How exactly rare are NVGs now?

    @justice5150 <type name="NVGoggles"> <nominal>5</nominal> <lifetime>28800</lifetime> <restock>0</restock> <min>3</min> <quantmin>-1</quantmin> <quantmax>-1</quantmax> <cost>100</cost> <flags count_in_cargo="0" count_in_hoarder="0" count_in_map="1" count_in_player="1" crafted="0" deloot="1"/> <category name="weapons"/> <usage name="Military"/> </type> So, what that says is there will be a minimum of 3 of them in the map, but nominally, 5 of them.

Blue vs. Red: Swans Island PVP | NA East

Since vehicles in 1.15 are still misbehaving a lot of the time, I have gone in a different direction with this server, so the OP has been modified.
  3. Blue vs. Red: Swans Island PVP | NA East 199.231.185.154:2802 Discord: https://discord.gg/pVqPMmK3fP When you first emerge on the map, you'll find yourself on either the Blue team or the Red team as identified by your armband. It is up to you how you proceed, however. If you encounter a player with the same color armband, you can do one of three things: You can ignore them and move on. You can talk to them and potentially team up. You can also kill them if you want. The idea though, like the title suggests, is that it's the Blue team versus the Red team, so you will not get credit for any "friendly fire" kills. If you're on the Blue team, kill the Red team players and vice versa. You'll find a consumables vendor in North Haven. Head there when you first spawn to get what you want for your energy, hydration and medical requirements. You will spawn with one random weapon and ammo on you, but there's guns-a-plenty spread across the map. There will also be regular air drops, delivering a variety of things, including weapons that sometimes will be one Gauss rifle. The air drop will deliver only the rifle itself, you'll have to loot to find the ammo and attachments for it. If you get killed and respawn, you may wind up on the opposite team that you were just on. The server operates on a 24-hour cycle that constitutes a single day (starting and ending at 4:00am ET). The server restarts every 4 hours (4:00am, 8:00am, Noon, 4:00pm, 8:00pm and Midnight -- all times Eastern). On that 4:00am restart however, a new server "day" begins. The kill stats for the previous day are saved and then the server is completely wiped, excluding any active players. Server time and weather conditions are shuffled every day, so even though you might be playing at the same time each day, the conditions on the server will never be the same from day to day. For daytime on the server, the clock ticks in real time. From server sundown to sunup however, time is accelerated at a 6x rate, so a full night lasts less than 2 hours. Information related to Individual Player Stats and Monthly Leaders can be found on our Discord server (see invite link above). It's a bunch of people with weapons on a small map. Sounds like a good time to me! See you on Swans Island! NOTES ABOUT THIS SERVER Physical Location: North America East 30-slot 1PP server HIT DIRECTION INDICATOR DISABLED! The server has dynamically-generated init.c files, resulting in different spawns, weather and server times every day There are 3 traders on the map -- you must seek them out to buy and sell goods from them The elevated price of the Gauss rifle is intentional as it will appear randomly in certain air drops, so they can be sold, but not intended to be purchased at the weapons vendor MODS USED ON THIS SERVER Airdrop-Upgraded (used to deliver air supplies across the map) DabsFramework (a requirement for the Gauss Rifle) GRW ER7 Gauss Rifle (a powerful rifle that will occasionally be delivered to the area by air supply drops -- its accessories must be looted) Intenz-Leaderboard (used to collect JSON data for player information related to kills and deaths) KillFeed (used to announce player kills on screen) OFG_Money_Euro (adds the Euro as main currency on the server) SkyZ - Skybox Overhaul (an updated sky environment) SwansIsland (the map itself) Trader (used to position vendors throughout the map that the players must find, offering various goods to buy from or sell to) THE ONLY RULE ON THE SERVER Avoid friendly-fire kills. They are not counted for leaderboard purposes and if you're caught killing your "armband brothers and sisters" excessively, you will be banned from the server. The point of the PVP on this server is for one "team" to conquer the other. Blue team versus Red team. So, if your armband is blue, you're on the Blue team, so loot up and kill as many players with red armbands on as you can. The same goes the other way around -- if your armband is red, you're trying to take down as many blue armbands as possible. BLUE VS. RED: SWANS ISLAND PVP SERVER Filter on "Blue vs. Red" or by choosing SwansIsland as the map to find the server IP:Port info is: 199.231.185.154:2802 Discord: https://discord.gg/pVqPMmK3fP See you on the island!
  4. @gigiwwa You are missing a minus sign in front of the word profiles @etwas It doesn't matter what you call it in the template as long as the folder has the same name. You could put cookie.monster here and it would work if there was a cookie.monster folder under mpmissions.
  5. @gigiwwa In your launch parameters, you have this: "profiles=X:\STM\steamapps\common\DayZServer" "-profiles=config" Neither of those is correct. What you want here is a folder somewhere other than where DayZ is installed for the log files and other folders to go. Mine looks like this: "-profiles=C:\DayZServer\" For me, DayZ Server itself is installed under C:\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZServer, so the folder I have there for my profile is completely separate. Try it like that. The only other thing I'd suggest is to not force kill the exe with the /F switch because you can screw up some of your persistence files doing that. Remove the /F and let DayZServer_x64.exe shut down gracefully. It might take 5-15 seconds longer, but it's worth it.

