    Stone Fireplace

I just don't want to end up with the title of "Bean King" It adds digits to your reputation score? I thought beans counted as neutral (+0)? Nope you're right (I beaned ya) I personally use it to call out misleading or obnoxious posts. It's just that when you help someone you expect positive feedback. Not beans thrown in your face. Maybe its just me but it kinda takes the fun outta posting anything on here. I mean. Do you want to help someone who doesn't appreciate it? At first maybe, but it starts to seem pretty pointless.

    Stone Fireplace

Just tried this last night. You can mine large rocks from pretty much any boulder/rock on the ground. (with a pickaxe of course) I'n order to make a Stone circle/ Stone oven You have to craft a fireplace and equip/move the rocks to it. Its apparently 4 rocks for a circle and 8 rocks for a stove https://dayz.gamepedia.com/Fireplace After you have a fireplace with a stone circle and 8 stones you can hold RT to craft the oven. You can equip a cooking pot to the stone oven You can use a cooking tripod with stone circle Now with that being said I couldn't get either the circle or the oven to light. When I tried building it on a lit fire it wouldn't build. I don't know how I messed it up but when my fire burnt out the ashes were still making the "Fire place noise" . In my opinion, the best way to cook is to carry a gas stove. It only weighs 12 pounds with all three components and you can store 12 pounds of items in it. EDIT: After trying again, I was able to light the stone oven with a matchbook. The hand drill kit didn't work for me. __________________________________________________________ Re-Edit: Thanks for telling people this is "beans" when i'm just trying to help people. @Man Parts 241 I answered your question did I not? Would you mind explaining why this constitutes "beans"? Note to self: I'm just about done with these shitty people on this forum. It's not enough that they've ruined the game. they have to come on here and ruin the forum too. I come here to read stories, give and get help with the game. I don't come here to have my every word scrutinized. If you don't like something I said in the past that should be the end of it. Grow up and get over it. Don't downvote helpful post's because you don't like the person who posted it. If i post something hateful or irrelevant give me hell for it, Ban me! (This is within the realm of relevancy, IMO) But when I'm trying to help today. Don't bring up yesterdays problems. No offence directed at you personally. This has been happening a lot lately. I just don't understand your judgement and it makes me jump to the conclusion that your hating on my posts for no reason. It's cliche but: "Stop the drama. Make the forum great again!"

    Update

No, sadly they did not. The article you posted is talking about the new experimental patch for PC version: These are the patchnotes for the latest Xbox update: It's better to come straight to the source. I wouldn't listen to "newsweek" media You can always find the newest Xbox patchnotes in the "Xbox" section of the forums: https://forums.dayz.com/forum/149-xbox/ @pilgrim* @Nayte (wouldn't format) Don't know why this is "beans". You don't have to agree with everything I say, but don't follow me around the forums and downvote every post I make. Thanks. EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that "Beans" is actually used to agree with posts. Not a downvote as I had previously thought.

    Rare item challenge

Well Goddamn. I'm eating good tonight. I guess I owe you an apology. (Should've done my homework too: https://dayz.gamepedia.com/File:MilitaryBootsRedpunk.png) (Should have called them "Red Punk assault boots". Not "the Anarchy Assault Doc Martin SE in Cardi B red") Can you really blame me though? Remember when cars were first added and no one could find them? People find this stuff hard to believe. Especially if there's no HUD on screen. When you start off like this I don't know what the hell your're saying. (I do not understand these references) All I know is there's a cropped picture of a fancy pair of boots. It doesn't prove anything. Of course someone's going to call you out on it. You also said you found it "in the back of a van". I don't know if this was supposed to be a joke but it doesn't make you sound like you know what your doing. The question that comes to my mind is where does it fit in on the loot table? Where does it spawn? How many on a server? Whats the spawn chance? I don't understand why this particular variation of boot is the rarest thing in Dayz. Does anyone have any history on these things? I feel like they'd be craftable with spray paint but then why have them spawn pre-made? Why have them spawn at all? In the end it would seem your the luckiest man in south Zagoria. But sooner or later you'll lose those boots. It'll despawn or the servers will get wiped. That's the Dayz way. (Until then i'll be keeping my eye out for anyone sporting these red booties. With all the duplication exploits they might turn into a regular sight.)

