Experimental 1.26 and diseases: did I miss something?
Riddick_2K posted a topic in General Discussion
I reread all the changes of the experimental version 1.26, maybe I missed something or I didn't understand it from Google translations, but... It happened to me, 2 times in a row in a short time, to vomit and get the disease symbol for no apparent reason... as if I had drunk dirty water or eaten raw meat, but I am well dressed and equipped... I only get water from fountains and, rarely, from the pond, but only if I have the water purification tablet or if I have a pot and I cook fish. It's been months (a lot), now that I no longer cook meat, but only fish... and I only eat it cooked (I've already seen that vitamin pills don't go very well with raw meat anymore). Otherwise only closed (and healthy... NOT "unknown") cans of industrial meat that I find around. I've never had any problem like that. I also tried a few times (in the standard 1.25) to make the swamp water drinkable by boiling it for a few minutes: and it worked. Now I wonder... *) Is it a "new feature" to get a disease for no apparent reason? *) Is it an unforeseen "bug"? *) Is it an effect of something I didn't quite understand? (I read that animals can infect the grass as they pass... and someone can get sick? By vomiting and blurring their vision?). With 2x vitamin pills it goes away... Never happened before. Does anyone know anything about it? -
How can you search for servers that have your favorite mods?
Riddick_2K replied to scullyluke's topic in General Discussion
Try this: battlemetrics.com ๐ -
Is it a random bug or is there a way to do it on purpose? I'd be curious to try it... ๐
-
I would also agree with a good part of what you write, but: *) As I have already argued for another topics (valid for all aspects of DayZ)... DayZ is a gigantic arcade, in some aspects a bit realistic, in others completely out of any reality of this universe (I do not make lists)... You CANNOT change just one aspect of the game... justifying the "greater realism"... without also changing/fixing all the other aspects of the game related to what you are changing... you do not "improve" the game... you "mess it up" even more. *) To all those who use the "greater realism" argument to "explain" the reasons for their requests to modify the game... unfortunately... I remember this: ๐ ยฏ\_(^~^)_/ ยฏ

Hi. In this forum you will hardly find any help on such a specific and complex problem. You should open a ticket on the B.I. "feedback" site. They have to read inside the dump file and logs and they will be able to tell you where the problem is. ๐

Hi. First of all, I've never done anything like this, and I use Google translations... but they still told you inaccurate things. *) NVGs are not spawned in the map with the "normal" loot since a few patches. Now they are only inside the events (deloot="1") which are "dynamic" by themselves. *) In "mapgroupproto.xml" are listed the coordinates of all the spawn points of the various houses, sheds, containers, etc... if you don't modify the buildings or the map, I don't see what use it could be. *) I don't know of any file called "cfgdefinitions"... I think... But as I said, I've never done it... That you should modify, in some way, the "cfgspawnabletypes.xml" file, which is the one that defines the attachments in various types of objects and infected. But I couldn't tell you how to do it for NVGs. Try copying the structure of some objects changing the names and see if it works... in an offline server, of course. The main object should be "NVGHeadstrap", and "NVGoggles" and "Battery9V" as attachments. Maybe setting a lot of "NVGHeadstrap" in "types.xml" to make it easier to check if it works. If you use some administration tools it would make it much easier to check. Maybe, if you want to have a server without mods, once you find the right configuration, remove the administration mods and put online only the "Vanilla" version. If someone knows more, it is welcome. Let us know how it goes, maybe if you find the solution it could be useful to someone else who will come to look for it in this forum. ๐

Remove Bottle Suppressors and rework actual suppressors.
Riddick_2K replied to FuzzyBear182's topic in Suggestions
Plumber's metal pipe + hacksaw = short metal pipe. Short metal pipe + teddy bear (for padding) or clothes (made of strips of canvas) or padded jacket (also for padding) = Improvised suppressor. Depending on the type of padding it has a longer or shorter lifespan (always unrealistic, but a bit more "believable"), and to "regenerate" it, just put the padding back. The lifespan could also vary based on the caliber. The animations can remain the same (we have the same animations for most things anyway). It would need some new textures and changing the construction combinations. Not too much work. -
I don't think this type of error is due to "an old character", it's a problem that affects many people and I've read many about it, but I don't think it's ever been solved. It's pissed me off a few times in the past, but I just waited for it to "go away on its own". Sometimes in all servers, sometimes only in some. Then, as it came, so it went away... on its own. I also tried everything I found on the net... (also search for "WaitAuthPlayerLoginState") but nothing had changed the problem... just waiting for it to "go away on its own". I'm sorry I can't help more. Try opening a ticket on the B.I. Feedback site, maybe they can help... ยฏ\_(^~^)_/ ยฏ

