  1. I've heard talk that the double barreled shotgun isn't that good of a gun, so I usually pass it up whenever I see it. It was my first day on Lingor yesterday and I was desperate for a weapon since my 1911 was running low on ammo. I spotted the shotgun and decided to take it, as it was better than nothing. After picking up a ton of shells for it around town and discovering that it one shots every zombie I see, I then proceeded to head West and leave a trail of dead Z's behind me. The shotgun is a lot more helpful than I expected, and will probably use it in the future if it is the best option at the time. I haven't tried it in PvP yet, so I still have yet to learn if it is any good for defending myself from wild survivors.
  2. Before today, I used to be against the bandit play style. I would seek out other players and help them out whenever possible. I still do enjoy that very much; meeting people and working with them is very fun. But as I committed my first two murders today, I realized that I got a pretty good rush from it. My first was at the airport in Lingor. I witnessed a bandit chase down and kill a random survivior wielding only an axe. I killed the bandit, and as I turned around, I saw another survivor in the distance. He looked right at me, and turned to run behind a building. This one had a rifle, so I took aim, and shot him down before he could leave. Later I log back in and go into Calmar. I enter a large hotel and go onto the second floor. I can hear footsteps below me, and before I can raise my AK, a person in a ghillie suit and shotgun runs right past me and up onto the third floor. I compose myself after nearly having a heart attack, and lay on the floor. I listen to his footsteps, and aim towards the stairs as I hear him come down. He tried returning fire, but it didn't help as my AK was on full auto and I emptied about half the mag. My actions appealed to a sniper I guess, because he invited me back to the airport and equipped me with great gear. My time spent with him was slow though, as not many targets were seen, and I didn't have a clear shot for the ones I did see. The point is, this day was very exciting, despite the fact that I felt a little bad shooting the innocent. But I see players who either stick to being a hero or a bandit, and I can honestly say I find it much more fun doing both.
  3. It's a great thing I traded in my shotgun though. I won a four-way confrontation in Lingor using a FN FAL for the first time. :)

    Your Final Words Before Death

If the face on your character looked anything like your profile pic, and you said something like this to me, I would probably pee a little and immediately go the other way.
  5. Can't you still climb ladders with broken bones?

    "Dude, I'm friendly..."

I don't typically act as a bandit, but if I see someone prone and aiming their weapon at me, I would kill them without hesitation too. There was no way for you to know. If you had paused to check if he was friendly, you could have been the one killed.
  7. No other way. Ask for help, crawl to a hospital, or respawn. :P
  8. Oh, so it's only louder to other players, I got it. That's nice to know if I ever manage to get the drop on someone. ;)
  9. I've run through 3 towns with it so far, and have had to shoot it only a few times. The Enfield aggroes zombies way more than this to me. But maybe I was just lucky.

    Restart while driving

A server restarted for me while a bunch of soldier zombies were charging at me. It was like the ending to a suspenseful t.v. series.
  11. I would have grabbed those if they had been available. I was in a house surrounded by zombies, less than a mag left for my 1911, and a double barreled shotgun at my feet.
  12. This is great info as I remember seeing a bunch of those on the floor in buildings. Thanks. :)
  13. I only ever expected to confront a survivor with it while indoors, so point blank range is what will likely happen. :)

    Alt Tabbing Out= Death

I never play full screen with DayZ, so all I have to do is pause and click on another window.
  15. I've never had much luck fighting off zombies with a crowbar. I prefer the hatchet.

    Your Final Words Before Death

I heard someone chanting this on a server over and over yesterday after a helicopter had been shot down.

    Hey Rocket, how's it feel?

I'm buying the stand alone as soon as it's available, regardless of its current condition.

Trying to make friends on DayZ is difficult...!

I seriously had a tiny heart attack at 9:17 when I saw him standing in that doorway out there.
  19. Officially, when your humanity is low enough to get the scarf around your head. But anyone can be a murderer, so more specifically, I think it's when your main goal is to kill other players and take their gear. Or just for the fun of it.
  20. When I'm looting a town like a boss and a stranger in distress appears briefly, only to run off into the distance. I then turn around and see the massive horde of zombies coming straight towards me.

    Single Player DayZ

Single player DayZ? Does not compute.

    Your Final Words Before Death

"I wonder if that guy is friendly."
  23. It would have been even better if he never changed back, and the person used him to kill other players. Or he just sat in a tool belt all day, but that isn't as exciting.
  24. "Hey guys hold on, I'm just gonna go get this hatche---HOLY SHIT!"

    Loot in the DayZ Standalone

I like this idea. I think it would add to the suspense, if you're trying to quickly go through cabinets before someone else enters the same building. It would be more interesting than entering a room, scanning, and quickly deciding whether or not I even want anything that's in there. The containers would also help fill up those houses. Those empty houses make me sad.
