There's a mechanic to do blood transfusions, but it isn't really necessary in most cases. Blood will regenerate on its own soon enough, even if you're near death and your screen is completely black and white, in about 15 minutes or so, you'll be close to full health again, assuming you aren't still bleeding or starving/dehydrated. If you want to go full immersion though, seek out one of the blue medical facilities or a hospital in one of the cities where you can loot blood bags and test kits to do a transfusion from a buddy. As I say, I've never bothered -- I just wait it out and let the blood come back on its own -- I have never tried doing a transfusion in 1.0 but I believe it works.

There's no real way to add him as a friend in the game itself -- just add him as a friend on Steam so you'll know when he's online, then you can message each other to be in the same server together. There are community servers as well that have clans, you could both join one of those as well. Check out the Recruitment section on here for that.

I take it you're trying to connect to a modded server? If so, use DZSALauncher instead. You can get it here: https://dayzsalauncher.com/#/home If not, just launch it using your Steam client.

If you're a server owner and have access to edit the XML files, try editing the cfgspawnabletypes.xml file and down around line 1475 you'll see the definition for the hatchback. Change all the chances to 1.00 -- this will spawn fully-assembled cars but they are usable at least. Like this: <type name="OffroadHatchback"> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackWheel" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackWheel" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackWheel" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackWheel" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackWheel" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="CarRadiator" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="CarBattery" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HeadlightH7" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HeadlightH7" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackDoors_Driver" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackDoors_CoDriver" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackHood" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="HatchbackTrunk" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> <attachments chance="1.00"> <item name="SparkPlug" chance="1.00" /> </attachments> </type>

Random Spawns and Forecasted Weather Server
drgullen replied to drgullen's topic in Server Advertisement
We're about to have our first event weekend on this new server -- hope some of you will come and check it out! Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4:00am to Midnight PST (GMT-8) Search for the word "weather" (without the quotes) in your server browser filter or connect directly via 23.106.215.64:2302 Every Friday, we will have a PvP session at the next town in the alphabetical list. Since this is the first one, we're kicking it off in Balota! Here are the highlights of this event: Each character life is 2 hours maximum as you'll start again with each server restart Players will spawn-in somewhere within the area shown in the picture above with a different random inventory each life Players will have a primary and a secondary weapon on them, with mags and/or ammo for each and with some having scopes and suppressors as well as a random melee weapon. During the night periods (8 to 10pm and 10pm to Midnight -- game time same as server time), the primary will be either an AK or SVD with the Kazuar night scope You will have only 2 rags and one other random piece of loot on you -- keep in mind that the trees are your friends -- plenty of apples, pears and plums to eat for hydration and energy The airfield and Balota itself will also have plenty of loot if you need resupply All the infected have been given sleeping pills for the day, so they won't interfere in all the rootin' tootin' shootin' Come out and get your snipe on this Friday and every Friday on this server -- Random Spawns and Forecasted Weather -- 23.106.215.64:2302 Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 4:00am to Midnight PST (GMT-8) Search for the word "weather" (without the quotes) in your server browser filter or connect directly via 23.106.215.64:2302 Saturday is Event Day on this server and we're kicking it off with hopefully some actual traffic in Chenarus! Here are the highlights of this event: All new spawns will spawn-in near a fully-assembled vehicle Players will be carrying a backpack containing enough fluids to get the car running There will be dozens of cars all across the map, so if you spawn in and the car isn't there (probably taken by someone else), just respawn for a different location Once you're on the road, tune your handheld receiver to 96.6 to meet up with others NOTE #1: Your first order of business should be to top up all the fluids as you will only have the minimum amount of water, oil and gas on you to get the car running without it overheating or breaking down. This won't last long though, so make sure to loot more liquids ASAP, beginning with water for both you and the radiator! NOTE #2: Due to the randomness of the car spawns, they sometimes are clipping trees or buildings. If you find one in such a state, AVOID IT OR DIE! Attempting to enter a vehicle that is clipped into something else with result in instant death, so trust me, just respawn to find another one. There's no set rules for the event regarding the cars. We could have street races, we could have a smash-up derby or we can just try and run each other over, I suppose. If you haven't experienced driving a car yet because it was too tedious (or deadly) to assemble them, here's your chance to drive some and hopefully have some fun doing it! See you down the road a ways! Random Spawns and Forecasted Weather -- 23.106.215.64:2302 For more information on these events and this server, check out the forum at http://rsfw.forumotion.com/ -
What should you do? Play something else, I guess. Some people KOS (kill on sight) in this game. It's just the way DayZ is, but not all play that way. When you approach people, push F1 to raise your hand and say hello. If that person is holding a gun though, even if you do that, he may kill you anyway. Not much you can do in that case other than fight back or try to escape. The cross flashing means you are near death, yes. Bandaging will only help if the blood icon to the left of the cross has down arrows on it. That means you're bleeding and then it's time to bandage. Health will recover by itself over time as long as you aren't red hungry or thirsty. You won't be able to full sprint though until you're back to white health (white cross). Don't give up, there's lots of friendlies out there -- just keep looking for them. If you're on a server getting KOS'd a lot, just try a different server.

