    Types.xml for v1.19?

Oh, weird, Steam just updated it today. Not sure how I was accessing content with outdated files. Guess the server updated correctly, but my PC didn't update... but then how the heck did I join the server without the same game version? Usually I get booted from the server with a warning that the client has a different version when the server and client don't match. Oh, well, it's working now.

    Types.xml for v1.19?

Been a while since I did anything with this game, and I seem to have run into an issue. Probably a simple solution I just forgot how to do. Seems when I search (ctrl+F in Notepad++) the types.xml file for the new items (such as Offroad_02, IZH18Shotgun, Blowtorch, etc.), they are nowhere to be found. Am I looking in the wrong folder? The path I got the types.xml file from on my server is "mpmissions/dayzOffline.chernarusplus/db" What's weird is I know the items are available as I can spawn them in via VPP Admin Tools. Again, it's been a while, so forgive me for forgetting which folder has the file I need. Would appreciate the assist.

    Experimental Update 1.10 (Changelog)

Still no archery, but I'm pleased to see the devs finally focusing on survival aspects again. There are dozens of games where we can go run and gun, so it was frustrating seeing the devs just focusing on guns every update when what makes this game amazing is the hardcore survival. Reintroducing the ability to break legs again is huge! One of my earliest DayZ memories was being near the campground by Electro, then hit in the leg by a sniper, breaking my leg. I then amazingly located him and killed him. I then crawled with a broken leg all the way to the hospital, and found supplies to treat the leg as well as my friend to give me a blood transfusion. That's what DayZ is all about. Hardcore survival. I want to also add that the wool coat/jacket should have an exception regarding temperature when wet; wool retains its insulating properties even when drenched IRL, and one of my key woodland survival items I use when exploring the mountains IRL is a quality wool blanket, as well as wool socks and gloves for that very reason. Wool is much heavier than modern materials, but it's still a cornerstone material when braving the elements. Would be neat to see the wool coat/jacket behave this way in the game. Wool is also naturally fire retardant, though not sure how that would be of use in the game at this time. Very useful IRL, though.

... Really? This took priority over getting archery added back into the game? What the actual f***? It is nice to see the revolver back in, though. Never was a fan myself, but I know a lot of people have been asking for it back. Maybe next update I could finally get my bow and arrows back. A man can dream.

    Experimental Update 1.08

"Fixed: Furniture does not block bullets" Hey, just commenting from reality; common furniture like couches, tables, and chairs DON'T block bullets IRL. They slow them down, sure, but try to hide behind a couch, and even a .22LR can severely wound you. Step up to handgun and rifle calibers, and you will suffer extreme injury and even death. Taking cover behind a couch or flipped over table is pure Hollywood fantasy, unless you have some seriously crazy furniture built with thick steel plate. Same goes with taking cover behind drywall and even linoleum siding; rifle rounds - even 5.56x45mm ball will pass right through with enough mass and energy intact to severely injure and even kill you. Materials like brick, cinder block, concrete, and other Earthen materials used in building are far more effective at stopping rounds. Wooden fences and tin siding, on the other hand, not so much. Just seems odd that a hyper-realistic oriented hardcore game (and it is hyper realistic; blood type matters in transfusions, ffs) would "fix," aka "remove" the feature of bullet penetration through soft targets like furniture which very rarely can stop a bullet enough to avoid injury (have AR500 target steel or a quarter inch of steel sheet metal bolted under that wooden dining table, and okay, now you have a viable shield). Even then, spalling/fragmentation of ammo after impact is a real danger, and can even be lethal in some cases. It's not really a big deal to me or anything, but it is disheartening to see this step backwards in realism.

Set spawn points for base building

Building a bed would be a really great addition! I would suggest the recipe be 4 short sticks and rope to craft a bed placement kit. From there, you'd place 2 firewood to make the head and foot of the bed (placed about 2m apart, laying down, and parallel). Then 4 sharpened sticks for the bed posts (placed at the ends of the 2 pieces of firewood), requiring a hatchet or hammer to drive them in (think tiny fence posts or large tent stakes). Now place 3 large logs (running the length of the bed, parallel to each other, the ends resting on top of the 2 firewood and between the 4 bed posts). This would get you a basic bed with a 90 second respawn timer. The optional upgrade would be to attach 2 of any skinned hides or 60 cloth rags to create bedding, and it would reduce the respawn timer to 30 seconds. While making an improvised bed IRL can use better materials, obviously we have to consider the limitations of DayZ. The overall design I'm suggesting is based on a pretty standard bushcraft design (see image below): Another common design, yet more complicated (could be an upgrade option to further decrease respawn time to 15 seconds) would be this one:

    zombie animation for players

Definitely a cool idea! Just be sure to remove your backpack and head gear. XD
  8. Yeah, it's kinda annoying that we have to quit the server before respawning to customize our character. It'd make more sense if when we respawn it'd ask if we want to customize our appearance, or just randomly choose if you're in a hurry. Better yet, why not just have us respawn with the character preset we already named and picked clothing for previously in the main menu?

    Experimental Update 1.0.150104

I think the solution for the way in via server hopping is a pretty simple fix, far more simple than trying to create some sort of area detection with "closed" fences (that method would not cover areas closed off by existing environmental objects). Simply force server hops to spawn at the pre-existing spawn locations on the map. You'd still have all your gear, but you'd simply be relocated to an initial spawn point. Rejoining on the same server, even after hopping, will put you back where you originally signed off. Effectively, when joining a server, the server will check to see if you've already signed off on that server previously, and if yes, spawn you in at your last location on that server, and if no, you spawn at an initial spawn point. Ultimately your current location upon signing off is saved server side, and not shared with other servers. This method I think would be far easier to implement, far more fair, and help promote player loyalty to a server. Since the location of your character would be saved to the server, it wouldn't matter if you travel in another server to the base interior location and hop back, because the server won't have the other server's log off location data.

    Experimental Update 1.0.150053

I just keep waiting for archery to return to DayZ. The new recurve bow looks sick. Not sure why it isn't in as this image was uploaded by the devs about 2 years ago, along with these other ones: I have lots more of these pictures the devs uploaded to a page that seems to no longer be available (or I accidentally deleted the bookmark). All those were uploaded in 2016, and the ADA 4x4 at that time wasn't even fully modeled. I can't help wonder what the freaking hold up is. They claimed the crop duster would be released shortly after 1.0, too. Keep in mind all this stuff was announced BEFORE the release of 0.63. Also, when the heck are belts being added? I'm pretty sure several months ago BI said belts would be released with 1.0. I'm also confused as to why truck parts spawn in, but no trucks actually spawn. I've restored over 20 4x4 hatchbacks, but I've never seen any trucks spawn in, nor sedans. I just hope they add the crop duster before the nearly useless transit bus is back in. I will admit the devs have come a long way with DayZ, but I just don't get how it takes them so long to add in a new weapon or vehicle when modders can add all sorts of stuff in a short time frame. I am ignorant on the inner workings of DayZ, so I won't pretend to know all the issues or solutions. I do, however, question the current pacing. Granted they're a small studio, but it still seems like things should be moving faster.