    DayZ | 50 QoL suggestions | Part 3

@kevo1414I am about to put up a Banov server and vehicles with be ready to roll from the start -- announcement soon in the Server Ad section (as soon as the damn company I paid to provide the server actually builds it - they said 1-3 hours, but it's lookin' more like 1-3 days at this point lol)

    DayZ | 50 QoL suggestions | Part 3

Bohemia, hire this man already! This is probably the most positive and constructive post on the entire forum! Well done @Asmondian
  8. I've had a couple of DayZ servers on VPS, they just aren't powerful enough IMO. If you start to get anywhere near slot capacity, the DayZ server takes a massive shit and performance tanks, cars start flying around, players are skirting all over the place. I get you on cost, this was the reason I dropped mine as not enough players were playing on it, but for a quality experience, it needs to be a dedicated server. I'm actually looking now for a dedicated server hoster in NA as I'm thinking about putting up a Banov server.
  9. Depending on what map you're planning to use, it'd probably run one server pretty well. Two at capacity though and you'll see a lot of desync, unstable cars, etc. If I may be so bold to ask, why do you need two servers? I'm assuming you're about to put up a new community server, right? Why not just 1x60 in that case?

    DayZ

Do you seriously want this? I mean really? Seriously? The game would be ridiculously tedious if the infected always killed you. I mean, "open the window and chuck the entire PC out and hopefully it lands on that noisy neighbor downstairs heh heh" tedious. They are fine as they are. They cause you damage, they ruin your clothes, they make you bleed, they knock you out. If you're not careful when you regain consciousness and trigger them again, they actually will kill you. If they killed you every time you encountered a cluster of them though, I'd never play this game again -- that shit gets annoying real quick.

    Cannibalism rework.

I'm with @Parazight on this one, but perhaps with a bit of a compromise -- have the person laugh once just so you know you've got it. I agree about the nutritional value -- eating human meat should give you next to no energy at all and if you continue eating it for too long, you should just start barfing it all up. There's absolutely no reason to do this though other than if you want to call yourself a cannibal. I've been playing this game since 2015 and I have never, not even once, eaten human meat because I was starving to death. Have I starved to death? Yes, but that's just part of the game. Sometimes when I play Madden, I lose the game. Most times when I play PUBG, I don't get a chicken dinner. Sometimes when I play DayZ, I starve to death. It's part of the game.

    Building Vehicles.

@Thewhitefox12 I have never played DayZ on console, but I believe it works similarly to PC. The outer parts actually aren't as important. You should be able to get the vehicle running without doors or a hood and even missing one wheel. They key parts to loot are the spark plug, the battery and the radiator. Depending on the RNG, some cars may already have all these things, some may have none of them. To see those things, approach the front of the vehicle (the hood area) and open your inventory. Under the "In The Vicinity" area you should see the car inventory. If only your inventory is being displayed, it is likely one of the static wrecked cars that you cannot drive. The other two things to remember are you need to fill the radiator with a lot of water, otherwise the engine will seize shortly after you start driving. If the engine is smoking, stop and turn it off otherwise the car will be ruined. You will have little to no fuel in the vehicle when you first find it, so try to loot a Jerry can so you can add gas as well.
  13. For me, this is one of the best things about the game. Every interaction is different. Some will say they're friendly and will be -- others are out to lie to you, lure you in as "friends" and then stab you in the back as soon as the time is right -- others still are just in it to shoot whomever they want whenever they want. Why, it's almost like real life!
  14. My favorite part was watching you eat the apple. That was epic. 😜

    Storage_1 files damaged

How things are started isn't the issue, I'm talking about how DayZServer_x64.exe is terminated. If it's being force terminated, the storage files can sometimes get corrupted if they were being written to when the exe stopped working.