Shut down the game and Steam and then delete your My Documents\DayZ folder and delete your Users\{login id}\AppData\Local\DayZ folder and then launch Steam, right-click on DayZ, select Properties and choose the option to verify all your local files. After all that, launch DayZ again and it should create a new set of keybinds. I hope this helps.

I don't think that date comes into play for persistence. I just tested this by downloading a copy of the persistence files from my host to my laptop. I was standing behind a car that I've been driving with a trunk full of loot and I dropped my backpack on the ground behind me and I put a lone can of sardines in it. After this, I stopped the server, edited the init.c file and pushed the date forward by a year. I started it up again, logged in and absolutely everything was still there. The car was there with all its loot in the trunk and the backpack was still behind me with the sardines in it. I think probably the countdown timers as to when cleanups occur are within the binary files somewhere and they are probably just a number counting down to 0 when the server is up. I believe the date of the server only comes into play to determine how much daylight there will be, the positions of the sun and moon, whether it's a new, half or full moon, etc.
-
I believe the nominal number indicates the nominal amount of that item to spawn in the first place, so I would think somebody looting a large tent would eventually trigger the CLE to spawn another one, but I wouldn't think a tent in use counts towards that number.

The symbol that appears means your stomach is full. If you had stopped drinking right then and there, you shouldn't have vomited, but if you continue to eat or drink with that symbol present, you'll barf for sure. The food and drink arrows will continue to rise for a bit after you stop eating or drinking. If you took 35 sips, you're hydration would have been fine for a good while -- long enough to loot more liquids for sure. I would say the first order of business for a beginner is to learn the map. As in IRL, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, so use a map like iZurvive to figure out where you are and then travel around and explore the various towns, villages, military bases. Setting little goals are a good idea -- first one could be loot for a compass to help you navigate. Vehicles are tough to get going on most servers because they are usually missing most of their parts and it will take you ages to get them assembled -- a bunch of friends together though could speed up the process. (just as fyi, on the server I've just put up -- Random Spawns and Forecasted Weather -- the cars come fully-assembled, so all you need to loot are the liquids -- water, oil and gas). From my experience, don't drive a car until you've put at least 8 water bottles worth of water in the radiator and at least one container of motor oil in the engine (and some gas of course). You'll need to top those up, but the car should run okay for a bit like that -- if you see a yellow engine light come on, pull over and shut it off immediately, otherwise the car will be dead very soon. The yellow light is usually to warn you that you are low on something, either water or oil. Have fun!

Random Spawns and Forecasted Weather Server
drgullen replied to drgullen's topic in Server Advertisement
Happy New Year survivors! This server goes live this morning at 4:00am PST (GMT-8) in the Community Tab. Search for the word "weather" (without the quotes) in your server browser filter or connect directly via 23.106.215.64:2302 You can read my original post for the details and also check out the server's forum at http://rsfw.forumotion.com -
Well, if you are manually controlling the restarts, then it's easy in terms of knowing if there's corruption -- if the server isn't running and you didn't manually stop it, then it crashed and your persistence is now corrupted. In your latest post, you don't mention taking backups at all. You should try to backup your persistence files at least once a day otherwise your players are eventually going to lose everything they've built and stashed. Here's a similar copy command to the one that I am going to be using on my server: robocopy C:\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZServer\mpmissions\dayzOffline.chernarusplus\storage_1 C:\users\{login ID}\documents\DayZServer\storage_backup /E /R:2 /W:2 You would change login ID to your name of course. Robocopy works better than xcopy because those two switches on the end will pause and retry if by chance the server was updating the file that you were trying to copy, meaning you can safely execute this command while the server is running. If you execute this a few times a day (and just after you shut down the server assuming you had no corruption), then you will have some backup persistence that you can restore in the case of a crash so you at least don't lose everything that was in the world previously. One way to know if your persistence is corrupted is if any of the bin files inside the storage_1/data folder have a size of 0 KB. If any of them do, you had a crash most likely and the files in that folder will be replaced upon the next server restart.

It's probably just a syntax error -- check for a missing semicolon or typo on or around line 181.