Premise that I don't know the answer, I don't use those programs, but... why don't you try? They don't "dirty" DayZ and I don't think they're considered "cheats" by Battleye. Some monitors do it with their own internal software (I had one, but I didn't like the little cross). Otherwise you can do what I did a few decades ago on one of my old CRTs: I put a little arrow (or whatever you want), of black adhesive (electrician's tape or adhesive coating for shelves), on the glass of the monitor so that it indicated exactly the center of the screen. Some FPS didn't have the "center of the screen" and I was missing that indication. ๐

Hi. I don't know why but they blocked my reply... ๐ค
-
Hey, hello. Thanks for updating me. This, I guess, for player accounts... but for the duplication procedure? Did you manage to find out how they do the duplication? This is not so much of interest to "Battleye", but it should be the DayZ programmers, so as to implement something to make that procedure impossible... ๐ค

Wait, now I think I understand what you meant by territories. I honestly don't know, I've never tried it. However, I've heard of packs of bears of up to 5/6 individuals. It seems unlikely to me that in those servers they started adding so many coordinates in all the spawn points. I think... but it's my idea... that the game, if it has to generate multiple animals in the same point: either it generates them anyway close together... or it waits for the first one to move and generates the second one. I repeat that I've never seen this type of behavior in person. First try without any changes and see what happens (an administration tool would make it much easier for you to verify). If it works, that's fine. If it really doesn't work, keep creating other spawn points close together as a last resort... which is a lot of work. To simplify, you could... first save the original file... I hope you will always save the originals and also the various subsequent changes with a progressive name, to be able to return to the previous situations if something goes wrong... then modify the territories file, leaving only one... so you can check directly in that territory... maybe in the open countryside if there is one like that. I'm sorry I can't recommend anything else, but it's something I've never done. ยฏ\_(^~^)_/ ยฏ

