New game concept - closed doors

I say I like the idea, but not for almost all of the doors as you said here because that would become tedious very quickly. If you had a handful of locked doors in each town with the promise of some higher-end loot locked inside, this concept would be fantastic. As you say, it would take a bit to get inside, because the sledgehammer noise could actually be the trigger to spawn infected nearby. One downside though is that it would promote camping -- a player would hide nearby, let you do all the work and then kill you for the loot you found inside.

    DayZ in 2020

I can assure you I have read that post. @Alex Heyne made the suggestion to add a draisine to the game. Given the fact that the rail system is already in place, I should think adding this type of transportation mode would be much easier than a helicopter or bicycle. I thought it was a terrific idea and flagged you to suggest it to the devs. I can assure you that I won't do that ever again since, based on your replies here, the community trying to share ideas with you folks is pointless now it seems. You've dictated to us what will happen and there's clearly no room for maneuvering from that plan. It's a shame, really. Ideas like this keep the game alive. It'll soon be dead with you folks running the show, though.

Keep spawning as a female toon

This is the PC section, so I assume you're playing on PC. With Steam and DayZ shut down, delete your /My Documents/DayZ folder and try again. Be advised though that this will also delete your settings, so you'll have to setup your graphics, sensitivities, custom keybinds, etc. again after this.

    DayZ in 2020

Hell, bicycles probably would be death machines anyway -- one lag spike and you're dead. Server lags would no longer be a problem with this being implemented, unless of course you were going too fast towards a buffer stop at the end of a piece of track. I agree 100% here, let's forget about helis and heck, let's forget about bicycles too -- just adding this alone would allow for a really interesting new way of traveling around the map at an accelerated pace. @Greensek can you please flag the devs attention on this one? Is adding something like this achievable with where DayZ development is now?

    Changing loot spawn distance

That's not how the CLE works. There are designated spawn locations throughout the map. When an item is looted, it will soon be repopulated with another item, based on what the CLE determines is currently lacking in the world in terms of lootable items. The only thing that spawns based on a player's location are the AI infected and animals.

    A new map proposal

I couldn't agree more -- something similar to a GTA V map would be fantastic. Sadly, I doubt we'd ever get this from Bohemia, because it would require a completely new set of assets for the city buildings. I don't see them putting that much work into a new map for a game this old, even for DLC, but I hope I'm wrong about that.

How to disable rains in server

You used to be able to configure the weather as you see fit in the init.c file, but I think since Livonia came out, that doesn't work anymore -- not sure how to do it now.

    Chinese Hackers paradise

While I sympathize, this is the reason BattleEye is a component of the game. If you haven't already, I suggest posting messages on their website about this and not here. If anything is going to be done, it'll be done by BattleEye, not Bohemia. Bohemia have never administered official servers, nor will they ever, so complaining about it here is pointless.

Some solution for my server error

Only solution is to open a bug tracker ticket and provide this information, along with your server logs, to the devs to look at.

    Two Server Questioin

The other one is probably on the LAN tab.

    DayZ server

How are you launching the server exe? If you are trying to do that using Steam, you're doing it wrong. You need to launch it via a batch file or server tool with the appropriate command line switches pointing to your config file, BattleEye folder, etc. Check the "PC > Server" section here for lots of posts about this.

DayZ ENDGAME - Cars and Bases - what of it?

It's an issue because nobody is administering the official servers. If you don't want to deal with hackers, don't play on official servers.

    Graceful shutdown of server

Try it using a batch file with Admin privileges. I had a community server going last year and doing it that way, it terminated gracefully always.

Free Weekend + no servers added = ?

Using the analogy I put in this thread earlier, this would be like my company hiring only one bartender because they couldn't anticipate how many spouses were going to attend the Christmas party. C'mon, man. There's no excuse for not renting at least a few additional temporary servers for this type of event.

    My Car Experience

@slowfast70 I've had some similar experiences with cars and never quite figured out why it was happening, but yeah, I think yours vanished due to damage. I have no proof of this whatsoever, so this is simply my theory based on experience -- I think once the car (or a part thereof) gets ruined, the entire car itself is marked for respawn, so even though you removed the ruined tires, the car vanished anyway. I crashed once and the only visible damage to my car was the radiator and I did the same thing as you did -- I removed it, discarded it and went looking for another one. In my case, there was some industrial nearby and I lucked out and found one very quickly (like within 15 minutes), so I was back where the car was within 30 minutes and it was also gone. Now sure, it is possible that someone saw me, had a radiator on them, popped it in and drove away, but I was never shot at while driving, saw nobody in the area and my gut feeling is that it simply vanished. It had no other red-state (i.e. "ruined") items on it, including the car itself, so it should not have disappeared.

Free Weekend + no servers added = ?

