This idea is pretty nice. The only problem is that the zeds spawn system would be remade. Taking one situation as example: Server with 10 player. Cherno lit up with 5 palyer around it. Assuming that it would be 50 zeds in there, if the players kill the zeds, they will keep returning. SO, no deal to even lit up a city because zeds will keep spawning over and over. But if this spawn time is delayed, and zed only spawn when more players come in, the city would be at least safe. =) -

One more addition. I think a great solution to it is to add some psychologic states to players that kill another player. For example: If you kill 5 player in a short period of time you become paranoid for some time. But the implementation of it would become in form of ilusions(sometimes auditory or visual) that would be cured through time(maybe a day or 2 /real time, not game time) depending on the quantity of kills. And if you keep killing this time counter increases. Imagine what it's like being in the middle of the forest, a paranoid guy, hearing footsteps, seeing dark silhouettes walking around. Surely any lone survivor would shit his pants experiencing something like that. I would! But it is the reallity anyway. (I think I will post it at the suggestion threads!!!) p.s.: sorry for my english. -

Holy... Found this thread all of a sudden and decided to give it a chance. Really awesome. The way the interactions on the game were exposed, man... really good. Great post. You should make a Paper from this!! lololol (a friend of mine did, years ago, about WoW/Virology) Well said. But... THe problem is that DayZ is just a Game. Ppl usually won't "role play" a Zombie apocalypse survivor because even if they feel anything when killing a char, they know that they are only killing a char. The experience that this game delivers to the player, at least for me, is immersive. But not enough to make you feel repenant when killing a innocent. I remember when I started playing this game. There were 2 situations that made keep my "faith on players". In one, while unarmed, at night, I found a player, flashed my flashlight for him, and we walked together scavenging for some miles, and then each one wished good luck to the other and we followed opposite ways. The other one was at Balota's airport, maybe the most intense experience for me. I respawned at the Control Tower and heard flies. Asked on mic if there was anybody there, non response, all of a sudden I hear some movement, and told the person I was Friendly(as I always am), he lied, I got the hell out of there. Just at the door, was coming another player with a AKM(I was with a CZ with only 1 round) I screamed: Im friendly. He did the same and didn't shoot!!! Man, this was amazing. Unfortunattly, I got the hell out of there alive, and told the guy I found at the door that there was a propably hostile player at there, when I was far enough I hear the gunshots. I felt sad for what could be happening at there, but didn't came back. I remember that I kept thinking about that moment for a week or so. What I'm trying to say is that if the players do not play this game looking for a simulation, a real simulation of a Zombie Apocalypse. THey won't experience such a moment, they will only be players, PK's, MMO farmers that search for ever to be the guy with the best stuff. As you said, OP, this game isn't meant for killing spreas, massacres etc. It is mean to be fun by simulating a real apocaliptical enviroment, by giving players some of the most unique experiences we can ever live, the interaction of Human beings on a very hostile enviroment. And this can only be achieved by all of us when ppl stop playing this only to kill, or to farm items, but to live each day more, to make you way through a Zombie Apocalypse. -

Well, I'am having the same problem. And I gotta say, it is hard for me to connect to a server. Im in Brazil, most of the server(99% prob.), has 100ms+ ping for me, and most of them kick me for High Ping. The ones that doesn't kick me instantly, lead me to the fu**ing Loading Screen of Death!!! I'd like to play since Im on vacation and my University is on strike, so, no classes for the next 1-2 months. If it is necessarry to reset my database, I agree loosing all my Items, but please, let me plaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! I already tried most of the solutions posted in here, none worked of course. Managed to get online today at some servers, but all of a sudden, I can't join any now? I'm desperatly looking for a solution, was about to make another thread, but seems like there are plenty of those like this. Sorry for the long text. =) P.S.: It all started after the update to 94444 and shortly after the DDoS attacks the problem became worse. EDIT: After re-doing some of the processes, I managed to get only once. But I keep getting "Script Restriction #16". I'm afraid to get banned, since most of the servers I try to connect to, I get this error. -

I have a little question... I made a camp, on a place(Im sorry, but I won't tell the exact location) that is nearby this "zone" you meant, but isn't inside of it, while with the map switched on, I can see myself and my fellow survivors marked on it. But when it comes to internet maps, some of them don't show this zone Im in as part of the map, but it has vegetation(trees, animals, etc). Should I take all my stuff and vehicles outta there(if I still have time)? Or no need to worry about? P.S.: Im no crazy to put a camp outside the map... 2 reasons: hard to find, even for me; and it's kinda frustrating to die by starvation before reach your camp and don't to get your stuff, since Im a lone wolf. -

Don't know if this issue was already tracked, or even the reason for it to occur, but, everytime I enter a Bus with my 3 teammates the bugs "teleports" once every 30-60 secs. Is it normal? Our latency on the server is like 200-250, and at that moment the driver got like 180ms. -

Naah, I disagree. Ppl ins most of cases kill only for loot. It isn't a desparate measure, since a lot of ppl or are friendly or just asks before shoot. Generally who shoots first are bandits "with no heart". When you accidentally shoot someone, you try to aid him, not to finish the job with a headshot. This is a mistake to put something like that on a game/mod like DayZ. It will make the game turns into a MMO like the most of MMO's. You can "farm" reputation/morality. It is something idiot. Let the game follow the line of reality. After killing a lot of ppl, you don't regret in killing one more, it is that way. Or you wont kill anyone.