    Storage_1 files damaged

Are you killing the server exe with the /F switch? If so, stop doing that...remove that switch and let the server shut down completely.

    Sleep

It's an interesting idea, but who would ever actually play like this? I suppose if you're going to make dinner or something like that, you could put the character to sleep, but I feel like at that point, you're taking up a server slot unnecessarily when you're not actually playing the game. As an alternative, this idea could perhaps be tied to logging out. Instead of a normal logout where your character remains on the server for 15 seconds and then vanishes, you could "sleep exit" where the character lays down, your client session ends, but your character remains on the server say for 1 hour. During that hour, you are locked out of that server because that slot is no longer available to you, freeing it up for someone else. Your character is still there though -- "sleeping". You'd still be consuming a minimal amount of hydration and energy during this time too, so you'd have to make sure you're good on food and water before going nighty-night, otherwise, dying in your sleep would be a possibility. You would be vulnerable to be killed and/or looted if someone found you wherever you are though. If your character makes it through the hour, at that point, it vanishes and unlocks, allowing you to play on that server again. Also, like you say, surviving this could yield big health benefits, like a 50% health gain maybe or curing your cold if you have one. It's a good idea, so long as it's not taking up a slot for others to play while you're character is asleep. It could be a good option if you've been playing for hours, have good gear but have been in a few firefights and are injured -- you could finish your play that day by going to sleep for the night. When you play next time, if your character wasn't killed during the hour you were sleeping, you should be in much better health for the next play session.
  18. @Kyiara Hopefully, this suggestion wouldn't be too difficult to implement, but I've never understood why my character's ability to hold their breath was directly related to how much or how little weight I was carrying. It doesn't really make any sense, because for the most part, the only reason anyone will hold their breath is while they're aiming to take a shot or zooming in on a target with a scope or binoculars. As an example, let's say I'm currently covered in a building and there's a guy in another building across the street shooting at me. I am crouched near the window and basically not moving other than to peek now and then to try to zero him in my scope's crosshair and take a shot. In this scenario, it shouldn't matter whether I'm completely naked or looted to the teeth with maximum weight. I'm essentially standing still, so I should be able to hold my breath for a long time, assuming my health is good. So, my suggestion is to change the breath-holding mechanic from being tied to stamina to being tied to your health level instead, perhaps something like this: Full White Health = can hold breath for 60 seconds Partial White Health = can hold breath for 45 seconds Yellow Health = can hold breath for 30 seconds Red Health = can hold breath for 15 seconds Flashing Red Health = can hold breath for 5 seconds Think of the possibilities with this in place. If I'm healthy, I can sit there aimed on target for up to 60 seconds, waiting for the player to peek so I can take a shot. On the flip side, think of the anxiety and desperation the player will feel if they're flashing red health and have only 5 seconds to get off a good shot. I think it would create some interesting game play and to me, makes more sense than tying it to the stamina bar.

    Disney/Marvel define zombies.

You're right, they are. Let's face it, Disney/Marvel couldn't hit the water if they fell out of the boat.

    1.14 Experimental Release

This happens with most patches. This is why they have an Experimental branch. They will work out the performance kinks with the new additions and then send it to Stable.

    Server FPS and CPU Usage

I actually don't have a server anymore. I also had a VPS, but DayZ really requires a dedicated machine and I just wasn't getting enough players playing on my server to justify the cost so I got rid of it. I did not have this globalqueue parameter you have, so maybe try it without that. I also minimized the logging by removing the -dologs and -netlog parameters. For -profiles, I actually created a directory for that, so mine looked like this: -profiles=C:\DayZServer\ I was running a Namalsk server on a VPS with only a couple of mods and even then, my server's performance got poor once 30+ people were on (although that only happened once the whole time I had the server -- most times, I had 10 or fewer people on). If you want a server with 40+ people, you need a dedicated box for decent performance and not a VPS.

    Server FPS and CPU Usage

Well, I wouldn't call that 100% based on that picture. It certainly is the core being used the most, but if it was 100% CPU usage, that graph line would be straight across the top. Use Resource Monitor to see what is going on with that CPU. The question is what about the game performance? Is any better running it like this?

    Server FPS and CPU Usage

@Cortex 0947 Try starting it with an affinity mask, like this: start "" /affinity 0xFE "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZServer\DayZServer_x64.exe" Starting it that way will have the server running on 7 cores (all except Core 0). I do it this way because most of the Windows-related processes running in the background will heavily use Core 0 in a lot of cases, so not using that core for your server can actually increase performance (i.e. should reduce CPU lag related to Windows doing something).
