Sure I can address his comments -- his issue was basically that I used the word added instead of re-added. So yeah, my bad for my horrible English there, I guess. The bottom line is a game being redesigned on a new engine is still considered development, even if Weyland doesn't think it is. Bohemia can't simply copy and paste the Olga 24 from 2015 into the Enfusion engine, quoting his example -- they have to DEVELOP a new version of it for that engine, as they must do for everything else currently missing from the game. Sure, it's not development in the sense that they aren't designing a new type of enemy or an entirely different economy system, but it's development nonetheless because otherwise, all we'd be getting are bug fixes at this point. My only beef with Bohemia is for a team of supposedly 80+ people, they are sure taking their sweet time in doing those things. This doesn't want to make me revolt along the lines stated by Weyland, however. I am also disappointed that 1.0 was released feature incomplete, but even in its current state, no other game can get my heart beating as DayZ encounters sometimes can. As the "re-addening" continues, those encounters should only get better, so I see no reason to set our hair on fire just yet.

So why are you still here then? Go play something else and stop being such a troll, posting lack of development on the very day that we've made some progress and throwing is now back in the game as are grenades. You've claimed to speak for thousands -- I say you speak mostly just for yourself. Most of us on here do still enjoy the game, even with all its faults and deficiencies. I don't feel ripped off in the least -- I'm disappointed it was released missing features that were present in .62, but they are still working on it and as long as they are, I look forward to the game getting better and better. Having said that, I'll be right there with you if new features don't continue being added and they suddenly announce "that's it, no more new stuff, this patch is the last patch ever." At that point, if all features haven't been READDED as you say, then yes, I will feel ripped off. Until then, I'm not going to lose my shit like you apparently have. You don't enjoy it -- fair enough, but life's too short Weyland, just play something else in that case. Please.

Seems like you're complaining about consoles to me. What difference does it make what the hours are on PC servers? I'm suggesting you post this in the console section because if you're wanting more daylight hours on console servers, that would be the place to ask for it, not here.
-
I suggest posting this in the right section if you want an answer -- this is the PC section.
-
Just to clarify -- in this reply, you didn't mention your /My Documents/DayZ folder -- did you delete that? There's profile info in that folder similar to the one being talked about in that Arma 3 link. I don't remember if that folder gets removed when you uninstall the game, so you should delete it just in case it has been there from your original install. You should also delete the Local folders as well as they will get regenerated on the next startup.
-
Yeah, I would say it looks like that folder doesn't have update/write permissions set -- send that log to your host so that they can fix it.

I didn't think it picked its loot from anywhere else, but it might have changed since I last messed with servers. You could also try increasing the values for both the nominal amounts of Tier 4 loot as well as the number of min/max loot that spawns at helis to see if guns show up. I assume that you are getting loot at the helis, just not guns, right? If so, make a list of all the Tier 4 loot in your types.xml and make adjustments (i.e. increase nominal gun loot and decrease nominal other Tier 4 loot).
-
I believe anything listed in the types.xml as Tier 4 military loot is eligible to spawn at helis, so I would start by checking that.
-
This is from Arma 3, but is a similar issue: https://feedback.bistudio.com/T123534 Delete your /My Documents/DayZ folder and your /{username}/AppData/Roaming/DayZ folder, then restart your computer and then try the game. This will delete your keybinds, so you'll have to set those up again.

I think he's supposed to stand up and I'm supposed to take a seat, if I read his obnoxiousness correctly. 😋

Nowadays, as far as I know, heli crash spawns have nothing to do with persistence -- they are event spawns and occur regardless of valid persistence files or not. Basically, every server is one crash away from being a potential non-persistent server unless some backup plan is in place. I think as well there are still some server owners that use the forced /F switch when killing the process, which in and of itself, can corrupt the persistence files.
-
😋 True dat.
-
Technically, they are not zombies because they never died. The premise behind DayZ is that a mysterious plague has infected most of the humans and made them irrational and violent. For whatever reason, you and your fellow players are immune to that plague and have not become infected. As for adding more wolves or a server with wolves only, I'd rather see more wild animals in the game, like bears and foxes for example.

Yes, but unless the CLE has completely been changed recently, it is still supposed to make sure that the nominal amount of each item is present in the world, is it not? If the early birds looted the good guns in Tisy, the CLE should eventually be spawning some type of replacement gun loot there. @Thundermight is claiming there isn't even a pistol present. That doesn't seem right to me -- who knows, maybe they're testing things on some servers and haven't told us about it.

