There are certain little things like that, that can break immersion to enhance an even bigger feature. Plus if you go the buried loot route have to constantly find a shovel to have access to your loot. Whereas a code lock can be reusable.

The idea is to give bases function though. Yes that is an option but it would be nice to have an actual functioning base on a vanilla public server that is viable to use. Otherwise yes your option is the better more secure option. But its certainly a boring option. People who like base building in games want that immersion. And it would be nice to not have to join a rp community to get said immersion.

Im talking like fortifying already existing structures, where you place the gates in strategic locations so people cant hop over as well as no walls are needed as you already have preexisting walls. So if fortify one of the apartment buildings, i would put a gate at the bottom of the stairs. Then maybe i would put another layer of gates on the second floor. And do this until i have like 5 layers of gates before you could reach the top of the apartment where my main base would be located. That way the only way in the base is by dismantling the gates or breaking the locks. But all in all there needs to be a heavy cost to breaking a lock or gate.

So as you already know and mentioned in your recent blog, base raiding needs to be heavily rebalanced. It takes hours to build or even fortify 1 gate in a building. It takes a matter of 1-2 minutes to destroy a gate. Here is my proposal: 1. Make it to where it takes a minimum of 4 tools to destroy a gate. Ex: 4 crowbars, or 4 axes, or 2 crowbars and 2 axes, etc. 2. It should take about 10-20 minutes to destroy just 1 fence or gate. That way if you have like 4 or 5 layers of gates, it would take an entire hour to break in. So with the combined ideas here is what a base raid would look like: A player has 5 layers of gates before reaching their stash. Lets say it takes 12 min to destroy 1 gate. If we do the math, then it would take 1 hour to break into the stash room and they would have gone through 20 tools to break in. You add up the time it takes to acuire that amount of tools and the time it takes to actually destroy a base, you make base building worth it. And it makes raiding still possible, but it makes it to where the raider must make sure its worth the effort before doing it. This would also make it so base raids are team efforts and not just 1 random individual with 1 axe comes along and destroys the gate in a matter of 1 min.

Hello Everyone! I just want to say i got DayZ after Christmas of 2019 and am having a blast! Ive watched many youtube vids (shout out to Youtuber Frankie) in the early days of dayz when it was only a mod and always wanted it but never got it due to not having a good enough pc. Now that its on PS4 i am finally able to play it. Some key things i hope they focus on this year: Of course bug fixes More storage containers (gun racks, gun cases, etc) Rainwater Catching system using a tarp and a barrel Loads of New clothing such as a really cool hood that ive seen from mods on youtube. Shout out to youtuber Nezar. Ive seen this hood model from his playthrough. Looks super awesome! Some new weapons both melee and gun Bicycles (most common vehicle to find) Helicopters and boats. (Would make prison island a more viable base location) The ability to use tools to breakdown large items and place it into a small box for transport. (Saw this on Nezar's vids on the modded server) More base building options such as: Ladders Stairs (not watchtower stairs) Platforms (that are half the height of walls to attach stairs to to be able to peak over the wall) Pin codes (also seen on mods) The ability to plant fruit trees so you can have a steady food supply inside of base 2021: Console Mod support (if Bethesda can do it, i believe you guys can do it too!)
