Does anyone know what the new parameter "<value name="Unique"/>" which is used together with the various "Tiers" corresponds (in addition, generally)
-
Sorry but I have to use Google translate and I don't understand what your problem is. Do you need the new "types.xml" file?
-
Obviously, no one would tear apart a "commercial" jacket and trousers to make other more "artisanal" ones ... but this feature can be useful for shoes and gloves. I too have not been without shoes for a long time, but I must admit that sometimes I have had to look for any type of shoe on purpose in order not to remain barefoot, and it was not easy ... and the gloves, at the beginning, are useful but not very common. Being able to bandage your hands isn't a bad idea.

Well, you could have imagined that it did not silence it, one of the many "bullshit" of DayZ... moreover, as already pointed out by several people, even the real suppressors do not silence as in the game (even if the Zs arrive anyway, as they had ears like dogs). What I disagree is how the video was made, it seems clear to me that the bottle was badly fasten. However it did NOT break, it just flew away... you could have used her again, even though she would never have muted anything. What is really getting bored in this forum is that sometimes (when it's convenient) it is claimed that "DayZ is a realistic game", then it has to do this and that... other times it is claimed that "DayZ is just a video game not based on realism ", then it has to do this and that. But, unfortunately, I understand it, because they are the same programmers who, with their "questionable" work, do not have a precise direction... and I have been VERY kind with the terms... Anyway I agree that the makeshift bottle is useless bullshit (actually), on the other hand, actually, it's really possible to make decent artisanal suppressors that don't work very badly (although not muted like in the game)... is a video game made badly and very roughly... the thing to "pretend nothing happened" are so many that to continue playing you have to be in love with the game, to endure all the absurdities and unrealities present. Many times I wonder if it makes practical sense to discuss the game in this forum, as well as the "mere vent" of a player frustrated by a very fun game but full of flaws and bullshit. Kind of like "howling at the Moon". Mah... ๐

I don't really see why a single shot would break a plastic bottle wrapped in duct tape: actually, for realism, it should last much longer. As well as EVERYTHING else (shoes, tools, knives ...) DayZ is just that a "huge hodgepodge of bullshit", and it's the 2nd biggest flaw of him. (The 1st is that it is written by dogs and handled worse). Rather, why not add some rags inside to really silence the shot? This could be more realistic... and that with the shots they wear out and need to be replaced ?

Hi. I don't know if I can be useful to you, because I am not an expert in this field, but since nobody has answered you yet, I will try to give you a hand for what I know. If someone wants to correct and / or supplement what I write, if argued they will always be welcome. From what I've seen on my personal server (the one you can download from Steam), DayZ uses almost only 1 processor core, although you set it in the configuration files to use them all. And it mainly uses the CPU. I have used an FX-8300 OC @ 8x4200 (water cooled) for many years and have taken into account it works with MSI Afterburner. DayZ is a poorly written and poorly optimized game. I've always seen only 1 core used almost everything... the others turn their thumbs or almost (if you want I can post the screens of MSI-Afterburner) and as RAM, the simple server without mod's consumed just over 3GB. The client consumes much more. NOTE: I, on the gaming PC, had 22GB (scattered) and generally I put the "pagefile" to the minimum only to be able to save the "dump" file in case of crash. The first time I started the server it didn't work due to RAM problems... After several tests, I had to set the paging file to 8GB fixed (maximum and minimum) and from that time no more problems. Then, I've never had problems in general (apart from the "usual" DayZ bugs), only the vehicles always go awful (and this disproves those who blame the net-code or the network performance, because I've always played on the same PC: server and client). Lately I managed to upgrade the CPU to a Ryzen 7-2700X (at the moment at air with its heatsink, for the switch to water I will see later) and I see that DayZ always continues to use ALL one core while the others "sleep". What I have seen, however, is a slight improvement in vehicle performance (this demonstrates the poor writing and optimization of the game, especially in the vehicle department... as was known, anyway...) It only works for "brute force" of ONLY ONE CORE. Try to optimize this, as I don't think the game will change anytime soon, as it hasn't changed since it came out. I also use a "simple" Crucial BX SSD (S.O., drivers, programs, DayZ) and, as you rightly wrote, I archive my backups in a "classic" HD with "rotating plates" (in my opinion even now more reliable for data storage [and easier to recover from failure]). I use a GTX-1060 6GB, but for gaming (and this too "sleeps" because in any case the processor is not able to send all the data sufficient to make it work as it should)... you don't need this for a server: any "basic" card is just fine. On the "speed" of RAM, I do not argue because I have "general" but NOT specific experiences on DayZ. What I can tell you (generally) is that for some decades I have tried to make the comparison between "dual-channel" and "non" and the practical difference is almost irrelevant (try a "Super-PI" in the 2 situations and see from you the difference. Also tested with Battlefield, notorially CPU-Gluttonous and nothing changes. I have NOT tested with DayZ). The only difference that is known to me (but reading only and NOT as a direct experience) is that Ryzen gains performance with fast RAM. I have NO direct experience if that's true, I have never tested for it . Of all this, my advice. * - CPU first of all, the most powerful you can afford as G-Flops on "single core" (I still think some Intel) * - 8GB should be enough and be left, if you can more it will never suck. I really don't know about the speed. * - A (fairly inexpensive) Crucial BX SSD has always worked for me. But I've never tried an M2: I don't know if the difference is worth the cost. * - A game card, just for a server you don't need a tube. With a server you don't play with it, you just need to view the desktop, folders, and configuration files. A powerful card in 3D is useless (if you don't ALSO use it for gaming, of course). These are my tips, for what I know and for what I have tried. I repeat that any addition or correction, if argued, is always welcome. And... Sorry for my bad english, but I must use Google

