  1. Right and with all due respect to Impulz who does a great job on these forums, where have all these posts gotten us? There are hundreds of posts on here from people complaining that it was not ready to be released, myself included, dating back into the Alpha period, yet they released it anyway and, based on the post by RaptorM60 in the Announcements thread dated May 15 entitled "News regarding the 2019 Roadmap", they are going to develop it on their own terms without giving us an idea of what additions will be added next and when. There is a plentiful supply of posts complaining about that as well, also to no avail. I think the devs are well aware that people aren't happy with the slow progress, but Bohemia being slow at developing this game literally goes back more than 5 years now -- they have always developed it at their own pace in their own way and I don't see that changing, especially since it's now released. So, by all means, continue your posts if you like, but you are essentially a broken record at this point. The devs have heard everyone loud and clear, they have told us so verbally on several of their announcement streams, so they clearly aren't altering course based on complaints entered on this forum. Realistically, this means all we can hope for now is that they are true to their word and everything missing eventually gets added back in. As to what has been added, you're absolutely right Freerider, none of those things you listed are in yet, which is a shame, but again, complaining about it on here ain't gonna make one iota of difference in terms of when those things show up. The additions I was talking about are some that were on a graphic that listed categories of post-1.0 items to be added, some of which (like some new guns, a couple of new cars, some new clothing/gear) have indeed been added.
  2. I'm with IMT on this one. NVGs should be in the game, but hard to find -- perhaps they should be restricted to spawning at heli crashes, for example. As he said, you should be rewarded if you can keep your character alive long enough and if you know night is coming, you can make finding NVGs as perhaps your primary loot goal. If you find them, sure, you have an advantage over those that don't have them. It's the same as someone holding an AK is going to have an advantage over someone who has only looted a knife. In reality, unless you're both freshies on the coast, it's rare that two players who encounter each other are ever balanced, whether it's day or night, one of them is usually going to have an advantage over the other just based on whatever loot is on them.

    Nespesney just quit DayZ...

I can't speak to DayZ on console -- don't own a console, never have and never will. On PC, the game is already optimized very well -- it's usually always buttery smooth for me, assuming the server I'm playing on isn't misbehaving, getting DDOS'd, etc. The point of adding content is that there are multiple sections within the development team -- some are tasked with bug fixing, some are tasked with creating new content, some are tasked with testing/implementing said new content. In other words, you can't have everyone working on the same thing, that's not how software companies work. Even if they stopped all development and attempted to fix every single bug before adding any new content, the moment they did resume and add something new, it would break something old that was unforeseen. So, it makes more sense to do both simultaneously, assuming you have the resources to do so and they claim to have 80+ people working on DayZ. Apparently, both XBOX and PS4 are going straight from 1.02 to 1.04 shortly after it comes out on PC in the not-too-distant future I believe, so actually, I think your days are about to get brighter @Flyingpapaya, so hang in there.
  4. What other choice do we have but to have patience and hope that, at some point, they reintegrate the things they said they would? The game is already released. Bohemia isn't suddenly going to read through this forum and say, "They're right -- let's refund everybody's money, put the game back into Alpha and work on it for another couple of years." It's released already, so we have whatever further development they do and whatever mods are produced to look forward to now. The only other choice as I see it is to boycott and stop playing the game altogether, but even in its current state, I still get a lot of enjoyment out of it, so I'm not willing to do that. I don't see the point of continued moaning and groaning about this situation, given the fact we are now beyond 6 months since it was released. I think all we can do now is have patience and hope that the game continues to improve with post-1.0 development. Having said that, I do expect them to be true to their word and continue putting the missing pieces back into the game as they said they would -- only the coming months and probably years will tell if that actually happens though.

    Bicycles for transportation

Bicycles are supposed to be in the game at some point -- hopefully they come with a light already attached so that all you need to loot is a 9V battery. I love the idea of horses, but I doubt you'll ever see that in the official game -- there's a mod being worked on to put moving trains into the game, so perhaps a horse mod will be created at some point as well.

    Nespesney just quit DayZ...

