I've tried this without success. My son has a gamertag profile but doesn't have good membership. When I load the game with his profile it has his name in the corner and also shows a new character, but...when it loads up the game my existing character spawns in. Does it need to be a good account to have a separate character? I have the same reasons, I want a character to use when my mates not on so that we dont spend half our gaming sessions travelling to meet up again!

I often find myself spawning at Kamyshovo but my new character spawned all the way up in the NE corner of the map. Nice spawn as there was a little fishing boat place with loads of food and backpacks dotted about.

Yeah, me and a friend have been using this too. It's an excellent resource as it also also allows you to estimate journey times.

I didn't think they were in yet. I've seen the phantom smoke plumes a couple of times, and the crashed plane at NW airfield. Can anyone actually confirm finding one?

I felt too at first that food and water depleted too quickly. Having now played for a few days (I'm new to Dayz and a console plebian) and managed to get a character fully geared and up to north west (where I was accidentally killed by my team mate!) I'm not so sure now. It does feel a little quick to deplete but I filled up on cow steaks I cooked on a camp fire and it seemed to last a fair while. Also as others have stated, until disease is added properly, we can drink from any water source so plenty of that about. One thing I will say though, I do feel that part of the issue is the messed up inventory system which they tried to fix recently and had to roll back. Inventory space is very limited even with a large backpack and until they fix that, long journeys in the wilderness are a little harder. Personally, I'm enjoying spending time in the north woods hunting food and only venturing into towns when necessary (I'm a scardy pants) and so some method of storing food in containers will be a great addition when it comes.

I'm loving navigating in dayz, everything is such a challenge. It took me and a friend nearly two hours to find each other, and hes played on PC. Very rewarding to finally navigate to a place you're looking for. This game rewards in ways that other games don't. For me, some of my knowledge comes from watching hundreds of hours of FrankieonPC and Blackout. I get really excited when I stumble into an area I've seen in a video.i guess I'm a sad fanboy, but I've waited five years to play this game!

LB puts hands up? Not for me, there isn't even a surrender emote unless I'm missing something. As for pubg style controls, pubg was horrendously clunky and non intuitive. One of the worst sets of controls in any game I've ever played. Dayz isn't an amazing control scheme, but I got used to it pretty quickly and don't mind it.