DayZ 1.0 Private Server - No longer appearing in list with filters
drgullen replied to colinm9991's topic in Servers
Well, for the record, with steamQueryPort = 2305; in my config file, the server wasn't showing up on DZSALauncher either. -
Why is incurable sicknesses in the game but not the ability to repair ghillies?
drgullen replied to xXDzepniXx's topic in General Discussion
I don't bother with ghillies myself, but have you tried repairing it with duct tape? That seems to fix everything these days. -
DayZ 1.0 Private Server - No longer appearing in list with filters
drgullen replied to colinm9991's topic in Servers
Ok, well I bit the bullet and reinstalled DayZServer. There is a new parameter in the serverDZ.cfg file defined as follows: serverNightTimeAcceleration=1; // Accelerated Nigh Time - The numerical value being a multiplier (0.1-64) and also multiplied by serverTimeAcceleration value. Thus, in case it is set to 4 and serverTimeAcceleration is set to 2, night time would move 8 times faster than normal. An entire night would pass in 3 hours. I don't know what build that was added in, but my cfg file didn't have it. When I verified my files, it didn't update this cfg initially -- I had to physically delete the file to get Steam to download it again. So, those of you having LAN server issues, I suggest you rename your top folder DayZServer_old or something and have Steam download the whole thing again, then try it. I can see my LAN server in the browser again now. EDIT: I think the culprit for me at least was having steamQueryPort = 2305; in my config file -- take this out if you have it present and your LAN server should show up now. -
DayZ 1.0 Private Server - No longer appearing in list with filters
drgullen replied to colinm9991's topic in Servers
LOL I am the exact opposite of your problem. I can see my server on the Community Tab, but for the past couple of days now, I can't see my LAN server anymore running here on my laptop. I can start the server up, it seems to be fine, I see it reading the mission and loading the world, etc. I can start BEC up and it will connect and login to the server no problem, but neither the built-in server browser nor DayZSALauncher finds the LAN server. All my required ports are open and I've changed nothing in terms of the LAN server setup, but now, the server browser says there are no LAN servers running. I've tried adding -connect with the IP:port in the launch params as was suggested in another post, but DayZ hangs when doing that. I can no longer connect my client to my local server. Da fook? -
I didn't change anything in regards to the hatchback in events.xml, only the percentage chance in cfgspawnabletypes.xml. As for respawning them quicker, I'm not entirely sure how that works. There are cleanup values in global.xml, but I don't know if those also apply to vehicles. You could try tinkering with those numbers and then ruin a car on purpose and see how long before it despawns. I know there's also some randomness as to where a ruined car respawns (i.e. a car spawn point can at first have a car, but on next server start, that same spot doesn't have one as that car spawned somewhere else this time).
-
AFAIK, you can't fix the internal parts of the car, only the tires -- well, I've seen a tire repair kit as a lootable item, but haven't tried it myself, so don't know if it actually works. My advice -- drive it around, loot some more fuel, oil and water and then see if you can find another car spawned somewhere and transfer the parts into that one. After that, shoot up the front of your first car until its label dot turns red -- then it will despawn and should respawn working correctly later on.

The reality of the situation is that the persistence issues are tied to server crashes which have been happening in all versions of DayZ in one form or another going back to the original Arma II mod in early 2013. The DayZ Server can crash for many reasons, so this isn't going to be a quick fix on the part of the devs. It will be a systematic, figure-the-crashes-out-one-by-one type of situation, so we're going to have persistence-related issues for the foreseeable future. There's no way to put a time frame on it because I don't believe the devs know all the reasons why the servers crash. Persistence will only be completely fixed once all those reasons are known, reproduced and fixed.

Temporary Change to the Hosting Rules regarding Persistence Backups
drgullen replied to ImpulZ's topic in Servers
Well, the new rule says "you can ask them now to provide options to regularly save and restore your persistence files". I personally wouldn't call "regularly" unlimited, but I would think that's more than 4 a day -- it seems the devs are leaving it up to the individual GSP to decide how many you get per day. The rule does say "saves" though, which I would interpret to mean backups. Backups need to occur hourly I would say and a restore needs to happen immediately after a server crash, otherwise you risk losing many hours of persistence. For example, let's say you have a backup scheduled for 9:00am and the GSP schedules the next one for 5:00pm -- the 9:00am backup occurs, the server is relatively stable all day, but then crashes at 4:20pm (LOL) -- since no backup has happened since 9 that means everything built/placed/buried between 9:00am and 4:20pm is now gone. The backup at 5:00pm would only preserve the world for the past 40 minutes, since the restart following the 4:20pm crash would have reloaded the world. -

How the fuck are you supposed to do a restore without a backup? LOL -
Launching DayZ , shutsdown on DayZ loading screen.
drgullen replied to Rdaems's topic in Troubleshooting
Try this in this order: 1) Make sure everything related to DayZ is shut down 2) Delete your My Documents\DayZ folder 3) Delete your \Users\{whatever your Windows ID is}\AppData\Local\DayZ folder 4) Start Steam and verify all your files for DayZ After all this, now try starting the game -- you'll have to setup your graphics, controls, etc. again and you'll be prompted for the Battleye aggreement again. -
If it's a graceful restart (i.e. not a server crash), then no, the persistence files don't go -- they stay put and the world should look as it did a few moments ago when the server comes back up. If the server crashes however, the persistence files get corrupted and so the server ignores them and recreates the world based on what's defined in the XML files.
