    I don't see this scope listed in the server files. If it's there, what is its type name, anyone know? Are you certain this is part of the base game or were you playing on a modded server?

    That looks like you are morphed between 0.63 and 1.0 - try deleting your Dayz folders under My Documents and under \Users\{your id}\AppData\Local and then in Steam, verify your game files and try again.

    GAAAAHH - Persistence still a mess.

    If you watched their live Twitch stream today, both Eugen and Peter talked about things they plan to fix and to add in 2019. Eugen acknowledged current bugs with the zombies and with persistence and those two things are at the top of the priorities list, along with bringing DayZ to the Linux platform. They both also mentioned things like adding helicopters and Baty mentioned that a roadmap for their plans going forward, showing what they consider the list in order of priorities, would be released to the public early in the New Year. In another post, I did say I'd believe it when I see it, but after watching them on this stream today, they do seem committed to continuing the bug fixing and development into 2019 and hopefully beyond.

    how would you increase body decay rate?

    I am still learning, but I think it relates to this value in the globals.xml file: <var name="CleanupLifetimeRuined" type="0" value="330"/> I think what this means is things that are on the ground and ruined (which would include the dead) despawn after 5 and a half minutes (i.e. 330 seconds). So, in theory, lowering this number should clear out things faster. If I'm wrong about that, someone please correct me. EDIT: I'm going to correct myself actually. I just tested this with an infected at least and she still took over 5 minutes to despawn, so perhaps this variable doesn't affect bodies - not sure tbh.

    Be Bandit, Not a Hero

    You miss out on some potential adventures with this mindset, though. I usually keep my gun put away when traveling and when I see a player, if there's is put away as well, I'll talk to them. If they respond by getting their gun out, then I'll shoot (and most likely potato and die, of course). :) If you're just going to KOS every time, you might as well play Fortnite. Besides, assembling a car or building a base is more fun with a group. I say KOS sometimes yes, but not always.
  6. In the server files, the V3S is still set to not active, so it must not be ready yet.

    anyone know how to shut up the rooster

    I figured it out -- in the events.xml file in the Server files, right near the top, look for an event called "AmbientHen" and in that section, change the active value from 1 to 0. This also gets rid of the chicken I believe, but poof, no more fucking cockly-doodly-fuck-you!!! :) I don't know if you need to do a persistence wipe or not -- I am just testing a server setup on mine, so in my case, I did wipe. If chickens/roosters are stored in the persistence files, then you'd have to endure the rooster sounds until they despawn, but no new ones will spawn after you change this.

    Cannot log in to any servers

    Try deleting the DayZ folder under My Documents and the DayZ folder under C:\users\{your login name}\AppData\Local (with the game closed of course) and try again. You will have to setup your graphics, keybinds, etc. again. I hope it helps.

    I would like to know as well. I've searched the server files looking to disable it somehow...to no avail so far. The rooster, the coughing/sneezing and that ridiculous water runoff noise from buildings all need tweaking, please! Let the rooster do his cock-a-doodle-do, but how about once every 5 minutes, not seemingly every 5 friggin' seconds! As Sy said, it's doing my head in too.

    You CGT folks are so lucky! Give us a report -- is the Winchester in it? Are you vaulting all over the place? Have you flown the helicopter yet?
  13. Cooking and growing food are both in. Horticulture is basic right now, but you can place a garden on the ground, plant your seeds and is mere minutes, have a bunch of food -- why, it's a miracle, I tells ya!

    Game will not open

    As of this post time, 1.0 isn't out yet, so you have three choices at the moment: Opt into the Experimental Branch of the game, which is the latest patch released yesterday. You can play this on Official Experimental servers only. Good luck getting the server browser to work without crashing your game, however. Opt out of Experimental and you'll be on the current stable branch, version 0.63.149525 which was released a few weeks ago. With this, you can play on any server that matches that version number (most of the Community Tab atm) As marcheur said, opt out of Experimental, wait until 1.0 releases at 7:00pm CET today and then it will become available to download as the new stable branch

AFAIK, that graphic is still correct with only two exceptions that I can see: On the bottom left under Specific Content / Vehicles / Definitely in Beta, only the shell of the V3S is in the game. You can't drive it (unless they surprise us with that today with 1.0) Over on the right under Other Features, it lists range finders, bear traps and land mines. They all are already in, but perhaps this refers to new or better versions of them The rest of it is basically correct I believe, again, pending any bonus addition we get today in the official build of 1.0.

