"The ocean's dying. Plankton's dying. It's people. Soylent Green is made out of people. They're making our food out of people. Next thing, they'll be breeding us like cattle for food. You've gotta tell them. You've gotta tell them! You tell everybody. Listen to me Hatcher! You've gotta tell 'em! SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE! We gotta stop them! Somehow!" -
I can definitely agree it shouldn't take a second item to dislodge a jammed round. IRL Anyone familiar with their weapon would be able to clear the jam quickly. The images of the jammed weapons indicates either "stovepiping" or a double feed malfunction. I'm no weapons expert but here's a few things i found. I've also found some articles that say IRL this is caused by poor ammo, dirty guns, bad mags or a bad recoil spring. It seems in .60 you had to remove the mag to clear the double feed. He even says there is usually a stray bullet left behind but he couldn't find it. In .63 it seems there's an animation tied to clearing a jammed weapon. I honestly don't know where i got the idea of the weapon cleaning kit. but i remember there was a couple threads about it when they first introduced it, so i probably took that as fact. Unless you can fix it by removing the mag and racking the slide, i doubt implemented yet. But hopefully these videos will give you an idea of where the concept is going. As whatever they plan to do with the jamming mechanics in the future, I'm sure it'll be realistic.
-
I trust your judgement. Excuse me if i frigg'd up, I am but a mortal man. I could have sworn I dislodged a jam prior to the last update. But since I only use "worn" or "pristine" weapons and ammo, I don't get very many jams. (literally like 3 or 4 just because I was using weapons with bad condition) Either way you should always keep your guns clean or else you risk breaking it either momentarily or permanently. I'm still not sure whats being asked but looking at the GER in their name, I'm assuming they're German. I'd say we need a translator, as I doubt google translate understands Dayz banter or troubleshooting.
-
I believe he's asking about reloading a weapon. I have no clue what your first language is but maybe you can translate. If the gun is jammed/blocked. There is a bullet/round/ammo that is stuck in the barrel/chamber of the gun/weapon. It can be fix/repair with a "Weapon Cleaning Kit" You cant fix/repair if the condition is "Worn" or "Pristine". I hope this helps.

That stuff they made Soylent Green outta. -
Howdy neighbors! I have a tent around Myshkino too! XD I'd look on top of the western hills or anywhere else that seems relatively flat. I haven't found anyone's base yet so I assume their mostly on the far edges of the map. Close to military and industrial zones or anywhere you can find a tent, barrel, etc. Aside from a map and compass. I'd also recommend carrying a pair of binoculars. It extends your sight by a couple kilometers and the magnification is far superior to that of any rifle scope. The map i use shows elevation of the hills so its a good way to find flat ground, overlooks and snipers. Next time your setting up a base, find a landmark or a series of landmarks that you can remember. A road, a tree stand, a hill, a bridge, a river, even a small opening in the middle of a forest. Just some spot you can recognize when you end up there again. Now you just have to remember where around that landmark you placed your base. the further away the better. And if you can, don't put it straight off a landmark. take a couple turns before you set up camp. I've placed tents next to houses, on dead end roads, 20 minutes from the coast, they've despawned but have never been found. Just hide it well and remember where you left it. Good luck. Chernarus is a big place.

IMPORTANT Question from a new player
PEACE_543 replied to Mills1227's topic in New Player Discussion
As for right now there is no fixed perspective and that goes for all servers. I know the PC version had "Hardcore" servers, where the perspective is first person only. I'm not sure if they'll add hardcore servers for xbox or not. As for the player base. They're not very nice. At least not yet. -
Well, went back to my base. Unless someone unloaded my tent and walked off with my sea chest, then they both despawned. (It was just there yesterday) But it's no matter. I brought another one. Started farming, now i have a car tent with about 200 pounds of meat and vegetables. It's down near Tulga. the idea is that a few lucky bambi's will run across it on their way inland. Not much reason for bandits to run through there. I'll announce the location and server once I've built it up. If it doesn't despawn that is. I'm hoping for some people to set up camp there too. Although automatic and semi auto weapons will be prohibited.
-
Yep i'm pretty sure this is the case as well. I found a tent and a bear trap the other day. the bear trap disappeared over night and i also found that the opening to my tent was rolled up but nothing was taken. So i'm pretty sure this happens when the server restarts. Kinda sucks not being able to booby-trap your own base. I also brought a sea chest i don't know how long they stay for. i'm currently running back to see if anything's despawned yet XD

