Why Some players can join this server and other can't
Riddick_2K replied to Symoji's topic in Troubleshooting
Sorry if I ask you something OT: is your server rented from a provider or do you run it on your own hardware? 🙏 -
A scheduled maintenance a few days after a fairly substantial official patch and with a reconversion of many servers (due to the new map) ?!? And the server where I play, after 2 hours, goes offline and comes back continuously, but only the hardware part (it sends the ping back), but the software part still doesn't respond (it still doesn't let you in and the time is always 08:00 standard). It seems more like an attempt to repair something, than a "simple" maintenance. Also for this reason I hadn't immediately checked the maintenance thread, I had only read the patch one. 😕
-
OK... I saw the notice now... 😐
-
I checked the Battlemetrics graphs of various servers I keep an eye on and it seems they all went offline shortly after 08:00 GMT. I can't find one that's working at the moment. If it was an update they would have warned earlier, I think... I hope they'll be back up and running in the morning. 🙁

Searching for public servers on Chernarus+ (with Battlemetrics) I saw that there are still some servers that run with the old version of the game... and they are also populated. How is this possible? For example: 3635 | ASIA PACIFIC - SG 128.0. 112.57:11100 (Game Port) 128.0. 112.57:11101 (Query Port) Version: 1.26.158752 And it is still populated... few but they play it. If I search for it with the "red" launcher (DZSA), I can't find it, I try to check on its page and it tells me that "server is running the wrong game". If I search for it with the "black" launcher (original vanilla) I can't find it. A Battlemetrics error? Or does this official server actually exist, with an old version, and is it possible to enter and play somehow?
-
I don't play Sakhal, but I've also noticed a drop in frame rate on the Chernarus+ map, and sometimes even a bit of stuttering.

I don't know if it is a problem with Google's translation, but it seems to me obvious that I don't agree with you because I consider your statements wrong. Maybe you're right and I'm wrong, but at the moment, if nobody shows me and convinces me that I am wrong, I continue to believe that you are wrong. I do not discuss that "traveling light" has its advantages, I just say that they would not have to "force everyone" to travel lightly. A choice had to remain. In this game we have so little crafts and a lot ... exaggerated ... consumption of everything ... out of any reality. Nobody will manage to convince a player who only enjoys "hunting humans", to collaborate with them ... certainly not with these "ploys". It is a question of mentality and vision of the game: those looking for survival and the (potential) collaboration between the surviving humans, there is no modification of the game that can make it change ... it will still make a "quiet and collaborative" game . For those who enter the game with the only goal of arming themselves and hunting the other players, he will always and in any case ... and if, due to some changes in the game, he will no longer be able to do it, he will abandon the game. They are two completely different and incompatible visions of the game. In any case, I remember that we are talking about the "official public" version, of course. On private servers you can do everything you want: there are the mods that inhibit the killings between players, for those looking for only PVE, and there are all possible changes to encourage the PVP (also completely eliminate the infected). I remain of the idea that the reduction of space in the inventory penalizes only those looking for survival alone and, for this reason they must carry everything you need (so much, too much in this unrealistic game). Those looking for only the PVP, just a few weapons and a little ammunition, so much "light travel" from before, and he does not need a lot of material, he will take him so much from those who have killed, or ... if he is killed, not He will need more. And, to conclude ... Having less spaces in the inventory will increase the KOS even more: what is the fastest system to find tools and accessories (which you can no longer take with you) if not the first player you see in front of you?!? However, it is now so ... we will adapt. What is curious, however, is that if you look at the community servers, the majority are PVP. The PVE are a minority. So it remains a choice that I don't understand. If they had wanted to "free the public servers", they would have had to "disadvantage" the PVP, making the players "migrate" to private servers ... but this changes disadvantage the pve, but they are the minority of the players. Conversely, with this modification, they do not help the PVP, because almost nothing changes ... whoever seriously made the PVP "traveled light" from before ... and nobody "prohibited" to do it. The players of the PvE (who "traveling heavy") were of the best loots when they could load more stuff ... they were heavier and more clumsy and, killing them, you could acquire much more booty. It is a change that, in my opinion (from any point of view I try to look at it), makes no sense and is not useful to anyone. Only the "smart ones" of "easy killing" can get some advantage, but also the very small one, because it does not need to have many weapons to be "dangerous and hidden": the Deagle in 357 is the most powerful gun of the game and the 12 caliber in pallettoni is the most powerful ammunition, and you can still keep a sawn-off shotgun inside a jacket or backpack. A mosin inside the backpack is useless. But that is not the purpose of the change, otherwise they would have done much better in another way. And I continue to think that those who only seek the clash between players have the wrong game. ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯

Remove Bottle Suppressors and rework actual suppressors.
Riddick_2K replied to FuzzyBear182's topic in Suggestions
Sure, but it's just a video game, it will NEVER be realistic and the programmers don't even want it to be (and you can see also from what they do). A metal tube stuffed with rags is a little "less absurd" than a plastic bottle with duct tape. I know that suppressors are made, roughly, like the old mufflers of 2-stroke engine expansion exhausts, it's not a secret, but in DayZ NOTHING (or almost) is realistic... and it never will be. It's just a matter of making it a little "less absurd" than it is now... maybe in a simple way and with objects already present in the game. The more "complex" the suggestion is, the more difficult it will be "accepted" and used... if it's "simple to do", maybe... ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯ -
I don't know how long you've been playing, but don't spread misinformation! 1) First of all, bears do NOT come to get you... at least on public Vanilla servers... if there are mods that modify the behavior of bears, I don't know, but on vanilla servers, definitely NOT. They spawn and go about their business, roar every now and then (to make themselves heard), get up to look around and continue calmly going about their business. If you hear them, you can safely avoid them, and even if you are in sight, as long as they don't see you, they will continue to do their business calmly. 2) Many animals have parasites, even those commonly eaten (like pigs), but it's not a problem, with good cooking you can kill them all and the meat becomes edible. Search online for valid information on animal and meat parasites and a whole new world will open up to you. Now it's hard to find bear meat just because they have become protected, but not so many years ago it was also found in restaurants... 3) The DayZ bear, like many other things, HAS NOTHING REALISTIC... (it seems to come from the planet Krypton, Superman's) and the programmers have no intention of making DayZ "realistic" It's just a gigantic arcade, a bit believable, a bit absurd and a bit out of this World (and from this universe and its physical laws). Get over it. ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯

I understand the principle that wolf meat, since the herds go to look for the player, could be a kind of "home food" ... so far, for the well -armed players, it has also been so. As far as I assure you that they have gone more to me than food, since when you are hungry they never come, even if you go to look for them ... they only come when they don't need to feed you and break my balls when you are doing anything else. But patience. But I just don't understand the bear! *) There are few (fortunately). *) It doesn't come looking for you. *) It seems raining from another planet from what resistant is to the strokes of all kinds (I make every patch a ranking of the shots necessary to break down a bear for every caliber, I assure you that these bears do not come from this planet!) *) The bear hunt was fun for many players, and a lucrative deal in some servers modding. *) The meat, all the meat, is ridiculously scarce of nutrients, much more than fish, vegetables and fruit, in proportion to reality. Why do this change also for bears that do not bring any type of "free food" anywhere? Why poison the meat of this animal that allowed one of the beautiful, "classic", and fun "natural" pastimes in DayZ: the harsh hunting and the grilled celebration with its meat? Moreover, since the leather work is not yet functioning ... "serious" gap in a game like this. For the foregoing: I BEG YOU... Leave the eatable bear meat. At least only after roasted it. Maybe boiled and smoked that remains infected, but roasted well that it becomes eaten again. At least think about it ... Thank you. ================================================= This is what I wrote in: https://feedback.bistudio.com/t183799 If someone shares it, it is warmly invited to add the ticket Otherwise comment it below as usual ... Add cold resistance for Sakhal and remove ambient footsteps anxiety bait
Riddick_2K replied to blueshorts44's topic in Suggestions
Oh... LOL... Thanks for the answer... this game is getting more and more absurd and stupid, huh ?!? I've been wondering, since the Battlefield days, why there are people who buy video games before they are released on the market just... "on trust"... 🤔 This goes for ALL video games, huh... 🙁 -

What is "ambient footsteps bait" ? -
If is only for this, it would have been enough to put a block for long weapons in backpacks and clothes... without ruining the overall storage capacity. And these comments... if there was still a need for them... demonstrate that this change is of interest above all to those who use DayZ as if it were a war FPS and "hope" to catch the poor defenseless victim... Those who do survival he misses the ability to carry things... and those who don't "look for trouble", don't care if someone hides a weapon in the backpack or jacket... they avoid it and won't have problems anyway. The way I see it: those who go looking for "the trouble", it's right that they find "unwelcome surprises"... a sort of karma, let's say... 😄

@Sean_87__ And you are right to express your opinion, but you also have to accept if not everyone agrees. What would be, in your opinion, "the right direction"? As I have already written in other threads, you cannot take an aspect of the game (such an important one, then) and modify it without modifying everything that revolves around it... you do not fix the game, but you make it even more "crazy". If you are looking for "realism", unfortunately, in this game you will never be satisfied... certainly not in the public vanilla one. The reduction of slots creates more problems than advantages, and mainly for those who try to survive alone and as a "lone wolf" without bases or deposits. This player is the one who pays the most with this change. Those who are only looking for "extreme PvP" will change little. Those who play just to "mess around" (without a real purpose in the game other than "wasting time") will not change anything. For me, who plays for pure survival and tries to avoid any interaction with anyone, it was just a damage to the game. I do not see any "advantages", much less "greater realism"... for that there would be many other changes to make, which I already know they will never do... also because some were deliberate choices. I think that what I quoted, in the previous port, should be enough to understand that this game will NEVER be realistic "by deliberate choice of the programmers", so... give up this expectation: it will NEVER be satisfied. The choices they make DO NOT go in this direction. What this direction is, then, I have never understood... (I have my own idea, but I can't report it in this forum...). I also remember that we are talking about the official public version, not the personal modified versions... obviously.