    Bunch of questions

    I can answer these for you: There are heli crash sites in the game, but they aren't events as such (i.e. you don't see them crash). Only a fraction of the guns on that list are in the game at the moment -- SVD, AK, UMP, some shotties, Mosin, MP5, M4, FNX, CR75 and Makarov are in. I don't bother with that, it's more fun to cook it on a stick. I would think so, yes. Wolves are in, but are a bit derpy like the infected -- for example, wolves can bite you even when you're inside the car. Currently, Stable branch is a few patches behind what Experimental has -- the current Stable patch has the "I can't hear my gunshots" sound bug for example. I believe it should go into your inventory if you have space for it, otherwise, on the ground if you don't. Throwing isn't in right now, so grenades are pointless. Land mines can be planted and they do explode, however. This was a decision BI made a while back and I don't really understand why. You can use DayZ Spy website to see the exact number if you want. "Low" depends on how many slots there are on the server. Helicopters will appear sometime in 2019 hopefully -- devs have said helis and bicycles will be in post-1.0 and helis will most likely come first because they are easier to implement apparently.

    Yes, I'm interested in this as well as I'm working on getting a server setup for early in 2019. I'm sure this is probably the busiest week in the past 5 years for the BI DayZ team, but at some point, getting those 404 error links fixed with updated server setup/requirements/etc. information would be much appreciated.

    Fragnet is one provider of DayZ server hosting and they list this as their machine specs: "E3-1270v2 CPUs offering 3.5Ghz (turboboost to 3.9Ghz), minimum of 16Gb DDR3 ECC RAM and SSD for faster disk access."

    PC 1.0 Release Date Announcement

    It is different. It's not a question of being able to play it -- of course, the public has been able to play some version of it since December 2013. The point is the expectations of the state of the game. In Early Access, having bugs, crashes and missing content is expected. In a "released" state, those things are not expected -- those things are supposed to be fixed. In the case of DayZ, it seems it's going to be released in a state that feels like it's still in Early Access, which is a shame.

    PC 1.0 Release Date Announcement

    The game was not released a while ago, the game was made available in Early Access a while ago -- there's a big difference between those two things. A "released" game is supposed to be one that contains all the intended features of the game and one that is relatively bug-free. The initial released version of DayZ on December 13 will be neither of those things, sadly.

    PC 1.0 Release Date Announcement

    I couldn't disagree with you more. The infected teleport at the moment and with that bug in place, you can go from dealing with one to having multiple infected on you in a split second. You fall unconscious very quickly now from being hit by multiple infected and unlike in .62, they continue to whack you while you're unconscious and you're essentially dead. The other day, I had looted for a good two hours and was making my way into the map when I entered a house that unbeknownst to me already had one infected in it -- then a second one spawned next to me and a third teleported to me as I was trying to escape through the door. The three of them hit me too many times and I was dead. These are major bugs -- sure, you can release it with bugs like the head torch not working properly and inventory glitches and things like that, but to call it released after 5 years with such significant, gameplay-affecting bugs in place is beyond baffling. Hopefully, they fix the teleporting infected and other major issues by Thursday, but I think the point everyone is making here is, we've been crawling along in development like a tortoise for five years and suddenly, we turn into a jack rabbit on amphetamines and sprint as fast as we can to the finish line.

    Server hopping?

    Why would I think that? Because why would you build a base on official servers and be subject to this issue when you can build it on a non-hive community server where hopping isn't a problem? Not only that, your base would be at the mercy of BI wiping the official server clean for an upcoming post-1.0 test/patch whereas there are plenty of (and no doubt will be more) community servers dedicated to persistence and base building.