    Rare item challenge

It's great that your enjoying the game or playing regularly. but let me state again. "There is barely any information" on the net about rare items, Nor is it clear on what version of Dayz they're found in. You said YOU"RE doing things, YOU'RE seeing things. That's not me. that's not anyone else. that's YOU. I'm pulling information from public sources. And I assure you it's not a topic that comes up very often. therefore its not something the average player generally knows about. The picture you posted shows a pair of boots containing a combat knife. I believe those are called "assault boots". The only difference between a regular pair of boots and your pair is the color/design. (Texture) Ex. Assault boots are different from working boots as they have different models (Shape). So in short, you started talking about textures. If you want to be taken seriously. you should probably do whatever you can to prove your claim. At this point you have little credibility and in my opinion you're losing it fast. Instead of taking a new picture you go on the offence, talk a bunch of mumbo-jumbo and try to dismiss me. instead of trying to prove your claim your trying to shut me up. And it really makes me think you have no proof and your just trying to waste peoples time. You found a pair of assault boots in the back of a van? (Military loot doesn't spawn in civilian vehicles!) How often does that happen, Nancy? Lastly i don't understand your banter. I find your response crude and demeaning and I really don't know how you expect people to take you serious BRUH. Especially when you conduct yourself like this. Please, link me to it. I'm patiently waiting. I intended to eat my words and you've starved me. (Don't just take it from me but) I've concluded this is a poor hoax.