I am looking for a PVE server managed in a "civil" way
Riddick_2K posted a topic in General Discussion
I would like to know if there is a "PVE Only" server where the administrator is NOT an arrogant and conceited teenager who thinks he does who knows what and expect to have the players silent and submissive as subjects... and that when a player has a problem, you seriously help him within the limits of his possibilities and/or competences... and don't give a damn always complaining about work, family and "your problem is stupid and I don't care". Is there such a server? And possibly without absurd Mods like mutants or aliens, hordes of skeletons or bears ... just what could happen in a realistic pandemic situation. ๐ -
Hi. Glad you fixed it, but while we're at it, would you be kind enough to explain to me how you run that "scheduler.xml" file on your server to do the cyclic reboot? A link on where it is explained is also fine. Thanks ๐
-
Hi. Anyone know of an XML file tool, which is capable of searching and grouping by element, by attribute and by text... as well as, of course, to modify the file. I don't care about the consistency check, I have other methods to do it. Better if it's also free and portable ๐

Binoculars take up too many inventory slots.
Riddick_2K replied to BERAKAS's topic in General Discussion
The eye zoom is actually a bit "weird", but what's "normal" in DayZ. It seems the party of the absurd and the grotesque... there is very little of "realistic". In my opinion, the zoom of the eye "compensates" for the different global vision that all video games have: you never see how you would actually see. Sometimes a more "generic global" vision is fine, sometimes a more "precise and specific" vision is needed. I feel this especially when I go by car. In reality everything is different (also because I don't risk taking off, but not only ๐). All video games have several "limitations" of various kinds due to "mere flat screen reproduction" (3D is only simulated, of course) and also need some "poetic licenses" to compensate for these inevitable limitations. DayZ, farther, with all the absurdities that programmers have written on purpose, thinking of doing who knows what of "cool"... ๐ I would NOT remove the zoom of the eye, in case a small "reduction" could go. However, in my opinion, the main flaw is not being able to move with looking into an optic: another absurd, unrealistic and very limiting thing. And I too, instead of binoculars, use a rangefinder. And for more magnification, a hunting sight. DayZ, unfortunately, is always DayZ... And if don't change these programmers , it will NEVER change... ๐ -

