DayZ - What we hear a lot

"Damn, I forgot to reload my axe"

    Non-lethal weapons.

Tear gas would be cool. Then gas masks would need to be included too, but imagine clearing a building of survivors by tossing in some tear gas and taking them out as they're struggling with extremely blurred vision.

DayZ - What we hear a lot

*Someone hears a helicopter* *Everyone on side channel erupts* "omg can you pick me up?!?!?!"
  4. More importantly, will there be full bottles of Jack Daniel's?

    day z standalone vs armaII

I'll probably play the mod until my character experiences a most unfortunate death. After that, I'll probably just stick to the Arma campaigns and go to the standalone for my zombie fix.

Got killed by a falling chopper, FML

*Fades in* "Ah, what a beautiful day! <3" *Splat*

    Putting together a raid squad....

What exactly qualifies as "good knowledge of DAYZ"

Does sidechat ruin anyone elses game?

I like using side chat to see if any players are around me since a lot of them like to announce their every action to everyone on the server.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I think I had notifications like that while trying to enter rMod required servers without having it enabled. It may not be your case, but it is a suggestion.
  10. If they are unarmed, I will not kill them but watch them until they are too far away to be any real danger. If they are armed but don't see me, I immediately try to become hidden and watch them to see if they are to be determined a threat. If so, shoot. If not, let them pass. If they are armed and see me (more importantly, if their gun begins to point at me), I will shoot. All of this while fighting through cardiac arrest.

Is DayZ becoming a shoot'em up game?

What I found to be best is to have multiple servers dedicated to different playstyles. I go on lower pop servers (typically ones which never have more than 20 players) when I want to loot places and prance through open meadows in peace. I go on higher pop servers where everyone KOS's and just act like a jerk while being a bandit. Then I go on servers where I found some pretty cool players and I either team up with them or sprint through Cherno/Electro while tossing flares or chemlights in every possible direction. :)

Killing people for no reason is funny

I don't think this is entirely true. I once shot a child with a rocket launcher in Fallout 3, but I would never do such a thing in real life.
  13. The first time I watched Inception, I actually started watching it from a little bit into the last half of the film. It instantly became the worst mind-fuck ever.

Killing people for no reason is funny

I don't think it's funny unless the player died in a comical way. Otherwise, it's just business as usual.

Have you ever been held up?

I've never been held up or held anyone else up. However, there was a time when I was engaged in some tense negotiations with an armed survivor and his friend who were pinned in a supermarket. We were covering the exits while I talked to them and tried having them get down in another part of the store while we gathered the things we needed and left.
  16. Have a dog companion, and probably care for its life more than my own.

    Dayz: Your Code of Conduct

    1. Make a quick run through the nearest town for basics before heading north. 2. Kill if necessary, otherwise remain unseen. 3. Arrive, take what I need and leave as fast as possible.

Best Place To Build a Stash?|

I go out in the middle of nowhere to scout for places to stash things. Preferably around large hills and heavily wooded areas that seem to be a real pain to get to and hide a tent there. Usually just one. Also keep note of the grid reference when you find a spot.
  19. I wonder if smearing it on yourself will make zombies ignore you. EDIT: And people in general.
  20. I plan on getting a new headset soon. The problem currently is that I can't use a mic and hear in game noises at the same time as my speakers are out of commission (a DJ thought it would be a good idea to get the power cord for the speakers mixed with his crap and leave with it). So I need to either get the speakers working or get a mic that doubles as headphones.
  21. Sometimes I try to type so quickly that I butcher my messages with spelling mistakes, and while trying to go through and fix the mistakes, the other survivors think my hesitation to respond to their "friendly?" message means that I plan on killing them. This results in my death as I'm frantically trying to close the chat box so that I can move around again and evade their shots. :(

    NYC?

NYC map + dogs = totally doing some I Am Legend role-playing. Yelling at mannequins and shit.
  23. If Steam ever dies, but what if my internet dies? Of course I wouldn't be able to play strictly multiplayer games like DayZ anyway, but what about other Steam based games?

    Share your noob stories

When I first started playing this a while back, I was an Enfield wielding side chat using Cherno-warrior. Oh god...
  25. I wish I could give so many more beans for the topic title.