I can agree with killing the guy. With that much firepower i doubt he was up to much good. I do think you missed a huge opportunity to mess with him. I mean if he was just sitting there you could have easily subdued him by pointing your weapon at him. telling him to drop his weapon or something. (If you don't have restraints) If he moves unannounced, pull the trigger. If he was showing someone what he was up to. Imagine the look on their faces when they come back to you with a gun pressed to his head. You might've been able to question him and get some good intel. You could of robbed him of his weapons and left him defenseless. At the very least you'd get some kind of reaction from him. Instead he has to scratch his head at a red screen and wonder what happened. (Not going afk in a military tent should be common sense but some people do silly things) Out of all the possibilities you had, you chose to kill him while he's afk. The guy very well could have been friendly and trying to arm others. Maybe you could have teamed up and had a lot of fun. But instead the story ended with you putting a bullet in his brain. All you and him really gathered from the situation is that he HAD loot. Now he's a salty fresh spawn and your feeling remorse while looting his body (Also half of his items are destroyed) I have nothing against you personally. I'd be lying if i said i haven't though about how easily i could spray down my companions after picking up a gun. The point i'm trying to get at is that: the game is only as fun as you make it. He ran around, got all that gear, server hopped 50 times XD. And he gets rewarded with a red screen. Nothing else. Now he has to go through another 50 servers to get back to killing freshies or whatever he was doing. It's. Boring. Interaction. Good or bad. Makes this game what it is. Don't get me wrong I used to love running down a road, checking every treeline and tall building for snipers. But on xbox KOS just seems so much more common. I meet more people who try to kill me than anything else. People just seem to run up and down the coast with a death wish and an M4 in their hands. Everyone has their own way of doing things. People like to be someone different when they play. I get it. But bandits and KOS'ers just make more bandits and KOS'ers. pretty soon everyone gets a kill or be killed mentality and the game basically turns into PUBG. (On a side note maybe that's why there's so many KOS'sers. They all play PUBG, Fortnite, etc.) You get get shot on sight so many times that you yourself become the KOS'er. Maybe the community will mellow out once all the battle royale noobs get sick of killing eachother people will go back to playing nicely. Where we know the person shooting at us is a bandit and not just someone scared of dying again. This is why I give people a chance whether they're armed or not. you really never know whats what until you find out for yourself. And uh yeah, I type a lot. Stay Friendly!

Call me crazy but my home server has always been: US 4425 It's got the advantage of being one of the most populated servers. But then it has the disadvantage of being one of the most populated servers. There's gunna someone friendly but there's also alot more bandits (I think they get geared up and come to the high pop servers looking for prey) Either way until there's a server with 30+ friendlies 4425 is where i'll remain.

First of all. i'm a solo player. I don't usually use a mic. I'm usually out hunting animals. i stay away from people but I try to help them when I can. I'm currently setting up a bambi safehaven. And I pretty much view having a second weapon as useless. only carrying rifles or pistols with a max of 2 magazines . Say i spawn in the north, and my destination is Elektro. If i get to Kami and there's a gunfight going on i'm most likely going to hop to get around the fight. i could sneak around, find them and kill them. But why would I? I have no quarrel with these people. I just wanna get were i'm going in the least amount of time, and the least amount of bloodshed. On the topic of shooting people. I reserve drawing my weapon for after I've been pursued. If you point your weapon at me, fire at me or even if you seem unfriendly I'll break from your sight, run to a safe distance and decide what to do from there. If your still approaching me with a weapon in hand and a clear intent to kill me, this is when my gun comes out. I'm now already in cover, my stalker presumes i have no ammo and they are most likely out in the open and running towards me. They might even be fighting a horde of zombies at this point. I pop up and blow the poor guys lack of brains right out of his head. Bandits that are used to killing bambi's are terrible at using cover, probably because there's not much cover on the coast. That and there's usually no one shooting back at them. But some of them are also pretty good marksmen because of all the practice they get, so you cant always run from them. If i get shot and it hinders my movement i'll either move to the nearest cover or if there's no cover, i'll stay low to the ground and try to return fire. And if i'm running with other people (usually just someone who didn't attack me on sight) I will throw most of these tactics out the window and do almost anything I can to protect them. Most people don't use the same tactics as me so we usually end up getting in really close gunfights and trying to advance on our perceived enemy, as opposed to falling back to a safer vantage point. I've been sitting in the middle of the woods sorting through a barrel and I've had people run right past me. Literally meters away from me. They've never seen me and although I've drawn my weapon in panic, I've never fired upon them. If i were to engage they could have killed me and they would have looted my barrel and went on their merry way. even if I killed them there's a chance they'll come back to the area in search of me or my loot. The general reason people shoot on sight is because they're scared. most people think you have to kill or be killed, and sometimes you do. But not all the time. Most times its better to just silently watch and listen then to start firing your gun off all willynilly and letting your enemies know where you are. So before you pull the trigger just remember: your giving away your position, your telling everyone else what your playing with, And when people hear gunshots they usually take it upon themselves to presume you're not friendly.

