I finally found myself one of the bigger tents (the car tent) and I deployed it a random spot (right in the middle of a town) just to see how it looked. But I can't seem to figure out how to take it down again so I can move it to the spot I actually want it in. The only trigger I can get when walking around it (inside and out) is to open and close the opening to the tent. Help urgently needed! :)

Just had 2 encounters where no one around me could hear me. First I run into a guy next to the square in electro (but inside a house) and he asks if im friendly and so on. I say yes, but he can't hear me and nothing works. In the end he charges me with an axe and I kill him with my shotgun. Then another guy shows up, same things happens, but he gets the shotgun out first and is kind enough to just hold me hostage (I got my hands up) and steals some duct tape and shit. In both encounters I was NOT in party-chat and I was on the user I was playing with (got a couple of accounts on different servers to play with different friends). I tried making a party (and testing if the microphone worked in that, which it did) and switching user (back and forth from the one I was playing on) but nothing helped. Im _really_ hoping it works the next time I run into a potential stranger so I dont get shot because people stick to the "no mic, no life"-rule (which I personally goes by too, so I would not blame them for shooting me when I dont reply - but its not fun if you actually ARE replying!). Has this happened to anyone else recently? I dont know if its my Xbox or whatever acting up or whether I should make a report about it.

Bohemia posted a fix to this on their twitter-feed a while ago. Apparently it has something to do with the MAC-adress, and you need to go to settings - general - network settings - advanced settings and then reset the MAC-adress in there. It worked for me anyway, good luck with it!
-
Unfortunately, people are still going to be in Party-chat instead of Game-chat and will not be able to respond back, "forcing" them to shoot instead of interacting - which basically is why I am not playing any more.

The inventory-bug (that is affecting a lot of different situations, from stuff in tents being "locked" in it and guns with mags breaking from doing quick-reloads) has been in here for more updates than I can remember by now, and I honestly thing that they are not able to remove it and that it is here to stay. For some reason it seems like they decided to just "let it be" and ignore it, instead of either fixing it or reverting to the version before it popped up. They hardly ever mentioned it when speaking about the state of the game (which rarely happens) and its a real shame. I've almost stopped playing the game as it makes me real tired (that and people running around in group-chats at all times and refusing to speak to each other in-game which ruins what could have been so great).

I like this game but the lack of food is destroying it
Jonas Levin replied to Marcy mark's topic in New Player Discussion
There is plenty of food around, if you are having problems with it then its because you either are running to all the wrong places or expect to be able to run to NWAF at the second you spawn with a Bambi-character. I usually run with just a little bit of food (about two big cans worth) and then I eat what I find on zombies and in houses and its very rare I have to dip into my supplies at all. You are doing it wrong if you keep dying from hunger, ain't no two ways about it. -
Do you really believe that? I can not find them mentioning the broken bones-mechanic with a single word since they stated that they were totally re-making it (which seems like it was more then half a year ago)... If I was a betting man I would put my money of it being added to the ever-growing list of broken promises that they made over the years - but I only bet bananas and am having a hard time finding any takers. PS - where is the helicopters in the vanilla-version? My guess is that they will be added together with the broken bones-mechanic - and after that update hits everyones characters will spawn in with 2 broken legs and 2 broken arms (and a concussion lol) and will die within five minutes while crawling and yelling on the asphalt - just like after that update that made everyones characters spawn bleeding from multiple sources making many bleed out before being able to fix it.

I still dont understand why they are working on _anything_ else then the game-breaking bugs that have been in the game for more updates then I can remember by now. The inventory is STILL broken as ... and you will have to re-log several times with clothing in your hands to be able to remove stuff from it after killing the guy who was wearing it, which makes the "simple act" of taking 7-8 different items from 3-4 different clothings (pants, jacket, vest, backpack and so) and running away with it be an absurd act of re-logging 3-4 times (maybe in a real bad spot with enemies around) over 10 minutes while it should have taken 30-60 seconds if the game was working like it ought to. Guns (with magazines) STILL break at random if you dare to do a quick-reload with them, making the choice if you should reload fast or run away and do it manually (remove the old mag first, then chose a new mag and insert that after - all via the inventory system instead of just pressing Y for a second). The performance is still real bad, and if you take a break for a few days to play other multiplayer shooters and return to DayZ then you will have a terrible experience that feel really, really sluggish - especially when 2 or more people are battling it out in a small area with full-auto rifles. I will not be spending any real time on this game until the devs actually put some work into fixing these absurd bugs that have been pestering the DayZ-experience for more time then I can remember by now. Its bad enough that the console player-base does not have access to modding like they do on PC. The modding-community on PC have basically added most of the stuff that the devs have been promising over the years - and more; working helicopters and boats, traders, missions, tons of guns and clothing/accessories and sooo much more that it makes the console-version look like a DayZ-light/freemium-mode... Its such a shame that this is the lay of the lands, this game has the potential to be so much more - but it really seems like the devs have fallen asleep and forgot to set the alarm-clock. BTW - whatever happened to the broken-bones mechanic that you removed back when updating from 0.62 to 0.63 (before it was out on Xbox or PS4) and which you stated (about half a year ago) that you now were totally re-doing and was going to implement again? As we have not hears a word about it since that (I can find the original post if you guys have not deleted it) then I guess it is safe to assume that it can be added to the lis of broken promises (again, it was also meant to go back in after 0.63 which never happened) together with the helicopters, pets and so on? I will NOT be investing more then a bit of spare-time here and there to the game (if even) until the basic stuff which is destroying the experience that could be so much more is ironed out.