You're missing the point, Uncle. The free weekend is intended to draw in new players that have never played the game before. They are not going to know the differences between an official server and a community server right off the bat. Most likely, their first experience with the game is going to be on an official server and if that first experience is waiting in a never-ending queue, they'll just move on and write off the free weekend as a failure. I was at a company Christmas party once that was open bar and spouses were invited, so we literally had hundreds of people there, but they had only one bar station and one bartender when the night first started. I waited 45 minutes and still was about 12th in line before I said fuck it and a bunch of us fucked off to our favorite pub. If you announce something as free, expect a lot of turnout and be prepared for it. Once again, as usual, Bohemia wasn't.

    Moving into 2020

We could go 'round and 'round on this all day I think, but safe to say we're both disappointed with where things are. I agree, it would have been better to finish the game first, but I think they bit off more than they could chew, development of the new engine took longer and was more difficult than they expected and we get back to my point -- the suits didn't want to keep spending money without more money coming in. Initially, that meant releasing early and selling it on console, now it means DLC. No new income = no new development -- sad, but true.

    Moving into 2020

While there's some truth to what you say here IMT and despite the reduction in team size, they still have salaried employees working on DayZ and they still have official servers to pay for, so BI is definitely spending money on DayZ -- as long as that's the case, DayZ will need to be generating income. Previous earnings are irrelevant to those controlling the purse strings -- for continued development of a product, it has to have potential of bringing money into the company -- for DayZ, that means DLC.
  19. drgullen

    Moving into 2020

You can't have one without the other. BI is a company trying to make money. How else are they supposed to make money from DayZ at this point other than DLC? If you want more legacy features put back into the game, you'll need development to continue. For development to continue, DayZ needs to continue to generate income. To generate income, they'll need something to sell. Since the game has released on PC and consoles, what else is there to sell other than DLC? They haven't announced anything yet, but I would bet we'll get more DLC at some point in 2020. Don't misunderstand me here -- I'm not some "fanboy" as people like to say on here. I think the development of this game has been ridiculously slow and was released with way too many components missing that were previously in the old engine. But we are where we are now -- it's 2020, the 8th calendar year of DayZ SA. If you want BI to keep working on it, they'll need funding for that, otherwise development will simply end. I'm sorry, but anyone who says "everybody who bought Livonia is also part of the problem" is simply not understanding how business or game/software development works.

Starting to give up here, KINDLY help.

Then I suggest you break out the hand lotion and your favorite porn video, cause this won't be the last time you'll be dicked in DayZ.

    DayZ in 2020

I think you need to take a step back for a minute and realize that this is a video game and not real life. Who here can grow a pumpkin in an hour? Who here can carry a cooking pot in their pants pocket? Who here can bandage multiple knife wounds on their body in mere seconds? I won't speak for others, but personally, I'm not asking to have a bunch of military helicopters flying around, equipped with weapons that can fire missiles at towns and kill a bunch of people all at once -- I'm asking for additional forms of transportation -- a boat, a bicycle and yes, a helicopter -- a regular one, not a military one. Helicopters should be implemented similarly to cars -- they are rare (even rarer than cars, maybe just 2 or 3 flyable helis across the entire map) and spawn without fuel and requiring a repair with an electronic repair kit perhaps. You now have a new goal -- head off, loot those things, come back, repair the heli and you have a new way to get around the map. I don't see what's so wrong with that.

    Buriable stashes

You could remove the shovel from spawning by changing its min and nominal values in types.xml to 0.

    DayZ in 2020

It's disappointing that there is no sense of commitment on their part as in they say "we intend" to put broken bones in, instead of committing to do it. On the other hand, I guess the way to look at this is "something is better than nothing". We're apparently going to get 5 updates this year, more bug fixing and balancing and some new content as well -- so it sounds like close to a repeat of 2019, but perhaps with updates that are not quite as juicy as we'd like. It wasn't much of a roadmap, though -- I'd still like to know what's coming around the bend. Will we ever get helis? Bicycles? Bows? Will development continue into 2021? Why can't you lay all these things out for us? I know in the past, we've been told that ".62 parity" will not be possible, but you're clearly still trying to add some things back, so an updated 2020 list of things to come would be appreciated.

The weapon loot economy needs to change.

While I agree the CLE is broken in this regard, this is not the solution. Removing an upper limit for weapons would simply result in more of the same issue -- there would still be none of these weapons available to loot, but a whole lot more of them would be buried. I'm not sure how they fix this properly, other than removing the ability to bury items altogether. The only other thing I can think of would be to have weapons items that are buried lose "health" at an accelerated rate, perhaps even degrading a notch every 24 hours. This would mean a pristine AKM buried on Monday would be ruined and vanish from its stash by the weekend, allowing the CLE to spawn one somewhere. This rate of decay would be completely unrealistic of course, but would at least somewhat address the issue. It would force the hoarders to have to dig up their stashes in order to "clean" the weapons with duct tape or a gun cleaning kit. The tediousness of having to do this regularly would dissuade them from burying weapons in the first place.
