Have you moved the weather definition after the hive? If not, that is why it doesn't work. See this post for details: https://forums.dayz.com/topic/247557-how-to-disable-rains-in-server/

Server issue with placing any object anywhere
drgullen replied to RoxofoxeR's topic in Troubleshooting
I hate to be Devil's advocate here, but you know what the devs will say -- have you tried this on 1.08 without any mods? I ask because I've played 1.08, I've seen others play 1.08 and I've yet to encounter or see any issue placing things, so my bet is one of your mods that worked fine on 1.07 is causing this issue on 1.08. I suggest you try it without any mods present and if the issue is still there, open a bug tracker ticket for this at that point because you'll have proven then that it has nothing to do with any of your installed mods. -
Well, I just thought of this, dunno if it will work or not: create a dummy types.xml file with maybe just one item in it, the water bottle perhaps and make its nominal/min/max values zero. Shut down the server. Delete the persistence files (if you want to wipe the server completely of course, otherwise skip this step). Backup the types.xml you want to use later and then put the dummy in place. Temporarily change globals.xml to not spawn any infected. Start the server and let it create new persistence files. Once it's fully up and running, you should have a loot-free world. Shut down the server. Put the real types.xml file back in place with your updated min/max values. Reset the infected to spawn again in globals.xml and start the server. You'll probably get loads of errors from things missing related to events, etc. but as long as persistence files get created, it should in theory wipe all the loot? Use at your own risk...just thought of this and have never tried it personally.

Well, if you have none at all now, hopefully you took backups of those files before you edited them. Restore the backups first and get it so you're back to where you were to begin with -- seeing some of them appear at least. You should only be editing the territories if you are wanting them to appear in different locations, otherwise, all you have to do is increase the number of total that can spawn in the global file and then individually which ones you want more of in the events file. If you still can't get it to work, post whatever edits you've done here and maybe we'll spot what the issue is.

THAT'S A SPICY MEAT-AH BALL-AH!!!

Just because your indicator is white doesn't mean your hydration is full. Next time, keep drinking at the well until you see the stomach full icon pop up. It might take as many as 50 sips of well water to get there. As soon as that pops up, stop drinking. You'll see the water up arrows stay up for a while after that and the indicator should stay white for an hour or more. The same goes for food. The goal should be to keep the apple fully white. If the indicator is missing even one tick of white from the top part, you are not eating enough food. I have yet to reach an upper limit for food consumption, so it's a similar thing -- keep eating until you see a full stomach icon appear.

If you're talking about an in-game map, there isn't one, at least not on official servers anyway. Some modded servers have a built-in map and then there is also the option to loot a map, but on vanilla by default, you don't get one.

Due to the lack of a proper ragdoll effect, it is sometimes necessary to cut up a human to get access to their loot because they are glitched into some object. There are also occasions where one or more items of loot on a corpse are bugged and only accessible by cutting up the remains. It's an interesting idea you have, but I'd want those two things I mentioned above to be fixed first to eliminate loot glitches.

Out of curiosity, I just went to Ebay and in their search box, typed "DayZ Guns" and the OP is right. I don't want to advertise this idiot's store by posting the link -- just do it yourself and you'll see. Here's his caveat at the bottom of his description, though: "This is an in game purchase, game not included!, no refund if we have already met in game for the trade! Happy to cancel before the trade if you so wish, after purchase contact me for details on server + location - i am not held responsible for any deaths too and from collecting your item(s) - (for an extra £3 i will create an account and put the item(s) on ready for you to login and take to your own server to give to MAIN character)" He is selling car tents for only 7 pounds though -- bargain! 🙄

It sounds like you have some Windows issues outside of the scope of DayZ. You might try creating a new user on your computer and make sure that user has Administrative Privileges and then login with that user and run DayZ. You might have to uninstall and reinstall Steam as well. As it will be a new user, that DayZ folder won't exist under that user, so maybe that will help. Good luck.

Delete your /My Documents/DayZ folder with the game and Steam turned off then restart your PC and try again. It sounds like something is corrupted in one or more of the config files stored in that folder. Hope this helps.

