... and to my knowledge Dayz cannot yet implement electric shocks. even using just the same faces you could simply add scars, choice of complexions and hairstyles, hair colour and eye colour for each of them and hey presto suddenly you aren't bumping into your identical twin around every corner

Yep, standard in similar games, would make Dayz so much better not looking at the same faces everywhere... zombies should be randomized too so you don't get quadruplets in the same clothes attacking you all at once lol

you never get the chance because of the stupid chat mechanics where if you're in a party chat you can't hear or participate in game chat. This could be fixed easily by making the game chat button override party chat within game, rather than having to exit the game and fiddle in menus by which time you've been shot.

Or you can accept the simple explanation that every time you die and respawn as a freshie, it's on day one of the apocalypse again, like groundhog day. Meaning that car that you had in a previous life is still there to be found, the fuel you used driving it is back in the jerrycan in a shed, the cow you slaughtered to eat is back in the field and the tree you chopped down for fuel to cook it is still standing, the gun you shot it with still on the counter and the bullets you loaded it with still in the pocket of that old coat you found on that dead person and that zombie that killed you last time is still there waiting to do it again.

You can say the same for clean water, packaged food and drink, medical supplies, clothes, guns, bullets, grenades, gas bombs, trees, bushes, fruit, tools, lighters, batteries, cows, chickens, deer, bears, goats, wolves, crashed helicopters, infected and fresh survivors. In fact the game should only be playable once and when your character dies that's it, permadeath. After all, this is an apocalyptic landscape, there should be no resupply of anything...

Interesting. Yet the vast majority of people, myself included, have never had an issue giving blood IRL, or experienced any ill effects including light-headedness afterwards. I certainly didn't train for it...

Make it so once a player enters the code for the first time it's remembered and the lock stays on the door so players can pass through it with ease. Pretty certain moving between the 10 keys on a keypad via a cursor will be far faster on a console controller than trying to scroll through 10 numbers on four dials currently is.

Until your character has stayed alive a couple of years you shouldn't be worrying about dwindling fuel supplies. Just assume after every death you respawn on the first day again, groundhog day style.

Absolutely agree, this should have been a given from the very beginning... seeing as Dayz can be so quiet and lonely for much of the time. it's nice to chat with friends even if they are playing different games. It wouldn't even require a dedicated button to switch from party to game chat, considering there is already a game chat toggle button in the controls. Instead of just turning game chat on/off it should also override party chat. On the playstation the party/game chat options say 'prioritise' one or the other which inherently suggests the default can be overridden within game.