Please dont. And the zombie is acting just like it is supposed to - if it hears shots (or any other kind of sounds within its hearing-distance) then it will react to it and start to move in that general direction, it will then agro on whoever it finds first and will not ignore the player in its way because the shot that it heard first came a hundred meters further down the road. It will agro on the first (living) human it comes in direct contact with, and the initial sound that made it start looking in that direction is nothing but a cue for it to start moving in that general direction. It would be _really_ dumb if it decided to ignore the fresh meat right in front of it just because he was not the one who initially made a sound a made it come in that direction. Would you seriously have it ignore everything else but the guy who made the initial gun-shot or sound (which might be quite far away)?

Its just great that you are geared, but it has absolute zero to do with the subject at hand. Performance is way better then it way a year ago (it was a down-right joke at certain points back then), but it is still in a terrible state. Try and play pretty much any other multiplayer-fps/tps-shooter for a couple of days (without playing DayZ) or a week and then return to DayZ and tell me that the performance ain't really bad compared to the general state of pretty much every other shooter out there. Its usually fine when running around by yourself, but if two guys with fully automatic rifles get in close proximity and starts unloading those things in full-auto then it will still take a solid dip (although not as bad as a year ago) and in many situations the winner of the engagement will be decided by way to much luck and way to little skill as you basically ain't in control of what you are doing at 10-15 frames pr second. And if that is NOT your experience then hallelujah and count yourself blessed (although I have a hard time believing it) by the console-gods that be, but that is NOT the experience of a huge amount of the player-base.

What do you mean by not "losing your locations spot" when switching from private servers to public servers? It should be separate characters so taking them from public to private (or the other way around) should not be possible.

Xbox DayZ Experimental Is Awesome
Jonas Levin replied to TheYetiBum's topic in New Player Discussion
To be honest then I dont have any expectations of them fixing the inventory-bug any more. Its been in the game for more updates then I can remember, and the devs have been very cautious not to mention it or what is being done to fix it. Its a game-breaking bug (I've been killed countless times and lost an absurd amount of weapons to it after having quick-reloaded and ended up with a gun where the magazine is stuck in it and it have to be abandoned) and I am sure they tried their best to fix it when it first came around - im also convinced they got no clue as to how to fix it and have stopped looking into it by now and are just hoping that it will magically fix itself at some point or that the modding-community at some point solves the riddle and fixes it for them (as they seem to be doing with the game in general over on PC where the modders are the ones implementing what we were promised by the devs years ago - helicopters, traders, more guns and so on for a long, long while). I've lost 90% of my hope and trust in the devs by now. I also would not be surprised if the broken bones-mechanics is not getting implemented again after all - they removed it in 0.63 and I remember them station (about half a year or more ago) that they were working on implementing it again and were completely remaking it. I dont trust anything from them before its actually here and working - I wish I was able to believe more in them and their commitments/skills. If only we got access to mods on consoles (like they do on PC) so we could gain access to the great work the modders on PC have done to fix and implement the feature the devs are not able to, but that just ain't going to happen. -
Thanks for the (exp) update, its great that new things are being added and bugs being fixed. Buuut... Its close to half a year since the last update - and all that is being added is the Sporter... The serious main-bugs (that have been in the game for so many updates that I lost count) like inventory-desync/not being able to loot dead bodies/not being able to use what you are holding in your hands and so on, weapons "breaking" if you quick-reload them (shows a mag in the gun that ain't there and can't be removed) are STILL in the game and as far as I know there has been no real kind of information from the devs about what is being done about them. And its not just small bugs, they are quite game-breaking - not being able to use a gun you are holding in your hands (because the server sees you holding something else or whatever is happening) and getting killed because you cant shoot a zombie (as the game thinks you are holding rags or whatever in your hands while you are seeing your gun), not being able to loot a dead body and having to use half an hour in the same place doing the work-around (taking the piece of clothing you need something from to your hands and logging in and out with it with seems to fix that specific item being fucked) and getting killed because people show up when you should have been out of there in 2 minutes like normally and so on are things that by all accounts should have been fixed ages ago - but apparently nothing is happening. What is being done about it? Im not that annoyed of the lack of new items (though I honestly had expected quite a lot more...), but I am quite annoyed at the huge bugs that have been here for so many versions not being fixed and nothing being said about it. Any info would be appreciated - I almost stopped playing the game because of it and would like to return, but I dont have much more patience to give on these matters as it has taken so long already - if only some kind of info on what is being done/the state or the work was thrown out to the masses I would have a lot easier time telling myself to hang in there and keep my spirits up in regards to the development of the game. Its hard enough to be a console-user and not being able to use the amazing mods that the community have made (which honestly seems like so much bigger improvements to the game then the devs have done in years which makes me wonder WTF is happening at BI), but being stuck with these issues at the same time and them apparently being a part of the game now instead of a bug (which it feels like when nothing gets done and you dont get any info about what work that MIGHT be being done) does not give much incentive to be the one saying "dont worry, it will be fixed soon and its just a matter of waiting a bit longer". Any info on the state of the bug-fixing (of the real big bugs mentioned in here and other places) would go a looong way to fix the mood of us that are about to drop out of this game because of lack of improvements and info about it.