Yesterday I was traveling with a man who seemed to be laughing uncontrollably. Wearing a blue armband, armed to the teeth and not killing me on sight i thought he was a friendly. Every couple minutes he would let out a burst of laughter. At first i thought i missed a pretty cool emote. I followed him and his acquaintance north up the coast. Only until i seen him kill and skin a fresh spawn it dawned on me. This man isn't an overly happy savior, but really a deranged cannibal driven mad by the flesh of his victims. He prompted me to eat his prey. If I didn't eat that bambi I would have been chopped up right next to him. Stomach upset but my sanity still in tact, we proceed to Solnichnly. (Laughing all the way) After passing by the military bunkhouse and stopping in a nearby warehouse we were engaged by a group of 4-5 other armed militants. Me, armed with only a makeshift spear, crouched behind the north door and waited for my inevitable death. The cannibals broke out of the warehouse and started firing. And I blindly followed. *Autism Ensues* Needless to say Mr. Chuckles was too far gone to be of any use in combat. After running back into the warehouse he was the first to die. Meanwhile outside the warehouse. I'm undetected. No shirt and melee weapon, they must not have seen me as that much of a threat. I run back into the warehouse. Gunshots going off everywhere. This is when I find the body of our blue banded, hunger driven, friend? I laughed to my self and thought, at least he died happy. A gunfight still going on outside. In an attempt to save my own skin, grabbed the USG off his lifeless back and waited for the north doors to open. And my god did those men got a surprise when they did. They must have put burst fire on these things because when that door opened, the two guys behind it went down like dominoes. Not 10 seconds later another one of them came through the south doors and his fate was no different. The gunshots dissipated but i continued to scan around for anymore threats. Unsure who i killed, what their intentions were or if they were friendly. The other person i was traveling with came back into the warehouse and surprisingly. didn't kill me. (The cannibalism hadn't corroded his mind to the point he couldn't recognize me) I clap to applaud him on our survival, when i realize i'm bleeding. While scrambling for cover and searching for something to patch myself up with, I ended up bleeding out. As far as i know my acquaintance was the only one who made it out of there alive. So, watch out for the mentally unstable on your travels. They don't really find your jokes funny. Also. Nobody wins in a gunfight. And next time you think about killing people remember that even a noob with a spear. (In the right place at the right time) Can send you back to the coast with nothing but a rag and a flare to your name.

You gotta be sneaky now. Unless you crouch zombies can see you from hundreds of feet away. And they're never happy to see you. Get a spear, it usually kills a zombie in 2-3 hits. Makes taking on 2+ zombies a piece of cake.

Didn't know duping was a thing. That explains why everyone on the coast is so heavily armed lately. But as long as there's rare loot people will do anything to get it. Even if it means working through their laggy inventory for hours on end. I might have to check out the northwest edge of the map now...

I'm unable to connect to any servers. I get booted back to the title screen every time. I really hope this isn't happening to everyone again. Sadly i cant tell because the population count on the server list is broken. So, will i have to reinstall or is this happening to everyone? -

I did just log out of a server before it happened. But i had been playing on the server for a couple hours and i logged because i couldn't open doors, draw my weapon or open my inventory. not too sure why though I've also logged back into US 4425 since this so the best advice i can give is to unplug your console for a couple minutes or just wait until you can get back into a server. -

Oh. For the love of. Friday's break the game :/ -
XD If only there were more risk takers like you... People still don't know how to toggle a thumbs up to a thumbs down. I guess i cant really expect them to figure out rock paper scissors all at once.

XD I keep trying to play RPS with people. They usually end up attacking me before i can draw. I also find there's still a lag issue in bigger cities and the static effect when night falls is practically seizure inducing. Turning my brightness down does not help. It's just bright white static on my screen and it no longer feels like night time.

I've spent the past 2 days repairing a car. I then proceeded to start driving it. The thing careens off to the left, starts bugging out, throws me about 100 feet in the air and into the ocean. This didn't break the car. "When i grow up i want to be one of the harvesters of the sea. I think before my days are done, I want to be a fisherman." After driving around the bottom of the ocean in complete darkness for about 20 minutes I bailed out of my submarine. It took about 5 minutes before i surfaced. with desperation i swam to the nearest island. Now i sit alone in a lighthouse. The loss of my vessel has left me without hope. The supplies i drug ashore are running out. Miles from land with no hope of rescue, my mosin will be the only way out. The sea is a cruel mistress.
