    Landmines?

According to DayZ Wiki, you have the option to deactivate an armed land mine if you notice it but don't step on it. I have never tried this myself, so dunno if it actually works. If it's on the floor and still has its key in it, it should be safe to pick up.

    Aleutian Wasteland

I've made a few subtle changes to the server, so come check it out: I am following the real date, so we're now into the even colder January Namalsk temperatures I added a few of DeanosBeano's terrific invisible bloodsuckers -- only a handful of them across the map -- they could be anywhere Specific Tier 4 loot now spawns exclusively at either the submarine or the Bering Outpost, making both worth the trip across the ice The drybags in boats along all shores have a chance at containing food, so traveling anywhere on the map should be possible without necessarily starving to death While I am trying to keep the server with very few mods, I am open to suggestions as to what to add, so if you have checked out the server and have some feedback, please consider joining our Discord and providing your experiences and ideas for future changes. Cheers. Discord: https://discord.gg/scjnsuwTpC

  4. @sanzo24 I watched your video and in it, you are trying to connect to one of the Netherlands official servers. May I ask what country you live in? Also, I suggest you try what's called a trace route to see how many hops it takes your internet connection to reach one of these servers and if there are any hops along the way with a high ping because even one such hop can cause this error. To do a trace route, first find the IP address for the server you are trying to connect to, then open a command prompt on your computer and type: tracert {IP} replacing the {IP} with the IP address. This will show you the route being taken to get to the server.

    DayZ official singapore server?

My guess would be its Steam query port isn't open. If possible, you should contact the owner of the server if he/she has a Discord or website or something and let them know that the server isn't visible in the launcher. If you know its IP address though, you could try direct connecting to it.

    DayZ 2020 Year in Review

I'm excited to read this portion of that sentence!! Great work this year and glad to hear we have more to look forward to, especially given the year that we've all just endured. Happy Holidays to everyone -- can't wait to see what you guys have planned for 2021! ☺️

    Broken Nutrition/Hydration mechanics

@Private EvansI'm curious as to what your play style is. I suspect your shift key is being pressed right from your spawn point which if true is the root of the problem. If you don't sprint right out of the gate, you should not be starving to death. You'll notice clothes have an insulation factor now and if your temperature icon is any shade of blue, your character is cold and your energy level will drop more rapidly. You should be looking for clothes with better insulation right away and jog while doing so. If you play this way, it's rare to die of starvation -- it'll still happen sometimes as it should -- dying of starvation and dehydration should be part of the game now and then. I don't agree about not needing to drink. If you find a well, you should be drinking until your stomach is full icon appears. Your bottle will be full and that's one less thing to worry about.

    Noob question: storage persistence

@TayAIThe CE (Central Economy) works off of nominal numbers, meaning nominally, there should be this number of X item available to loot in the world. Let's use flashlights as an example. In the server types file, it says that nominally, there should be 90 lootable flashlights in Chernarus. There is also a minimum value of 70. So, what this means is the CE is going to spawn at least 70 of them, but nominally (or ideally), there will be 90 of them. Let's say at server start, there is 90. You come along and loot one of them. This triggers the CE to mark the flashlight as now being less than nominal, so as soon as a loot spot opens up in the world for the category and tag names associated with a flashlight (which is tools and shelves) and assuming there aren't other items on the "less than nominal" list ahead of the flashlight, the CE will eventually spawn one somewhere (not necessarily from the spot you looted it from) to replace the one you looted. Loot also won't spawn while you're standing in the vicinity of an open loot spot, so as VodkaFish described encountering 5 pick axes in a row, this was probably because 5 were looted across the map by 5 different people in a relatively short period of time, so the CE finds 5 spots to add 5 pick axes and if that happened to be the only tool in a less than nominal state at the time, you could wind up with a bunch of them spawning together and if those tool loot spots happened to be close to each other, you wind up with what he experienced. So, it's not random and it's not predictive based on what you might be looking for. It's completely based off of trying to keep all loot balanced to the nominal numbers.