I basically stopped playing the game because the VOIP only works half the the time (if lucky). Its seems totally random and im sick of it. Have not played in 1,5 month now and I can recommend it!
-
Same thing here, it seems pretty random whether VOIP is actually working and sometimes I have to quit the game and start it again to make it work. Its been like this for several updates and there are scores of us affected by it.
-
Its clear to see that you are new to the game if that is your attitude. Sure, there are problems - but if you had been around a bit longer you would have been able to see the massive improvements that has been happening.
-
Good to know, thanks for the correction! 🙂 I still cant believe its not a regular part of the game though, it seems like such an obvious thing that should have been added from the start in the official version (vanilla) of the game.

I've been seeing a lot of videos from the PC-version of the game, and one thing that stands out is the blood-spatter. When you shoot someone there will be blood on the floor beneath him (and that goes for zombies and animals too) or on the wall behind him. It looks great and it can be real good to let you know if you actually hit that tiny headshot-target through a window or whatever, plus it just adds to the general immersion. I dont get why it has not made it over to the console-version, as far as I can see then it has been on PC ever since they went to 0.63 a couple of years ago (since about may 2018 I think...). @Greensek @Max Planck Why has it not been implemented on the console-version is the obvious question that I am getting to...? It does not seem like something that would be extremely hard to implement (its like spraypainting the walls back in good old half-life and that is 20 years ago), and we have been told that the vanilla version on PC is the same as the vanilla version on console, but there is clearly something missing here. Is it something you guys are going to take a look at in the future? PS - I am also _very_ much looking forwards to the broken bones-mechanic to return to the game like one of you mentioned you were working on not that far ago, thumbs up for listening to the community and working on that even though that was something you had stated earlier that you would not be working towards. 🙂 👍

At first I though persistence off-servers means that they got wiped at every server-reset, but apparently that ain't happening. Now my belief is that all it means is that we wont get any warnings when the server is taken down (as its only there to make sure there are enough servers if the others are overloaded in certain periods).
-
I dont think so, im seeing videos of people speaking about it in relation to the 0.63-update. I would love to be corrected if im wrong though!

Oh, im so sorry mr wizard of Oz - I hope I did not step on your feelings.

Reload BK18 without opening inventory?
Jonas Levin replied to vfxtodd's topic in New Player Discussion
I have had an SK5G bug out after holding Y to reload after the update (twice). Funny enough I got them working again by ejecting a single round from the chamber and then relogging, I cant remember being able to do that before the update. -
Exactly, and each item has a agreed upon value - like 1 swine is worth 50 chickens or whatever. Use that and set up a system somewhere, just like others have done. Until proven otherwise im gonna have to believe that you guys are just not up to the task as its working great where implemented by those that worked it out by themselves.
-
And I was not talking about the distant Roman Empire, I was using an analogy where it was _outside_ that boundary. 🙂
-
Then the currency could be called something like "gold" or "diamonds" (whatever) instead of "dollars" or "rubles". Its not like people are/were not trading just because they were far enough from the Roman Empire to not be in contact with it - it just makes the currency something else then straight up money issued by a corporation or state.. I dont see how that argument makes sense, are you sure you guys are not just not up to the job? 😉 Maybe its about time to get some of the modders that are doing some _real_ work on the game into the BI-fold? As they are basically doing it for free right now it wouldn't even cost you a lot and the sale of the game on both the Xbox and PS4 ought to have contributed enough to the case that it only seems fair (but odd enough it seems like development is only slowing down). It seems really strange to ignore all the really solid work they done - they got helicopters, various other cars, currency-system, trader-bases with an implemented safe-zone, a large number of guns, various equipment, bases that actually functions (aka cant be raided by a Bambi in 2 minutes) and tons of other really impressive stuff implemented in the game already on the modded servers on PC - and they probably know more about the game then half of BI's developers (what is there left, 10?) added together. You guys seem to have a hard time just adding the "double-tap d-pad down to turn VOIP on for good" working again or actually making the inventory work without game-breaking bugs - so maybe its about time? Im not belittling the job you guys have done and are doing (I friggin love the game) but it has soooo much more potential.