Dear Dev-Team, can we get some ANSWERS regarding the FUTURE of our beloved GAME?
drgullen replied to 0.64 Freerider's topic in General Discussion
Just out of curiosity, which employees from Bohemia would we find on this "official" Discord server? Are we actually able to speak to someone on the development team and ask them questions or is it just a verbal version of this forum? -
This is the PC section, so I assume you're on PC? If so, you should log a ticket on the BI bug tracker so they are aware -- make sure you include the names of the servers you were on. It is possible that Tisy was looted just prior to your arrival each time, but if you've done it 3 times and no guns whatsoever, then that's sounds like an issue with those servers.
-
I doubt you'll see something like this in the official game, but I bet it gets modded in at some point.
-
There's a difference between server restarts and server crashes. A restart is a scheduled, graceful shutdown of the server exe and persistence stuff, including cars, should not be disappearing in those cases. A server crash is an unscheduled termination of the server exe which can sometimes cause the persistence files to become corrupted, in which case, they are ignored when the server starts next time, which would explain everything disappearing. It sounds like this server is crashing a lot to me. If you're seeing the red "No message received after x amount of seconds" message, that's a crash and not a graceful shutdown, which would explain it.
-
Spray painting hasn't been in the game since the switch to the new engine on .63 although some community servers have modded it in, I believe.
-
I don't know how the servers work on consoles, but on PC, buried loot is dependent on having valid persistence files. I was running a server for a bit and I had buried some treasure when my server first went up and was giving clues to where it was in the server messages. A month later, nobody had found it yet and I checked and it was still there. In my case, I was backing up the persistence files regularly and restoring them if any server crash occurred. So, if it works the same on consoles, the result should also be the same -- buried loot should stay buried as long as the persistence remains intact and the server doesn't crash a lot or get wiped due to an update. That is, of course, unless somebody finds the loot and digs it up.

Zombies do not play a big enough zole in a Zombie GAME or DayZ...
drgullen replied to Box of Demons's topic in Suggestions
The only problem with that idea is that the gun will get bugged in their hands, so they'll have to relog and then we'll have an infected-free world. 😋 -
I'm not trying to push anything on you at all -- just pointing out that issue isn't going to happen on a community server. I can think of two vanilla community servers off the top of my head that are usually pretty populated -- TheRunningManZ and The Village. I believe they allow base building as well. Hopefully, Bohemia will at some point come up with a solution so that the issue goes away on official. EDIT: I hit submit before I saw @BetterDeadThanZed post his server, so yeah, perhaps his server might work for you as well.
-
In the cfgeventspawns.xml, you will see them defined in sections, like "InfectedVillage" and "InfectedIndustrial" etc. If you switch the active parameter for those from 1 to 0, they won't spawn in those types of areas.
-
I don't get why you would want to build your base on an official server. Those can get wiped at any time with no notice. Wouldn't it be better to build on a community server? Many of them are "basebuilder friendly" so to speak in that they try to wipe as infrequently as possible and since they are individual servers and not hived like on official, the hopping issue isn't a problem. Find a good community server doing regular persistence backups and build it there, would be my advice.

Differences between PC and Consoles versions
drgullen replied to Mikaxo's topic in General Discussion
A lot of it is luck of the spawn, @Mikaxo You might spawn somewhere that have some players in the general vicinity and you'll be getting into action in no time at all -- sometimes even too soon, because they're geared and you're not. Other times, I've spawned in and gone an entire session of wandering the map and encountering absolutely nobody. That's rare, especially on a full server, but it does happen because it's a big map. DayZ is definitely not PUBG or CoD or the like. You need patience to play DayZ, but you can go from absolutely nothing going on to encountering one or more players in a heartbeat -- the thrill of deciding what to do in that situation (approach guns out, approach guns away, take cover and scout them out, etc.) is what's fun about DayZ -- you get to decide what happens next. If you're in a period of not encountering anyone, give yourself a side quest to do. Find a hospital and loot some medicine in case you pick up a germ somewhere. Search for a heli crash to see what Tier 4 loot it might have. Hunt an animal and then figure out how to craft a fireplace to cook the meat for a reserve supply of food. Head to the coast and swim to Skalisty and/or Prison Islands to check those out. Of course, if you're desperate for action, there's always the option of playing for a while on one of the PvP servers people have put up.
