too many hackers. need FF=OFF servers

On servers like this hackers would just change their approach and lift everyone in the air...you would still die from the fall damage. Happened to me once and I think it's quite a popular trick among the griefers.
  2. If you were rocket, what would you add in the game? To start off, this is NOT a serious thread about how you would develop the mod. I would like to hear people's (silly) ideas about what they would add in just to mess with people etc. I would put in an EXTREMELY slim chance for slenderman to appear near a player in the woods during night/dusk/dawn. I wouldn't speak of this to anyone and since it would probably only happen to a handful of people everyone would be questioning whether this is even in the game. Just imagine someone shitting themselves and alt+f4ing out of the game :D
  3. If that was a troll attempt, I would hardly call it the king of trolls. More like 4/10.

    To many guns?

You don't consider scoped/CCO weapons high-end? And you find those all the time at fire stations and deer stands. I would personally prefer if iron-sighted weapons were greatly dominant over the scoped variants, would make firefights more interesting.
  5. Yeah, exploding traps....good thing we don't have enough griefing in the game already.
  6. This. I mostly play lone wolf and it is way too easy. What is there to do for a lone wolf other than resort to PKing in the current form of the game once you have your gear together? At least getting to that point should be a constant struggle, and hopefully surviving would continue to be a struggle for the rest of the game, that way it'd keep you on your toes and entertained.

    DayZ Stories

Me and my friend had looted some bandits for the top gear in the game: barrets, ghillie suits, M4 SD and L85A2, GPS, NVG, you get the idea. We also happened to have one satchel charge on us. After accomplishing everything loot-wise, there was only one thing to do: go to NW airfield and blow up a barracks. We approached the northern barracks with extreme care, and eventually I sneaked inside. Everything was looted and the place was empty. I placed the charges in one of the side rooms and we went into the woods near the barracks, prone under a spruce, waiting for our pray. Moments later, couldn't have been more than 2-5 minutes, a survivor approached us. I couldn't see him but my friend said he was coming right towards him. We lied still, our hearts racing, hoping he doesn't see us, staying our trigger fingers. He ran right past our tree, aggroing a couple of zeds. I was ready to touch off the bomb but it seemed he pussied out and turned back to the gate. A single zed walked right in front of me, and I have to say, a zed hasn't gotten my heart pounding like that since my early days in DayZ. Moments later the survivor came back. My friend first spotted zeds aggroing near the gate, and we watched as he ran full-on to the door of the barracks, pulling a huge zed train with him. We got up on our knees to see better, and as he got to the door and disappeared inside the barracks, I touched off the bomb. What a glorious moment. There was a blast and the whole building was engulfed in smoke and dust. I got up and saluted towards that magnificent view, and as the dust settled there was only a pile of rubble and zeds running into the ruins, breaking their legs on the shattered remains. This was probably the first time I have killed purely for fun. But I have to say, I do not regret it one bit, because it was FUCKING AWESOME ^_^

    Regenerating blood

Do you have any idea how easy it is to find matches in this game? I find one box 15 minutes into a character usually followed by 1-3 more boxes during the time I am looting general stores etc. If anything they should be more rare or there should be a chance for them to be destroyed in the rain.
  9. I think making high-profit spots impossible to loot yourself would go a long way to making people form temporary alliances. Need a better backpack, beans, compass etc? Just go loot a general store! But what if they would always be filled with infected, and a large number prowling the outside too? I feel this would make people team up for a couple of minutes to loot that market together. Maybe they would backstab each other once it's done but at least it would get us to interact with strangers in other ways than just plain shooting. You could still play lonewolf, you would just have to pretty much steer clear of the office buildings, general stores etc. unless you are really well geared.

    Damaged gear when killed

Nah man, it goes both ways. Even if you get out of the firefight alive but took hits, something might get broken. Just adds to the intensity ;)
  11. This might actually be a small feature that might help a bit with senseless killing...yesterday I observed a group of survivors in a small town on the coast and decided to help them after they seemed to have run out of ammo since they were pulling a huge zed-train with them. So I went down the hill yelling for them to get in the trees, that I was friendly, mowing down zeds with my AKs-74u. I was asking them if they needed blood transfusions, they didn't talk much but one did answer "No" and they were laughing and saying how awesome that was. And then we got in the treeline, I lowered my gun and was gonna offer them some of my gear (since I would get more so easily) and one of them put a bullet through my head. What a prick. Now if I'd had my journal on me, I would've certainly written in there about the time I went north in the beginning of the character, almost starved and had to loot the market in Stary for beans. About how I killed one guy later at Stary and regretted it since he clearly had noob-gear and wasn't a bandit. I would've written in there about how I decided to go south and try to help people, maybe I would've even written something while I was observing this group about how I hope this will turn out good. I don't know whether they regretted killing me at all. But a journal may have helped with that.

Put me out of my misery?