    Rare item challenge

I don't think anyone really knows what your on about. There's barely any information on the topic of rare items. I've heard talk of colored/ engraved pistols and other rare textures but I've seen no proof of it in the vanilla (Xbox) version of the game. I have seen people wearing "Tactical vests". (They have to come from somewhere) But I've never found them while looting. So rare items are definitely out there. Plate carrier attachments, Tac vests, Knight helms, etc. But I'm not thoroughly convinced rare textures exist. This could very easily be a mod, and with no HUD on screen who's to say its not? Your claim/picture would hold a lot more weight if it had Xbox overlay or button prompts. In game HUD would at least prove this is a recent version of Dayz. I don't know who'd want to waste time looking for these "rare textures". (If they exist) You should know by now that when you find something fancy in Dayz, people instantly try to steal it from you. I will admit they look pretty cool, but for now I'm calling this a hoax. Though I'll happily eat my words if anyone can prove these rarities actually exist on the Xbox version.
  7. I saw another thread that provoked me to write this post, i kinda went overboard with it so I started a new topic. There is constant gunfire, landmines and dead bambi's around Factory Solnichniy. They climb the roof ladder on the 3 story building. Directly north of the train station, lock the door to the roof, and shoot anyone they see through the hole in the floor. After hanging around this building for the past 2 days I've seen too many exploits. people kept showing up with duped ghillie suits, ghosting into rooms with and without placing landmines. roof campers combat logging when they have to fight someone with a gun. It's sickening to me how this many people cheat the game. And 90% of them have no shame in it. You'll tell them its unfair/exploitative and they'll call you a faggot, shoot you in the face and proceed to stroke their ego's over how much loot they have/ how good they are at killing unarmed people. In one day I met some 4 or 5 people who admitted to duping. they were all locked in buildings. These two ghillies with wrapped svd's and M4's hanging around the coast claimed to be legit. Cause? You know? "reasons". Yesterday I occupied the ladder room, chilling out with some other freshies armed with nothing but spears. Well it turns out some other guys wanted the spot for themselves because two ghillies came in and started shooting at us from below the ladder. We talked to the invaders and because we only had spears we told them to leave. (if you climb the ladder we'll impale ya) Long story short they kept shooting through the hole and it took about an hour before they finally took the room. (It took the two fully geared ghillies an hour to kill a bambi with a spear) I run back a few times. "Hey guy's! Guess who's back". Get killed every time. Finally, I run back and hide within proximity of these degenerates and proceed to have a conversation with them while a group of friendlies start to surround the building. I start telling them the error of their ways. Like how they wasted all of their ammo on bambis and now have nothing to fight with. I think I did my part in distracting them because they started getting very dismissive of me. They started going quiet, but armed only with words as my weapon, I kept talking. They'd abruptly break the silence to call me a plethora of names when I agitated them enough, but despite the gunshots it was getting quieter and quieter by the second. By this point they've been held down for about an hour. I've heard guns going off almost constantly on all sides of this building, especially the inside. After about 10 minutes of silence from up top the roof and no shots fired. I came to the conclusion that they must have logged out. After about 20 minutes and having someone go in and check it out. The room is empty. "No sign of ghillies left in that building". The friendlies took the tower and that was the end of it. I did see someone wearing the same "get up" as the ghillies, might've been one of them. Either way he died trying to get up the ladder. This just left me pretty peeved because I know they're now on a different server doing the same thing to different people. Kill bambi's, Trash talk, Hide from people with guns, Switch servers. Rinse and repeat. This is a prime example of the community ruining it's own game. I really thought the days of COD shit talking were over. but I still come across 10 year old kids in this game who follow me around and talk trash/annoy the hell out of me. (they grow up so fast) Don't get me wrong, I've met quite a few friendlies and people seem to be getting friendlier. had a lot of laughs and "kodak moments" But the bad eggs really like to make their mark. There is a big divide in the community between who wants what. whoever has the loudest/most reasonable ideas will end up shaping the game. I personally don't want everyone to have a gun. As it stands I can play for 5 minutes and with a little luck I can have a shotgun and ammo for it. (Is Chernarus located in Texas? I know there was militia's before the outbreak but come on.) It's pretty apparent that anyone asking for more guns or weapon spawns have only one play style in mind: loot, kill, die, loot, kill, die. In my opinion Dayz should be more about the looting and dying. Dying from the elements, animals, disease, THE ZOMBIES. But no, the most common threat you'll run into is invisible 10 year old kids on the coast wielding SVDS and telling you they screwed your mother last night. (yes invisibility is still an issue) I'm mainly trying to say that the game is too easy. (duping or not) it already has and will continue to attract the fortnite/pubg crowd and though that's good for BI it could change the game even more than it already has. (Why do we spawn with food and a knife? because casual players whined they were starving too fast.) Now everyone has a knife and is either stabbing each other or committing suicide to get certain spawns. (p.s. this is very immersion-breaking and it's kind of the reason for the state of the coast atm) Catering to the casual gamer should be in no way an option here. DayZ should not a game you play casually. Without the grind of finding your stuff and the fear of losing it, Wheres the challenge? Wheres the fun? Do people just buy games for the instant gratification nowadays? Run into something too challenging then just buy something to pass it? Or in this case, exploit the game to win? If the game continues on its current path (disabled rain and night time, spawn with weapons and food, no broken limbs, zombies are barely a threat.) There will be no fun in playing solo and the only real challenge you'll have to face is toxic people. I just don't understand how taking things away (difficulty included) makes the game better. Might as well remove 90% of the map so its just the coast, remove the zombies, give people guns from spawn, remove bleeding, remove hunger/thirst, implement micro transactions, "50 ghillie suits for $6.99" And make the game into a free roam call of duty where you just have to run to the warzone. (sadly. people would probably buy it and they'd like it) People seem to want immediate gratification instead of solving the challenge or even playing the game. They want all the gold with none of the work. When you show them the glitter and tell them its gold they'll buy it all day long. And if they truly believe it's gold, they'll even buy micro transactions to beat the game. Pour money into it to save time. Now the player unlocks everything and feels that sense of accomplishment for a while. but they soon get bored and go seeking their next "high". This is a shady but profitable business move and its been implemented in games like call of duty but with more of a "drip feeding" approach. Give a little, release the next game, give a little more. When you make the game too easy anyone can play it. But they'll get bored much quicker. when you starve to death a couple times looking for a town or spend a week building a fort, etc. When you finally complete your given task you will feel a great sense of accomplishment. Challenge and reward keeps people playing your game. When they put it down they'll have fond memories and will hopefully want to play it again. (that's why I'm here) Take a look at how many people still play Classic COD (It's not many because they're all mostly the same game, revamped over and over.) My inner monologue usually consists of "oh i need a spear", *kills chicken* "where's my knife", "this takes a long time", "Shut up bush", "where does the rope come from?", "this is massive, people are going to think i'm hostile", "oh well I can just respawn and make a new one". This can be said about a lot of craftable/modular items. My point is that I would value the spear more if it was harder to craft. (but seriously where does the rope come from? Plant fiber?) Sorry if i'm giving undue feedback or I sound hateful, i'm just a little angry after seeing these exploits being done in such massive proportion. I'm angry because I love this game. the concept, the realism. And It kind of hurts to see it in its current state, and have to wonder what the future will bring. (I get fed up and quit from time to time but I keep coming back because I have hope for this game) Long story short: Cheating is bad for everyone. There's always going to be some bad eggs in the community and for boredom sake please don't make the game any easier than it already is!

