I took a boat all the way to Plotina Toshina dam.
Riddick_2K replied to Daricles's topic in General Discussion
So what? Are you ruining the game to prevent anyone from playing it? It makes no sense. ๐ As it is now, they could have saved themselves the effort! I just hope that, sooner or later (I haven't checked yet), at least some mod is born to modify this behavior and make the dinghies be used as they should be: like in reality. But we always return to the problem that the game has great potential, but the "Vanilla" version is constantly "castrated" by a management that seems to do it on purpose to ruin the game... and the only real possibility of playing a "decent" DayZ (realistic or, as advertised: "authentic") is to find (or make it yourself) a well "modified" server. Isn't all this absurd?!? ๐ P.S. Among other things, this new feature has ruined a lot of important mods... -
I am NOT the one who has to look for evidence of your statements (biased and specious, then). ๐คจ You are good at going around things, chatting a lot and mystifying things with words... it doesn't work with me. And remember one thing: insult is the weapon of those who are wrong and have no other arguments for contest (general concept, eh...) Have a nice day... ๐

You are just very good at small talk... but it only works for "simple minds". Anyone with a "normal" IQ, immediately understands the situation. Just this, since you specifically wrote it and did NOT beat around the bush with too much small talk: Search the definition of "authentic" online. by collinsdictionary.com: " If you describe something as authentic, you mean that it is such a good imitation that it is almost the same as or as good as the original. [cut] Synonyms: real, true, original, actual " Idiot me who still continues to respond to your endless, gimcrack and "academically rhetorical" writings. I will try not to do it anymore, it is just a useless waste of time anyway. ๐ Have a nice day. ๐

Now the infected run towards the player and, if the player is inside a building, they "pose" (and stop) right in front of a window... the one closest to the player... in 80/85% of cases. For the other times, just wait a bit and the infected will get tired of moving and will "pose" like the others. In these cases it is extremely easy to kill them even with a knife (except for very thick walls or strange windows). This can be useful for those who are new and do not yet have the right equipment, but it makes the game very, VERY stupid, as well as "easy"... and a bit "unrealistic", in my opinion... but it can be discussed, since this kind of infected does NOT actually exist (luckily :-P), it is not possible to make direct and precise comparisons with what "should actually be"... just a matter of point of view. However, in my opinion, it would be much nicer and more realistic if: *) The infected, once they saw the human beyond a window, would rush pissed off to the edge of the wall and try to attack him beyond the window (always with broken glass). Simpler but more "scenic". *) The infected would continue to agitate and run around the building, making it difficult to kill them even with a gun, ready to attack the human as soon as he exits the building. Maybe even stopping apparently "cataleptic" behind the entrance door or behind an obstacle in its vicinity... at least for a good amount of time. Protected from the shots beyond the windows, but ready to intervene as soon as the human exits the building (as if a protective instinct had remained imprinted in their minds since they were "healthy", in addition to the aggression acquired by the virus towards "healthy" people). As it works now, it is too easy to escape from the infected (who NEVER kill), run into a house and, from the window, kill them all comfortably and without any risk. BE CAREFUL not to allow (as still happens - BUG) the infected to go through walls and windows. Sooner or later, as soon as I have the right video as proof, I will open a ticket in Feedback.

As in the title: Bring back the infected that kill! This was one of the stupidest changes ever... if we are talking about survival against the pandemic. The infected should be one of the main concerns of the game... even more than the environmental difficulties. It is the "lore" of the game after all. Otherwise, if the only "enemy" of the game must be PvP with the human, then (as some servers and opinions say), we might as well remove all the infected "that disturb PvP" and make it become for all intents and purposes: another "curious" War FPS. ๐

