    Assault rifles on official servers

It is? Since when? I haven't done the swim myself in a while, but last time I was there, there were military barrack buildings on the Prison Island, which is considered a Tier 3 location, is it not? Are those barracks no longer there?

    Car Dynamics (spawning, glitching, etc.)

In fact, here's some visual proof regarding the "does it despawn if something in it is ruined but the car itself is not ruined". I was watching TheRunningManZ today and he crashed a Gunter going too fast under a bridge (tsk tsk Paul). 😋 https://player.twitch.tv/?volume=0.75&video=v450769599 If you start at the 03:57:00 mark of that video, you'll see the crash. You'll notice when he looks at the dash after crashing, the Gunter itself is still green and not red, but when he pops the hood, he sees the radiator is the thing that is ruined. He takes the spark plug out so that nobody will steal it, but leaves the ruined radiator in place and then he and his passengers head off in search of a new radiator. He does find a new one and if you jump to the 04:15:00 mark, you'll see them returning to the crash site to find it now lacking in quantity of one Gunter. So yeah, if you crash and only something on the car is ruined, take it out/off the car and discard it somewhere if you want the car to still be there when you get back.

    Assault rifles on official servers

I don't know, perhaps there is an issue with the current patch regarding ARs, but this is not how the loot economy works. If a player(s) loots all the M4s for example, that doesn't mean M4s will no longer spawn. Each item has a "nominal" value associated with it, along with a "min (minimum)" value relating to how many should be present in loot spots around the map. These values are not related to how many are present in player inventories. If the CE checks and sees Lootable M4s = 0, it should be prioritizing this to the top of the list of things to spawn. The issue could be that other weapons also are equal to zero (or below their min values) and are taking priority over the M4. If there are none there currently, there should eventually be the min amount of them present, regardless of how many of them have been looted. As an aside, did you also swim to either of the islands? There is some good loot over there usually as most people don't bother swimming across anymore, I don't believe.
  4. Did you try deleting the My Documents\DayZ folder to allow the system to create a new one? That sometimes fixes graphical/FPS issues.

    Car Dynamics (spawning, glitching, etc.)

I like it, but I think you'd still end up removing something (like the spark plug and/or radiator) from the car as a deterrent from theft because with this system in place, anyone with a lock pick can drive away with the car. The same idea, but being able to lock the door with a combination lock perhaps would be better. The cars could spawn with the combo lock built into the driver door with no code set (i.e. door unlocked). You set a code to lock the door and from then on, entering that code toggles the lock/unlock.

^^ THIS! I'd like to see them implement a "cleaning" system similar to how it works with guns. The cars definitely are too delicate, but even toughened up, they will eventually get ruined and should do if you lose control at high speed for example and smack into the side of a house or something. In the case of a few bumps along the way, it'd be nice having the "PRISTINE/WORN/DAMAGED/BADLY DAMAGED" statuses and be able to loot some type of repair kit that maybe works only once per use, but puts the car back up to WORN.
  7. In the server XML files, you can define what spawns where and there is a section that defines what percentage loot might spawn on the infected. What I did was simply delete that section, telling the server that infected aren't eligible to spawn loot and what I ended up with was the same number of infected present, but none of them had any loot on them. You don't have to go to this extreme if you don't want to. You can just lower the percentage chance to something very low like 0.10 maybe which would make finding loot on infected very rare.
  8. Well, the first thing that jumps out at me is that you have Steam installed under Program Files (x86) which is normally where 32-bit programs get installed. The Steam client is a 32-bit process, but DayZ should be running as a 64-bit process. Windows might be having a cow over this, man. The other thing is how many versions of Steam do you have installed? On one post, it says "Application Path: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ\DayZ_x64.exe" and on the next, it says "Faulting Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ\DayZ_x64.exe". Why do you have Steam and DayZ installed twice, one on C drive and one on D drive? Also, you should never install anything under the default of "Program Files" as those folders are protected by various securities within Windows and can sometimes cause ball aches. I would strongly suggest reinstalling Steam only once to just D:\Steam -- first, make a backup copy of your \Steam\steamapps\common folder so you don't lose your games and then uninstall Steam, reboot the computer and then reinstall Steam to D:\Steam, then copy back all the games you backed up to the new location, which would be D:\Steam\steamapps\common, then reboot the computer again and then start Steam. It will want you to "Install" the games again, but it will scan that folder first and only download anything new, so DayZ should be at 100% pretty quickly. I don't know if this will fix it for you, but it might have something to do with it.

    Car Dynamics (spawning, glitching, etc.)