    Time to Kill

I personally, can confirm that two shots to the chest from a AKM will kill an unarmored target at 300 meters. There is however a number of factors that govern bullet damage Caliber (size) The larger the caliber, the bigger the wound. The size of your projectile should be appropriate for your target. Small caliber for unarmored targets, Large caliber for a good chance against anything stronger than a press vest. The ammo types ranging from smallest to largest are: 9x9mm, .380 Auto, .45 ACP, 12 gauge buckshot, 12 gauge slug, 7.62/39mm, 5.56mm, 7.62/54mm, Distance Bullets lose their velocity at long ranges. Smaller calibers more than others. Taking much longer to hit the target, increasing bullet drop and reducing it's power when it hits. Bullet penetration Shooting through objects. Body armor, walls, doors tree's, etc. will greatly reduce your bullets velocity and can change the direction your bullet is traveling. (Shooting a Plate Carrier with a pistol is like throwing a grape at it.) Hit placement Aim for the kill. A headshot is always the most effective and will instantly kill with a large caliber bullet. The second best option is left side, chest, spine and heart. A shot to the lung or stomach will wound and may quickly kill your target. Though a shot to the arms or legs (until crippling limbs is implemented) Doesn't do much but draw blood and hinder moment ___________________________________________________________________________ If I had to speculate I'd say 2-5 rounds of pistol ammo aimed at the chest would kill an unarmored target at point plank (25m) 2-3 rounds of AR ammo aimed at the chest could kill a lightly armored target from up to 400m. If not further. Now 7.62/54mm. 1-2 shots can kill an armored target from a very long distance (1km) given the bullet penetrates the chest or you manage to hit 2 times. ____________________________________________________________________________ This is a lot to think about when you're about to pull the trigger. Its usually better not to shoot at all. But If you must, ALWAYS Double check your range/fire mode and always fire multiple shots to compensate for hit detection/bad placement.
  9. Haha, yeah, I know its set in the world of Arma. The DayZ map isn't Chernarus in it's entirety. It's actually the province (Oblast) of South Zagoria. I was just trying to make a bit of a joke. I don't understand why civilians have semi auto pistols and Mosin Nagants in their houses? why do they have so many weapons?! (i'm from Canada where gun laws are strict and very few people own them. Some players are from the UK where guns are practically non existent. lol) Well. The Red Cross kinda answered my question. This report talks heavily on the availability of weapons in wartime and the effect it has on the numbers of civilian casualties: https://www.icrc.org/en/doc/assets/files/other/icrc_002_0734_arms_availability.pdf "A major impetus driving arms sales to developing States has been the rapidly shrinking military budgets of northern industrialized countries. The lack of coherent policies for conversion of military production capacities to serve the civilian economy has meant that military industries with high production capabilities generated by the Cold War are competing intensively to develop new markets, particularly in the developing world." "Even the former Czechoslovakia, which made a political decision in the early 1990s to cease arms exports, subsequently chose to re-enter the business for economic and other reasons. In addition, large quantities of surplus weapons have been transferred from the northern hemisphere to developing countries in the form of direct aid, subsidized sales or intra-alliance transfers. Ironically, these surplus arms are the by-product not only of reduced military budgets and forces in the industrialized countries but also of successful arms control agreements that have required members of NATO and the former Warsaw Pact to eliminate hundreds of thousands of weapons from their inventories." "This flow of surplus arms is not likely to end soon – unless preventive action is taken without delay. In the coming five to ten years a new wave of surplus weapons and ammunition into developing countries can be expected to result from the need for funds in some States of the former Soviet Union and the modernization of arsenals in countries slated to join NATO or those aspiring to do so." With Chernarus being a highly industrial state they would have had plenty of means of forging their own weapons. And they most likely would have had stockpiles from the Cold War. not to mention the other factions (And presumably arms traders) were pumping equipment and guns into the country. Given that Chernarus has been in a state of disarray and its occupation is contested by 4 different militant groups there's a good chance many civilians wanted to get their hands on something that goes boom. They could've been obtained legally or illegally. And with this mass amount of guns, they would have been relatively cheap either way. A quote from the same atricle: "Because these weapons are mass manufactured for military, police and civilian use, there is an abundance of suppliers around the world. In addition, the existence of many tens of millions of such weapons, often recycled from conflict to conflict, has in many countries caused prices to drop well below the cost of manufacture. For example, a 1996 report indicated that in Mozambique and Angola an assault rifle could be purchased for less than $15 or for a bag of maize. In Uganda the price was reported to be the same as that of a chicken." So following that logic and with the state Chernarus was in, there are theoretically a realistic number of guns in civilian areas. Now the only issue is that it's not a wider array of them. If people were stealing, buying, selling and making weapons there would have been at least a few people that could get their hands on assault rifles and other military gear. As for the "militias" I was thinking of the National Party. (NAPA) Mainly because they were armed with more rudimentary equipment: https://dayz.gamepedia.com/National_Party "The National Party primarily consists of Chernarussian civilians who wear a combination of homemade camouflage with stolen military clothing. They often use masks to hide their faces to keep their underground network, they also use civilian vehicles mounted with military weapons and even use stolen armored vehicles from other factions." Maybe there isn't too many guns. Maybe there's just too many people using them wrong. But the next time I pick up a Mosin, I'll have to wonder where it came from and how far it's traveled to get where it is now. Maybe a Russian arms dealer bought some cheap surplus and drove it down to the border to sell to the other side. Who knows?

Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

You guy's must've been keeping your ears to the ground lately, because you pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. Though I've experienced some other issues, I am absolutely ecstatic to know that you guys are listening! ______________________________________________________________________________ Bugs: i'm not completely sure what causes it but I've had a large amount of input lag when I open doors/pickup items or do anything that uses the X button. After pressing X and waiting about 20 seconds the door magically opens. if it isn't just lag. I think it might be caused by using the binoculars. Once you fill a barrel, tent, chest, with so many items its very hard to navigate the lower section of the container's inventory. As you scroll through the items, the window shifts from showing the top of the containers inventory and the bottom of the contents. Meaning with every other item you scroll over. The window moves to the bottom and you cant see what you are selecting. Whilst walking around the airfield the woodland background noise sometimes changes very abruptly to the windy ambient noise, or vice versa. Do I dare say it? Night time is too short now. and rain is nonexistent. (in large amounts they're hell. But when small they're immersive) Being able to repeatedly press RB to immobilize and bludgeon people to death. Some clothing items overlap. (Gas mask+Beret) Zombies can sometimes see you through walls. (not sure which buildings) Duct tape/sewing kit gets used up completely when you try to repair something. Not sure if still relevant but. if you were handcuffed while using an emote your body would disfigure and you wouldn't be given the option to to "struggle". forcing you to stay like this until you die. Balancing: As for balancing. A lot of people say that building materials are hard to come by and that they don't get enough uses out of axes/hacksaws. I think Helicopter crashes should spawn more frequently. as I've been playing for 3 months and have yet to find one. People want character locked servers as it would make the game more fair/challenging. But it could cause longer wait times on specific servers. People also find they have to eat or drink too often and baking food on a long stick takes too long. Servers: Server's seem fine to me. Most of them are full on the weekends, the queue's on popular servers sometimes go up to 25, but I find the line moves fast enough. I don't mind waiting up to 10 minutes to get into my home server. I don't disconnect very often either. Maybe once every couple hours including server restarts. Controls: Finally. Controls. I think "Free-look" could be swapped from the right analog stick (RS) to the left bumper (LB). Simply because it feels weird and with how frequently I "Free-look" it quickly wears down my controller. But with that being said. I'm already used to this button layout and though i think it could be improved, changing it might confuse people and the layout might not remain as good as it is now.
  13. Ohhh. i get it now. I thought you were talking about a toggle-able leaning mode. something where you'd push RT and your right stick would control leaning left and right. (I was predominantly a Ps4 Noob. That's just what the analog sticks are called on the PS controllers. I only got the Xbox for Dayz, didn't want to wait an extra year.)
  14. Wouldn't that disable Free-look while aiming though? As if you were Aim/ADS and pushed LB to free-look wouldn't you just end up holding your breath? I enjoy being able to look over at my comrades while aiming down my sight. Turn my head to talk and listen. I find it pretty neat and immersive. I read your other post and everything seems pretty sensible but i don't think you took into account the two different ADS's. (Iron sights and Scopes) As it stands, you have to raise your weapon with LT, Press RB to enter iron sights, then press LT to look down your scope. So those actions would have to get remapped. Whether or not making RB cycle between Sights and Scopes would help anything. I don't know. Other than that, I have a different idea for "leaning left/right". (When it's implemented) Id suggest leaning be mapped to L3 and R3. And used while holding LT to raise your weapon. (I'm used to AAPG on PS4) But that might also clash with using L3 to toggle weapon fire modes. Either way, great contribution. I didn't even think about "breath control" or "leaning" at first. Looks like the Xbox Dev's have a big piece of work cut out for them.