Hi. I share what you say. You could open a ticket on the Bohemian feedback site. I do not know if they will listen to you (very few times I have read of similar suggestions to get even a response), but it is worth trying. The point is that, as I think you will have noticed since you have been playing for so long, the game has been so defective almost always ... and of "defects" much more "serious" than the size of the binoculars (which, however, you are right and I agree 100% what you say) that to date have never been resolved yet ... I fear that your "battle", even if right, is "a drop in an ocean". Give it a go. If you then post the link, I register too. -
I am looking for a PVE server managed in a "civil" way
Riddick_2K replied to Riddick_2K's topic in General Discussion
@ Roostercake I'll try to take a look, thanks. @ Astalonte But "PvE" is DayZ's "substance"... pandemic survival ... "clashes between humans" are supposed to be only possible secondary events. You should try Battlefield or COD, they are probably more "in tune" with your soul... or even ArmA, if you like very complex FPS... ๐ -
Hi. Thanks so much you are right. I had enabled that file to avoid the "BuildEveriwhere" Mod, but not knowing English I didn't pay attention to the other parameters, which took over. And, moreover, I also made the mistake of insisting on finding the problem even though it was now dawn and I had been struggling all night... a serious mistake to insist on working tired, more damage is done than good things. The next day, with your suggestion, I solved everything. I am left with the problem of the turret being unpacked into pieces, but it depend on the Community Framework Mod...

What happens with personal servers? I didn't use it much anymore, the last patches I just updated the files without adding my "usual" changes, and I haven't used it at night for many months (I had "serverTimeAcceleration = 0" & "serverNightTimeAcceleration = 8"). I decide to reuse it by changing the settings to have the shortest day and the longest night ... and at night I find the black night and the luminous halo around. I go out and stop the server, check the settings and they were still "disablePersonalLight = 1" & "lightingConfig = 0". Reboot and return, but I always find the black night and the light around. I exit and close again, I try to change with "disablePersonalLight = 0" & "lightingConfig = 1" and restart and enter. OK, black night and light around as configured. I go out and stop the server, spare as I wanted ("disablePersonalLight = 1" & "lightingConfig = 0"), restart the server, enter the game and continue to find the black night and the light around. These settings no longer work?!? Is it a bug or have they changed where to set the server characteristics? Anyone know anything about it? Ah, yeah ... And after all these reboots, I even found myself this "joke". What is going on ?
-
To me the opposite on PC. The character seems to go crazy with every slight movement of the mouse, and I can't find where they put the sliders to configure They seem gone. Worst patch ever. At this rate we will no longer play Dayz. edit: Ok, at least I solved: they split the commands and changed its name...
-
But why do you always have to ruin something with each patch?!? Why should the pots deteriorate with use?!? I have my grandmother's pots, which she has been using since before the 2nd WW that still work perfectly... and I still use them sometimes. Why always these unrealistic nonsense?!? You do it on purpose !!! You have a great game, at hand... you already have considerable difficulties in repairing it (it has been under everyone's eyes for years), but why want to ruin it on purpose? I don't understand... From which "hell of the grotesque" do you get these crazy ideas?!? ๐ก
-
"Respect" is not something that is "granted out of servility" but must be something that "is earned by merit". Do you play DayZ? Do you know him well? Have you ever played any other games? If all the answers are affirmative you should WELL understand what I stand for (and not just me, when I speak in person many others think the same but do not have the courage to write it openly in the forums). If the answer is no: Play DayZ more and then try some other games too... This way you will understand better what I mean... maybe... Then, we must also see IF you have the courage to admit it publicly ๐

Why not ? If it doesn't happen it will only be because programmers are incapable, not because it wouldn't be useful and nice ...

