I think it was a good year for DayZ, but ending it with as many frustrating bugs as 1.06 currently has is definitely disappointing. If you guys have a New Year's resolution, I hope it's to communicate with us a bit better. Here's what I personally would like to see: A return to individual threads when you release an Experimental or Stable patch and not just lumping them all under the current version number thread A return to having regular Status Reports -- perhaps early in each quarter to highlight what was accomplished the previous quarter and what we can hope to expect in the coming quarter A "Post-1.06 Features List" -- please give us some kind of idea what remaining features you are planning to add to the game (hopefully, this will be part of the 2020 roadmap you mentioned) Perhaps a live stream now and then where we can actually meet some of the current team, ask live questions, view upcoming builds and features being worked on, etc. My thanks to those involved for continuing to work on this game we all love. I hope you have safe and happy holidays and here's to 2020 being DayZ's best year yet.

You've probably checked this already, but did the Application or System logs in Windows Event Viewer log anything for this? The only other thing I can suggest is to delete the \My Documents\DayZ folder and the \AppData\Local\DayZ folder and then use the Steam client to verify all the game files. This will delete your settings of course, so you'll have to configure keybinds, graphics, etc. again, but perhaps you have some corruption somewhere in those files -- worth a try if you haven't done this already. Good luck -- hope you figure it out.

Did you not see the response from ImpulZ in the other thread you started about this? In case you didn't, here's what it says: As described in our guidelines, DayZ Staff can not and do not have access to BattlEye global or VAC bans, and can not revoke them in any way possible. You MUST contact BattlEye or STEAM support about any bans issued on you. They have to come back to you on this. Here, no one is able to help you.

Bears are definitely present in Livonia, not sure if the latest EXP patch turned them on in Chernarus though -- anyone seen a bear in Chernarus yet?

Oh okay, you said nothing really happened, so I got worried we had new bugs with that! 😋 In the past, the cannibal effects started pretty soon after consumption, but to be honest, the laughing would drive me insane, so I basically KOS any cannibals I find these days! I'm not sure if they've extended the times or what.

I have to disagree regarding the food. For me, 1.06 is the "survivaliest" patch they've released to date. It is far from perfect and the current inventory bug is indeed annoying, but food-wise as @kumando says, if anything, there's still too much canned food in the game. If you're dying of thirst or hunger in this game, you are most likely sprinting right off the bat and looking for guns rather than trying to sort out your health. The infected spawn plenty of food, so the immediate pressing item is to either loot a knife or find some stones and craft a knife in order to be able to open those cans. Most towns have a well in them, but you must keep sipping until the "stomach full" HUD health icon appears, otherwise, you haven't had enough water. If you refrain from sprinting until those two things are sorted out, you'll survive much longer. I think food should be scarce and you should have to hunt or fish to survive. Kill one animal, cook it and eat its fat and all its steaks and you're set for hours food-wise for that character. You can also currently eat the fat from other players that you kill without getting the cannibal effects -- not sure if that's a bug or is intended, but that's another way to survive. Now, if we could loot some chianti and fava beans to go with that, we'd be set! 😋

Dear DayZ Developers, I believe this is a typo...he meant to say, make this game FPP/TTP shooter AFTER anything else. Cause yeah, it's DayZ, it's primarily a PvE game, it's not meant to be a PvP game. As Lumbergh would say, "M'kaaaaaaaaay? Thaaaaaaaanks."

Definitely not sure -- just thought they weren't being used as fruit trees -- maybe it's just that the fruit spawns were turned off then.

I used the AR simply as an example since it was mentioned in another post on a similar topic. I think you're missing the point. The point is no single item, weather it be a weapon, a car part, a base-building piece, whatever -- no item should be allowed to be hoarded to the point that it becomes unavailable to everyone else on the server. All players should at least have the chance to loot any item in the game -- that doesn't mean you're necessarily going to find that item, but said item should either already be present somewhere in a loot spawn point or have a chance to be spawned by the CLE during that server session.

I wonder if this is because of the lack of fruit trees in Livonia? As a test, what happens if you use the 1.05 versions on a 1.06 server -- do apples spawn then?

There has to be a balance though because this isn't an actual apocalypse, it's a game. Your description of the CLE is opposite to what it actually is -- replenishing loot where there is a shortage, not creating shortages. If people have gathered all the ARs on a server and buried them somewhere, meaning because of the current design of the CLE there will be no more ARs present above ground, how are you supposed to become more resourceful with that? Chernarus is a 225 square km map and Livonia 163 and that stash could be anywhere! Unless somebody leaks the location where those guns have been buried, you ain't firing no AR now, are ya? The point being made here is every player deserves the chance at a similar experience, but with loot hoarding, the current CLE prevents that.

The main mistake most people make as a freshie is sprinting everywhere. You should be taking it slow at first until you have sorted out your hunger and thirst completely because you can survive much longer that way. I usually start off by killing enough infected until I find food on them. Even though fruit can be rare, I check each fruit tree I pass for apples, pears and plums as they'll help with both your thirst and hunger. Looting a knife (or other means to open cans) is essential as well.

It's basically saying that wherever you installed Steam / DayZ, there is a permissions issue. So make sure all the relevant exe files are running as an administrator and make sure the folder also has its Administrators group assigned for write/update permissions (right-click on folder, select Properties, select Security tab).

@Greensek Stashed items do count towards the CLE and that is by design? 😲 Wow, I honestly thought it was a bug that would eventually be fixed. My understanding of the purpose of the CLE was to repeatedly check what loot is "available to be looted in the world" and replenish those items that have fallen below the nominal amount for said item. Something that is buried is clearly not available to be looted -- well, you could make the argument that if you found the stashed location, then it would be, but you know what I meant there. If this is the case, it's a poor design. One person/group should not be able to control all of any single item on the server.

@Greensek Can you ask the devs about this issue? I have wondered this myself for a while now. Is there or isn't there currently a bug (still present in 1.06) related to this? My understanding was that stashed loot is not supposed to affect the CLE, but clearly, it is and has been for a while now, so is that actually a bug or did the CLE philosophy change somewhere along the line and that is now as expected? In other words, as McWendy has stated, if someone stashes all the ARs, is it the devs intention that we are SOL or is that actually a bug being worked on?

Exit out of Steam and then open it again -- should be about a 3GB update. After updating, verify your game files to make sure all is up to date.