To make it an even more absurd and unrealistic game? NO thanks. Why not with crippled hands... even more difficult... Why not with lame feet... increasingly difficult... Could we make a survival game for the blind? (without a guide dog)... Seriously: Just finding yourself on the coast half naked and without anything is absurd and unrealistic! In the event of a pandemic... either you die immediately or you equip yourself well (vehicle, weapons, medicine, food) and try to escape. THIS is the real beginning of something like this... everything else is bullshit. You have a distorted vision of what a "realistic day zero" should be (also by the description of the game itself, which does not reflect reality). Denying this means denying the reality of the facts. P.S. The beginning of DayZ, as it was written, could be "realistic" only in the case of a shipwreck on a desert island after a storm at sea, NOT a beginning of a survivor of a pandemic (subject of THIS game). Making it even more "ridiculous", would make the WHOLE game even more "ridiculous", without a real advantage in terms of gameplay: in a short time you recover what you do not have at the beginning... already very, very little. The real game begins after... MUCH after... ๐

What do you mean? If you mean that "modders" make better content... that's true... and they don't even have control over the game code, but have to adapt to it. If you mean that the mod is better... I disagree, it completely distorts the game. Taking a war game (ArmA2), modifying it to get a pandemic survival game (ArmA2 DayZ-Mod) making it a game in its own right because it's fun (DayZ SA) and then modifying it to return to a war game... Very smart... But playing directly to ArmA 3, no ?!?

Abundance of ressources conflicts with survival experience
Riddick_2K replied to Presence-'s topic in Suggestions
@Presence- You make a serious basic mistake: the most important thing in this game is LIFE, not objects. Those who don't understand this, haven't understood the very essence of DayZ (a lot of people, I fear...) ๐ -
@Asmondian I've been playing "only" since 2020, I immediately had a vanilla server and, a few years later a modded one (the vanilla one mainly for personal fun and learning, the modded one I had online for a while), I have 2 different accounts (NOT for PvP) and between both I have more than 5000 hours of gameplay. Exclusively interested in the "survival" PvE part... if I have to hunt humans, I have other video games made specifically and better (Battlefield first and foremost. I've been playing it since the 1st title "BF1942"). Having said that... I won't amaze you with special effects but I'll get to the point. I, personally, don't care about any special "artifice" to "continue the game" (missions, high-level monsters, aliens and space-time transports, etc... all bullshit that has nothing to do with the lore of the game.) The game is sold as: "to survive as long as they can, by all means necessary". This is what I bought it for and this is the purpose for which I play it. EVERYTHING else is of no interest to me. I also played a bit of Namalsk, but I didn't care at all about the space transport and the space base on another planet (I think it was supposed to simulate that). I visited it offline with DCOM (DayZ Community Offline Mode), just out of curiosity, but I think it has nothing to do with DayZ, and the "real" purpose of DayZ... in fact... it just distracts from the real purpose of the game. Not that it can't be fun to try to complete that mission, but it's "another game within the main game". It does NOT help DayZ in any way, in fact... it distracts from it. NOTE: Some Battlefield games also had these "games within the game"... more of a "puzzle" than a game. Try searching for "Peackekeeper" from Battlefield 1. I had a blast solving that long puzzle and getting that gun... but then it was over. With "normal and regular" BF1 games it has no purpose... and that gun, moreover, is not even that great: I used it a bit (it randomly makes stupid and annoying animations on its own) and I immediately abandoned it. It was a fun interlude, but it is useless for the game! This is to say what: that the missions or the "strange to visit" points of the game can also be fun to try, but generally they are useless for the main game. What a survival game really needs is that it is: 1) Without big and/or annoying bugs (and this one still has too many). 2) The greatest possible realism (and it has been stated that this game does NOT want to become realistic ๐ ๐ ๐ ) 3) That it is written and managed for what it is: "unforgiving, authentic, open world sandbox online game [cut] follows a single goal - to survive as long as they can, by all means necessary." (and we are not there yet, the list would be long). This is why I do not share your (excellently described) opinion. Adding missions and "various stories" to an open world sandbox does NOT help the "general and long-lasting" gameplay, but "distracts" it. Maybe it will attract new players who will want to experience that "weirdness" seen on YT, but it will not help players who seek survival to continue playing, bug after bug, mistake after mistake, and "absurd and grotesque unreality" after "absurd and grotesque unreality". ๐ป ๐ผ ๐บ ๐ P.S. Can someone give me a game reason why should I buy a winter map DLC when there is already Namalsk for that ? What does "Sakhal" (as a map, I mean) have that is important that "Namalsk" does not have ?!? For survival, I mean, not absurd and grotesque missions.