So is this is now just another generic shooter?
Riddick_2K replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
You are confusing and mixing things up. How it is born is another matter, it has nothing to do with the level of hunger in the game. And it is also "NOT exact" that everything is speeded up because the day night cycle is speeded up. It is NOT proportional. Test in a TIME 1x server how much is the consumption of a battery with the NVG, for example... ALWAYS EQUAL to 6x servers (with one battery you do not spend the night, in 6x servers one battery advances)... BUG? Stupid choice? I don't know, but the "speeded up life = accelerated consumption" it is not true, it does not work like that DayZ. Try and check for yourself. I don't care about "Spaggies", I ONLY talk about Vanilla Servers. Try them first, then go back to talking about them. On Vanilla servers (the real ones) animals are rare. I manage anyway because I only play on sparsely populated servers and by now I know the game, but already on medium-high ones the food would not be enough for everyone! But it is obvious that very few care about it, because all those who go to medium/high population servers only go to exterminate each other, nobody cares about hunger. That's the point! Every now and then, someone who would like to "survive the pandemic" and NOT replicate a War FPS... but DON'T know the game well, come to the forum and RIGHTLY complain, and you "who usually live the forum" attack him with "things NOT true" and doing the badasses. THAT bothers me! What they should do, in my opinion, is make DayZ as realistic as possible ... "normal" hunger, "normal" food, "normal" material consumption ... I would also make the "normal" times (the days of 1 hour or 1 & 1/2 hour RL are ridiculous). And if you like it well, otherwise there is a large group of MODs that you can make DayZ anything you want. But the "standard" game should be as realistic as possible. About "EDIT": I'm not one of the programmers, and seeing how the game is going, I have been coming here to complain every now and then: THIS IS a suggestion. And I do it because "the topic" (of this game) is fun and I haven't found an alternative that is at least decent yet. Writing what is wrong is already his suggestion, perhaps the most important one: the one that points out the bullshit! It would be stupid to list the good stuff (only "enthusiastic children" and "panders" do), just get rid of the bullshit and the game could be (almost) perfect (bugs aside). The concept should be obvious! Who does not appreciate it (on "the merits", of course... on "the ways" we can discuss... but often here and on Steam I have seen the "forum pack" denigrate the "complaining loner"... they seem to be paid by B.I. for "make run away dissent", and make DayZ appear "nice and working" ๐ ) either he doesn't understand it (his problem) or he DOESN'T WANT to understand... and against bad faith there is nothing that can be done. For this reason I have also opened some bug tickets (partially solved, after many months and without even a "thanks for the time lost to report") and some comments and suggestions on other defects found by others... (as I had not written nothing). If this game weren't so funny, I would have already trashed it for a long time... is that seeing it go on in these conditions, and worse and worse... and also reading about people who are happy about it... I'm really embittered ๐ -
So is this is now just another generic shooter?
Riddick_2K replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
It is still not clear to me if you are really a "masocchist" or just a "forum braggart". BOH?!? However that animals are everywhere is bull*hit. On MOD servers maybe, but on Vanilla ones NO! And with this latest patch it seems to me that we also need to eat more. It looks like a "cooking" game instead of a survival game. Where I specify WELL: "survival" does NOT necessarily mean "having to starve"! As I see it, the FIRST rule of any video game MUST be the "verisimilitude", otherwise it becomes an unplayable crap ... and the "balance of the game" or the "fun challenges" I wipe the rear! My point of view, of course. ๐ -
So is this is now just another generic shooter?
Riddick_2K replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
Has the loot modified? But you can't think that the whole purpose of this game is ONLY to get some special weapon ... And after that? Use it to kill someone? DayZ is so much more, or at least it should be. And all the context that revolves around (infected, destroyed society, etc.) this is the game. If not really, it's best to play BF or CoD. Then M16 is crap, much better an M4, just to say. But in DayZ, even a FAL or a VSD, are useless and out of context weapons. If they disappeared, the "real" game would not change. It's not (or at least it shouldn't be) a War FPS. It is precisely adding these useless weapons and making them "a hard target" that makes this game stupid and literally "wastes" all of its great "survival" potential. But that's just my point of view, of course. And an addition that I forgot before. The hunter jacket can be found in campsites and hunter turrets, it is quite common, a leather jacket you have to build with other materials to find, after killing some animals, it is more difficult to have. Nobody will have a leather jacket before a hunter's one. And the leather one is better than the hunter's one, it has 1 more HotBar slot and absorbs less. This would be the way to "favor" the "survival" ... allow the construction in leather and make it better than the best "industrial" jacket (as characteristics) -
So is this is now just another generic shooter?
Riddick_2K replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