All you have to do is look at the patch notes for 1.01, 1.02 and 1.03 -- so far, since December 13, 2018, they've added two cars, several guns, a bunch of clothing, etc, etc. To me, that proves it. Is it slow as fuck? Do they have a long way to go? Yes, but I am keeping the faith that eventually, the remaining things missing from the game will be added. If that's me being a cheerleader, so be it. Your post makes it sound like all development has ceased, so "the party is over and it's time to stand up". What does that mean exactly? Are you planning to fly to the Czech Republic and protest in front of their offices until the game is completed to your satisfaction? It is what it is. It's a video game that was released too early, but is still being worked on. The party is far from over -- the fat lady ain't even here yet.
  7. So what? I don't understand why everyone gets hung up on this point. Was the game released too early? Absolutely, but the developers obviously had no choice because the execs told them they needed a released version of the game to be able to sell it on consoles. Console sales = money for BI = more money for further development. Do you not comprehend that? Of course, Eugen and the team can't come out and say "Well, the bosses have told us to release it, so we have to even though it's not ready to go" but if you read between the lines, I think that's what happened. Software is software, whether it's accounting software or a video game. I've worked for several non-gaming software companies in my career and they all did this kind of shit -- release the software too early to secure sales and clean up the mess afterwards -- it's no different for a video game company and I believe that's what happened here. Bohemia bit off more than they could chew when they decided to scrap the Arma Engine in favor of a brand new engine. The result was an Alpha period that lasted way too long leading to those holding the purse strings to insist that the game release already. So, they sold us some bullshit about wanting "a stable core to build upon" as the reason for releasing the game and here we are. While I don't like how things have unfolded, I do get it because I've been in that meeting before. The meeting where we developers are trying to explain to the suits that we can't release it yet because there is core functionality that was present 5 years ago still missing, but the response back is, "It's been long enough -- it needs to be released before Christmas." Like you Guy, I also bought the game years ago and I've certainly got my money's worth out of it. Even in its current state, no other game I've ever played can make my heart race when I know from the presence of infected in an area that there's a player nearby. I could be shot and killed at any second -- I found that aspect of DayZ exhilarating in the Alpha versions and I still do with the current 1.03 version. So yeah, should the game still be in Alpha/Beta right now? Definitely, but it was released to secure sales and as long as those sales mean the development continues and the things you mentioned, which were "vaulting, throwing, fractures, medical system, dynamic weather, freezing to death, actual diseases" all eventually get put back into the game, I think we'll be good. If Bohemia takes the console money and runs however, that's a different story.

There is no published roadmap, that is true. What I meant is that the development team are aware of what's missing in the game and are working on implementing those missing pieces.
  9. As long as they keep developing it, I have no issue. If Eugen suddenly announces that 1.04 is the last patch we're going to get, then yeah, I'll be changing my tune.
  10. Freerider, I think you already got the answer you seek -- it's part of that Roadmap news article you initially posted. The only news we're going to get from them is when they post patches/updates on this forum and at this point, personally, that is good enough for me. They told us in 2018 that development would continue post-1.0 and it has. They had a list back then of post-1.0 items that they would be adding to the game in 1.01 and beyond and some of those things are now in the game. Do they have a ways to go before it contains everything that .62 had? Sure, but they are working on it and that really should be reassuring enough for you to know that the game is going to continue to improve over the second half of 2019 and most likely beyond, given the fact that they are in the beginning stages of developing their SurvivorZ BR version of the game. Do you really want a roadmap saying "we're going to work on X and then Y and then Z" only to have them issue Roadmap #2 a month later with most of that changed for one reason or another, then Roadmap #3 with more changes for various reasons a month or so after that, then #4, then #5? I certainly don't want that -- I know they are working on vaulting for example and I want it in the game when it's ready to be put in and not rushed in due to trying to adhere to some roadmap declaration. They have made this kind of mistake in the past and are trying not to repeat it is how I'm interpreting that announcement. They know what's missing from the game. They've told us they are working on it. The continued patches we've received since 1.0 prove they are working on it. Is the progression slow? Yes, dreadfully slow, but it is progression nonetheless. The missing elements will be in when they're in. Until then, play the game, have fun with it and be REASSURED that some day down the road, you'll be vaulting over a fence with a drop that you weren't expecting and wind up with a broken leg and then die when some douche tosses a grenade over that same fence that explodes next to you.
  11. Shooting the infected should be used only as a last resort because the sound echos and gives your position away to those in a large area around you. Use your fists on the infected if you don't have a melee weapon to kill them with, otherwise trap them inside buildings or storage containers if you have too many of them near you. Only shoot them if you're surrounded by them and being whacked by more than one at a time, because at that point, you're risking unconsciousness followed quickly by death. Every time you fire a weapon, you should then be relocating to a different area, because it's basically you announcing "I'm over here guys!" If you shoot and kill a player, don't assume you're safe -- flank away from that area and keep an eye out for his possible buddies nearby -- after scoping it out for a minute or two, at that point move in to loot the corpse, but do it quickly and then move away, find cover and sort out your new loot in a not-so-hot location. In this case, you made it very simple for the guy who killed you as he heard you shooting at all the infected, so he knew exactly where you were and positioned himself accordingly and just waited for you to either blow yourself up on the mine or exit the building. Related to what IMT said earlier, you should have taken cover the moment you suspected you saw someone because better safe than sorry. If you had retreated slightly and found cover, you might have been able to turn the tables, scope out his position and perhaps be the one getting the kill in that case.

