Our characters should require periodic sleeping to restore stamina
Riddick_2K replied to Judley's topic in Suggestions
There are already some mods that add the need to sleep... In a PvE, I consider it necessary, otherwise the "realism" (at least the "verisimilitude") is not there. In a PvP, I don't know... I don't appreciate the genre and I see it difficult to implement this system. On my server, the mod I used, was not completely selectable. The recovery time was fixed (I would have liked to increase the time needed for complete recovery). On the server where I play now (just found one PvE on takistan, with bots that kills), I don't know how manageable it is, I'm just a player... but it's a good thing... you also have to manage the recovery times, make yourself safe and foresee everything. In my opinion, the "having to sleep" system is a good thing, which improves immersion and increases the possibility of gameplay... it all depends on how "settable" the mod is. If you can set it well in many aspects it is a good thing, if you can NOT set it in many aspects it is NOT a good thing. For me, that's the whole point. Given how B.I. manages the game ...maybe... on the official vanilla servers it's better that it's not there. IF you also like having to sleep (I'm one of those), find (or build yourself) a modded server. There are mods for all tastes, and even more... -
@dannyboyle Well, said like that, obviously, it's all easy... I don't know if it is also in practice, I don't know C/C+ programming (DayZ is written in C, if I'm not mistaken). I only think of 2 things (not unique but as examples): *) How things went, patch after patch, since I started playing and "managing" a server (first vanilla 2020, then I added a modded 2023, both offline, now.). *) A simple (trivial) fact that is there for all to see: the number of glitched hats inside the heads of the infected... for a long, long time already. Don't tell me that it's a "rare and random" thing and that the programmers, "normally" taking care of the writing of the game before distributing it, couldn't notice. All this leads me to think that you are overestimating them. And I don't mean only as "ability", but also as "interest in taking care of the game". Many choices are deliberate, not "errors" in programming or... "oversights". And the more players tell them "good, good, what great things you do" (blissfully ignoring all the previous flaws and bullshit; unfortunately even many "famous" Youtubers), the more they will feel entitled to add weapons and hats and "not care" (or, in some cases, "take it easy") about everything else. In any case, it is your right to try to "suggest" these changes... Best wishes... 😉 P.S. Personally, even if I agree with many of your suggestions, I would be happier to see the game "fixed at the base", before any other changes or additions. 😔 My 5 cents.

You noticed that you are writing in the DayZ forum, yes? Have you ever played it before? How many hours do you have? Do you really think that these are priorities or, in any case, things that are really possible to see in a future in DayZ? Anyway, great presentations... 😉

In this game you can eat a whole cow and still be hungry, even if you don't do anything special... it's like having a tapeworm in your stomach. It's an old "problem", that "fanatics" don't see as a problem but always find imaginative justifications. I see you have an old subscription and already some messages... you still haven't understood that this game, although still very fun, has very little of the realistic and... unfortunately... with time less and less... and, according to the same declaration of the spokespersons of the programmers, has NO intention of becoming "realistic": Despite being advertised as: "DayZ is an unforgiving, authentic, open world sandbox online game where... [] ... follows a single goal - to survive as long as they can, by all means necessary." This is... take it or leave it... (or find/make modified servers). ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯

In reality, the loot generation (the so-called CE: Central Economy) is really flawed by itself. And for MOD maps, the distribution of the loot depends on who sets up the server, not on the map. Even in the official maps, if you open your own server, you can modify as you want... and whether it is a good or bad modification, depends mainly on taste, if you don't make any gross errors. A map is judged by how it was built and how it was "stuffed" (the elements put on the map... the permanent ones)... everything else depends on who "builds" the server, they are all personal modifications. Only a "complete server" can be judged by the whole context: map, settings, inserted mods, rules and... NOT least... the behavior of the administrators. And... Why do you say: Don't you think a modder can make a good map? You can argue about the design choices... it's a matter of taste... but about the intrinsic "quality" of the work... I haven't tried many Mod maps, but "Deer Isle" is really well done... and if we really want, "Chernarus+" itself still has several defects, scattered here and there... 😉
-
The game map ? Is there really anyone who uses it ? It's horrible and quite useless. With Izurvive you solve everything very easily and with many good functions. 😉
-
Zs used to kill... that is, they would attack an unconscious player until they died. Then (patch 1.12)... I don't know why... they blocked this ability. How many of you would like the infected to kill again? Maybe just on HC servers? If there were a lot of us, we could open a ticket and ask for this ability back... I don't know if it would change anything, but we could try...
-
267 reads... 5 replies and 4 votes... including mine ("DefectiveWater" your "vote" is written in the comment 😉 ) I see that nobody cares what the infected do... or almost... 😧 Too "shy" to vote or everyone playing like CoD thinking that these infected are just a "useless nuisance" ?!? 😵