Where do you play? Not on vanilla servers. On vanilla servers you can only find food if no one has been there before, as long as someone is born just before you and you can't find anything. Loot is static NOT dynamic. it's always the same you have to share it with others. And the infected rarely have food. The only way to avoid dying as a newborn and being born on an empty server. If you are already equipped and inside, animals are not that common either. The only real possibility is: *) if you have time to waste, grow pumpkins (the only ones that satiate you a little) but you have to have more than an hour to lose and you can't go away to do anything else, that the plants rot and disappear in 2 hours (even on Mars it doesn't work like this, other than realism!) *) if you don't have much time, but you have water nearby, you can fish ... but you must have the equipment to throw away, because it wears out as if you were using it in a foundry to cast steel, not for fishing. And you have to cook, if you don't have the vitamin pills (bad system NOT realistic, too "stupid-arcade", this one) and to mount the worms you have to take everything apart and put it back together ... an idiotic system, probably done because unable to do it differently and more realistic. Even cooking, after all, is unrealistic, when you have to get up every time you change steak. It's all very stupid and badly done... but at least you eat ... But it is absurd that you can eat a whole cow (if you find it) and be hungry the next day. It's all very very stupid, other than "arcade". Giving DayZ some "arcade" would be a compliment! But what other weapons should they put into a survival game? The tanks?!? This game already has too many weapons and absurdly useless. The motivation should be to "survive the pandemic", or to change the game. I have the whole Battlefield series too, but it's another game. There I go to kill people, it's a war, that's the game. In DayZ NO! In DayZ it's about surviving the infected and deprivation of skipped society, not exterminating each other among "bored players". If someone "gets bored" trying to survive, let them change their game. This should be the direction of the game, in my opinion, NOT what I see these programmers have. Indeed, to be honest, I fear that they do NOT have a "precise direction", but they travel on sight (depending on the mood of the market) and how they "be able" (they try to repair what they can: very little I see.) What I don't understand are the absurd deliberate choices (fences and tents impossible to assemble, backpacks to be emptied to store, put "special" items and then make them impossible to find for the many, but giving it away to a lucky few and cheaters, etc), they seem to hate the game or the players. And about the leather jackets: I don't know if WikiDayz is right or not, but look at the characteristics of the various jackets. Even if you are not a "survival enthusiast" like me and you are "proud" to get yourself the leather jacket ... look at the weight, waterproofness, heat, storage space and additional slots and compare it with the others jackets. They are not to be thrown away, on the contrary. And colored in dark brown it is also quite camouflage. Not trying to kill my neighbor, for me, the military camo is just an "aesthetic whim" (as an old militaria collector and I still use camo or green military clothing in RL) What has certainly changed is the symbol of the stomach (with the 3 arrows upwards) which arrives earlier and remains more time before being able to eat again. It takes you a lot longer to get your fill. But it seems to me that even after eating the maximum (with the single arrows alternating up and down... and the stomach symbol) it takes less time than once before you see the apple empty and have to eat again. And after that you can eat a whole cow and a few wolves again, to be full again. Forcing continuous eating, as well as being very stupid and completely unrealistic, will NOT make most people abandon "pew pew pew". The "problem" of "pew pew pew" is much more complex and articulated, and given how the "quality" of the various patches is going, I don't think it will ever be "solved", on the contrary it will get worse and worse. Get ready to call this game "BattleDayZ" or "Call Of DayZ" -
So is this is now just another generic shooter?
Riddick_2K replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
You are talking about another game, NOT DayZ. Food is NOT that common! And with this latest patch you are even hungrier than before, which is absurd and grotesque. The problem with "pew pew pew" is because they keep adding weapons taken from ArmA (which is easy and of little work) and they don't add "survival" things: all constructions with skins (jackets, pants, belts...), the arches, make it more and more difficult to build fences and place tents in the woods and instead make it easier and easier to destroy them. There are few vehicles and they don't work never. And many other things... ALL this, coupled with the fact that so many players are looking for the fight as if it were the only source of fun (and these programmers favor this idea) and this is how DayZ is becoming, patch after patch, more and more a stupid FPS of war. -
If it is "deloot" is ONLY on helicopter crashes. Is one of the biggest bad things they have done, putting it together with "count_in_player =1". At this point it would have been better to remove them completely. The most important and / or advantageous things SHOULD be either for everyone or for no one... Maybe hard to get, but "democratic" for everyone. As it was before it was fine, even with its flaws (the whole loot system is very flawed), but it was democratic. Now it is too unbalanced for some lucky ones or for the cheater or groups/clans of dupers Great bad move for this game. For something that is not only for killing, but for all night activities, hunting, fishing, looting, construction, etc.
-
Instead, have you ever thought that in DayZ it is precisely PvP that ruins survival against the pandemic? In fact, if you don't want them, what are you playing in DayZ? IF you want to kill your neighbor without infected between the feet, a "classic" Battlefield, CoD... or ArmA if you like extreme complexity... wouldn't they be more suitable and satisfying? ๐