It would be enough that those who die cannot immediately play DayZ with any of their accounts. Let's say for a day, at least to give a meaning to death. Everything else is speculative contraptions. P.S. Definitely NOT in the same server. On the others we could see and discuss. But they will never do anything like that, they are not really interested in the "realism of the DayZ game"...

As in the title: are the sea tides still there? It seems like bullshit, but if you try to create a warehouse with a barrel on the seashore, the tides are important. If you place it too close, at low tide it risks being discovered and visible from afar. If you place it too far away, at high tide you risk no longer being able to access the barrel and its warehouse. To place it "correctly" you must know the tide level at the time you place it. I made references using the "DayZ Community Offline Mode" mod, changing the day of the year and seeing how the sea level rose (or fell) at a reference point that interested me. I tried now, but the sea level no longer changes. Is it a defect of the mod or are the tides no longer working? I read that they have been modified, but I did not understand how. Does anyone know anything about it? Thanks.

And think that you can't even transport anything, nor work or cook inside, since you can't put anything on the bottom of the boat. Too bad, it travels much better than vehicles, but with these characteristics it is almost useless. And I bet it's not a bug but they did it on purpose. ๐ -
Well, that the infected are able to hit you on the roof of a car, it seems fair and even little to me. I would like to see them be able to hit beyond the windows (instead of remaining still like smoked cod) and go back to killing the players. For the rest I do not argue.

I do NOT agree. I am (after DayZ much less) a Battlefield player, I have all the titles (except BFVietnam and BF2042) One of the best features of the "old" BF was the ability to wander around the map as a ghost. You don't know how many ghitchers I've screenshotted and reported with that system. Now... I understand (and I'm the first to say it) that given the particularity of the game it is not possible to implement this feature for all players, but at least the video of who killed you and "how" they killed you would help everyone enormously. And the names should not remain "hidden" (it almost seems done on purpose to "protect" those who cheat). I understand the particular "atmosphere" of the game, but the plague of cheats is much more serious than some "emotional" characteristics of the game: players should always be recognizable in all aspects of the game. And don't talk to me about "privacy", when nothing is done against streamers who use unaware players to make money! (this, for me, is another "plague" of all games... at the moment) And given the particularity of the game, it would be necessary for the company to keep a pool of people dedicated to personally verifying player reports, and also to personally follow (in "hidden flight": I had a modded server, I know how the tools for administrators work) the most reported players. I know that this, by itself, would not completely clean up the game, but it would already be a good start... a demonstration of good will by the company, and a bit of "psychological terrorism" on those who intend to use cheats... always feeling "potentially spied on" would be a good deterrent. And don't tell me that "it's not possible" to do it... technically you just need to "want it". But "maybe" this is exactly what is missing: the real will to seriously fight dishonest players. They "rest" on the rhetoric (partly, unfortunately, true) that "all games are full of cheats" ... they "delegate" the problem to a third-party company (whatever it is, whatever it does, the important thing is to be able to demonstrate that they "did something"), like many other companies ... and the rest (the plague of scams) is "a problem addressed" (and off the "check" in the list of things to do. For me this is NOT "doing everything possible". And don't talk to me about "costs". In a video game, a "serious battle against cheats" is a must ... more than new hats, new weapons and new maps ...even more so in one like DayZ where, as has rightly been pointed out, a kill has a much more "serious" impact than in many other "classic FPS", where your equipment acquired with progress is found at every rebirth: with DayZ you start from scratch every time. But I think we all know this well, at least those who follow this forum obviously.