@dannyboyle You forgot about the bushes that grow from the sea (not the river reeds), the trees that grow from the rocks and those a bit "above ground" (with the roots suspended in the air)... Anyway yes... the vegetation is one of the best I've ever seen, and even as panoramas Chernarus is always fantastic... I have some screenshots that would be worth printing, framing and hanging on the walls. Too bad everything is ruined by the carelessness, incompetence and "sloppiness" of this management. DayZ is a huge "wasted" potential. P.S. Some SS from Chernarus are my gaming PC desktop background. 😊

Never played on "Takistan" (is there any server that uses it?) I don't know how it is, I've only seen it on Izurvive, but it seems nice... The important thing is that it is a varied and not monotonous map... with mountains and valleys, and ravines to hide in... if it had shelters and caves to visit it would be nice and useful, but... As for "Sakhal"... why should I buy a map that doesn't give anything more than a free one (Namalsk)? Actually... for me, from what I've seen on Izurvive, I prefer Namalsk. NOTE: I play DayZ for its "survival substance", I'm not interested in the side bullshit like the space portal that takes you to another dimension... this is science fiction stuff, not for DayZ. My point of view. In this case... If the map was not more than "exceptional" (but as a map... caves, ravines, mountains, gorges, canyons, etc...), why should I buy a DLC when I can use "Takistan" for free?!? DON'T answer me: "to support the company"... 😕 P.S. When they created Livonia, I saw it on Izurvive and I didn't like it... too banal and monotonous (as a map: that is). Now that it's free I tried it... out of curiosity and because, having the hive in common with Chernarus (big bullshit) and having divided some weapons (another bullshit), I needed an AS-Val... Well... I confirm my impression of the first hour obtained with a vision on Izurvive: monotonous and boring... 😞

@Devtryak We already have rabbits and deer... then pigs, wild boars, foxes, roe deer, cows, sheep, goats... what's missing is a serious and realistic approach to hunting... and to the whole feeding and metabolism system of the doll: it has to eat and drink as if it had a "tapeworm" in its intestines. It's absurd and grotesque. In addition, since a few patches, they have also reduced the caloric intake of meat: you can eat a whole cow and still not be full. It's absurd and grotesque... something out of this world! This would really help: MORE REALISM! Now they have also poisoned the meat of wolves and bears... They have literally ruined my pleasure in hunting! This should be "fixed": more realism in hunting, cooking and, finally, a serious and complete "work with skins" (jackets, pants, shoes, gloves, vests, etc...) The idea of the "raccoon" is nice, but if everything else doesn't change, it remains another stupid useless animal... ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯

@boggle If you mean that when you die, everything you've built and accumulated should disappear (if it's only your stuff and not shared with others), I could agree... but I'm afraid it's very complex to do... especially if you play with other people who don't die (obviously). Since it's "just" a video game, you have to make do with some "imprecisions" (let's say that...). If anything, a "block" (ban) from the game for a week, after you die... would be easier to do. But if you play survival, you can't do without supplies and even bases... in fact... I would expand the concept of "base" to hidden shelters even among buildings (hidden and invisible attics, cellars under the rubble of destroyed/abandoned houses... for example) and in the woods (larger maps and hiding places like caves or crevices between rocks that can be camouflaged would be needed)... like a real survivor would do. And to avoid the location being known, they should NOT be a fixed part of the map, but buildable shelters like turrets (but much less visible)... in any place you like... and almost invisible from the outside. I think that something like this, in addition to being more in tune with the lore of this game, could also trigger other types of gameplay, such as following a survivor to see if and where he is taking refuge... or stalking a place, because it seems frequented, to try to find out where the survivor is taking refuge... instead of killing everyone on sight. But reducing everything to: eat, dress, arm yourself and go try to kill someone... without anything else... is precisely the "nature" of CoD or Battlefield. In those games, moreover, no depot or base is needed, since you don't lose progress on equipment and weapons with every kill... it's another type of game. This is exactly the difference between the two games... not only the features of the game itself (equipment ready at every login or stored in supplies), but of "game philosophy"... of the objectives (survive and defend yourself or just try to kill the next one). Even if many players do not understand it and play DayZ only as if it were an "exotic CoD"... and the programmers "follow the crowd" and not the "lore of the game", with their management choices, worsening this "distortion of the lore of the game" even more. It is precisely the management of these programmers that does NOT go in the direction of "survival" but of an "exotic CoD". At this point, we might as well go back to ArmA, right? P.S. If you have been playing for a long time you will remember that there were servers without persistence. I do not know why they closed them (I do not know well the "why" of so many choices of these programmers)... but for a game in "CoD style", perhaps they would be the most suitable. Obviously with the DIFFERENT hive... even if I don't agree with the "blocks" of particular weapons, but it was easy to enter one of these servers, find the right weapon (without persistence it wasn't "blocked" by the "accumulation") and jump to another server. Many nice things could be done by separating the hives and dividing the characteristics of the servers... at least the "HC" servers should be more "difficult" than they are now, with less food, more diseases and the Zs that kill again (another change that damaged DayZ). We don't need other weapons, we need a "serious" and careful management of this game, according to its nature: "survive as long as they can, by all means necessary" (https://www.bohemia.net/games/dayz) !!!