See, this is interesting because some of what IMT said contradicts what I thought regarding cars. My understand is that on a server start/restart, cars that have not been touched (i.e. they are still sitting where they were when they first spawned) will automatically despawn after its lifetime value is reached -- a value that can be changed by the server administrator. Since there are normally more car spawn points then there are spawned cars, one that spawned at X spawn position prior to the restart may not still be there after the restart as the server has now placed that car at some other car spawn point. Once you drive a car even as little as a meter, it then becomes part of the persistence system, so parking one inside of a structure and then having it disappear is most likely related to having some or all parts of the persistence files corrupted due to a server crash. So, saying that cars will "drop into place" is not quite correct -- they should definitely remain parked, but if there was an issue with persistence, they might not reappear after a server crash. Any ungraceful termination of the server exe could cause the cars (among other persistence-related items) to despawn once the server comes back up. As for the gone if ruined issue, I think IMT is correct -- they're only supposed to despawn if the car itself is ruined, but I have also seen evidence to the contrary -- it seems ruined attachments also causes the car to vanish, at least in some circumstances.
  10. I have to say I agree with the comments here. "Survivor GameZ" should really have been the end-game celebration of a completely finished DayZ -- a DayZ that includes all the things that are still missing, like vaulting, like broken bones, like a bow and arrow, not to mention all the remaining guns and vehicles still absent. If you read between the lines of that tweet, this is going to be an attempt to milk some more cash out of DayZ -- sure, it's free for now, but it will undoubtedly be something you'll have to purchase down the road, either as DLC or as its own game. It's like getting three-quarters of the way through a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle and then saying screw it and starting to work on a 500-piece puzzle instead. I'll gladly pay money for "Survivor GameZ" but give us a finished DayZ first ffs!
  11. Agreed. I was running a server for a while where I had disabled infected loot altogether. This can be tweaked by the server administrators, but I doubt if Bohemia will ever tweak it. There are many community servers that have implemented more "hard core" type measures and some of them include reduced or eliminated loot on the infected -- I suggest searching for and playing on one of them.
  12. Have you checked/Do you know how to check your Event Viewer logs? I would be curious to see if Windows is logging something as the RAM is spooling up. In case you don't know where they are, if you right-click on your Start button in Windows 10, you should see an options list pop up and one of them should be Event Viewer. Click that one and in the window that opens, expand the Windows Logs folder and then check in each log around the time this last occurred (or maybe make it happen again and then check the most recent logs entries). Look for Warning or Error level messages around the time that this happened. This may yield no help at all, but worth a look in case Windows is logging something about it.
  13. Wow, are you paying attention to this Bohemia? You should hire this dude immediately! Excellent thread @Asmondian

    Newbie needs help

If I were you, consider not shooting so quickly and find someone to interact with. Sure, a lot of people play KOS-style, but not everyone. Find the right person, swallow your pride a bit and admit to being a noob and you might find a friend that will show you the ropes. The wiki idea from aux7 is a good too, but back in the day when I was a fresh freshie, meeting more experienced, friendly people was how I learned the basics.
  15. Yes, that's exactly what happens -- some people play without the health indicators on their screen, so this is an audible clue that your character's health needs attention. I tried to watch your video, but all I got from the browser was "Processing Video" for over a minute, so I gave up. There are indeed buildings in the world that have no loot in them whatsoever and the amount of loot present overall varies depending on what server you're playing on (i.e. a Vanilla server, a modded server, etc.) As a new spawn, your first order of business should be finding food and water. Many of the cities have wells that you can drink from. Certain trees will have apples and other fruit beneath them that will also give you hydration. If you absolutely must, you can drink water from a pond, but this will most likely give you an illness, so you'll then have to loot medical supplies at a hospital or other medical facility. Depending on the server, the infected have loot on them as well, so killing as many of them as you can as a new spawn might also give you food. DayZ is not PUBG -- you're not supposed to be fully geared, hydrated and healthy in the first few minutes. It's the apocalypse -- loot is supposed to be scarce and in some locations, non-existent because it's already been looted by someone else. Try again, but start by getting both your "bottle" and your "apple" health indicators (i.e. your water and food) up to full white on both. Only then, start worrying about looting for other things. If you're unfamiliar with the map, use a site like iZurvive to help you. Find a road in game, then find the town name on that road -- then look at the iZurvive map to figure out where you are in the world. That map can help you locate other things as well, like apple trees and the nearest well if you're dehydrated, for example.

    helicopter

Definitely, not probably. This is exactly why we are where we are right now. Everything has to be recoded for the new engine, which continues even today. I still think we'll get helicopters at some point down the road, but I'd rather have a bike and a boat first, if I'm honest. A heli would be cool, but more ways to travel the map in different ways would be better. So, bike first, then a boat and then a heli would be my preference.