    New Update

It didn't. Sorry, that wasn't much detail was it. 😋
  10. No, it's a mod, but not just any mod. It has been worked on for years now by a BI employee who is now in charge of DayZ overall (goes by the handle Sumrak) and he held back the release of the map until the game itself was ready for it, kind of along the lines of what you are talking about. Namalsk needed some of the old features back into the game first. Choppers are in only in mods, most specifically one called DayZ Expansion that adds a lot of extra things. I don't see helis ever coming back to vanilla at this point myself.
  11. Bones are back, fishing is back, a lot of things are back, not everything though. Why not just try it? Namalsk has just been released and it's amazing. Play on a hardcore server and be prepared to get your ass kicked btw. DayZ SA is in a better state now than it's ever been IMO. Does it have all the features of .62? No. Is it bug free? No. Is it an amazing game to play? Hell yeah. Just try it, bruh.

    More Dance Moves!

That song brought back some great Madden 2004 vibes for me... Back in the mud again and I confess, I'm so happy here There's nothing you can do to make me stay away, away, away 😋

Cant join ANY high modded servers

You don't download them by subscribing using Steam, that puts them in your Steam Workshop folder only. You download them using the built-in launcher or DZSALauncher (google that).

    Chat Functions

RE: https://feedback.bistudio.com/T150586 @ImpulZ Not sure if you are the right person to at for this, but I was wondering about the above ticket. These chat functions still seem to be broken in 1.10 so wondering how we do this now? Are there different methods to chat via the init.c or are they just still broken?

    drinks_T1 & cfgspawnabletypes.xml

It's probably a WIP. They might not have had enough time to finish it yet, but perhaps the plan is infected will have different gear on them depending on what tier they spawn in, but at the moment, the only thing they've finished is Tier 1? I say this because in cfgrandompresets, I see the comment <!--same as the one above - just preparing --> so maybe they are changing the way loot spawns on infected? I'm not sure though, it's a good question.

    drinks_T1 & cfgspawnabletypes.xml

@Markus_1337 It just means Tier 1. If you search for those in cfgrandompresets.xml you will see them listed.

    Official servers down

They were pushing a hotfix and said that all servers would be down, so you probably tried to join during that time.

There are plenty that are not password protected, so not sure why you are saying this. RunningManZ servers (and other servers by Spaggie) for example are not, did you see those?

@Omikse There really isn't a tutorial for DayZ -- you learn by playing. First and foremost, you need patience to play at first, because you will die quite often -- sometimes to the environment, sometimes to a bullet through the brain. I would start by learning the map. Use an external resource like iZurvive to get an idea of where things are. You can use the town signs on the roads to pinpoint your location. Once you figure out where you are, choose a destination and make it your goal to get there. Loot the towns and areas along the way. The most important item you'll need at first is a knife. If you can't find one, search for a pick axe or sledgehammer and if you find one of those, you can bang them against large boulders to chip off stones that you can combine and turn into a stone knife. You can search for stones along paths as well. Once you have a knife, you're golden in terms of surviving. Search for wildlife to kill and cook. You can use the knife to cut them up, but also to scrape some bark off a tree in order to get a fire going. Look for a house with a chimney and you'll most likely be able to cook your kill in there. Kill as many of the infected as you can as some of them have loot on them, including food. Once you find a well in one of the towns, make sure you drink until your stomach is full (you'll see an icon pop up -- make sure you stop immediately once you see that). Drinking a lot at the well is important to remain hydrated for a while. Depending on how thirsty to you are at the time, it could take 20 sips or more to fill your stomach. In regards to that, don't sprint at first -- stay off the shift key! It may take you a while to find food and drink, so until then, it's best to conserve your energy loss by jogging and not sprinting. Along those lines as well, the clothes you spawn with are probably poor, so look for clothes to loot and try to find clothes with high or best insulation which will go a long way to help keeping you warm. Heat packs can help as well, loot them, crack them on and spread them out across your body. My general rule of thumb as far as interacting with people is if their gun is away, it's okay, if their gun is out, be cautious. You will get a lot of KoS (Kill on Sight) with DayZ, but you will also meet some great people and have some wonderful adventures. F1 your hand up as you approach to show you're friendly. At first though, it'll be lots of respawns. Be patient and you'll get the hang of it in no time. As for servers, just sort the community tab on population and join servers with med or high pop if you want interactions or low if you just want to explore and learn the map a bit at first with few encounters with other players. Some are whitelisted and require a password, but many are not.

    Food and survival rate

You have to pay close attention to that symbol and stop eating/drinking immediately when it first appears. If you do that, you should be good, but if you continue for even a few seconds after, you'll barf.

What would make a Dayz perfect game?

Or maybe just before the infected shoot you, they say a random Schwarzenegger movie one-liner. "Who is your daddy and what does he do?" Rat tat tat tat tat tat.
