Yeah I haven't seen an ar since game came out of preview. I'm enjoying using other guns to be fair but clearly something is wrong with loot cycle and it seems that duping may partly be responsible. Also haven't come across any silencers or field vests for quite a while now.

I get what you're saying, but there will still always be kos players. There will always be backstabbers, friendly helpers, weirdos, loners hiding in the woods, etc etc. Variety is the spice of life.

anyone think we will see dayz solo on xbox
DayzDayzFanboy replied to Caton Beauchamp's topic in Xbox
I think pc has or had a single player offline mode but not sure if it's planned for console. I have mixed feelings about it. It would be handy to be able to play when servers are offline and for experimenting with base building. I think as long as the character you have offline can't then be used online it would be a reasonable option. -
Why do you think locked servers would stop kos?

Yeah I agree with your comments. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed collecting gear and building the base. It was a project that I had a lot of pleasure from. To be honest, I'm not actually that salty about it being dismantled. I just think well, my time was well spent and there's wasn't. If it wasn't for the idiots in this game it would become dull quite quickly. I've had a go at base building now and enjoyed it but don't feel the need to build another one, yet. Same with cars. I enjoyed getting them running but again a lot of hassle and then too much effort to hide them and too much worry about losing them. I like rolling on foot and I like hiding bits of stash here and there. If I find containers I tend to bury them near the coast with a pistol and mags and ammo so I can easily find a working sidearm if I respawn but loot hoarding on general seems fruitless. I honestly don't get why people hoard so much gear. Each to their own, but I enjoy the looting journey.

Hmm, I'd be reluctant to accuse someone of duping just because they have built a big base. Me and a mate built a sizable compound with two cars and a ton of buried gear in around five days. If there are a lot of you collecting materials then I don't see that it's hard to achieve without duping. From what Tyler says, they sound like decent guys. People are quick to accuse people of duping without knowing for sure, just because they have decent gear. All I will say is this. I feel base building is a pointless activity and hiding loot is much more useful. I don't think building a base serves any real function. They are not protecting anything. The compound me and my mate built was dismantled over night by a squad of six teenagers who'd been harassing us for some time. The stole the cars which they abandoned later in broken condition. They found two buried chests which to be fair weren't in very well hidden locations and then spent the night taking down every bit of structure we'd spent a week building. I don't want to sound salty about this. But I am! I don't mind being raided and having gear stolen. Including the cars. Personally if I found something I wanted I would take it. But dismantling everything...i just don't get the mentality.

Yeah actually meant to mention this too. I noticed a few spots that always cause a small lag. One spot on particular causes a double lag and it's on the dirt track just south of Zvir. Lags for me and my mate. Nothing to do with population of server, always the same spots. Same as the lag I get in towns. It always cuts the sound out when I'm passing through kamenka. It seems to be when there are lots of infected nearby maybe?

There is no such thing as a place where no one looks. It all comes down to pure chance. Barrels and buried stashes, on the other hand, can be hidden very easily in high traffic areas. Barrels are also so plentiful you can collect lots of them and have far more storage space than a couple of tents.

I've had some odd issues with achievements. I didn't get the achievement for cooking steak when I cooked a beef steak but then got it when I cooked venison. Also, the one where you have to melee other survivors... I definitely killed one player with a melee weapon but my progress has gone up to 33% even though I didn't kill anyone else. The other achievement I'm struggling with is the headshot achievement. It definitely says headshot infected or survivors but even though I've headshot dozens of the buggers it still says 0% progress.

We don't need micro transactions in this game thankyou, this isn't Fortnite

Personally I've had more than my moneys worth from the game. With or without the bugs, there are very few games I've put this many hours into. I actually think all games are over priced at £40 but that's what they cost. I went to the cinema a couple of days ago with my son and it cost us £30 by the time we'd bought drinks too. I was horrified, this was a cinema down south and it tends to be half that price up north. But there you have it. Two hours of average entertainment (Hellboy) vs 1000 hours and still counting on dayz. Price needs putting in perspective.

Pfft, smh

I had two cars up and running. With a bit of care they are pretty safe to drive. Never had a crash though will confess to a couple of close calls. Each day I logged off I stripped them down and buried the parts. They still got stolen. Probably by dupers duping wheels. I don't see how else they could find eight wheels in two hours, which is how long I was logged off for. Not bothered though, I have more wheels stashed where they will never be found. I do think it's worth getting a car running. My only issue is that it's hard to keep them from being stolen. If combination locks worked properly it would be easier to keep them safe. Anyhow, still good fun finding parts and getting them running.

I don't think anyone is questioning the choice to play however you want. I believe the point is, exploiting glitches to gain an unfair advantage. How do you feel about games like battlefield when people use exploits like Wall glitches? The issue in dayz with duping isn't that you're just gearing up quickly, but that it also affects the game adversely for other players by affecting the loot economy. Yes play your own way, but if your cheating causes someone else's game to be affected then you should be banned.
-
I don't even bother with tents. As our friend above says, people just steal them anyway so what's the point. I don't really see why anyone would need four tents tbh. What do you keep in them? I tend to have stashes buried as they are hard to find, or barrels hidden where they can't be found. I only use barrels or sea chests if I'm collecting car wheels and parts.
-
I just think as long as there is an option for locked or open then that's fine.
-
Haven't found a tent yet so couldn't say for sure but if guess it was stolen as persistence seems to be working pretty well.
-
I believe duping is still an issue.

XBOX lag when entering area of other players ?
DayzDayzFanboy replied to MaximusDickus's topic in Xbox
Why not just rejoin the same server? -
It looks dreadful

Or just use a different gun

Sure, some people could play this game every day for six years and be unsure about it! An hour or two will certainly give you a feel for the basic game mechanics and general feel. I think the best way to decide is to watch someone streaming and watch some YouTube. Watching streamers will show you the slow elements of the game and YouTube will show examples of the kind of scenarios you might encounter. Certainly dayz is a marmite game, you'll love it or hate it. If you like challenging survival games on the biggest map there's ever been on a console then you'll probably like dayz. If players stuck with this game for years, regardless of all the bugs, then it must have something totally unique that no other game has. I rarely play any other game now. I occasionally play BF4 if I just have an hour or two to spare but nothing else gives me the same immersion that dayz does. That could be purely a personal thing, though I'm sure others would agree. I'm an unashamed fanboy simply because it is such a good game. Most other games I've played were attempts at satiating the need for dayz (Long Dark, Ark, Minecraft, Subnautica, Skyrim, 7Days, Rdr2) but they were all lacking in some aspect or another, to me at least. And they all have their fair share of bugs. I think dayz is in a pretty good place right now. We all have our own issues with different aspects of the game. Just because it's gone full release doesn't mean it isn't still being developed. I think it's the type of game that needs to evolve and develop. It's a living entity with a very unique personality. That's my two cents with anyway.

I'm not sure if you have a pc, but I seem to recall that you can get refunds on games from steam within a certain period? Maybe the PC guys might know more?
-
Lol, you clearly haven't played either game then if you actually think that! Smh

I'd rather travel from one place to another having adventures on the way rather than spawn, loot, log out, wait, respawn, loot, log out, respawn, rinse, repeat... Boring