Yeah, it would be stored at the players computer. But a good work makes it hard to avoid security and manipulate information. Im not an expert too, Im new to prog, and Im not used to this security-coding stuff, but one thing I can asure you, there are measures to make this kind of info safe. This would be "hackable" like all other variables on the program, but working on it's security(like "converting this part of code to assembly", wich is a hard prog language) makes it only "hackable" by really experienced guys, and those are hard to find. But, in fact, it is more an "opinion"/reply than a suggestion perse. I think I would work on the idea and put it all explained on a thread. Wait some days, my University is on a strike(don't know if it's the word for: "workers getting mad and not working, screamming, for better conditions"), so I've got plenty of time to think about it! =)

Well, bud, as I said(one more time) it is a rude agl, not a flawless one. If u want I can make some work at it to try to implement a full solution. "If I can rejoin a server - even if it is logging my activity - I wont need to do it more than once to get behind you, kill you and loot your stuff... Or am I missing something?" Good question. One thing I'd sugest is to make the players to respawn at specific "random" areas, around the place they were in. Obviously, checking a safe place, where he would be far from zombies and players. It is not the ideal, but would do. This is stuff of respawning at the exact location you were, even if you are not on the same server isn't good. I already had the bad experience to be in the middle of nowhere and suddenly get killed by a player that was there! =) Bad luck, I guess, but is a possibility.

The beans problem would be solved by adding the need of some kind of can-opener. You will find a lot of beans, but you can only open them with a item that is more rare, and the will be broken after some uses. -

Nice post, man. Except for the melee stuff, I agree with you. When I wounded my hand falling on a mirror it bleeded hard, but it wasn't too much, 200ml, or less. And I took 8 points(don't know the name of this proceedure in english, sorry). 2 wounds of about 2cm each, and in a area that is full of veins. If someone bites you, evena human, it won't ripp a part of your boddy off. It will hurt, and probably bleed. It's just to make some research on the force output of Human jaws, it's pretty low, not allowing yout bones to break or, on a single, quickly bite, cut a finger off. Besides that fact, zed cannot bit you and go away. If they bite you they may still stand, fixed to you. So, what makes you bleed? The punches? -

This kind of counter measure isn't good. Because, as said by other players, it will cause unexpected dc's to screw your game. A good system, if Imnot mistaken it is about to be implemented or is already, is to use "counters". (will use a "algorythm", k?) i.e.: player logged in; do { if(first time) { timer_active(10min){ if (player leaves) { hopping_counter = hopping_counter + 1; } else { if(player leaves) { timer_active(5min) { hopping_counter++; } } } } } while(hoppin_counter <= 5); A rude alg, but I didn't got any better way to expose my idea. This would be ideal!

Ooh, man.. c'mon. YOu kill a guy to steal his items and burrying him makes you a good guy? Makes you a moral guy? Naah. I is just about your intention when killing someone that makes diff, and this a game can't catch or put on a metter.

Naah, no way a normal guy could use it on normal conditions, on a zed apocalipse neither. You know, a toy like this demands a lot of energy, the toy perse and the RC controller. In other hand, talking about reality, most of the ppl won't know how to fly one of these. So, you get 2 major problems: 1- The battery/energy it demands to fly; 2- The skill you need to fly them; Ppl won't "kamikaze" their drones on other players, if it is a rare item. It is just impossible to maintain. Besides, you know that such a toy is huge, where will you put them?? will you fly them while walking? Believe me, tried to make it with a Electric RC Delta Wing, and lost $400!

Hi guys. Everytime I enter a server I play for a few minutes 5 or so, and then it says that the server isn't getting any mesage. My internet is ok, double-checked it. I don't have any software running on background. My game is up to date, and Im joining servers that are 1.7.1.2 too. With no exception, it happens everytime I enter a server? What should I do? EDIT: Posted it on the wrong area, can you admin pls delete or move it? Thanks for those who answer! =)

It's what I was trying to say. THe background. From where you came? YOu suddenly drops on a city. If you came from another city, certainly you've got some more items with you, otherwise you wasn't able to make your way to Chernarus... It is a simulator indeed and must be threated as one, but if your are open for exceptions, some of them would be welcome'd too. You were not a inhabitant of that city you start in, so, you didn't came from your normal life to the zombie apocalipse. This is what Im trying to say. Add some background, so we can choose with wich items we begin! Of course, before I knew that empty cans can be used as distraction, the lack of guns made me crazy, but it is good for the new players. =)

Honestly.. supposing that you had several bites, wounds, gunshot wounds, you're body will be all f*cked up. How does a defib cures a gunshot wound in the head? Or how would you be defib'd if you've got killed by a shot right in the heart? Defibs don't make miracles. Some medical proceedures, like bullet extraction plus defib, etc, would be better explainable than a defib ressurrecting a headshot victim, am I right? This way, one can be beheaded and will ressurrect with a defib. Like on L4D, you get hit by a explosion and a defib is enough to ressurrect you. =) -1 To the idea alone. +1 If a mechanics of medical proceedures would be implemented along with defibs.