    Nespesney just quit DayZ...

I haven't posted on here in a while -- I see it's still the same warm and friendly place I remember! 😋 The reason Peter decided to quit (or was let go or whatever) is entirely between him and Bohemia and quite frankly, is none of our business. All we can do is thank him for all his efforts these past years and wish him well for his future. Not to belittle his role, but he will either be replaced or his position will be dissolved. I doubt much is going to change in terms of the direction DayZ will take going forward -- it's now released on PC and two consoles and the general idea of what the game is supposed to be is already in place. There is not much "development" left to do per say -- there are still lots of things missing from the game, like helicopters, bone fractures, vaulting, etc., but there is already a road map in place for eventually getting those things into the game and all we can do is believe the developers when they tell us those things will one day be in the game again. I think at the end of the day, the Doris analogy given earlier is correct -- you can have some of the top brass leave and the company will go on, but if Doris stops cleaning the shitter, the office descends into anarchy in no time at all. The point being that Bohemia and DayZ will carry on just fine until the inevitable day that they announce version number whatever dot whatever is the last version with new things added. I'm sure even without Peter involved, that day is still a ways down the road and will unfold much like it would have had Peter not departed the company. if Doris stops showing up though (i.e. those hard workers doing the programming), then we might have something to worry about. So Peter, best of luck to you sir, thank you for your accomplishments with Bohemia over the years and good luck with whatever you do next.
  13. @krcenov Have you made any progress on this as I am interested in putting up a custom map on my server. I have the loot spawning properly, but I cannot get any of the AI to spawn because I don't think the map has proper boundaries set, so for the infected to spawn for example, they need to know where all of the territory zones (InfectedArmy, InfectedVillage, etc.) are, otherwise, they don't spawn. I'm guessing at that though because I don't really completely understand how it works. Anyone have any ideas on what needs to be done to get the AI to spawn properly on a custom map?

Look in your Windows Control Panel for that redistributable and uninstall it, then reboot the PC and then download and install it again -- perhaps the versions you have installed are corrupted or incomplete. When you reinstall, make sure you are installing both the x86 and x64 versions as per: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/the-procedure-entry-point-terminate-could-not-be/4bda41da-ada8-4a74-b6a4-78544e85f709

New spawns arrive with only 2 rags and 1 random piece of loot (could be anything from an apple to a gun) New spawns at night (8pm to Midnight PST GMT-8) also arrive with 2 road flares to help you find your way in the dark Loot on infected has been eliminated for slightly more hardcore survival Loot increased slightly at places like deer stands, police stations and schools Loot re-spawn rate reduced significantly to help eliminate loot cycling Weather for the current period (until next restart) and upcoming period (after next restart) forecasted in the Server Messages Weather will change gracefully over time (i.e. it won't go from clear skies to heavy rain in one restart) ... and finally, saving the best for last ... THAT !#$%@#$ ROOSTER IS EXTINCT ON THIS SERVER!!!! :) SERVER SCHEDULE Mondays: Mamino/Mogilevka/Msta/Myshkino Mondays (all new spawns are within the vicinity of the selected town - different town selected each Monday) Tuesdays: Western Play (all new spawns could spawn anywhere west of Novy Sobor) Wednesdays: Wide Open Wednesdays (all new spawns could spawn anywhere on the map) Thursdays: Eastern Play (all new spawns could spawn anywhere east of Stary Sobor) Fridays: A to Z Firefights (towns selected in alphabetical order for PvP - players spawn near the selected town with random weapons/ammo in their inventory) Saturdays: Event Day (various events will happen - check out the server's forum at http://rsfw.forumotion.com/ for details) Sundays: Sunday Swim for the Heli of it (all new spawns could spawn anywhere along the southern coast area - Skalisty and/or Prison Islands will spawn helicopter crashes) NOTES ABOUT PERSISTENCE There will essentially be periods of persistence (Sunday to Thursday) and non-persistence (Friday and Saturday) on this server. If you wish to build bases, pitch tents, hide loot, etc. you may do so and hourly backups of the world will take place during "normal" play from the start of day on Sunday to the end of day on Thursday. During PvP Day on Friday and Event Day on Saturday, the world will be wiped on these days, but will be restored once completed. This means whatever character and gear you had and whatever items were present in the world on Thursday night will be restored on Sunday morning. In the event of a server crash (which might corrupt the persistence files), the most recent complete persistence backup will be restored and the server restarted which will hopefully minimize persistence loss, but be aware, 100% persistence is not guaranteed. Backups will occur hourly during persistence days (Sunday to Thursday).
  18. Today, Thursday, January 24, 2019 will be the final day of this server in its current form. I have been in discussions with a map developer who goes by the handle @mikejaus here on the forums. He has created a fantastic new map that he calls Tarrin and he has agreed to let me be the first community server to host it. My plan is to spend the next several days tweaking and testing the setup and assuming it all goes well, I will be swapping Chernarus out for the Tarrin map which will go live on Monday, January 28. I will be starting a new thread here in this forum for the new version of the server. I would like to thank those of you that played on this server -- the new version with the Tarrin map will have a lot of the same setup and will also be "persistent-friendly" as the regular backups of persistence that were occurring on this server will also happen on the new one, so come to Tarrin starting on Monday and build those bases! I will leave it at that for now. I would like to thank Mike for the opportunity to showcase his map. For more information about the map, check it out on the Steam Workshop here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1597789546&searchtext=

