Yeah, i guess some players came from having played it on pc, some have been watching it for years on YouTube waiting for a console release (me!) and the rest who have stumbled across it or been told about it by mates. One thing for sure, it's a marmite game, love it or hate it. This forum has seen its fair share of disagreements. To me, that can only mean that people are passionate about the game and want it to succeed. Usually if a game is just downright crap, you just trade it in and forget about it. But this game has seen pc players stick with it, warts and all, for years. I often get stick for being a fanboy. Well, I just love the game I guess. I'm not blind to its issues but I know a good game when I see one and there is nothing else out there that comes close to the dayz experience. It doesn't matter about how polished a game is. Let's be honest, we've all played highly polished turds before. I'd rather play a rough diamond than a polished turd any day.

My latest character started off near berezino. I made my way south west passing through balota and that mil camp in bottom left corner. Worked my way north passing through dmc, nwaf and finally tisy. Found no assault rifles but tbh quite enjoying carrying usg. It's small so easy to store as I tend to travel light with improvised backpack. I had decided not to bother with ARs so dumped all mags and ammo for them. Then I hit the hunting lodge east of tisy and found a AK and a night vision scope, first nv scope I've found. Moral of the story...whatever you look for in this game is hard to find. When you stop looking you find it. So, always be looking hard for that red tracksuit! P. S. I left the AK and nv scope 😎

Ignorance is bliss eh?
-
Nope, I'm pretty happy thanks. I never cease to be amazed at how small people's minds can be though.
-
Now that really is sad.
-
World poverty, greed and intolerance make me sad. Devs not tweeting about updates don't get a second thought

I'm just curious, was there ever a hold breath mechanic on pc? I've watched a lot of YouTube over the years and never noticed this. The only steady scoping I've seen is when using a bipod. So I got to thinking, how realistic is it to hold breath and the sway to be completely eliminated? Maybe they should add the bipod instead and this would be a separate item you could find to attach? I find the holding breath idea a little incongruous with the game as it just doesn't seem realistic. Interested to know what other players think and interested in PC players historical knowledge of this feature.

If they do character lock any servers then we should have the option. So, for every locked server there should be a public server too.

What kind of reward can you imagine? I personally wouldn't feel it was suited to this game, though I'm sure upon full release we will potentially get achievements. But it's such an open sandbox game that I don't see what kind of reward you could have. I think I'd like something upon death that tells you how long your character survived, how many miles you travelled, etc. The Long Dark has something like that which logs your characters life.

I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that we don't have persistent out of body experience. But the field of view is different so yes, it kinda is all about fov. If the fov was increased in 1pp it would be more natural. This changes the perspective.
-
I think the point is that in 1pp the field of view is too narrow. You can see your hands in your peripheral vision of you hold your arms out. If 1pp had wider fov it would be more realistic. Aside from that though, if people want to play 3pp then what's the issue? Let them.
-
I agree with pilgrim in that the field of view in 1pp is totally unrealistic. If you could widen the field of view it would be a truer representation. 3pp isn't necessarily easier though. If you think about it, other players using peeking have an advantage which makes it harder for players. Both styles have their pros and cons. I find looting and combat easier in 1pp, but I enjoy rolling around in 3pp.
-
Only with the pu scope and pso scope.

I play hardcore servers occasionally but I don't think it makes your balls any bigger! When I'm on regular servers I often still play on first person, but when I'm running distances I like to see my dude, simple as that. All the rest is macho bull shit.
-
Surely people can choose to play whichever way they want?
-
You're clearly looking on the wrong places then. But even staying away from military areas there are still plenty of weapons about. I've literally just found two .45 pistols in a police station and a shotgun in a house within fifteen minutes of fresh spawn. Plenty of mosins around too. You should also check guard houses. Plenty of loot around. Food and drink is abundant on the beach if you look in the rowing boats.
-
I guess what I meant was that if it puts you into a random server.
-
That could certainly prevent ghosting but wouldn't stop combat logging and server hopping for loot
-
Yeah I get that too, pitch black. I seem to remember night being dark but not literally black screen. I don't know how I feel about it. I want the night and I want it to be dark and not just the traditional video game night, but, well, I guess just wait and see what happens. I think if they had the moon out you should be able to see a little and maybe cloudy or rainy nights a lot darker. I realise that we can obviously use torches but you feel kinda exposed running around with a torch at night!

Cheers bud, glad to oblige. I'm sorry you're having so many issues. I've played a few in the past but I just stopped playing them. I would be interested to know where this majority is and the exact numbers as you seem to have a detailed knowledge of this. I'm aware of a die hard group of about six or seven people on here who seem determined to convince everyone that the game is 'broken' when it actually just had some bugs. I'm not sure if you have ever played any other games but just in case you were thinking about it I should probably warn you that most games have bugs. Including full release AAA titles. I wouldn't want you to be disappointed. Oh, and this is a public forum and we are all allowed to express our opinions without being verbally attacked. Is that too hard to grasp?

Well I finally experienced some bad frame rates last night. I changed from my usual server to a different server and every few minutes, regardless of where I was, I had stuttering frame rates. The only thing I noticed on the server was that there seemed to be a lot of base building activity everywhere. I left the server and went back to my normal server and frame rates were fine again. I don't seen too have issues with chambering rounds and I don't particularly recall problems leaving inventory, but I tend to travel quite light so maybe it happens if you're carrying a ton of gear. I've had zombie aggro when I've been in buildings before but I always assumed they saw me through the window. Don't think it's ever happened to me when I've been in, say, a garage with no windows.
-
I don't have issues with frames, crashes or inventory. What aspect of inventory?? Don't play if you dislike it that much. What's so hard to grasp?
-
I don't get this idea that the devs don't give info about what's going on. I'd say they are pretty transparent. Especially as far as console players are concerned. The game goes through experimental stage to stable then to console. We can see well in advance what's coming. Most game companies tell you nothing aside from sales promo.

I don't really feel there is any point to prove. It's not a contest. I remember first playing Subnautica and a couple of hours in, the frame rate was so low that I couldn't catch fish and kept dying of starvation. I stopped playing for a while and waited for an update. Each update didn't fix the issue. One day I wiped it off my drive and reinstalled and it ran perfectly. I don't really know why I'm recounting this story, I don't imagine that the same issue is happening with dayz. I imagine people suffering from poor frame rates have tried reinstalling? I remember Nikoor posting a clip up at nwaf with very poor frame rates. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I'm not even saying it doesn't happen to me, but I really wasn't exaggerating when I said I get occasional audio lag in certain parts of certain cities. I haven't experienced any issues yet that have stopped me playing the game. I'm not interested in base building. I have Ark and other games to get that fix. Dayz was never about that for me but I understand that obviously some people do want that. My point is simply that when people state the game is broken because one aspect isn't working properly yet, due to it being in early access still, then I feel that they are the ones exaggerating. Or at least, spitting their dummies out. If the game is, in their honest opinion, so bad as to be unplayable, then the answer is simply don't play it until they fix those issues. There are a lot of threads which are purely rants without any real critical value, lack of assault rifles being a classic. Or someone shot me even though I waved at them etc etc. Yes, the game has bugs. Show me one that doesn't. People just need to learn a little patience.
