Timings for things like this are defined in the DayZServer globals.xml file -- check there.

If Livonia is the big announcement next week...
drgullen replied to rekkless's topic in General Discussion
Livonia -- with bears. Let's hope this means we'll have some bears roaming Chernarus soon. -
...if you like glitchy, laggy sex where, ahem, things get "bugged" in your hands. 😋

DayZ Dedicated Server - Wine Support + Binding To Specific IP
drgullen replied to k2nod's topic in Servers
The server exe definitely needs more than 2GB of RAM just to start up properly. I was running a server earlier this year in a Windows VPS environment, meaning I had full access to my server and even with nobody logged onto it, DayZServer_x64.exe consumed more than 2GB of RAM, so if that's your limit on Wine, you are SOL. -
I'm sorry, but if they work on cross play before working on other things that were supposed to be in the game, like bows and arrows, like broken bones, like other methods of transportation, I think a lot of us long-timers on PC will be pissed. I certainly will be. The reality is here we are at the fifth patch since the game was released and there is still so much missing. I would rather have the missing pieces put back in and THEN we can discuss the possibility of cross play. We need to finish dinner before eating the dessert. As I stated earlier in the thread though, don't hold your breath as I seriously doubt they will ever get around to making this a thing.

It's never going to happen. If you want to play with your friends on XBox, get an XBox.

In your search box in the lower-left, type the word event and then click on Event Viewer in the results. In the window that opens after that, expand the section on the left called Windows Logs. You show see several categories -- look in the Application and System logs around the crash time to see if Windows is logging anything about it. If you can't remember when it happened last exactly, play the game first and note the time on your PC when DayZ crashes so you can go to that time in the logs.

Have you checked in the Windows Event Viewer for any entries in the Application or System logs in there? It might yield a clue as to the cause of the crash.

Ideas and fixes for smoother gaming experience

OFFICIAL 1.06 PREVIEW PHOTO 😋 -
Well, for starters, you could post this in the right forum. This is the PC section. Here you go: https://forums.dayz.com/forum/173-troubleshooting/

In your first post, you referenced the version number as 1.4.152.166 -- are you seeing this number exactly like that on your screen? I ask because there has never been a version number listed like that -- it would be 1.04.152166 (one extra zero and one less decimal point). You say if you play vanilla, it works and says 1.05, so my guess is one of your mods has a messed up version number that is confusing the game somehow. In any case, 1.4.152.166 is not a valid DayZ version, so if that's what you're actually seeing on the screen, that would explain it.

There are tons of threads on this forum relating to things despawning. So yes, lots with the same issue.

This thread has given me anxiety.

Target engaged...kachung, kachung, kachung, kachung ... {stop and take a quick dump} ... kachung, kachung, kachung... 😋

I think there would be too many clipping issues to implement this properly -- you'd wind up glitched into and stuck in the tree most likely. To do it properly, they'd have to either redesign existing trees or add a new type of tree that you can climb. I don't see it happening with their current trend of winding down development. It would be a good idea for a mod at some point, though.

I basically agree with everything you've said here @ThePugman but here we are, approaching one year since official release, and the inventory slots are still so far out of whack that I personally don't think Bohemia are going to change them this drastically at this stage of the game. This would make a great mod though -- "Real Inventories" -- as I would also like to see "pockets" as you've said, a cooking pot fits in a backpack, not in clothing. The backpack in hands idea is logical, but I feel most would find it becoming tedious quickly. At the end of the day, it is a game where you have departures from realism in many areas, like the ability to plant, grow and eat vegetables basically on the same day, for example.

How to reduce the time before entering the server?
drgullen replied to VladislavFaddeevich's topic in Servers
It's the queue time parameter in the globals.xml file -- change it from 15 to whatever you want. I wouldn't go below 5 though as you could encounter the "character locked in database" issue. -
I like the blood levels where they are now -- having to duck for cover and heal during a shootout creates some great tension whereas you could bleed for a while in previous patches without having to worry about it right away. I like the "rags heals 1 cut at a time, bandages 2 cuts at a time" idea -- that would do it, making bandages more loot-worthy and causing the player to prepare more before a battle. If you have only rags and end up bleeding with 4+ cuts, well, you're probably going to die there, son. You could always carry some of your own blood on you as well to top you up a bit while trying to apply rags/bandages with multiple cuts.

Agreed -- kind of like when that first night vision scope showed up -- don't think they listed that either. How much do you want to bet that the first iteration of bears can walk right through a bear trap without it trapping them? 😜

Why not store them inside of a tent, trunk of a car, bury them in a chest, places like that? I did that at one camp I set up in the woods outside of Dubrovka. I had two tents, one with all my regular loot and the other with nothing but firewood. I went through several axes to do it, but at one point, I had about 60 pieces of firewood in there. Of course, someone can easily come along and steal it, but placing the firewood inside of anything that has inventory slots should keep it in persistence.

I typically drink water until I first see the stomach icon appear and then I stop immediately. If you do it that way, you should be good and the icon will disappear shortly. As @Parazight says, you'll blow chunks if you keep going at that point. In terms of hydration, most people don't drink enough water though (both in game and IRL I suppose lol). Even though the bottle icon has turned white, you are far from fully hydrated. As a new character, I will find a well, drink till I see the stomach icon, then loot the surrounding area and come back and drink some more. Rinse and repeat until the bottle icon no longer shows an up arrow when I drink -- this indicates full hydration. I'm not sure if it's the same for eating though -- I've never seen the food icon show no up arrow when I eat, so I don't think there's a "fully energized" condition anymore like we had in .62 and prior.

ADA right side doors went missing from the game
drgullen replied to Kent Gissing's topic in Troubleshooting
They are located within the storage_1 folder which is within the mission folder. I'm not sure how to help you from here. In a previous post, you said: "uninstalling the mod prevents me from accessing my private server at all as I have built a lot of things that aren't supposed to be able to be built by the vanilla game's woefully flawed alignment placement boxes." I'm not even sure what you mean by that, but you might consider starting over if you can't access your server as a vanilla server, because you should be able to. I can't explain the fact that you're seeing items in the world with a nominal value of 0 and not seeing some with nominal values greater than 0. You could perhaps do a test where you temporarily delete that storage_1 folder (i.e. move it somewhere else) which would wipe persistence completely. At that point, AFAIK, the world is supposed to be populated as per the XML configurations, so perhaps it's your server's current persistence state that is skewing the numbers.