    Dayz 1.0 persistance BUG news

If you have access to the server files, you need to back up the /storage_1 folder -- all the persistence-related stuff is in there. The key is to back it up on a regular basis (like every hour if possible) and then restore the latest backup BEFORE you restart the server in the event of a crash. The problem is that most GSPs aren't doing this and when the server crashes, they just restart it again, which then wipes part or all of the persistent world items.

No interaction with objects. Please Help:/

With the item in your hand, click and hold the left mouse button. If you have the HUD turned on, you will see a white circle appear in the middle of the screen -- continue holding the button down until the circle disappears if you want to consume the entire food/beverage -- let go when the circle is half-way around if you want to consume only half and save half for later -- etc.

    Join Server Time Edit

It's in the globals.xml file -- it's the QueueTimeSameServer parameter -- I would avoid setting it to 0 however as you can start getting the "character locked in database" issue. I have mine set to 5.

    DayZ 1.0 HUD Explained

I agree, I would like to see it more along the lines as it used to be. It could perhaps be an exponential type of regen, meaning for example, if you've lost only 1-25% of your blood, it'll regen on its own in a few minutes, 25-50% blood loss and you're looking at a good 30 minutes or so before you're at full blood again, 50-75% blood loss and you need a transfusion otherwise you're health is low for more than an hour and finally anything more than 75% blood loss and your blood does not regen without a transfusion. Those are just example numbers, but the point being, with enough blood loss, you should be unhealthy for a lengthy period of time without a transfusion.

    Zombie Hords + More Zombies

The problem with this idea is that zombies can make you bleed, stun lock you if you're being hit by two or more of them and continue attacking you when you are unconscious. If they could open doors as well, you might as well just stand there and let them kill you. You need to able to escape/hide from them somehow in order to bandage and recover. I actually do like the idea, but something would have to give to balance it -- perhaps they can open doors, but not as easily as we can, so it takes them a few seconds to actually "figure it out" before the door opens and they're on you again. I would also like to see a switch back to the way it used to be -- when you fall unconscious, they back off. So, if you've temporarily escaped from them by entering a house and they manage to open the doors and whack you into unconsciousness, they then exit the building through the same door and when you hopefully wake up again, you can bandage, heal and hopefully escape. Something like that would work, but just adding the ability to open doors without tweaking anything else about them would be too OP, I think.

    New zombies

I have done this on my server. My infected no longer have any loot on them. The result is a significant drop in available food as things like canned peaches, beans and spaghetti are now very difficult to find. There are still thousands of fruit trees though, so still lots to eat in the world. The game was never designed to be played sprinting all the time (i.e. moving about while holding Shift constantly). If you move forward by holding W only and save the sprint for escaping infected and player attacks, your thirst and hunger can last much longer. The other thing I've seen from watching streams and videos is that people don't eat and drink enough to begin with. Just because your icon turned white doesn't mean you should stop. I have been able to hydrate myself to the point that the bottle icon in the HUD no longer has any arrow on it (i.e. fully hydrated). I can literally go hours after that without drinking anything and I'll still have a white bottle icon, even though there has been a down arrow on it all that time. I usually am not sprinting, however. You should eat and drink until you see the stomach icon pop up and then stop immediately at that point as that indicates your stomach is full -- if you keep going much beyond that, you'll vomit. When you first spawn in as a freshie and are yellow thirsty, you should continue sipping water at the well until you see that stomach icon -- this is the only way to get anywhere close to being fully hydrated. Same goes for eating -- eat until stomach full -- doing it this way will allow you to travel much longer between "meals".