    Xbox Update 14/01/2019

Firearm Ghost icon, I believe. Refers to the new icon that indicates whether your weapon is set to either full or semi automatic fire. As for Geo LODs (Geometric) (Level of detail) I found this article.. https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/LOD It seems to be a resource for modders but it defines LODs. What's A LOD? "LOD means Level of Detail, and is a method of defining, via different variations of a model, how high or low the viewable quality of the model should be, and how it should interact with the environment." It goes on to say geometry "defines where the model will collide with other objects." So i assume they fixed collision issues with certain clothing items popping through walls or clothing overlapping? Wait a minute just read more. I was wrong. What is "FIRE GEOMETRY": "Fire Geometry. Defines where the model will collide with bullets & rockets. If this LOD is not present the Geometry LOD will be used instead. Should be simplified as much as possible, but can be a bit more complex then Geometry or Geometry Phys"
  16. I use them both very frequently and my right analog stick is really starting to feel the wear and tear of "freelooking" all the time. Not to mention my thumb. The issue with your request is that, if they swapped free-look to RB, you wouldn't be able to use it while your aiming a weapon with LT. You'd just do a heavy attack. Or with a gun, aim down your sights. I could maybe see it being remapped to LB but that's also already mapped to aiming down scopes. Unless they swap both ADS's to the R3 or RT button (so you can cycle between them with one button). But at the same time, having to hit the R3 button first might mess up your aim, and having to double tap RT could slow you down in a gunfight. (And that's if my button layout doesn't clash with any other actions.) A lot of people call the controls difficult or unplayable. But I think they pretty much did the best that they could with the button layout. The real issue here is that there's just not enough buttons on an Xbox controller.

Did the game ran out of weapons?