Well... actually the events should start regardless of your presence. Try with a bird's eye view administration tool. You can "visit the map", "bird's eye view" without being physically present... and you can see various events that activate without the presence of any player. You don't need to add territories, if you don't want the bears to spawn in other unplanned places. If you want multiple bears "simultaneously" (in a pack), you need to work on <children>. Take for example the wolves, which arrive in a pack. Keep in mind, however, that DayZ bears are "ultra-terrestrial", they are not "realistic" bears. Have you ever tried to kill one? I hope so, before I start modifying the settings. Generally the bear packs are found on servers with at least the special weapon mods (and with traders to sell the skins), otherwise, with only the Vanilla weapons it becomes a feat. With a vaiga and a 20-round magazine (Buckshots, not Slugs... they are much better), I managed to kill at most 3, but the 4th one tore me to pieces... after you kill the first one, the others come running and are deadly. The radius you mentioned, there are actually 3: <saferadius>: if I remember correctly, it should be the radius in which the event does NOT occur because the player is too close. <distanceradius>: the radius within which two equal events can occur. <cleanupradius>: the radius in which, if there is no one, the event's disappearance timer starts. Keep in mind that there is also the "globals.xml" file where the "CleanupLifetimeDeadAnimal" entry is set... which determines the disappearance time of the meat of the killed animals. To increase the bears, try to take inspiration from the "AnimalCow" voice, which is a bit more "quiet and human" as a generation than that of the wolves. And it will already be quite a feat to take them down. Just out of curiosity: Are you setting up a Vanilla server without mods, or are you planning to add mods? Not for anything else, but the administration mods are very convenient for many things, even just checking the changes to events and generations. ๐ Last note. It's been a while since I've touched my servers (one vanilla and one modded)... I hope I haven't written any inaccuracies... Anyone who finds an error is welcome for corrections. And I hope that Google translations are understandable. ๐
-
@felipecidade First of all, sorry but I don't know English and I have to use Google translations... and I have some trouble understanding exactly what you're saying. I don't know what exactly programmers can do, only they know that. From what I can imagine, however, the best thing would be to know the procedure they use to duplicate, so programmers could find a way to block that procedure. Try opening a private ticket on the feedback site, explain the problem and everything you know and see what they say. ๐ค I'm sorry but I really don't know how to help you more than that. I hope my English (the one translated with Google) is understandable.
-
@felipecidade If you know they are duplicating, do everything you can to find out how (without exaggerating and without getting caught), but finding out the system would be more useful than banning them, because it could allow the programmers to block that system. You would be doing a great service to all honest DayZ players. ๐ ๐
-
If you have proof, that's a great thing. Collect as much material as you can and report them to the B.I. Feedback site. https://feedback.bistudio.com/project/view/2/ But open a "private" ticket so as not to publicly disclose personal material. And also on Steam, but for Steam I don't know exactly how and where. Good luck, if you manage to get some "smart guys" banned, that's always a good thing. ๐ P.S. Do you also know what system they use to duplicate? That would be very useful to describe to the DayZ programmers, so they can find the system to block it. If you don't know, before reporting them, have them explain it well ๐
-
For the player. You should have some evidence. I also knew someone who used cheats (just from my country), but unfortunately I have no evidence because I didn't record him doing it (he caught me off guard). If you don't have any evidence, I'm afraid you won't be able to conclude anything. For duplication. If you have some more specific information, open a "private" ticket (so as not to disclose the system) to the feedback site explaining what you know. ๐
-
Well, premises that I have no experience with PvP, and that from what I've seen around you can shoot through several types of walls without using cheats (the video was old, I don't know if the problem has been fixed). However, the fact remains that you were in a position that was not visible from anything outside (you can see it in the video when you enter the room), and you were killed with a single shot... not a random burst... this had to be a decent caliber (even to pass through walls), from afar (because there was no one in the room... unless it was an invisible cheater who passes through walls), and it had to know exactly your position without being able to see it. In my opinion, too many "strange" conditions to be realistic in the "normal" game, but if someone can prove me wrong... I'll wait. Try opening a ticket on the feedback site, attaching the video, the server where it happened and the time... they will never say anything to you or anyone else, but maybe it could help them do something... it's always a hope, even if the battle against the "cheaters" will always be very, very long... I'm afraid. The only advice I can give you: avoid servers that are too crowded, that's where the "cheaters gathering" is created. If you're looking for survival and PvE, it's fine, if you're looking for "brawling" and PvP, unfortunately... that's how it is, you have to resign yourself. ๐

types.xml: nominal & min I didn't understand a thing.
Riddick_2K replied to Riddick_2K's topic in Servers
I forgot about this thread. Okay... I wrote it wrong... I didn't mean "quantmax" and "quantmin", but "nominal" and "min", only that I wrote "nominal" as "max" since it is the maximum number of spawns of the item. "quantmax" and "quantmin" refer to the amount of items present in other items that contain them (ammo inside magazines). "nominal" and "min" refer to the amount of items spawned inside the game. It was a typo on my part. -
Hello everybody. Despite a few years of modifying my vanilla server, now that I've started assembling a modded one I find myself with a doubt that had never occurred to me before. Given that I don't know English and I have to use Google (which sucks), the point is the translation I find on the explanation of the "min" & "max" values in the "types.xml" file. Until now I hadn't worried about it, roughly I know what they mean, but now that I would like a specific weapon to be present in the issue of 1, and that as soon as it is taken, only one is born, I have this doubt. The "max" is the number of items the economy will generate once the item minimum is reached. Ok, but the minimum is "exactly" what ? The number "at which" the restoration of the object starts? Or the number "under which" the restoration of the object starts? I hope Google has translated it correctly (this is where my problem arises too ๐ ) Not all mods provide the "types.xml" file and the ones I find "suggested" around are often inaccurate. Now... To understand better: if I want only one object always present in my server I should set... max = 1 & min = 0 or max = 1 & min =1 Is there anyone who already knows it well and saves me hours of tests and various "messes"? Thank you Errata corrige: I'm sorry for the mistake and I'm sorry to have corrected it after a long time. I already explained the reason for the mistake in the post of September 8th. Today I thought it was necessary to correct the title too because it could generate confusion in searches, both within this forum and on Google. I myself, very often, am directed to this forum starting from Google searches, and the title is a significant part of Google's display in the search window.