Why Are DayZ Mods Better Than Official Content?
Riddick_2K replied to Allan Barcelos's topic in General Discussion
@Allan Barcelos And given the way that they (often) manage this game... I think the less they mess with it, the better. They've already changed it for the worse too many times and too few times I've seen truly useful changes. If I could go back to when I started (2020), despite some good things done after, I'd prefer to go back to that game as it was and rely solely on mods. Which are many, most of them absurd and useless... but you can choose IF and Which ones to put. I remain of the opinion that this game is so successful mainly for the universe of mods that revolves around it, and these programmers should mainly help and favor this world... also allowing (fuck STEAM) to use old versions of the game and the mods themselves... without "forcing" forced updates. I've always wondered why no one publicly complains about this... especially those who manage a server (updates are always a pain in the ass, both for the game and the mods). My 5 cents, obviously. -
@dannyboyle There is a great radio station in Chernarus (Radio Zenit), which you could once make broadcast (by adding a battery). A few patches ago they closed this possibility. Do you think B.I. will ever move to add something good, useful and curious... since they often close what is already there?!? Rhetorical question, of course. If you want a "good DayZ", you have to search in the modded community servers, or set up your own. 🙁

You are playing the wrong game. DayZ is NOT... or "should not be" (see the game's ad) an "exotic war FPS"... another version of CoD or Battlefield... or the "return of ArmA". DayZ is a survival game, it is "is an unforgiving, authentic, open world sandbox online game [] on a server follows a single goal - to survive as long as they can, by all means necessary" (cit. https://www.bohemia.net/games/dayz)... in DayZ there is NOT... or should not be an "end game" (by default), because in DayZ it should NOT have an ending (by default). In theory, if you are good (and a little lucky, too), you should NEVER die. Those who only try to arm themselves and fight other players to the death, have played the wrong game. This does not mean that, if they want to, they cannot do it... this means that this game is NOT made for this (at least according to what is advertised). I agree that B.I. has too often made mistakes in "managing" the game... but the only mistake was to stuff too many weapons (secondary for this type of game), hats and t-shirts (basically irrelevant in their useless mass), and to leave out the real aspects of survival (leather jobs, more resistant and improvable bases over time, making hunting useful, making canned food rare, increasing the Z and making them infect the players... bringing back the characteristic that Z kills... always... etc...). This is what a game like DayZ would require and that these programmers DON'T do (or are not able to do... who knows?!?). Don't complain about DayZ comparing it to another war FPS... DayZ IS NOT, (or shouldn't be) another fucking "short-term war FPS"! My 5 cents. P.S. If you're just bored of surviving, DayZ is NOT the game for you... DO NOT try to change DayZ, change YOUR game!

COD is when you arm yourself just to try to kill other players... it has nothing to do with getting supplies for survival. Those who play for survival should try to get at least some supplies, just to ensure as much as possible to have consumer goods to continue surviving. And try to survive as much as possible... that's the game... for this it's advertised and sold... Otherwise just go back to the game from which it was "modified": ArmA The bases should also serve that purpose, but in this game they are made too badly, from all points of view (too difficult to place, too fragile to break, too visible, etc...) completely the opposite of what they should be. It seems that the programmers of B.I. do everything to make this game look like an "Arcade Shooter", just like programming and management choices. And... not talking about the Wipes that are the DEATH of the game (of the real purpose of the game: to survive).