I've found an old steam thread, that references a forum post, detailing this question. It's old and all of the links seem dead. I cant assure you the economy still works this way but I found it somewhat enlightening. Among many things, it says there was a max of 45k items and when an item type became more scarce it would start to spawn back in. In reply to "How does 'Central Loot Economy' work?": https://steamcommunity.com/app/221100/discussions/0/618458030654342335/ ____________________________________________________________________________________ cr151s 2 Apr, 2015 @ 12:28pm Eugen posted a fairly detailed explanation just an hour ago over at the official forums. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Maca 2 Apr, 2015 @ 12:28pm Eugen today. haha, Crisis you did it again. ;) He quotes developer: I would like to explain how this tech works, since there is loads of misunderstanding everywhere. Central economy is a system which per server controls the amount of items in game. Old spawn system was hard to configure, and even harder to control and with survival gameplay being core to DayZ we had to move away from it sooner or later. Item settings can be changed in real time through our frontend or directly in database. Each item class is tagged as crafted/not crafted, and carries nominal/minimal/maximum amount. Nominal value directly controls the amount of items the server is aiming to deliver at initial startup, after that the system is controlled by cleanup + realtime respawn. When an item class reaches (nominal - minimal) it will start restocking. Maximum amount of item class on a server is (nominal + maximum). There is also a setting that dictates maximum amount of items on a server as a total. In current iteration each server oscillates between 19k-25k items with total maximum set to 45k. Respawn tick happens every 5 seconds as does cleanup. Each class has nominal/minimal/maximum values defined. When a items class gets to a minimal value (usually about 50%) it start respawning based on priorities. That can constitute the base of the system with a lot more to talk about in detail which is not necessary atm. Each item in persistence binary also carries a lifetime value, Aka the time in seconds it can stay on the ground before expiring. Tents and backpacks/cases have the value greatly increased while other items diminish in matter of hours. Thus the loot caches should only happen with tents/cases/backpacks. While the system cleanse's these items, it quickly starts restocking the original spawn points (memory points on buildings). Items in tents/backpacks/player inventories are not part of the calculation! The configuration of the system is in progress as are the features : Bugs : Items can disappear in vicinity of player as well as some misconfiguration causing items to disappear instantly yesterday. Rarity items except guns have not been configured yet so their spawn points are illogical. And a lot more. Future : We will continue to fine tune the system over the next couple months, With addition of new features, logical distribution, timing, And item class logic that evenly distributes the items over south/north/west/east. You can expect some finetuning of item numbers over next week and a lot more configuration changes when 0.56 hits. In the meantime enjoy the hardcore survival, and try to stay safe.

    Medic

Epinephrine shots (Adrenaline) or more commonly known as the "Epi pen". It is used to treat a number of conditions most commonly cardiac arrest and severe allergic reactions. It increases blood pressure, blood flow to muscles, output of the heart, and blood sugar level. In our body's, it's responsible for the excitation of our fight or flight response. In Dayz. Giving an Unconscious player epinephrine will instantly revive them. Unless they've bled out and lost all of their blood. As unless the heart is beating, the adrenaline cant really do anything. But as long as they're alive you can patch them up, give them a saline bag or a blood transfusion, spike them with adrenaline and they'll be ready to get back in the fight. Just as fast as they fell down. This is when having a medic on your team can come in real handy. If this game is as realistic as I know it is. I would wait until they've been bandaged to administer the epinephrine. Otherwise your patients blood pressure might rise and they could start hemorrhaging blood even faster. You might even want to give them some morphine first to slow their heart rate, giving you more time to bandage them up. I always keep an epinephrine injector and saline bag on me. Just in case someone takes me down, has a change of heart and decides to take my weapons instead of my life. Then they have the means to revive me. I also carry it for anyone I may end up wounding. But I'm not hostile. I follow the teachings of The Brave Sir Robin. I know there used to be defibrillator's on PC version. Jolting someone with the defib would revive them from the dead and it was able to give the living a shocking surprise. (You could stop someones heart with one "CLEAR") Sadly I don't think the dev's are planning to bring it back or implement anything that allows you to revive your dead comrade's.

    Duplicate things

You're right i'm not usually building watchtowers or walls. Because It's hard to find a secluded spot for something so large, It sticks out like a sore thumb, and it offers no protection as people can just hop servers into your base. But I have had countless tents and barrels which also take a long time to place and hide. It seems to me like once you've gotten geared up you don't like to loot civilian areas. I do it too. I have my rifle, my food, my water. "I have nothing else I need right now". Meanwhile I'm walking past lockpicks, netting, can opener's, hacksaws. I assure you they're not so rare you need to cheat to obtain them. That's not the last box of nails in Dayz. You WILL find more How many towns have firehouses, garages or scaffolding? Most of them. Yesterday I played for about 4 hours I found at least 3 axes/hatchets, 2 hammers, 4 pieces of rope, 2-3 shovels, 2 boxes of nails (140 nails), 3 generators, 3-4 rolls of duct tape and 2 hacksaws. I took the nails and the saws and left everything else behind. I wasn't looking for building materials. I was just going from east to west looking for a spot to pitch my tent. In my opinion the current availability of these items is fine. I'd rather scavenge the materials instead of risking a ban as I find it's not that time consuming and I like to keep an eye on any nearby towns, find new places and just really settle into the area. but I can agree it would be good if an axe would take down more trees before breaking.