    "Out of memory" problem

Damn it, I can only imagine how frustrated you must be right now -- it's not even my computer and this issue is driving me nuts! 😋 There is a reference to Shadow Play which is part of GeForce Experience I believe in this thread: https://www.roleplay.co.uk/topic/51680-arma-is-unstable/ Again, that was for Arma 3, but may still apply. In that thread, someone eludes to excessive hooks into DirectX possibly being part of the issue. Have you tried uninstalling your Nvidia completely and then reinstalling the drivers only (i.e. no GeForce Experience)?

    "Out of memory" problem

Found this on an Arma 3 ticket by doing a little giggling... Hi, Here is possible solution that could resolve your problem: 0x00000001 – UNABLE_TO_INIT_DXGI The game is unable to initialize a graphical subsystem. Possible solutions: Update the graphics card drivers to a newer version. Rollback the graphics card drivers to an older version. Check the temperature of your GPUs and CPUs. Disable the Steam Overlay. I'm assuming since you've reinstalled the OS that you are using the latest graphics driver, so do you recall the last version of your graphics drivers that the game worked with? You could perhaps roll back to that version and try?

    Anti Ghosting/Server Hopping Measures

There's only one way to fix it properly -- eliminate the hive system and make every server a single server. Umm, because I thought that was the point of having hived servers -- you could switch between them and not lose your shit or your position on the map -- guess I missed the memo on this "mind set". So, I'll say it again, if this is the mindset we're supposed to be playing with, why even have hives then? Just get rid of them and the only issue left to tackle will be loot cycling.

    Question to "profiles" folder

I believe that folder gets created when you first start the server, so I take it you haven't download it/started it yet?

    Anti Ghosting/Server Hopping Measures

I don't appreciate you implicating me in this way -- I've been playing DayZ for years and I have never done what you described here -- not even once. The point is changing servers isn't always about something to do with cheating. The server is down right now and hasn't come back up. The server is full, has a massive queue and I only have a short time to play. The server has just started its night cycle and I played in night yesterday and want to continue where I left off, but in daytime this session. Those are three examples right there where this "back on the coast" mechanic would have nothing to do with trying to screw over a base or hopping for loot.
  23. drgullen

    Anti Ghosting/Server Hopping Measures

You're missing the point. Sure, I can get to Tisy from the coast in less than 2 hours -- the point is after looting Tisy, I want to continue exploring/looting other areas FROM TISY and not start over on the coast again. With this new system in place, it's a roll of the dice basically every single second. At any time, the server might go down and if it doesn't come back up, I'm forced to switch to another server to continue playing and it's bye-bye wherever I was before. Another example is logging out somewhere for the night, but the next day when I want to continue, that server has a massive queue, yet another one that also has good ping for me is only Medium pop and has no queue, but again, if I join that one, I ain't gonna be where I was before, am I? I'm sorry, but trying to persuade people to stay on a specific server is not a good solution to this issue.

    "Out of memory" problem

I don't know what else to suggest at this point in terms of fixing this issue. Earlier in the thread, you said the "DayZ Experimental" client was working. Is that still the case? Some people have upgraded their community servers to the latest exp patch, so maybe you can use IP:port and just play using the Exp client for now?
  25. drgullen

    Anti Ghosting/Server Hopping Measures

So, you're okay with this? We are being forced to stay on a server even if we don't want to because if we change servers, we'll spawn somewhere else. You're seriously okay with that? I'm definitely not. What if you don't like or don't feel like playing in the dark? What if you don't like or don't feel like playing in the rain? What if this particular server is currently full of shooters instead of talkers/explorers and every attempt at a friendly encounter has resulted in being blown away despite having no gun in your hand and having your hand raised saying hello? There's all kinds of reasons why you might legitimately want to change servers, but not current location. Most people don't like playing in the dark and they shouldn't be forced to do so, otherwise, they are sent to the corner like it's the timeout chair in kindergarten. If I've been playing for hours and have looted my way to the NWAF for example and I'm geared and ready for action and it is turning nighttime, I'd rather switch to a daytime server at that point and have a battle that I can actually see. This prevents me from doing that because I'll log in on the other server miles away from where I was and as @emuthreat said, probably spawn in, get killed almost immediately by a "server hopper spawn point camper" and lose all my loot.