Actually this "IS" a DLC: there is not "just" a map, but also updates of objects (the Rubber Boat is a good thing), animals (I read about a reindeer, a trout, a shrimp), and mechanics on cold management (for players and objects)... and many of these things have also been added to the base game for free. I am always very critical of the B.I., but objectively this "IS" a DLC, and few companies add things developed for the DLC even on the base version for free. Then DayZ is always DayZ... it continues to have defects, even serious and even "ancient" ones... with each patch they fix something and break something else... (unfortunately)... but this "IS" a DLC in all respects. Nobody forces you to buy it. And it seems to me that it is not even very expensive. 😉

You know that this is just a "video game", yes? That it is not, nor wants to, become realistic, yes? I am also sorry about this, but that is: And All that remains is to open a personal server and, with settings and mods, create the "desired DayZ" ... I don't think there are alternatives. In my opinion, however, the "public vanilla" version should remain a little "simpler" (in general) to favor and help new players, perhaps with greater differences with the "HC" version Now there is only the dark night and the 1-person view to make the difference between the two versions ... It would be nice and useful if they made it much, much more difficult (- loot, + diseases, Infected that kill, etc ...) also for the difference with the "normal" version, perhaps also made a little "easier" than it is now. Not like now, 2 practically identical versions ... it makes no sense and it is a waste of time and resources to manage them. For the rest, custom servers remain... ¯\_(^~^)_/ ¯

The hacker problem, open discussion - Player: "Have you gotten banned at all from official servers?" Hacker: "Once, in the past three years."
Riddick_2K replied to dunafornicator's topic in General Discussion
As above, only in the overcrowded server is there a "Hacker Gathering", avoid those... and I say this against my own interest... then it also depends on what you are looking for: if you are only looking for survival, a half-empty server is perfect... if you are looking for a fight, obviously, not. But if you are looking for a fight, perhaps a modded server built specifically could be the right choice... always considering that the administration, often (unfortunately), is arrogant and fraudulent. Many praise community servers and their "good administration"... I fear these are just comments derived from "friendship with these administrations"... I have tried several and rarely found myself well (never very well, only a few "not terrible" administrations), for the rest... either you are part of "their friends", or you have to kiss their ass and agree with everything, otherwise you become a target of badness. I could make a long list... In the official servers it is true that there is no "control", but it is also true that there is no "official bullying"... and that is no small thing. -

First you challenge the language regulation (rightly so) and then you answer him in Russian?!? What's the point? 🤔

Has anyone managed to find, in an experimental server with 1.26, an Alice backpack? How many slots does it have?
-
I played on "temporary" servers for a few "Wipes", then I abandoned them only because they were too full (I'm not looking for a fight)... so many, many months. And I have some, in my browser's favorites (the battlemetrics.com server page) that are still alive after years. Server deletion notices, generally, can be found in this thread: https://forums.dayz.com/topic/249440-general-server-notice/ I don't know how early... try to see when the announcements are and when the announced closure is... and make a statistical average. 😉

From what you describe, at first glance, it shouldn't create generations inside events. What seems "weird" to me (but I don't know the effects of this), is that: *) You have the same number for "nominal", "min" & "max"; but this shouldn't be a problem. *) You have an exaggerated number of "<child>", much more than the vehicle's generation number. "<child>" should be used to "distribute" the generation of objects between multiple "sub-types" of the same object (vehicle red, vehicle black, blue vehicle). Even if in theory it shouldn't have any effect, but... considering that DayZ is DayZ (even the one that is set correctly, sometime, works badly...), maybe it generates "weird" effects. But these are all "very imaginative hypotheses" What I can advise you is: *) Make the changes 1x1 and check each time the possible effects... if you are not more than sure of what you are going to change. *) Always keep a copy of the originals, always edit copies, make edited copies with a "progressive name" for each single change you make (for each different file). *) Keep a text file with the list of all the changes... when you have a lot of them, you risk not remembering all the changes you made (it happens to me, but if you have an iron memory, maybe you don't need it). I also save different versions of the mission folder... so I can start different types of servers without changing any changes. In addition to always backing up everything. *) always check the XML files with an online syntax checker, making a typo is too easy and, at the same time, difficult to find by yourself: I can recommend: www.xmlvalidation.com www.truugo.com/xml_validator codebeautify.org/xmlvalidator Try to restore to the previously working situation (hoping you saved the files) and redo the last changes 1x1 and check the effects. If you find the problem, post it below, maybe you can help someone else with the same problem. 😉

They should split the "Hive" between the various maps... so it is absurd and harmful to the game. They do it for "normal" and "HC" servers, where the difference is irrelevant (dark nights vs. light nights & 1P vision vs. 1&3P vision), why don't they do it on completely different maps? This is ridiculous, it ruins the game (different maps with the same "hive") and wastes a lot of potential of the game (2 game modes, "normal" & "HC", with almost no difference). 😧