I'm pretty sure breaking bones/taking damage (or worse yet, getting instakilled) at awkward positions like climbing over stuff or crawling through doorways is because of the ArmA2 engine. Not entirely sure but if that is the case, it most likely won't get fixed. Just tell your friend to be more careful :P And speaking of awkward deaths...I was going for a heli crash site I saw near Polana but I scouted someone camping the site with my binos. He was looking at my direction with binos too, so I threw up a salute at him and continued to Polana instead of the crash site. After looting the market I circled up behind him hoping to take one asshole camper out. As I was crawling up a hill ~300 meters away from where I had seen him, I crawled three times against a spruce... and killed myself. I only hope the camper didn't come across my body, man that was embarrassing

    Poll on Zombies

Good points. As for the current state of the zombies, they are absolutely deaf. I think detecting survivors by regular noises should be upped somewhat (though not quite to the level it was at 1.7.1.5) but aggro from gunshots should be on the same level as it was back then. Even the dinner bell doesn't call out the guests any more :/ And you shouldn't be able to lose zombies just by running behind some trees... when they get slowed down to the level where they can actually hit you on the chase we will have some nice zeds I think. Do I keep running away and get constantly hit? Or do I stop and make a stand? I think small bleeds could also be added that would be caused by infected quite often. These bleeds would last only for somewhere around 300-1000 blood before stopping by themselves, but it would make you paranoid about whether it is actually just a small bleed or are you going to bleed out if you keep running away.
  14. It's nice to come across a sensible post regarding the issue. Too bad it will get drowned in all the flaming and hate that dominate these forums

    DayZgear.... wtf?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA it's so easy to get the best gear in the game, just wander around the known places looking for heli crash sites....paying for loot which you will lose forever in a heartbeat is the stupidest thing ever. Besides, if some people really do that they will be sorely disappointed as they will realize the game gets quite stale after you have that über loot. And if this will be alive when the game is in ALPHA....ohwow.
  16. Just as the title says: make items randomly destroyed when you take bullet hits. If you were in a real firefight, soda cans would burst in your backpack, precious electronics like GPS and NVG would be broken beyond repair etc. This might make bandits and other survivors think twice before firing their gun for your supplies. Sure it would suck if you get shot and manage to escape only to find something destroyed but hey, it's the end of the world, it's not supposed to be easy and convenient. This could also enable robbery without murder, though I doubt the game would evolve to that point for the majority of users. Anyway, just my two cents. I made a post about this already in the thread "The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell" (http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=23578), but I thought the idea deserved a thread of its own.
  17. The game should punish ALL play styles. Make everything a whole hell-of-a-lot fucking harder and let's see how it turns out. And with that I mean everything that has already been suggested: roaming zombies, better hearing on zombies, less ammo etc. Sure it will punish bandits, but it also punishes all play styles. The game is BORING right now. You get kitted up too easily once you learn to play the game. And to all the noobs who might complain: noobs will always be noobs when they are starting out. They will adapt to the difficulty and style of the game, so it doesn't matter that much how difficult it is, but at least it would keep experienced players on their toes.

    Regenerating blood

The point that a lot of these posts made was that you DON'T get blood from eating, but rather that eating gives you blood over time. Thus it would actually make everything a lot harder. I know the OP post doesn't say this but I suggest reading the replies in this thread. I think this would be a great feature to implement.
  19. And it's also the same people that vehemently defend the current state the PvP is in...why for the love of fuck can't people try and see some compromises in there  . The whole suggestion of reducing ammo spawns isn't JUST about PvP. It's to make the WHOLE GAME more immersive/enjoyable. Now granted enjoyment is a relative case dependent on the individual, but if we go down that road we might as well argue that everyone on these forums is open to make their own mod that is exactly the way they want it to be. And I doubt the current state of affairs is where rocket intends to leave it. (also, harder zeds and less ammo would be kinda awesome as the game would once again pose some sort of challenge...and gratification when you overcome those challenges)
  20. A couple of days ago I had one of the better experiences I've had in DayZ for days (the game is getting kinda boring I have to say). I decided to go north without any supplies (compass, map, matches, barely any food, water) with a makarov and M1014 with 8 slugs. I wandered along roads to find small towns to loot. Here's where we get to the ammo part. I NEVER RAN OUT OF AMMO FOR MY MAKAROV. I shot zombies left and right, and I always found 1-3 more mags in almost any house. But when it came to my shotgun, things got interesting. I ran out of my slugs and realized I was in a very hairy situation should I run into a bandit or attract a large horde. So I started gathering those 2rnd slugs and pellets. I frantically scavenged barns and towns for those, and when I finally got the 4 rounds together to combine for 8 slugs, the gratification was palpable. THAT'S the kind of ammo management I want, not find 90 bullets for your assault rifle at a deer stand and they last until you die. Give us half empty magazines, or indeed empty magazines which we then need to fill with loose rounds that can be found.
  21. Those are all benefits that come from IRL friends. If you meet another STRANGE survivor, why group up? You have to share loot and are bound to aggro more zeds. The only protection comes from bandits, and even then you are risking a lot when approaching that stranger as he might just kill you. If you are good at the game, you can get everything you need alone, and probably faster and more easily than with another survivor, and zeds are just a joke. An increase in difficulty is definitely needed imo....and this includes the toning down of military loot/weapon spawns overall, which seems to be OPs main point (though I would mostly cut down on ammo spawns once the auto-filling magazines have been fixed) The rest of the ideas in the OP are absolutely fine with me except for name tags. Don't get where all this hate is coming from, it's like the fucking Lord of the Flies ITT....

    Server default/option: disable grass?

I really don't care...I mean, it is annoying when you can't see properly when prone, but I'll still take the immersive effect of sneaking in tall grass. I can just imagine how dull it would be to run across a flat field. If it gives me a disadvantage, then fine. I'll get the advantage some other time when I am the one who spots someone from far away.
  23. Nice little bit of detail to the world, this idea definitely gets my +1