As far as I know there is no active admin on the official servers. You can open a ticket explaining the problem on the B.I. feedback site, but if they haven't been able to do anything so far... I don't know... try. You can try with some community servers, but original Vanilla ones are rare and often poorly managed. Modded servers are many but, too often, mods are used only to distort the game even more. It all depends on what you're looking for, but I think that on the official servers there is nothing to do against scammers, as things stand now... ยฏ\_(^~^)_/ ยฏ
-
Try some modded servers. If they don't overdo the mods and bullshit, they are much better than the official servers. ยฏ\_(^~^)_/ ยฏ

Yeah... It would be nice if they modified that little stream to make it navigable with a dinghy... but I think it's useless on the official servers, you'd just be too easy a target. Already in Livonia, where the river is quite wide, with a dinghy you're a pretty easy target. Another almost useless novelty, since you can't transport anything (I think it's done on purpose, just for a change).

Why Some players can join this server and other can't
Riddick_2K replied to Symoji's topic in Troubleshooting
Sorry if I go OT: Have you set, in "serverDZ.cfg" "multithreadReplication=1" and in "dayzsetting.xml" the number of cores of your CPU? I imagine so... Question: How many cores does the DayZ server use? In any case only 1 or more than one? And if I may still: Do you see your server in the community server list? And if you search for it with Battlemetrics do you find it? If so: which ports have you opened exactly? I tried several that I found online, but I never managed to make it show "normally", only access via direct IP... ๐ Sorry again for these OT questions. ๐ I hope you find the solution to your problem... ๐ -
These changes ruined everything for me (xbox)
Riddick_2K replied to DayZNumberAlt's topic in General Discussion
So a map mainly oriented to PvP. Or rely on the modified community servers. If they had made it "neutral", with both possibilities, in my opinion... even if PvE players are in the minority... it would have been better. And I bet that the impossibility of bringing any object to the bottom of the dinghy was done on purpose... As soon as I have some time I will open a ticket on Feedback B.I. but I bet I will guess the answer, knowing them for a few years... ๐ -

Riddick_2K replied to DayZNumberAlt's topic in General Discussion
๐ Personal opinion more than legitimate... but I don't agree it, and I also consider it substantially wrong when a "single" (without any other modifications in the background) reduction of slots is defined as "realistic". It is not realistic to carry an SKS with a bayonet hidden in a backpack, but it is NOT realistic to reduce the space of the backpack for this... because then, the reduction, is also reflected on everything else. In a game where everything is consumed as if it were butter and the doll eats as if it had a tapeworm in its stomach (just to name some of the worst unrealistic absurdities). And in any case it is a video game, and the programmers "do not want" to make it "realistic" (I can cite where it was stated, if necessary). It will NEVER be realistic... let's hope that it becomes at least "playable" without adding or worsening the absurdities that are already too present. To simplify: If you tell me that you appreciate this change because it makes the game more difficult: I can understand it even if I don't agree with it. If you tell me that you appreciate this change because it makes the game more "realistic": I DON'T understand it and I don't agree it! ๐ง Anyway, have a nice day... ๐ ๐ -

Go further and ruin the game even more? Don't you think they've done enough so far (I don't want to make a long list of absurdities and unrealisticities of the game)... since so many approve in the name of "realism". Let's be a little objective, come on... ๐ -

I saw on the "iZurvive" map, that the springs are only in the "Tier 1 & 2" part of the map... and only in the main part. No "islands". Does it rain sometimes or just snow? Can you get rainwater with a barrel like the other maps? Maybe by collecting snow that falls from the sky before it settles on the ground? -
And anyway.... regardless... there's no need to be rude. ๐คจ

That is, do the experimental servers never close? Do they stay open with the latest experimental version until the next experimental version? And what does the B.I. keep those servers active for, since they are no longer needed? In all these years of DayZ and searching for the least populated servers with Battlemetrics, I had never found any (experimental servers) after the release of the stable version... this time, that I found some, I thought it was an anomaly, also considering the many problems with several servers that lasted for several days... And what is the point of continuing to play an imprecise and defective version when there is an "improved" one (even if it always has other defects, unfortunately... with DayZ it's a never-ending story)?!? Because you will always have only the latest experimental version tested, not the one you prefer, I guess... I mean, you can't choose to play the experimental version 1.07... or 0.70 (if one existed)... ๐