I think it's time we inject a bit of compassion into the conversation. When they declared that there would be 5 updates this year, this was prior to the world going completely nuts with the pandemic we are currently dealing with. For all we know, some of their staff may be sick and unable to work, some may have family members that are sick and they have taken a leave of absence to help, most of them are no doubt working from home and there are always challenges associated with that. How about we cut Bohemia a bit of slack and be happy with whatever updates we get for the remainder of 2020?

There is a random chance that your character will get sick from being cold. For example, if you're out in the rain long enough, you may catch a cold which is curable by taking several vitamin pills.

To answer your question seriously, you can't make this mechanic equal to real life because keeping your character alive by searching for and looting food and water is part of the game. As another example, in real life, you can't plant pumpkin seeds and eat pumpkins from those seeds on the same day, but in the game, you can. If you're new to DayZ and dying of starvation, you are probably sprinting everywhere as a fresh spawn. Walk normally at first until you've topped up your energy and hydration. If you find a well, keep drinking at it until the stomach symbol appears. If your energy "apple" icon is full white, that doesn't mean stop eating. It just means you're good for a good while before it turns yellow and then red. I'm not sure how you're measuring "24 hours" -- if you mean 24 actual real-time hours, there's no way you should be able to last that long in this game without eating -- it would take away from too much of the survival aspect of it. I typically first find a well and drink at it until my stomach is full. I then try and loot a knife and kill some wildlife. I then cook that wildlife which I use as both a food source and as a heat source in case it rains. At this point, I usually have more food than I really need, so dying from lack of food is moot at this point. I think the starvation and dehydration rates are fine as they are.

True, but last time I checked, this was a game and not real life.
-
The only explanation I can think of off the top of my head is that your body was actually still there, but was clipped into the ground. I have had this happen to me before with some of the players I've killed -- it usually involves the body falling near uneven ground. The game does some weirdness sometimes due to the lack of a true ragdoll effect, so perhaps that was what happened here as well.

Speaking as a former owner of a community server, this statement is simply false. I was not only a player on mine, but an administrator and was keeping an eye on things regularly. There are plenty of quality community servers to play on where you will get banned for breaking the rules. Some of the Twitch streamers playing DayZ play on some of the servers I'm talking about -- I've literally watched the administration of these servers happen in real time during the streamer's cast.

The number one rule in DayZ is: don't get attached to your gear. It might be a player who does nothing but kill on sight or it might be a pack of wolves that came out of nowhere -- you're eventually going to be killed by someone or something and lose everything on you, that's just how it is. Rather than building, you might try burying. Loot a shovel and find something like a chest or waterproof bag. Once its filled, find a secluded spot that you won't forget, place it on the ground, put the shovel in your hands and bury it. It's a quick way to stash some of your loot, but keep in mind that if discovered by another player, it'll be gone. As @ImpulZ suggested, find a community server that has specific non-KOS rules and you might have a better experience there. As he said though, just don't give up, there are plenty of friendly people out there -- they are probably fewer in numbers than those that will KOS, but they exist. At the end of the day though, DayZ is what it is -- you could live on a character for only a few minutes or for many days, but eventually, you're gonna die and lose all your loot. If you can't come to grips with that, this game probably isn't for you.

Try using the DZSALauncher and see how it goes: https://dayzsalauncher.com/#/home

@NoBeansForMe I see you have custom weather defined in your init.c file. Is that actually working on 1.07? For instance, if you set those values to all zeroes, will you never have rain or is it the case that the server is overriding your settings? I've been hit or miss with weather lately, so curious as to your results with the settings you have here.

You're describing Rust. DayZ is not Rust.

The key at first is to walk, not sprint. This will give you a lot more time before you're in trouble with your health. Only start sprinting once your hydration and energy levels are full white. Find something to open a can with, like a can opener, knife, axe, etc. and then loot the boats you'll find along beaches as they'll spawn food sometimes. Once you have a knife, you can also kill and cook the wildlife, which will give you food for hours. Also, kill all the infected you encounter as many of them will have food on them. DayZ requires a lot of patience at first, but as you learn, surviving gets easier.

I assume you tried doing what the error told you to do -- reinstall the redistributable package? If not, try that.

You can report it to BattleEye and they might do something about it, but nobody here will do anything about it. Your best bet though is to just move on and find another server to play on.