I can't connect to the server running on my PC.
Riddick_2K replied to nemesis199393's topic in Servers
It's a bug that happens to many. Some people just say that you have to open all the ports of DayZ, both in the firewall and in the router... I tried many, in the router (I haven't used the Firewall for years), all those that I found listed online, but I couldn't. And I'm sure of how I set up the router because I use other services with direct external communication that see my PC without problems. For many others, however, it works. I don't know what it depends on... bad luck? However, I was able to enter my server by providing the current IP of the connection and my friends entered directly via IP (a function of the launcher). However, a lot of patches have passed since that time. Try to search for all the ports that are attributed to DayZ and make sure they are open in the router and not blocked by the firewall (if you use it). Also check the settings of the server configuration files (even in this I have read various ones, at the time). Otherwise you just have to try to provide your current IP (and be sure your router or provider does not update the connection) and let them enter directly. It seems to me that it only works with the vanilla launcher, DZSA does not have that function... but I could be wrong, I do not have the gaming PC at hand to check. If you find a possible solution, post it, it could be useful to someone. -
In the DayZ button remapping menu, is this controller listed (and working)? "8Bitdo Ultimate 2C" right? I'll try to look for it online... P.S. I have a steering wheel (for cars), a joystick (for flying) and a generic (and cheap) joypad, but none of these appear usable in the DayZ menu... They are not even seen, even if in Windows (7 & 10) they work regularly. ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯

Can anyone give me the make and model of a PC Joypad (windows 10) that is supported by DayZ? Possibly a cheap model. Thanks. 🙂

Vehicles (vanilla+custom) does not spawn after database wipe.
Riddick_2K replied to Bubbehn's topic in Servers
Maybe I misunderstood, but it seemed to me that in the original post it was written that the entire "storage_1" folder has already been deleted. This also assumes all the other files contained therein... I think... <restock=0> will not change much: in theory it should speed up the process, but I have seen that it generally does not work. Even setting a large number, I always find many objects of the same type in the same place... which in theory it should not. After generating an object, it should wait for the <restock> time before generating an object of the same type... and generate another type of object while waiting... but it does not work... ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯ -
Hi. Sorry but "Xbox One" is a console. I was just looking for a Joypad to connect to a Windows 10 PC, that works with DayZ. If there was a whole steering wheel (with pedals) it would be great, but it seems that no peripheral is supported by DayZ, only some Joypads... I would like to know which ones. 🙂

4th day with Connection Error (0X00020009)
Riddick_2K replied to Wilson Leung's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi. Sorry, I don't know English and I have to use Google Translate (it's not very precise). If you use the "tracert" command from the console (I assume you use a Windows system. You can find all the explanations with Google) ... you should have a whole series of "strings", with the response in "ms" (milliseconds) of each "passage" between your PC and the game server. If you write: " tracert 46.251. 235.5 " you will get a series of "pings" in milliseconds for each hop that the packet makes from your PC to the game server. It may be that, sometimes, you struggle, but then the ping returns anyway. When it doesn't respond, it signals you with a series of asterisks (*) If at the final address, that of the server, you get a numeric value, then that server responds (as hardware, obviously). If you can't access, then it's a problem with the game (client or server). If it gets stuck in the middle of the procedure, with a series of asterisks (*), and it doesn't go any further... then there's a packet routing problem... you should contact your provider. If it gets stuck only at the last server hop... I don't know, maybe that server is down for the moment. Try waiting a few days or test other servers. I'm sorry but I'm not a network expert... I don't know how to help you beyond that. I hope the translation is understandable... 😅 -
4th day with Connection Error (0X00020009)
Riddick_2K replied to Wilson Leung's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi I see no one has answered you yet... I'll see if I can help in some way. I read that you did a "tracert". I imagine from the PC console. What is the result? This should already give you a good indication of "where" the problem is. Maybe post the result obscuring the first IPs of your PC and provider... 🤞 -
Well... Let's leave aside games that are too old, it was another generation, but on the Battlefield series I have never encountered problems like that... both in terms of connection to the servers (the launcher ping reflects the console hardware ping much better and, generally, is stable in both cases) and in terms of "character management" (when you have a high ping you only have a slight delay in actions and it is difficult to get shots in... but you don't have vehicles that jump or go into orbit). 🤔

Have the administrators disappeared?