    Duplicate things

I didn't know that, I usually stick to the small places. I guess my base must've been 45 minutes away. I'f you think that it's impossible to find good loot you're probably looking in the wrong spots. Places without much loot or places that are swarmed by hoppers. I've camped at the far west bases, farmed zucchini and waited for hoppers never seen any though. Matter of fact I've never seen a trace of anyone around Myshkino. With the current state of the game you just have to work around the hoppers. go places people don't go. Because that's how your intended to play the game? Yeah it takes a lot of time but Rick from the walking dead didn't even start a base until like season 4. As for bases despawning I think they made a couple tweaks last update because I had barrels stay for around 2 weeks. I think you just need flat ground and to stay somewhat close to it. What do you need to start a base? Hammer/hatchet 6/8 lb, Nails 1 lb, Rope 3 lb, Shovel 14 lb, Axe 14 lb ,Hacksaw 6 lb, DUCT TAPE 4 lb. That's 44 pounds and 6 items. All of which can be found in small towns and most of them are light enough to carry around. So I really don't understand your reasoning. Tools are uncommon but they're not something you should be exploiting the game to obtain. I usually just pick up whatever I come across, grab a barrel and find a spot to start building. BTW If you use duct tape to repair your tools you can get a lot more use out of them.

    Duplicate things

Not sure if trolling, or just stupid. What use is duplication anyway? Are you really going to need 50 guns, landmines, ghillie suits? Expecting you'll die that much? This isn't call of duty, your're not meant to be geared to the teeth 24/7. Learn how to play the game. Get off the coast and you'll have automatic weapons in 20 minutes. Hit the big bases when you want a fight, hit the small ones when you don't. On a single server there is plenty of loot to go around and it respawns about every 45 minutes. I've seen the supposed method of duplication and it puzzles me as to why people would sit in one spot and waste all of that time instead of actually playing the game. Ask how to turn invisible next. When someone stumbles upon your barrel full of landmines they aren't going to think you're good. They're going to know that you duped it, take one and dump the rest on the ground. Moral of the story. Cheating is wrong. When you start winning fights cause you've got mountains of gear, wall breaching or are invisible. Your're really not doing as much as your giving yourself credit for. You get all the reward with none of the work. But without the work you gain no experience. So when these exploits get patched, you'll be back on the coast. and then all you'll duplicate is meat for the bandits.

    ID Cards

The problem with a physical item is that hundreds of "ID Cards" will be littering the coast. or taking up space in peoples inventory. I remember on PC there was a way to check someones condition/name. It would be useful as you'd know the people around you are friendly and not notorious bandits. But i don't think its of much priority right now. Also once you kill someone and get their card what are you really going to do with it? You'll either keep them as trophies or go around bragging that you took out MrBandit. meanwhile everyone on that server now knows MrBandit is a Bandit regardless of if he changes his play style or if he was even hostile in the first place. Not to mention the possibility that people will spam him with messages after they kill him. Unlike PC, you're not able to change your xbox gamertag for free. So people can become permanently infamous and be constantly hunted or killed. Which would be fine as long as its not permanent and the player wants that experience. But without the option of anonymity it could potentially ruin the game for some people. If they were to implement an ID mechanic i think it should come along with custom characters and character names. With the amount of times I've been invited a party by some random person in my server, i definitely think custom names should be implemented. I'd much rather see "Earl" and "John" on the server list than "SaVaGKiLlA6669" and "FaZeBoii3000". Or if they implement writing on paper we can just make our own ID's.
  24. Here we go again. Classic Dayz. I'm unable to connect to any servers after my game crashed a few times. i watched the servers population lessen by the minute so i figure something broke, this is happening to a lot of people and we need a server wipe. it says some people are still playing but there's only about 10 players to a server. Let's just hope this doesn't persist through the weekend.

    Is It Possible?

Yeah it wouldn't make much sense for it to be a glitch. I've seen people able to wall breach into the roof of piano houses, and i know a walkie talkie continues to emit static when on the ground. i think it was some kind of radio or maybe they were just well hidden.
